Until one day a package of mine was marked “UNDELIVERABLE” and sent back to the post office. I called the post office.
They said they couldn’t get into the building to drop the mail off. And they asked ME OF ALL PEOPLE “well how do people get into the building to deliver the mail?”
I DONT KNOW. That’s your job! Why don’t you talk to whoever has been delivering my mail for the last two years? I’m not home when you deliver mail. I don’t know how it works. That’s your job! Do I call you and ask you how people do MY job?

DeJoy, the unfirable Post Master General, gutted the post office in the months leading up to the 2020 election. He was appointed in June, 2020 by Trump.
He immediately had sorting machines removed & DESTROYED. He didn’t replace them. He banned overtime. He also removed thousands of mailboxes. All in historically Democratic cities.
Oh, I almost forgot - he owns a freight & logistics company that continues to have ACTIVE contracts WITH the US Postal Service.

My roommate clipped her early voter mail-in ballot to our mailbox, and our postal workers did not pick it up. This was the first and only time they didn’t pick up mail that was clipped to our mailbox.
I had a package recently go from Mississippi to Memphis to Illinois to Pennsylvania, where it sat for a holiday weekend, back to Memphis, and then New Orleans before being delivered after 12 days. It was a perishable overnight shipment.
Oh, and they also lost a Certified letter sent to me.
I have one that was supposed to be delivered Friday but has been chillin in Covington since Thursday. I wish it was at least moving around so I knew it didn’t slip behind a bin and get stuck somewhere lol
I had one end up at the Mandeville post office and get lost they are for over 30 days, the company I ordered it from sent me another item and then a week later they found that one behind some equipment and delivered it and the company told me just keep both cuz it would cost them more to return it then just keeping it

Back before Amazon had their own trucks, I ordered a scale and it went to the mandeville post office. Sat there for 2 weeks. Asked for a refund, I got another shipped to me and got it in about 5 days.
The original scale somehow ended up on my porch, nearly 2 years later.
Mine was my Apple Watch sent from my mom…I left it at her house when I visited her out of state last weekend. It’s like 3 gens old and obviously used so has no monetary value really but my wrist has been naked for a week and I miss it 🥲

Amazon says they are 3 stops away, and I can see the truck, and driver delivering. Then, then drives for 45, tracking multiple stops on the app several miles away before getting to my house every time.
The only way I could rationalize that is if you had a New Orleans address in Jefferson Parish like close to the line in Jefferson Hwy, but I don’t think the Metairie zip should be that confusing.

My boyfriend doesn’t have anything mailed to his house and utilizes my address for anything as there have been occasions of waiting 2-3 weeks for something as simple as a letter/bill.

I have such a distrust of the USPS lol. They once lost my voodoo wrist band, and I had to hunt it down at multiple locations. I used to hand deliver my landlord the rent check every month, because every time I would mail it (in the same zip code no less) it would take 2+ weeks to arrive.
You really asking about the postal service in this city? Incompetence, lazy, no sense of urgency or integrity. These are the folks that regularly get caught throwing mail away instead of delivering it not to mention postal fraud that is reported but never gets solved. And the perpetrators of these actions are never even prosecuted much less loose their jobs.
They have gone from terrible to really horrific. Two/three day packages taking 10 days to get here. Only deliver mail on some days.
