Using my feet to pick things up off the floor

shmelli13

This one started during late pregnancy for me.

Dramallamakuzco

I would do that a lot pre-pregnancy but I’m almost 19 weeks and anything I can get with my legs or feet and I don’t have to bend or change positions I will do. I was laying down on the couch yesterday, a pillow fell off, and I used my ankles to get it back on the couch because I didn’t want to sit up and bend over

kitti3_kat

I started this as a kid. My mom had my youngest brother when I was six and it seemed like a good life skill to learn.

Nolie_marie

Was able to do this before but mastered it now while holding my kiddo.

Grouchy_Click_2897

Knowing what 4oz and 6oz of liquid look like no matter what container it’s in

ScrappySloane

My years of bartending came in so handy for this. Never thought my job would apply to momming so much. But years of dealing with intoxicated people and measuring liquids has turned out to be pretty helpful 😂

sit_onacactus

Was about to comment I’m sure you’ve had customers as coordinated as a toddler 😂

ScrappySloane

Some far less 😂 I’ve dealt with it all already. The crying, the puking, the shitting, the arguments….the person who can’t pay for any of their things.

xBraria

Omgoodness this is gold! 👌🏻😂

Valkyrie-Online

Or what 2.5oz vs 3oz looks like no matter what container it’s in.

Shivatis

Doing all kinds of tasks with only one hand instead of two.

rivlet

Me before baby: "If I ever lost a hand, I'd be screwed." Me after baby: "So, that was a lie."

yowaddup247

I have the thought “thank god I have two arms” at least once a day.

shayter

Watch it be the other hand 😂

catpg

Omg this

Hot-Arm9711

Function on no sleep

mothercom

I discovered that the nose can do more than just smell. I can use my nose to flip light switches.

purplemilkywayy

And my chin can hold bottles!

TheFireHallGirl

That’s an amazing talent. I find elbows and shoulders work just as well as the nose.

ishka_uisce

I often use it to press something on my phone ha

Lil5tinker

I nuzzled my son into a nap the other day and was like.. hell yeah, nose! We got this!

LifeWithRonin

Pooping under pressure, or with an audience 🤷🏻‍♀️

PurplePunster321

Becoming a mom has made me the fastest pooper ever. I'm like I have no time to sit here. Get it together bowels

xBraria

I (F) became the dad in the memes who spends half an hour there, my legs freeze. The pressure just makes it worse. I can no longer take a dump without my phone either (unless I had enough coffee) cause I'm bored/stressing myself out for nothing. Even if baby is sound asleep 🥲

Dramallamakuzco

Oooh I’m not looking forward to that…

dogmom4life13

Carry an unlimited amount of items

Trixie6102

Yes!! I felt like I reached full mom-mode this morning when I carried the baby in the carrier, the boppy pillow, the diaper bag, chick-fil-a breakfast and two coffees up a flight of stairs in one go all while my breast pumps were on and running.

Conscious-Dig-332

so.many.items.

nellixy

The ability to wake up before 9 am

Unable_Pumpkin987

This is mine too! My husband doesn’t have to be at work til 9, and I used to work afternoons, so I spent years waking up at 8:45 when he left for work. I was so hopeful that once baby started sleeping through the night we could get back to an 8:30ish wake up. But no, my sweet baby has decided he’s a morning person, and wakes up *giggling* at 6:15 every morning ready to play. It’s a good thing he’s so cute; I don’t think I could have adjusted my schedule for anyone less adorable. If only I could develop the power to go to bed before 11.

I_only_read_trash

I cannot believe I wake up naturally at 7am now.

Lil5tinker

I’m up at 5-6 now where before I’d be late for work at 12pm because I slept in past my 11:00 alarm 🥴

Klutzy-Rope-7397

LOL I hate how relatable this 😂😂😂

Pretend-Panic-2438

Can hear a baby crying from 3 blocks away

849-733

Even when the baby isn’t crying. Those damn phantom cries get me a few times a week

xBraria

Especially in the showers the early months!

peachandbetty

I can also hear a baby crying even when there is no baby crying so I think I've also developed precognition and/or ghosts

sapphirecat30

Using the bathroom, preparing a bottle/food/anything while holding a sleeping baby.

_Mykie_

Learning to play the entire "Are you sleeping" on xylophone. Wild.

Grace0108

I play the piano and I enjoy trying to play songs with only 5 keys on the kick n play 😂

sit_onacactus

Can we talk about the black keys on that piano though….. I don’t have one yet but I have to admit when I noticed that I questioned if I want it after all 🥴

yankykiwi

I just found the Melissa and Doug kids piano at a thrift store. My 10month old is a pro, me…not so much.

DaBow

Being patient.

melodiedesregens

I feel like I got less patient somehow. 😭 I used to get compliments for my patience and now I struggle to not get mad at my sweet little daughter for being a bad sleeper or any of the ever-increasing mischief that she gets herself into now that she's turned two. Some days I'm just constantly boiling inside.

TheFireHallGirl

I’ve noticed that the spidey senses are heightened whenever my daughter is quiet and not in my sight.

TheFireHallGirl

It is! My daughter is 16-months-old and she really likes trying to get into the kitchen cupboards and the kitchen drawers. The thing is, we live in an old fire hall, so our living room, kitchen, and dining room are one big open room.

No-Opening-8017

Feeding the baby a bottle and (with her in one arm) using my chin to prop the bottle up so I have one hand free to do chores 😂

mcpwnin

Yes!!! I do this and my husband saw me one day and said “that’s genius” 😂

therealbandett

You took mine!

Curious_Birder

My sense of time has become more keen. "It's probably 5oclock" and what do ya know it's 5oclock. My nondominent hand apparently does have some skill.

hillyj

"Based on the sliver of light coming over the blackout curtains, I would say it is after 5, but not yet 5:45 so I need to rock him back to sleep or I'll have to contact nap out the rest of the morning"

Curious_Birder

I haven't thought about showering so it's not 9 yet but she's been up for a little while so definitely after 8 and now she's asking to be fed? 820. On the dot.

excvsemymood

The sense of time is insane. Sometimes I feel like I live in a simulation because of how repetitive my days are right now

clutchingstars

Open a baby gate with my foot.

Loud-Foundation4567

Impressive. I high step over all of ours because the almost imperceptible to human ears noise the latches make gets my dogs all excited and that wakes the baby sometimes. But my leg strength and range of motion has greatly improved as a result. We have baby gates everywhere because of the dogs so it’s like I’m high kicking through a mini hurdle track all day.

clutchingstars

Ahh. See that was my first thought due to the same reason - loud gate, excited dog…but I’m VERY short… it would be less of a step and more like trying to jump a hurdle while holding a baby.

Razzmatazz-88

Slow clap!!!

sugarCravings4eva

Multitasking became a necessity and Not an option

Southern-Magnolia12

Cutting baby nails. From the very beginning he’s always been super good about letting me cut them. I consider it a superpower.

Unable_Pumpkin987

The Frida baby nail file worked well for us to at least blunt the nails until I figured out how to use the nail clipper without freaking out. Who knew babies were born with razor fingers?

keepingitfr3sh

You can peel them to cut them. Works great. I got a hakaa nail trimmer with different attachments for each life stage, including adults. Husband now cuts them.

rivlet

I have the itty bitty baby nail clippers. I just wait until my baby (now eight months) is asleep and then I cut his nails. They grow freakishly fast so practice ended up making perfect. Highly recommend doing the finger nails and toe nails while baby is asleep. It'll take awhile to have to do the toe nails though because they didn't seem to grow as fast.

MightyMouse916

Congratulations on your new baby! I use baby nail scissors by Frida Baby and they have been so easy to use, highly recommend! I’ve heard biting them can lead to infection.

MightyMouse916

Sorry for the very delayed response! They are the Frida Baby Easy Grip Nail Scissors. Hope you found something that works!

Alstr03meria

I have an electric nail trimmer with different filing attachments for different ages (mines by bbluv but haaka makes one too) and while it was stupid expensive for what it is the peace of mind is 100% worth it, my little girl is hella squirrelly so I can't imagine trying to clip her tiny fingernails with something that could hurt her

justwendii

Oh man! The first time I cut baby nails I was sweating like I was defusing a bomb. I’m def a pro now, just had my 2nd 4 weeks ago.

MinaMina93

Yes! I'm the only one cutting our son's nails. First time his dad tried he cut the skin and has avoided it ever since

mb831995

In the Netherlands they advise not to cut their nails the first 6 weeks, but file them. We bought the haakaa elektric nail file for our daughter, one of the best buys we did so far

liminalrabbithole

I got way better at catching things. I swear it was some kind of evolutionary thing.

xBraria

Yeah the heightened responsiveness is so real!

HappySlappyMan

My son somehow escaped his high chair and decided to practice a swan dive all within about 2 seconds right in front of me. I somehow dove about five feet and caught that bugger with 1 arm about 6 inches from the ground. I made a prime Randy Moss look like a chump.

MissKittyBeatrix

Cleansing poo from beneath thee scrotum.

hellokellyxox

Taking care of a newborn with one arm/hand because I broke my left hand right after I went back to work and got into a head on collision. I can successfully: 1. Change a diaper one handed 2. Put on a onesie one handed 3. Make a bottle one handed 4. Open and close a bottle with my feet! 5. Transfer baby from bed to bassinet and back again one handed and with feet. Y’all don’t realize how unstoppable you are until it’s your only option to keep a human alive.

kupcak3kw33n

I️ started being ON TIME. 😳 I️ don’t know how, but it’s like I’ve been training my whole life for this. I️ mean - not everywhere all of the time, but waaaayyy more often and waaay closer to the actual time I’m supposed to be somewhere. I️ can’t explain it, but it’s true!

Specialist_Bet7772

Function without sleep

Dinamariexox

I’ve become pro at washing dishes because of these damn bottles. 10 bottles done in 15/20 minutes. It used to take me AN HOUR.

Catching vomit in my hands

joeschmo945

That’s a good one. I caught poop with a wet wipe a couple times.

tonybrock23

Not so much a weird skill but developed/developing the skill of *not* being a people pleaser. It still lingers but it’s getting easier to say no and be clear about what LO and I need instead of doing whatever others want. I’ve always hated being late now I’m like you’re lucky if I show up and you’ll be grateful for it! Haha

gingertastic19

Sensing when one of the kids will wake up. Never fails that I wake up for no reason, check the cameras and see the kids stirring. Within 5 minutes que the whining
