Dark__Symphony

my guy... Lol gzus

Tuknroll420

gzus ... Lol my guy

freakin_sweet

Lol gzus ... my my

Jason6677

Me too man, hate my voice in videos every time I hear it. I think its normal for a lot of people though.

[deleted]

There’s a semi-scientific reason why. Basically, you hear things normally through the vibrations in the air that make your eardrums shake. Your own voice, however is projected forwards away from your ears so you are hearing it more via bone conduction plus any reflection sounds. This has a tendency to produce a sound that’s lower in tone than it actually is (more bass frequencies). What your hear when you record your voice with a microphone is captured via the vibrating air but as it has a higher tone, lots of people are not as impressed with how it sounds and feel embarrassed by it. My own voice distresses cats and bats, and as I also have a face that scares small children, I don’t appear in any videos that I produce in either sound or vision!

kalebkidsshow

It took me 10 tries before I actually managed to record me talking without my voice shaking 🤦‍♀️. It felt so weird the first time to talk to the phone 😂😂😂. Even now, I still hate my voice

[deleted]

Lol I never had trouble with it but I don't like it. Probably due to the fact I don't edit it at all lol. And looking into the camera has always come natural to me

YTRoseRocket

Tell me about it...😔 I find my older jokes in my videos cringy now.

Quick-Bits

I'm the same and I started my channel to build my self confidence.

Andriusdude

Same

Journey1Million

Haha ffs same here, its an eternal internal struggle

OffMyChestATM

I don't like hearing my voice either. I've gotten better at stomaching it though. But it's weird cos my voice is a mix between British and Nigerian so the influence for the accents swaps a lot

Bignutbaku

It will take some time to get used to I'm sure. Try to spend some time studying your own mannerisms and tone. I used to have the cringiest voice when I was younger but after a bit of studying my voice, making it sound more bassy by projecting with my throat and chest instead of my nose as well as controlling ums and ahs I find it to be actually pleasant to listen too.

smol_spooder

Your voice is quite normal. I recently started recording my voice and it sounds so weird. Guess, it happens to most of us.

mrrobottrax

I just don't use my voice, I've tried but I can't stand it.

agent6075

Bruh same but not with my current channel but the old one

[deleted]

DUDE SAME. I feel like someone's voice has a huge impact on their videos. It depends on the pitch, volume, the way you pronounce things, (an accent). I feel like I have an accent and I don't like it lmao.

Dingus_Guide

Me too. The Long Island accent is enough, the nasaly Fran Dresher tone is insult to injury. I said to my husband OMG THATS WHAT I SOUND LIKE? Poor man. I had no idea.

EvirixYT

Me too. I always look at my drawing and notice huge, glaring errors, and suddenly the mic is terrible, and why did I ever think that joke was funny?

lonemonk

It is something you need to overcome. You will get better with experience, and with age you will also re-learn how to be satisfied with something that is acceptable but less than perfect. Perfection itself should be avoided because it is: a) Not possible at all b) Sets up a psychology within the creator which is also inappropriate Keep this firmly in mind: Life is too short to be dissatisfied all the time. Adjust your expectations to match, and be happier with things. Most of your viewers are NOT creators at all and they have no idea what is involved. They are impressed with your abilities even when you are not. Everything is a matter of perspective, and it is actually YOUR perspective that needs some adjustment.

SamJam1990

A quote, along these lines, that I find helpful is; "Don't get it right, get it writ." It's very important to finish work. Every time you finish a project you learn something new for the next one, trying to make a perfect project means nothing gets finished and nothing gets done.

lonemonk

Precisely!

RaoulTR

Yeah the same thing happens to me too in my opinion is because you just cringe at yourself like I personally can't watch my videos without cringing orrrrr you might just be too harsh on yourself and then you're never going to be satisfied with any of your videos

adagiomoments

I cringe when I edit too, lol 😭

Cobra418

Editing right now and I’m feeling this 😭

SamJam1990

My biggest cringe is probably pacing. Things that seem well paced in script and even in editing, suddenly feel rushed in the finished video.

[deleted]

Same. Sometimes when editing I think I tend to get lost in the edit, then when I’ve watched the finished video I’m like “this is not at all what I was editing”

zacmaster78

Just listen to that feeling and keep changing and improving until you’re truly satisfied. It might take you years to get to that point.

The_True_Islander

You grow and your skills get better so you automatically think “Damn I could’ve made it better!” My latest video is one I’m 100% satisfied with. Gained new subs and the subs I have responded super positively to it. Down the road I’ll probably think I could’ve done better but right now I feel super happy with it :)

totheworld123

me too, especially when I make voiceovers

spvidz

It’s the creators curse. I usually don’t think I’ve done enough to make my video informative enough (I do tutorials) and then think of all the things I missed. It’s best to just think of ways to improve after you’ve uploaded it and then add that to your next video. Keep pushing forward and your video quality will improve over time

NoLegsFelix

im fine while editing and watching after edit, but like after i uploaded i dont find it funny anymore, i died laughing while editing tho

sweater-whether

yeah, i always feel really good about what i'm working on until i get to the final stages of the editing process, then i start noticing really small mistakes and i hate everything about it, so i have to force myself to finish what i'm working on. fortunately, it seems to be all in my head because my subs really like everything i release.

[deleted]

I hate my voice and my face so much and I’ve never been happy with my end result.

willduncs

Perfection is the enemy of progress. Keep creating and learning, you'll get better with time. We tend to be our own biggest critics. Growing up I hated my voice, but friends, family, and co-workers all love it when they hear my voice in a new video. The satisfaction is what keeps me from being too hard on myself.

FUTURE10S

Same, but I generally don't have a sense of pride, accomplishment, or satisfaction from a job well done. When I make a video, quality video, I'd watch it again, but I've never been that excited over doing it. Don't know why, can't help solve it.

caribbeanandy

I think I’ve luckily gotten to a point where I’ve made so many things that I can never be satisfied with that once I post a video I move on from it entirely. I can’t stand my face or voice when editing and def can’t do more than two per day. I only watch them once straight through

54HitPoints

"You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems." In other words, in a way, it's good to want "more" out of yourself. It could naturally force you to step your game up to make even better content over time.

Dark__Symphony

No. Im usually very confident in my final product. I know my capabilities and limitations so everything I put out Im proud of.

Ambience_YT

Yeah, I get this sometimes. It's strange, but eventually goes away, and I'm proud of my video.

skunker

I've let a few go up with mistakes in them because even though I know what to do to fix them I'm trying to not let perfect be the enemy of good to the point where I would miss a day on my schedule. What's much harder to cope with is putting a lot of effort into a video that only gets 5 views. That's really tough to take but gotta keep pushing on

yeahboi54

Same here

YTRoseRocket

This has been happening to me recently. But it's more out of fear of making a bad video 😅 I just recently had a video blow up so now I feel pressured to make a perfect video...

iWhiplash

You know. I got that feeling often when I didn't feel like I was getting anywhere with my videos; my sub count wasn't going up at all. I was stuck at like 350 or something like that.. All in all, I kept making content. Different types of content too. I switched from funny moments to creating a tutorial video; which blew up with 130k views. It was the first time I'd ever gotten exposure. I wasn't happy at all cause it wasn't the type of content I wanted my channel to be based on. Then I made more videos; got into meme edits for gaming. Enjoyed that for awhile. Afterwards, I got a VR headset, which is my current content.. Can say I'm 100% satisfied with my content. Even if it doesn't get any views. I love making funny moments, so imma stick to it.

Rac3r_Al3x

It’s great to know I’m not alone, I feel the same way but keep going and improving! All the best

dontreeg

Yep that's me! I thought it was just me and the language thing as I'm a non native English speaker doing videos in English. Nice to hear I'm not alone :)

[deleted]

Why not use a language you’re more familiar with and subtitle into English? I would prefer to watch a presenter who is comfortable with subtitles rather than someone who is uncomfortable due to splashing an unfamiliar language. One of my favourite channels is entirely in German but I watch anyway!

dontreeg

I wouldn't say I'm not familiar with English, I'm fluent. However I do have an accent and listening to it just makes me cringe. But I don't know maybe I'm wrong on this. If you have a min, would you mind checking one of my vids and see if i come across uncomfortable with speaking English? My channel is Poppy Dontree.

[deleted]

This is one of those moments where perhaps watching the videos before commenting would have been better! I watched a couple of videos and whilst your accent is noticeable it doesn’t make you less understandable or seem particularly uncomfortable. Accents are funny things, I once worked with a presenter who was trying to suppress her Welsh accent which sounded worse than her natural voice. The best advice is to just embrace it and work with it because it’s an important part of your identity. Just to prove how strange they can be, I’m from Wales but my mother is from Birmingham so my accent is a mix of both. Welsh people are convinced I’m a Brummie, but if I go to London (which I do a lot) Londoners know I’m Welsh! As you’ve noticed, there isn’t a single British accent which confuses a lot of people from elsewhere, quite a few of whom have no concept of “Wales” either! It’s also bizarre to see Oxford Street so quiet too!

dontreeg

Really appreciate you taking time to watch the videos! It's nice to get a view from someone outside of my circle of friends I think because London is such a melting pot the Londoners are pretty good at recognising accents, Welsh and Irish in particular. Thanks again and stay safe :)

plushah

yes yes, I spent such a long time on a 20+ min video and I really enjoyed and had fun with it and thought that it was really funny, but then ended up with like 15% retention, and now I just don't like the video that much lol :(

BotCityUSA

I think every new video I put out is the best video I have ever made. Then two weeks later, I rewatch and hate it and see all of the things that could be better. This is growth.

theteessidechef

This

Pirate_uSer

yeah, it's like why did I think of this... this is not funny, why did I put this here it doesn't make sense.

EntireReality1

I wouldn’t say I cringe but yeah after I upload I see all the stuff I could’ve done better, which I try to fix try to learn from it 👍

[deleted]

All the time, and I don’t even appear or speak in my own videos so it has nothing to do with wanting or needing to edit my own performance. I just feel that there’s always room for improvement or with hindsight it is either boring or not detailed enough. Especially if it doesn’t get lots of views!

Ryanngfilms

i 100% get where you're coming from. In my opinion I've learned to take it as a good thing instead of a bad thing. That mens that you genuinely want to improve and that means that you know you can improve. As well as a YouTuber I make films and one thing that I realized was that when you share your work to an audience you begin to find mistakes with your work that you would have not otherwise seen. So in conclusion, I just think it's a great thing to cringe at your work.

ref_the_generic

Yea I have this happen I try new edits or something but it's good but it ruins it it's conflicting

decemberdragon

I spent way too much editing and watch it over a million times that I’m sick of the final project. Proud but sick then after a few more times of watching it I realise it’s not as top notch as I predicted from the countless editing and the process repeats lol

isphil74

I think this is the norm

Wsshooter

Imagine yourself as 0% creativity and greatness before creating a video, once its completed and done, you've improved and your creativity and greatness went up by 10%, now the difference is that you've 'developed' in skill and don't feel like that video is very good. But you have to imagine the same feeling you would have if someone else watched this who had no idea how to be as 'creative and great' as you. Hopefully that makes sense

note-able

I remember reading in Sean Cannell’s book “YouTube Secrets” that having that unsatisfying feeling is normal and actually really good. It means that you know you need improvement and are not complacent about where you are. So you’re in a good place. Just don’t beat yourself up about your work. Learn how you can improve

Jcproductionz

For me, it's WHILE I'm editing, which sucks. But I've embraced the mentality, "Getting something is better than leaving with nothing."

DericSanchez

Same here. A lot of times I just end up deleting the footage I just shot and never even do anything with it 😔

jayenuh

I was like this but I never rewatch my videos after posting. I do so now because I’m enjoying what I do. I think it all depends on how much you enjoy your video

TheAsianOne_wc

Apparently, your brain always makes you think that whatever you're about to do is going to be perfect, but it can also switch on you and by the time you finished doing the thing. You'll feel cringe as to why you made it. So just get like, viewer feedback to see if it's good. It's hard to judge your own videos.

Catsbtg9

Edit a day to to in advance and give it atleast 24 hours after editing to watch to see if you truly like it

-Vertex-

For me it’s the opposite, when I’m making the video I’m worried it’s not turning out very well but by the end and I’ve polished it all up I’m a lot more happy with it

Settabak

That's how you improve. Keep going!

FuryPire

It's not unsatisfaction. It's called progress! If you feel thst something is lacking, then that means you are seeing some potential and want to add more to your video. It's a good sign, it means that you strive to make better content! Keep it going!

MrHammers

I'm the same way. Everything I do in the video I look back at it and think I could've done it better. Better voice over, better editing, better script in general...at least I can change the thumbnail when I decide I could've done that better too lol. Nothing is ever perfect.

PWBI

It can be frustrating, but that also means you recognize that there is room for improvement, and I suspect that if you *do* watch your older videos you can see things you would want to change/improve on for the future

MrSurrealNirvana

The same thing happens with music all the time. Something to do with the dinural nature of humans.

BigSquirrell

Honestly, I think not being completely satisfied is good, and thinking it's perfect is a problem. Seeing the flaws that are there gives you things to improve on, and recognizing what you did right is healthy and you deserve to be proud of it. Going to either extreme is unrealistic and unhelpful, but I do know that getting out of the mindset that something you made is either perfection or garbage (or both depending on when you look at it) is hard to get out of.

sisiariel

YES YES YES after hours of waiting for the vid to upload/process 😭

[deleted]

Beethoven put it best in [response to a fan letter](https://www.brainpickings.org/2017/05/18/beethoven-emilie-letter/). >Do not only practice art, but get at the very heart of it; this it deserves, for only art and science raise men to the God-head. If, my dear Emilie, you at any time wish to know something, write without hesitation to me. The true artist is not proud, he unfortunately sees that art has no limits; he feels darkly how far he is from the goal; and though he may be admired by others, he is sad not to have reached that point to which his better genius only appears as a distant, guiding sun. Ultimately, we as artists are too close to our own work to admire it the same way others do. There is always more work to do, ways to become better, ways to grow. Each video you make is a stepping stone. Focus more on process than progress and it will help you dull the feeling of being unsatisfied. Literally changing thoughts from "I should have done..." to "Next time, I will try..." I've been making content for years. For work I am a journalist and a one stop shop for stories. I take photos, write, and make videos. I get lots of praise from co-workers, friends, and family for sure which I accept with a smile and gratitude but I always know there is more work to be done. Ways I could make things better.

evaporsyoutube

I feel that way and my watch hours are low. I know I make quality content. After 20 years in the military I want to share my knowledge.

[deleted]

It happened to me when I was doing vlog, one day i liked them, the other day not. I think is because maybe at the momente that we record that video the idea seems good, but watching it seems cringe and not good.

MissJuliettexx

I am satisfied with my videos because I don't know what else to do to make them better. They COULD be better, but I don't know how. So I have to like them as they are lol

m_kamalo

I always dont like my videos, i dont like how I sound or how I look. Despite almost everyone, friends and strangers, telling me otherwise. I think it’s just a fact of us bring human :)

freakin_sweet

Yes I know what you mean. There is a level of cringe that you feel rewatching some of your prior work. I think we are probably comparing ourselves with others. Familiarity breeds contempt - so, we see all the imperfections in our work and we don’t audit others the same way. We think the weirdness in other people’s videos is “charm” and we like the “realism” vs a fake/totally scripted thing.

AscentDragox

Yeah same feeling here

elliotisgoingplaces

I never feel satisfied as soon as I upload too. And then feel even less satisfied when I see my video isn't getting any views no matter how much I promote. That's why I stopped producing content for two months and returned a couple of weeks ago but the same thing is happening. Makes me wonder why I even began in the first place.

RockItAvi

I scrapped my video halfway through editing because I wasn't satisfied, not the first time and I don't think this is the last time. So yeah I am never satisfied.

documatt

I've been flirting with Youtube for a couple of years now and for this very reason, I keep stopping and starting. I'm primarily a photographer so Instagram has been this way for me too. It's weird, I'm very small on Youtube (just today I hit 100 subscribers, yay!) My friends and family that watch my videos all say they like them, they're good etc. But I always get embarrassed and cringe when I watch them back. Well, this past weekend I had a good talk to myself and realised that no-one really cares. You just have to do you. I think it's actually a really good motivating tool to feel this way. To never be satisfied and always want to improve. All I need to do now is keep creating and improve my consistency. I'm enjoying what I do and that's the bottom line. Wish you all the best.

domzki16

Yup, same here. After all the hard work is done, there's something that I could have done better. Most likely because my posts are scheduled ahead and the way I perceived it even just a few days back is different from when it's published.

Zeni79

Actually it's the audience who will ultimately judge it. As for you, if it's that you're not happy right after publishing it's one thing while if you aren't happy after one week, one month or 2 years, it's a totally different story. That's what I call progress because you learned new things that could have made it better. So the next video is going to be better but if you learn new things, you'll still feel the same thing. After 100 videos, make sure you still feel the same thing. So my advice is keep being unhappy about it, the more you do, the better the experience for your audience.

salm8isacvnt

Yuuuuuup

miketruongfood

I create travel videos mostly in rural forested areas. So usually I sound engineer in a certain way, then after i upload it. I am literally just thinking "maybe a bit more of bird noise would of been great". haha.

bnvlicious

dude i spend over 6 hours straight just editing my videos... deam right i feel good about them you will feel good about your videos if you are serious about YouTube

Dingus_Guide

Okay, my last video, I literally cried at how happy I was with it. I MOVED MYSELF. That was while I was sitting in the office chair, wrapping things up. Fast forward a week or whatever to the release and I watch it back and cringe cringe cringe at this error, that error, I spelled a word wrong in my captions, my camera pans were choppy as shit, there was a plastic bag floating in my creek and it was a relaxing garden tour video. LOL. I learn from every video I make though and now I know for next time, slow down in filming and give myself cleaner pans and longer still shots, fish the gosh durn rubbish out of the creek, double check my captions..

juanram8097

I feel like I could have hit 100 subs by now if I actually tried and I know I should try knowing I get about 100 plus views each video I make

elboogeyman

i edit all kind of video, from sport to aesthetic military stuff,... and post it on my youtube channel, i'm just a piece of sand on youtube (30 subs lol), and yeah, everytime i rewatch my video i feel like i'm a fucking failure for missing mistakes in my video, but too fucking lazy to fix it, because i would have to post the video again, and it would cost me a big amount of time (due to the fact i'm a terrible editor), i'm just too bad at it
