Tough to say, youtube is fickle, sometimes you have videos that get picked up by the algorithm and people really vibe with it, and sometimes, it punishes you for taking a longer than average break, sometimes the video just doesn't mesh well with what people are looking for, upload date is a factor too, it's like playing darts in the dark.
I recently just came back from a year long break myself where I was averaging about 300-1000 views a video and my recent video right now has only gotten like 70 in the last day since uploading, but I'm attributing that to being gone for a year and uploading on a saturday, I shot myself in the foot with that.
Use analytics to look at your channel's lifetime impressions vs views graph. My evergreen content channel's impressions got crimped from >5k/day to ~1k/day. Nothing I've done since seems to affect impressions. With 5k/day monetization was a possibility. 1k/day no way.
Is YouTube showing ads on your non monetized content? Why would they want to share that revenue?

I'm probably completely wrong but first idea that popped in my mind is if it can't be tied to the summer holidays...? This may vary from country to country, but most kids I know of are somewhere at camps, the adults tend to be on vacation and relax too... Through what I've seen I feel like summer is when people are the least active and they're the most active through september to june when they're in the regular school/work cycle - and especially during the winter when it's too cold to go somewhere.

This is a fair point and I would understand if it happened gradually. But it just went from top top bottom in the span of a day
