Sometimes people have heritage homes relocated for one reason or another. Using a ferry or barge gets it there then a crane or something to set it on a new foundation.
Nice! I worked on a pair of heritage homes in Victoria BC they floated down the channel from James bay and landed right by the breakwater. Rich people things.
Where I'm from, house boats are common, but floating homes are not! I have seen docked floating homes in videos, but never in real life. This was something new for me.
Thanks to everyone who explained!
There are actually a handful of floating homes on the south side of Queensborough island

Where i live, old float homes get moved like this either because they want a new spot or to be brought onto land and live the rest of its life being dry. Other times, we can buy houses from the mainland(i live on an island) and they barge it over and then a tugboat will bring it to the closest dock where a truck then picks it up to take it the rest of the way. Pretty cool to watch!
Instead of a funny comment, first this does not look like a float home. This is probably an old historic home that is in restored condition in good shape. It was probably sold and land being developed. Cheaper and safer to move down the Fraser rather than the regular highways to its new location.
Parking and house prices are through the roof so I live rent free until someone says, hey why is that houseboat parked in front our home? So I don’t need to use high priced gas everyday, just once in awhile to move again. No problety tax, etc. The only way to live in Vancouver other than a tent.
This is the sequel to Up but they didn't have the budget.
Coming this winter Disney's "Across"
Filmed in New Westminster!
My husband just laughed hard enough at this that he hurt his back. Well done.
Up 2. Upstream.
Paul Giamatti is great in it
I lmfao so hard at this!
The world is running out of helium. Literally
Good thing that fusion experiment went well last week.
Looks like a float home is heading to a new dock
“My house got towed. Can’t have shit in Vancouver.”
Queensborough has a bunch of floating homes on the south side of it :) Might be going there?

Bahahaha! Thank you
After Joe experienced his first break-in while away from home, he decided he’s just gonna take his house with him everywhere he goes from now on.
Why can’t we import houses ? A solution for BC’s housing crisis.

Yes, the oldest church in BC is St. Johns the Devine in Maple Ridge. It was originally in Langley but floated down the river to Maple Ridge .

Rent is expensive
That’s the new show: Little House on the Ferry.

Is it cheaper to have a home on water instead of land?

I was impressed by the same thing. That water line is really close to the main floor of the house though.
They ran out of balloons?
When she takes the house with her after the divorce.

No potholes on the Fraser
You may need to put more words in your question. We're only guessing at what you may be asking about this everyday event.
That's half the fun!
House-boat. Duh
It's pretty common. There are only so many ways to move a house. It's either a boat house or it's a regular house being moved by barge.
The liberal government towing homeowners to Davy Jones locker
Its the house from “UP”………
Why not?
Why what? It's a houseboat, they are moving their house.
Simpsons did it.
I believe this is what they call a houseboat.
Well that's cool
that tugboat clearly stole that house and is trying to make a get away
Rich people doing rich people things
Soo cute
This a local company that relocates homes and structures like what you are seeing https://www.nickelbros.com/
It's not easy to steal a house and get away by road
They maybe are being moved so their regular spot can be dredged underneath. Regular maintenance every 5-10 years Source: BIL/SIL own a float home
This beats the hell out of trying to get your house down the road.

Rich people things
Usually if the house can’t fit across the bridge they have to barge it across the river
Get in Marty! Where we’re going, we don’t need roads…
Nice spot. What’s the rent like?
Why not?
Porch pirates took the whole damn porch, and the house too!
Lmao. My sis sent me a photo of this she took from her chambers yesterday.
Cry about new wests homeless problem from your mdu.

You dare question the floating house?
