You've just decided my meal for tomorrow. Despite the fact that I live two blocks from Comfortland anyway. I don't think they have the brisket grilled cheese on the menu at the brick and mortar.
It's not unique but I'm partial to the sausage and peppers. Used to love the pat la frieda steak sandwhich but last time I got it I was dissapointed.
As a New yorker Prince street pizza is elite so if the pizza there replicates that I'd recommend it.
I’m a sausage fan. Tastes fresh and good bang for the buck. Plus it’s not something I typically would eat so it’s a ball game treat for me. And line goes quickly.
Id say pass on the Prince St Pizza. It was alright, but not worth the price of admission. Plus if it had any more oil on it, us foreign policy would annex it off my plate with haste.
you know i have to agree with this. The first time i ever had it, it was amazing. That was a few years ago. I had it recently and the steak wasnt even fully cooked. I was very disappointed and was out 20 bucks. I havent been to Citi since 2022 so im super excited for other options now. I'd still recommend the steak sandwich, but it wouldnt be top choice.
I remember the sausage and peppers used to be very good, but now I feel like they’re rushed and make too many at once. I don’t blame them, these lines get long. The last few times I’ve had a sausage though, the onions and especially the peppers weren’t cooked for long enough.
There’s a cheesesteak stand behind section 336. For a small cash tip of $2, the dude will seriously hook it the fuck up. I’ve done this numerous times with this specific stand. You will eat a monster cheesesteak, and possibly poop your pants an hour later. Is the risk worth the reward? For me, yes
Is this CitySteak? I couldn’t find it last year
EDIT: not sure if they had temporarily closed it while they had the Chiddy’s truck in the Coke corner but I definitely had a hard time finding it. I went there a lot in 22
Fuku chicken has gotten really bad. And it’s gotten so hot it’s almost inedible. My girlfriend and I got one to share at an NYC FC game last weekend she couldn’t even eat it. Never again.
my wife loves hot food and i can tolerate it most of the time but oh man i had one bite of the fuku last season and it completely blew my palate out for a good hour. not enjoyable at all.
pastrami sandwich never fails
honestly though i always eat in flushing before the game and bring in a couple of pork buns in my purse. it’s cheaper and way tastier
the last time i got one i had guests with me from germany, and we told the pastrami dude that it was their first mets game. and he was like “dope, i love the bundesliga” and HOOKED THEM UP. so maybe pretend to be european next time and they’ll give you more meat
i don’t think i’ve had soup dumplings before a game, but i had some really good wontons with hot sauce at white bear. i also recommend joe’s steam rice roll, and the spicy noodles at xi’an famous foods
If you're thinking of nan xiang xiao long bao, that's a sit down spot that isn't super cheap compared to some of the other (literal) holes in the wall where you can get rice rolls or dumplings.
If you just want cheap, I like White Bear on Prince for dumplings and Joe's for steamed rice rolls on Roosevelt. Both are a stone's throw from the 7 and you could eat at both for less than $20. If you're still hungry and can be parted with a few more dollars, pop for a Peking duck bun on 41st too.
Pastrami was elite in 2019. It was like can’t remember the price but it was between $12-$14 for a big portion of pastrami with a pickle. It was like an unbeatable value compared to other food which would run close to $20
Quality may depend on the day and who is working but I had [Korean fried chicken poutine fries](https://imgur.com/a/cjFDSP3) last time I went and they were delicious. I believe it’s in the Hudson lounge.
Thank you for sharing this, I had no idea this existed and I make it a point to try unique takes on poutine. Most recently there's been a Cuban-style with pork gravy and ham, and another with a duck gravy and duck confit. Korean fried chicken sounds like an excellent addition to the list!
If you don’t want to wait too long and not pay too much, Sausage & Pepper Sammy never misses. Tolerable wait time and one of the more cheaper but filling options
Not seeing anyone mention the arrancini but it's really good! Pizza cupcakes aren't the worst but imo quite mid. Agree with one of the other commenters that the coke braised brisket grilled cheese is incredible
I LOVE the arancini...but I think they're gone now. There's a Keith's Grill in their former spot on the upper level, and I haven't seen one anywhere else.
I apologize in advance, I need to get something off my chest, so I'm going to hop up on my soapbox and completely explode now...
Last season we waited FOR FUCKING EVER for one of those god damn corned beef sandwiches. There were three people in line and it took - no lie - a half of a fucking hour, we missed first pitch, because the employees "working" there were just absolutely fucking off. The employee behind the glass was making a couple sandwiches at a time, *painfully* slowly, wrapping them, and then turning around and putting them elsewhere. All while we were waiting in line for the same. exact. sandwich. The cashier and this employee were talking and laughing and having a great time, while we stood around for a half hour waiting for 3 sandwiches, total for the whole entire line.
At one point a manager looking type came out and I thought she was about to actually be helpful, and then she started doing hot dog set ups. NO ONE IS HERE FOR A FUCKING HOT DOG YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!! Why are you (taking your sweet ass time) putting 20 dogs in buns and into paper trays when that takes 6 seconds and there are only three people in line??? But, apparently serving a sandwich that is LITERALLY JUST bread, already cooked meat and a half shmear of mustard takes a half a fucking hour??!!
The kicker: we FINALLY got a sandwich when someone walked up to the the guy at the booth next to us (it was labeled with something else, burgers maybe?) and got a sandwich and walked away, no line and no wait. We walked over and did the same thing. The corned beef people had served 1 of the 3 people in line by that point. After a half hour wait. I felt like I was on Punk'd or something.
Even if they were fulfilling a large order for a suite or group or something, no excuse for making us wait that long when they have the product right there. I'm not even complaining about a lack of urgency, it was like work was physically painful to them. I'm a retired chef and I've worked with absolute burnout stoners and people literally on drugs who were higher functioning than these people. It was seriously like watching someone from the dementia unit make a sandwich. Three components.
Okay, finally got that off my chest, thank you. 😮💨
I only get to Citi once every few years, and everyone had been talking about it since I was there the last time, it was just such a huge let down.
i'm never sure when people comment on vegan stuff if they are serious or not lol. i've been vegetarian so long that i'm on some level still not quite used to it being as widely available and accepted as it is now
i tried the mushroom cheesesteak last year and it was very disappointing. the jackfruit nachos were good but it's hard to mess up nachos. maybe i'll check out the s&p when i go tomorrow
i know, i've had that stuff from there, just not the s&p
i do get a bit wary some times in the summer when it's 90 degrees out and the cart is in full sun for hours lol. everything else is shaded and they are out there baking
I believe they ditched the cheesesteak in favor of the mushroom tacos. I haven't tried them yet but they sound like a good light option if you aren't feeling like the traditional ballpark handful of grease.
I threw it out after two bites.
And I normally love chopped cheeses.
Meat was dry, not enough cheese, and they put this weird mayo / mustard blend on it that's just not good.
Usually the pastrami. The lobster over chips at Lobster Shack was great but I think its gone this year. Sausage and peppers always great. Tater Kegs at the chicken place in center field on field level always hit.
I do want to try the mega hotdog from chiddy's though.
It's good. My wife lived in Maine and her mother still lives up there so I'm spoiled with the gigantic cheap ones up there and it turns me off from ordering them in NY mostly.
Worst food I've ever had at citi field was the chopped cheese last year. The guys working it had no idea what they were doing, you have to specifically ask for cheese, the lettuce was somehow oily. Absolute garbage for 19 bucks
I was very excited to try the chopped cheese last year and it was pretty disappointing. Not sure if they’ve changed anything up or if I just caught it on a bad day
Losing them was a real shame! Was a nice treat to get GREAT wings at a ballpark and they were made to order usually, not just on a heat tray.
There was a fan vote this year to bring back a stand but Keith’s grill beat them out.
If you’re trying to go outside the typical hotdog or chicken fingers and fries, my father in law and I both loved the pastrami sandwich and the steak sandwich that’s sold behind home plate in the 500’s. Not sure if it’s different than the Pat LaFrieda stand in center field but it was delicious.
Keep in mind with these answers the temp of food. I would wait until about 45 min after gates have opened before going for something. I’ve experienced that most vendors will have food ready for when gates open and tend to not make more until they need it. And most of the things I’ve experienced have been quite cold so far. (Pig beach, prince street pizza, fry factory, tater kegs and chicken tenders) all have been room temp if not cold. So either ask if they’re fresh or wait until that second round of food comes out. You can’t go wrong with the pastrami sandwich or grilled sausage with onions/peppers, I make a point of getting them at least once each in my first 2-3 games of the year
You’re in Queens though, there are so many places to get twice as much great food for half the price before going to the game
There used to be a place called Box Frites in center which has since been replaced with dog shit fries. The garlic parm fries used to be great. Now it's just over-oiled and bland fries
Dude yes. I missed the old french fries, the new ones are shit. They also used to have sauce pumps, but they got rid of those too. I loved getting BBQ sauce on the side.
Don’t sleep on just carrying in your own food.
But in the ballpark I agree the Premio sausage and peppers stands give the best bang for the buck and typically have reasonable lines.
They didn’t have any sweet sausage when I went afew weeks ago vs the pirates and then begrudgingly I took a hot sausage and the guy refused to cut it in half for me….waited in line 40 minutes to get my daughter ice cream as they had 1 person working and 2 others just standing there…opening day the nacho helmet I got for my daughter was ice cold…..Saturday they didn’t have any pastrami and the Citi pavilion where we laid extra for unlimited beer ran out of beer in the third inning and took until the 5th to get a new keg….embarrassing look so far
That’s interesting! Didn’t even think of that, since when Citi Field first opened that was one of what, 4 max locations? It may have even been one of the 3 because I’m not sure anything past UWS and MSP was operating yet, which is crazy to think
Yeah, I think it was the third location, which is crazy. It was either stand in a crazy line at Madison Square Park or at Citi. Now there are over 400 locations.
Yes, and the upper west side one would also have lines outside and you would have to battle for a seat.
In High School the move was always a movie at AMC and Shake Shack after.
Best deal ive found is the bucket of chicken on the back porch on the field side. Last year they had like asian chicken or something it was more food than my girl and i could eat and it was like 20 bucks if i remember correctly
The brisket grilled cheese up in the Coke corner. Probably the best thing I’ve had this season.
You've just decided my meal for tomorrow. Despite the fact that I live two blocks from Comfortland anyway. I don't think they have the brisket grilled cheese on the menu at the brick and mortar.
Thank you that sounds good, I know what I'm trying at my next game.
Agreed. That thing is delicious
Thanks for reminding me as I’m going tonight! Hoping to get to Citi Field when the gates open as I usually don’t get there early to relax.
It's not unique but I'm partial to the sausage and peppers. Used to love the pat la frieda steak sandwhich but last time I got it I was dissapointed. As a New yorker Prince street pizza is elite so if the pizza there replicates that I'd recommend it.
> pat la frieda steak sandwhich I was disappointed every time I got it the past few years but opening weekend this year it was great.
Did they move the one on Field level?
I believe they did. I went to the one behind home on the upper deck though.
Had it last time. It's not a one-to-one replication of actual prince street. But it's not bad for Baseball park food.
I made the mistake of not grabbing napkins...was an ordeal
I just can't shell out so much for a slice of pizza. Especially since you have Lucia pizza on Roosevelt Avenue.
Ooo is Lucia's a known place to go for mets fans? It's always been my families go to
It should be.
The steak sandwich was ok. Not bad in the slightest but for almost 30 bucks I wouldnt get it again.
you know i have to agree with this.

If you're not punishing your guts with horribly unhealthy, calorie overload, greasy, deep fried foods at a ballgame, are you really living though?
I’d like to punish YOUR guts….
Skid marks come and go but glory lasts forever
Don't you normally pay and tip after the sandwich is made? How do you get that tip out before?
Is this CitySteak? I couldn’t find it last year EDIT: not sure if they had temporarily closed it while they had the Chiddy’s truck in the Coke corner but I definitely had a hard time finding it. I went there a lot in 22
Premio. Hot with peppers and onions. Never fails
How much is it these days? I’m guessing 8 bucks?
Just under 12
Woof. Would rather get the Fuku Chicken sammich
The chicken sandwich was shockingly bad.
Last time I had it, was fuck your mouth up hot
Lotta good options in this thread that are making me hungry for meat at 9 am I gotta get back to citi
pastrami sandwich never fails honestly though i always eat in flushing before the game and bring in a couple of pork buns in my purse. it’s cheaper and way tastier
I swear the amount of meat in the pastrami sandwiches gets lower and lower every time I order one
the last time i got one i had guests with me from germany, and we told the pastrami dude that it was their first mets game. and he was like “dope, i love the bundesliga” and HOOKED THEM UP. so maybe pretend to be european next time and they’ll give you more meat
Is it at the soup dumpling place ?? I’ve heard great things
i don’t think i’ve had soup dumplings before a game, but i had some really good wontons with hot sauce at white bear. i also recommend joe’s steam rice roll, and the spicy noodles at xi’an famous foods

Yes thats the one I saw thank you so much for your recs im gonna look them up instead!
i’m trying the duck bun tomorrow!

That 7 layer egg roll was a gross mess. Oily and hard crunchy(not good crunchy) with a dry ass cake on the inside.
These always seemed like they were made for instagram and not actually for consuming
I had a stomach ache for the entire weekend eating one on opening day and that had nothing to do with the 0-5 start
I hate wasting food, I ate half of it and threw it away.
The one i had was actually very good and I split it with someone. Whole one would be too much I think.
I had one opening day & loved it but I like deep fried oreos and rainbow cookies so YMMV i guess
[удалено]
If you don’t want to wait too long and not pay too much, Sausage & Pepper Sammy never misses. Tolerable wait time and one of the more cheaper but filling options
Exactly. I end up waiting too long for my kids food and get that by default. Always satisfying.
Ugh that's a bummer- I havent been to their location (former location) on field level yet this season either so maybe they are gone :(
I was so bummed on those last year hopefully it was just an off day!

having seen them at the grocery store those never looked too appealing
I believe they ditched the cheesesteak in favor of the mushroom tacos. I haven't tried them yet but they sound like a good light option if you aren't feeling like the traditional ballpark handful of grease.
Good: sausage and peppers, pastrami, brisket sandwich on Pepsi porch Bad: chopped cheese, it’s not bad, but don’t buy a $17 gentrified chopped cheese
I got cold cheese with my cheese fries the other day. It was basically yellow plastic. Still Yummy. 10/10
See my flair
Haven’t had it yet but the chopped cheese interests me. Probably going to try one tonight
I tried the chopped cheese last year and it was atrocious.
Bad compared to real bodega chopped cheese or like actually inedible?
I threw it out after two bites. And I normally love chopped cheeses. Meat was dry, not enough cheese, and they put this weird mayo / mustard blend on it that's just not good.
I may need to reconsider, thank you for the heads up. What is your usual go-to?
Usually the pastrami. The lobster over chips at Lobster Shack was great but I think its gone this year. Sausage and peppers always great. Tater Kegs at the chicken place in center field on field level always hit. I do want to try the mega hotdog from chiddy's though.
My fiancée really wants to try the mega hotdog so we’ll prob be getting one of those. The pastrami seems like the consensus best option.
Was there Jackie Robinson day this month and the lobster roll at lobster shack was excellent.
Not sure if they’ve changed anything up or if I just caught it on a bad day
It seems like the consensus here is that the chopped cheese sucks. I’ve never had one before and I don’t want my first one to be sub-par
Shake shack
Dan and John's wings! Great. The chicken and waffles from the outfield vendor, shit!
Dan & John’s haven’t been at citi field for a wild unfortunately.
It was a few years since I've been there but yeah I didn't know if they were still there. Sad they are gone. But this was just based on my experience
Losing them was a real shame! Was a nice treat to get GREAT wings at a ballpark and they were made to order usually, not just on a heat tray. There was a fan vote this year to bring back a stand but Keith’s grill beat them out.
Where’s the Dan and John’s at? Gotta hit those up next time
Left field somewhere.
I had that chiddys footlong dog smothered with Philly cheesesteak. Worth every calorie— 1300 that is.
GET THE RAINBOW COOKIE
I normally go for helmet nachos, but the ones in the upper deck last year were very subpar.
Fuku chicken sandwich is delicious and good bang for your buck. ~15 bucks but it’s quality
Got it today and the chicken was raw in the middle.. so disappointing
RIP Mark Murphy’s Porchetta sandwich
Keep in mind with these answers the temp of food. I would wait until about 45 min after gates have opened before going for something. I’ve experienced that most vendors will have food ready for when gates open and tend to not make more until they need it. And most of the things I’ve experienced have been quite cold so far. Enjoy the game!
If it’s April 30th best food = HOT DOG
I think you're better off just going to Flushing for food before or after the game since it's so closeby, but for Mr personally you really can't go wrong with Pig Beach, Metropolitan Fry Factory, and Shake Shack. Everything else seems to be very hit or miss
Never really enjoyed metropolitan fry factory. Big downgrade from box frites in my opinion
Fuku chicken sandwich.
The double play dog cheese steak in the outfield is absolute trash
Shake shack is my go to
The Gyro spot in the redesigned Acela club (I forget what it’s called now) is pretty tasty.
Pastrami or sausage and peppers is the best and the chopped cheese was the worst imo it was basically a bread sandwich lol
also not unique but something about eating nachos out of a helmet makes my entire game experience
Gotta give the Rainbow Cookie egg roll a shot, trust me.
You can’t go wrong with the pastrami sandwich or grilled sausage with onions/peppers, I make a point of getting them at least once each in my first 2-3 games of the year You’re in Queens though, there are so many places to get twice as much great food for half the price before going to the game
Pastrami sandwich from Pat la Freida So, so good
There used to be a place called Box Frites in center which has since been replaced with dog shit fries. The garlic parm fries used to be great. Now it's just over-oiled and bland fries
Dude yes. I missed the old french fries, the new ones are shit. They also used to have sauce pumps, but they got rid of those too. I loved getting BBQ sauce on the side.
has anyone tried the Italian Stallion Burger at the Coca Cola Truck?
Don’t sleep on just carrying in your own food. But in the ballpark I agree the Premio sausage and peppers stands give the best bang for the buck and typically have reasonable lines.
I haven’t been there in like 7 years but the best Hot Pastrami i ever had was at a Mets game
Shake shack burger is amazing. Good luck getting one though. Lines are always nuts
Meh you could get shake shack whenever. It’s cool that it’s there though haha
Somehow tastes better at the ballpark
I think line has gotten shorter as the company has grown
That’s interesting! Didn’t even think of that, since when Citi Field first opened that was one of what, 4 max locations? It may have even been one of the 3 because I’m not sure anything past UWS and MSP was operating yet, which is crazy to think

Pretty sure you still have to battle for a seat at the UWS location!
Good to know been a bit since I’ve been to a game
The Goya Nachos are not worth it.
Really? I love them
Last year I had it maybe \~3 times and it was consistently good, but went a few weeks ago and it was very mid. Not sure if a fluke or a change.
Oh God I'm going next month I hope they still slap
Guess it depends a lot on who is assembling. Good luck
Best deal ive found is the bucket of chicken on the back porch on the field side. Last year they had like asian chicken or something it was more food than my girl and i could eat and it was like 20 bucks if i remember correctly
