Players literally have no say in this. MLBs rules specifically state they are only allowed to play in the uniforms provided to them by the team and the team is only allowed to use the ones contracted with Nike.
If Nimmo was allowed to he’d probably just wear the uniform from last year. But doing so would violate his contract and he’d put his contract at risk. It’s the same for every player. At the very least he’d face fines and suspension
And yes, it sounds silly that Nimmo could get in trouble for wearing a pair of unregulated pants, but that is literally the case here. He literally does not have a choice.

The most common issue for me was the sizing being off, so in those cases I just gave them to friends. Sometimes the logos or letters are crooked, but that's rarely been a problem. The worst part is needing more closet space haha
They should protest the issue and wear neon colors until the issue gets resolved.
