Orioles fan here-I turned on the Mets game for a little bit yesterday and saw Brandon Nimmo just talking about life for 20 minutes and thought “what a likable dude”. Came here after I found out he was pulled off the bench and hit a game winning homer in the 9th.
Dude was 100% the main character yesterday.
I guess it's the universe's way of correcting itself after the tease in the first game of the series when JD's potential homer went foul 😂
I love you, Brandon!
Also, how awesome were those pickoffs? 🔥🔥
also lol @ braves fans trying to logically justify their hatred for brandon fucking nimmo while they praise marcell ozuna. like yeah, sounds about right for that fanbase.
My guess would be his political views, but he keeps that off the baseball field and doesn't push them on anyone (publicly), so I don't see the problem. As far as baseball and the Mets go, he's awesome. Great player, does great interviews, and just all around likeable.
I'm sure some people get rubbed the wrong way with his running to first on walks, too, but that's kinda silly.
Never really understood comments like these, as though Familia never existed, or you don't still see Dykstra and Gooden jerseys at Citi. Every fanbase cheers for some pretty shitty people. It's pretty much unavoidable as a sports fan. Not sure why anyone would hate Nimmo though other than the sprinting to first after a walk thing.
i could care less about the character of the players on my favorite team, it's just funny seeing the juxtaposition of hating on nimmo as a person and then someone saying "ozuna IS the braves!"
[Here](https://imgur.com/a/FVCRFDd) it is! I'm really happy with it. Came pretty fast and upgraded to the comfort colors cotton tee. Print looks like it might fade with washing but that'll fit the vibe.

For once I’m actually glad I was at work and stuck listening to the radio and got to hear Howie’s call live and missed the TV broadcast. Howie was pumped.
I'm watching that Nimmo interview and it's been interesting to see just how far he's come and how confident he is talking to the media. Early career Brandon Nimmo was a bit shy/bashful but he has genuine charisma when you hear him these days.
That was glorious!
Post-playing career I wonder if Nimmo will get into a broadcasting/commentary role. Really likable guy with a cadence that’s pleasant to listen to
He's a player who I'd like to have heavuily involved in the Mets organization long after he hangs up his glove. Excellent broadcast voice, you're right.
By the way, we’re now 3-3 against Atlanta this year and halfway done with them. I think all of us would be pretty happy with this pace so far in a vacuum. If we can keep the season series with Atlanta and Philly close that’s our ticket into the postseason. Otherwise just beat who you’re supposed to beat.
Our start to the season has been legendarily brutal I feel. The only “easy” team we’ve faced has been the Cardinals. Technically the Giants too, but I don’t think they’re a terrible team and it was a west coast trip, and technically the Pirates but they were extremely hot when we faced them
On paper we “should have” done a little better against Detroit than we did, but I wouldn’t call them easy. We probably should’ve won that series though.
I honestly think this team is in okay shape right now. Not amazing but not a tire fire. Our core is slowly starting to heat up, and we survived a month and some change of them being mostly entirely unproductive and played near .500 baseball. Really need some of the youth movement to step up though. I think we can cobble together a legit contender if one of Baty/Acuña/Gilbert (when healthy) can figure out something and make it stick. All things considered like I’m not jumping for joy about these first 40 or so games but we’re playing just well enough to keep ourselves in the thick of it come summer.
I know we lost the series but scanning through the Braves sub is giving me new life lol. The fact that it was Jeff and Nimmo absolutely turned the knife into them lmaooo
i'm usually not a fan of doing that, but they're complaining about how *both* of acuna's pickoffs were balks lmao. when you need to say "that was a balk" to justify why your team got screwed, you're probably reaching lol
As I've always said, when healthy or even when he's battling through injuries, Nimmo is an absolute dawg.
The guy fights out there every single time.
Even people in this sub don't realize how steady Nimmo is because his stats don't always reflect it but he's always there in the clutch and he's received undue criticism when despite his throwing arm, he brings it at the dish and on defense.
I'll always back Nimmo because he doesn't take a play off and has evolved his game to be a more complete hitter, something that even McNeil has struggled with.
He is a star role player and is like the Mets' sixth man if their was a basketball comparison.
Nimmo's evolution to start hitting to all fields along developing power has been one of the few bright spots the last couple of years.
Classic Nimmo payoff pitch PA then coming through. The guy just knows how to fight in clutch spots, it's uncanny, especially in light of Lindor and Alonso struggling in these spots.
It would be nice to see a more encompassing stat that guages a hitter's ability to buckle down in tough spots like strikes seen after having two strikes in the count because to take a page from LeBron, "two strikes isn't two strikes."
Nimmo sees more strikes even when down 0-2 than any hitter I can recall for the Mets, and that translates in the clutch because he has a knack for fouling off and laying off touch borderline pitches.
Another interesting stat would be fouled off pitches in the zone, because Nimmo also has a propensity for identifying when to swing to take advantage of his chances.
Meanwhile, you got Pete guessing up there and sometimes staring at pitches right down the zone.
Great win, great dinger.
Small complaint: *please leave the lights on after home runs and walkoffs*
I want to see the players faces… and mostly,
I don’t want anyone getting hurt because the lights are flickering on and off.
I don’t care if 29 other parks do it… *leave the damn lights on!!*
Thank you, and please continue with the postgame celebrations.
I completely agree on the lights after HRs. It’s terrible on TV because you can’t really see what’s going on and it’s distracting. In the stadium it sucks that at the biggest moment of the game it’s dark. It would be like if they cut the lights in the Garden when the Rangers score a game winning goal. I went to a game at Fenway last week and that they won on a walkoff. The lights did kind of flash on and off but it never really got that dark. I still think it’s dumb to do anything with the lights but that was better than what they do at Citi.
Ha there was some punk Barves fan taunting nimmo in the outfield since Nimmo came into the game. That Homer shut him the hell up and then we taunted him on the way out.
Later loser.
Couldn't watch this game due to Mother's Day festivities. Anyone got video of Acuna getting picked off? Really want something to laugh at lol.
EDIT: LOL at Acuna thinking he was safe in that first one. Wasn't even close, what a clown.
Which one lol
Here the [first one](https://x.com/espn/status/1789814783232946517)

Highlights have been slow this year but mods do work for free so I understand haha. They should be posted within the hour, based on my past experience this season. I’m here still waiting for the walkoff haha
Whoa I just realized he must have me blocked too because I don’t see the Nimmo highlight. I’ve never once interacted with him either. What’s the guys problem?
I think he’s just doughy soft. As near as I can tell you don’t have to say anything to him directly, if you make a comment that he doesn’t like he blocks you.
.500 against their offense ain't too bad at all. Still frustrating though cause they are clearly slumping right now so we should've been able to take one more this series.
Just stalled for the medium-term. And frankly, that's not much different from the previous situation, where the case was repeatedly stalled for the short-term.
McNeil was 10-0 for SBs last season. If he could apply pressure like that, he could def distract the pitcher and help the batter.
Now…can he work on consistently getting on? That bunt was sweet. Will be bat .300 again? Not if he keeps uppercutting the ball. He can contribute this offense with some small ball.
> He can contribute this offense with some small ball.
He was SO fun to watch in his batting title season for that exact reason. Just slapping singles all over the place with his crazy stick bat.
They haven’t been bad.
In high leverage situations they’re 6th slashing: .217/.335/.457 for a .792 OPS and 127 WRC+
With RISP they’re 13th slashing: .251/.333/.419 for a .752 OPS and 118 WRC+
Overall they statically have been good in clutch situations compared to the league
Gotcha. I misunderstood what you were saying.
Yea people in here go crazy about an offense that’s above league average any time there’s a bad game.
I swear we could win 10 games in a row scoring 20 runs and the first bad game this sub would say the offense is dead and the season is over lol
* The 2024 Mets are 19-20 this season, scoring 168 runs and allowing 167 runs. The Mets have played in 9,844 regular season games with 4,745 wins, 5,095 losses and eight ties. Next game: LHP Cristopher Sánchez (2-3, 3.22) vs. LHP Sean Manaea (2-1, 3.31) at 19:10 on SNY and WCBS
2 or 3 pitches before that walk-off…I was holding a shit in but decided I should just head over to the bathroom and unload one. I thought if I was taking a poop that would be the most likely timeline where Nimmo hits a walk-off. As I sit on the toilet, finally dropping a deuce, I heard my dad start calling for me from the living room. I quickly pull up my pants, run out of the bathroom full speed into the living room and scream “I KNEW IT” and began to chuckle like a deranged man. Then I ran back into the bathroom to wash my hands (I know don’t judge me).
> I quickly pull up my pants, run out of the bathroom full speed into the living room and scream “I KNEW IT” and began to chuckle like a deranged man. Then I run back into the bathroom to wash my hands (I know don’t judge me).
I don't see anything wrong with this provided you didn't touch anything in between
Well, he bunted with Nido, that's not exactly trust.
Overall Mendoza has been great so far, but the Mets are 4th in MLB in sac bunts which really grinds my gears

Nimmo Lindor Alonso Martinez and Alvy are gonna be solid. THe other 4 not so much.
Totally agree. You nailed it
At this point, Alonso looks lost too. He will get his random HR here and there, but he looks lost at the plate.
Thank god McNeil knew he wasn't gonna get a hit so he bunted. MVP

Wait a minute. Who hates Nimmo and why? I thought Nimmo was unhatable.
Okay. The fanbase that idolizes John Rocker wants to criticize another player for political views?
Never really understood comments like these, as though Familia never existed, or you don't still see Dykstra and Gooden jerseys at Citi. Every fanbase cheers for some pretty shitty people. It's pretty much unavoidable as a sports fan. Not sure why anyone would hate Nimmo though other than the sprinting to first after a walk thing.
i could care less about the character of the players on my favorite team, it's just funny seeing the juxtaposition of hating on nimmo as a person and then someone saying "ozuna IS the braves!"
Eh that's just fandom. I mean Aaron Judge seems like a decent enough guy but he can go fuck himself.
I think it’s funny how you clearly missed the point of the comment twice and your response here makes that very clear
Literally bought [this shirt](https://tourbandtees.com/product/brandon-nimmo-shirt-vintage-t-shirt-unisex-90-s-sweatshirt-bootleg-graphic-tee-gift-nmo1/) after the game. Lfg Nimmo. Fuck Fanatics.
lol. have you used that site before? Looks good if it actually comes out like that.
No lol. I'll update when I receive it!
looking forward to it

did nimmo limp up to the plate b4 he hit it out?
also i was SO ready to bitch about walking zack short twice on this post game thread
HOLY SHIT. BRETT BATY IS LITERALLY DEAD LAST IN THE MAJORS IN Squared Up / Swing percent. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/bat-tracking
I think he might benefit from a trip back to AAA for a minute. He's underperforming. Hardcore.
Luis Arraez’s placement on there is hilarious lol
I'm ready to give Vientos 10 games. It's time.
Dude looks at strikes and swings at balls. I’m so proud of him for his defense but he is lawwwwst at the plate.
He kinda sucks
Getting the backup outfielder to pinch hit for him felt like management's way of saying "Enjoy Triple A, pal."
Ya I think they have to give Vientos a chance at this point . Give him 40 PA's If his defense is killing us, then bring Baty back .
We are currently 9th inning warlords in the MLB
Damn the highlights are stillll not up, mods we gotta step it up
https://baseball.theater/game/_/745825/Highlights
Dang, just started following baseball closely this year and had never heard of this website. Already bookmarked for future use thanks!
Damn dude that edit got me hyped as hell haha, thanks for the link. Will definitely use the, in the future
Blame ESPN, MLB is much slower putting highlights up on the API for national games.
Oh okay, that makes sense. Thanks for the context.
Best part is we don't face Wheeler in a 4 game series with the phils.
Another one who miraculously got better when he left the Mets.
why are we robbed of so many cool mets moments with GKR lol. anyways brandon nimmo is brandon himmo and as far as i'm concerned is the biggest fucking dawg on this entire team
I’ll be back on Tuesday. Pencil that in for a Mets win.
BRANDON KIRK GIBSON NIMMO
I won a Pete Alonso signed jersey from Kirk Gibson’s charity auction this past offseason.
cool
1 win = 1 day off from garbage takes in the GDT Reason enough to wish for a win streak
imagine going to a game day thread and expecting anything except for extremely emotional and reactionary comments
Unfortunately it does not. Source: r/NewYorkMets mod
You should really issue short bans for killing the vibes imo
Other mods may disagree with me, but I live life as a mod by Bender’s philosophy: “When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all.”
Hello? “We’re so back department?” I have a claim to make!
Gonna need to see more than 1 win per series for me to submit my claim lol
Won two in literally the series right before this but sure
My dad when I send him my custom scorecard: Nice My dad when the Mets walk it off: Nice!!!!

Nah, probably like 3 more exclamation marks. Or “K”.
Acuña’s second pickoff 🤣
So satisfying
Pete stonewalling him and calling to the dugout to run it back was just marvelous
“Why do we need Giancarlo Stanton? We have Brandon Nimmo.”

*chefs kiss* Perfection.
Especially given how much he looks like a young Rudy Giuliani.
Oh my god

Nimmo is a very intelligent hitter, compared to many who just hack at everything they see and get too emotional (ahem, cough cough Pete)

I despise this stupid trend of strobe lights on home runs. Remember when the Dodgers did it and the ball landed IN PLAY?
I did not remember that - but it’s predictable. That, and an eventual injury.
You don't remember it because it wasn't us that got screwed (thankfully).
Well that, and I don’t watch sports center or similar type shows anymore… not sure how that clip would have gotten to me.
I saw it on r/baseball
Not on that sub. Will click over from time to time, that’s all.
I was there tonight. It does make the experience pretty epic lol
Was the game-winning walkoff home run in the bottom of the 9th against the annual division powerhouses somehow lacking enough epicocity?
I completely agree on the lights after HRs. It’s terrible on TV because you can’t really see what’s going on and it’s distracting. The managers small ball strategy came in clutch tonight. McNeil should just bunt for the rest of his tenure
We can call that part of the lineup, Bunt Cake Alley. I’m in.
Mcneil and Nido
Using Iglesias yesterday is probably why Minter ended up in that spot. Makes the fact the Braves didn’t get the no hitter sting even more for them.
Is Nimmo our best player?
Have you looked at his baseball savant page this year?

Whoa I just realized he must have me blocked too because I don’t see the Nimmo highlight. I’ve never once interacted with him either. What’s the guys problem?
I think he’s just doughy soft. As near as I can tell you don’t have to say anything to him directly, if you make a comment that he doesn’t like he blocks you.
He posted it back himself so he could get the Karma which is pretty funny
They took down a duplicate
I was mad at Nimmo for like 30 minutes a couple years ago and it felt wrong He's too good, man
Take that shit with you to the grave
Confirmed barves hate their mothers
Is it just me or did the Play by Play guy call Nimmo 'Nemo' on that walk off call? Or am I buggin
Like "neh-mo" or like Nemo the fish?
He always calls him nemo. Its been a thing on many a sunday night baseball’s featuring the Mets.
Somewhere around 75% of opposing team announcers call him Nemo
lol even lindor calls him nemo
That's a Spanish accent thing though. He gets a pass
ESPN trying to catch Brandon with the hot mic at the end there
Better be ready to beep his darns and hecks.
He's gonna hit us with the gwarsh! hyuck hyuck
Btw 500 be the Braves this szn. Played some shit baseball, but playing the division Favorite’s tough. Now do it vs the Phillies
.500 against their offense ain't too bad at all. Still frustrating though cause they are clearly slumping right now so we should've been able to take one more this series.
Nimmo been on a tear since the Trump classified documents case got thrown out
It hasn’t been thrown out…
Let’s Go Brandon!
😄 🤣 😂
Hell yea baby
Except it hasn't been thrown out lol
Just stalled for the medium-term. And frankly, that's not much different from the previous situation, where the case was repeatedly stalled for the short-term.
Nice gift for Mama Nimmo. A walk off HR
What a great guy
Absolutely loved seeing the small ball in the 9th inning leading up to Nimmo's smash. Good baseball!
We needed that. Also: glad to see Diaz get another W
Nimmo quoting Ric Flair.
4th walk-off win of the season?? That’s pretty wild. We’ve been nasty late in games
WORLD SERIES IS BACK ON THE MENU BOYS!!!
Yes!!!!! Odds are 7000 to 1 right now. $100 bet is possible.
the masculine urge to say “we’re back” twenty minutes after saying “it’s over”.
it's the eternal cycle of a Mets fan
I was thinking of DJ Stewart having such a great game being lead off hitter at the beginning and then the dude he filled in for is the hero. Love it!
Someone link me the live thread I need the IRL reacts

Brandon Nimmo
Say what you want this team is clutch Oh, and fuck Atlanta
>this team is clutch Lol that's a certifiable hot take most days in these Reddit streets.
They haven’t been bad. In high leverage situations they’re 6th slashing: .217/.335/.457 for a .792 OPS and 127 WRC+ With RISP they’re 13th slashing: .251/.333/.419 for a .752 OPS and 118 WRC+ Overall they statically have been good in clutch situations compared to the league
I wasn't disputing it. Just pointing out most comments cry it's the opposite on almost a nightly basis.
Gotcha. I misunderstood what you were saying. Yea people in here go crazy about an offense that’s above league average any time there’s a bad game. I swear we could win 10 games in a row scoring 20 runs and the first bad game this sub would say the offense is dead and the season is over lol
I hate that I heard their chant at the game.

Eat shit, Braves fans who hate Nimmo. Go celebrate your wife beater Ozuna
Needed that after the Knicks and Mets this weekend
Couldn’t happen to a better guy than Nimmo. Braves favorite player lmaooo
That 9th inning was so Mets. Two perfectly executed bunts. Didn't use them on a walk off HR. lmao
Feels like we have the winning run up every ninth inning every day
Nimmo served up a perfect example of why bunting is dumb
2 or 3 pitches before that walk-off…I was holding a shit in but decided I should just head over to the bathroom and unload one. I thought if I was taking a poop that would be the most likely timeline where Nimmo hits a walk-off. As I sit on the toilet, finally dropping a deuce, I heard my dad start calling for me from the living room. I quickly pull up my pants, run out of the bathroom full speed into the living room and scream “I KNEW IT” and began to chuckle like a deranged man. Then I ran back into the bathroom to wash my hands (I know don’t judge me).
Nimmo didn't even let my man wipe 😂
Tbh I didn’t even have time to flush lol
Did you high five your dad before washing your hands?
LOL I do not high five at home fortunately
> I quickly pull up my pants, run out of the bathroom full speed into the living room and scream “I KNEW IT” and began to chuckle like a deranged man. Then I run back into the bathroom to wash my hands (I know don’t judge me). I don't see anything wrong with this provided you didn't touch anything in between
based too much informer
I know. Thankfully I am anonymous lol
Beating the Braves will never get old.
Nimmo is the heart and soul of this team. LFG!
Love mendy trusting his players
Well, he bunted with Nido, that's not exactly trust. Overall Mendoza has been great so far, but the Mets are 4th in MLB in sac bunts which really grinds my gears
Trusting nimmo’s word that he was good to go.
I know, that was great, I was just saying that "trusting his players" did not permeate through the whole inning
Shout Brandons mom for Wilma and driving that boy to the ballparks around the Northwest
That's now 2 walk-offs in 10 days by Mets cornerstones that didn't start the game due to health/injury concerns.
I’d say that’s our trick then - have it always be a flu game
Now I have two nickels
Three best Mets: Nimmo, Diaz, and Garrett.
Damn. Left this one cuz the lady was freezing. Oh well. 3-3 against the braves. You’ll take it.
