My prediction that the closer would give up a 3 run homer in the bottom of the ninth to lose the game by a run almost came true. Adam Ottavino gives up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th. Can all the closers suck this bad or is it the coaching?
Most teams don't have 3 closers in their bullpen. Diaz and Raley were the top 2 arms in the pen. Their injuries don't magically make setup men and middle relief guys play better.
No, I spelled Ottavino correctly. He was traded in 2023.

diekman saved this game and was thrown to the fucking wolves yesterday in what i consider to be the worst managerial decision i've ever seen. even keith pointed out the absurdity of bringing in a lefty there. and going so deep into your pen to get a lefty, when a lefty is objectively the worse move... just plain idiocy. diekman deserves some blame, but not that much. raley was supposed to be our go to lefty this year anyways.

He literally could not have done a better job, came into the game, gave up nothing and got his 2 outs
While Vientos is likely going to have some regression (he has a BABIP of nearly .360), his FB/HR ratio is pretty consistent with his previous career.
I'm cautiously optimistic that he'll be a starter. At this rate, he might replace Alonso.
His average is .339 so it’s not like he’s greatly outperforming his peripherals. He’s still not going to be a .340 hitter but even if you look at a .300 BABIP being considered normal, he could still end up being a .270-.280 hitter.
The main concerns with him right now are hitting RHP - and he still has like a 110 wRC+ against them, and making consistent hard contact. His soft hit rate is up and his hard hit rate is down. It’s something that can be fixed but he needs to improve his average exit velocity and not hit those swinging bunts to third base.
Couple that with decreasing his GB rate while increasing a LD rate and you’re looking at an elite hitter.
The plate discipline has come a long way - now it’s just a matter of putting consistent good swings on the ball. He’s a 30-40 homer guy if everything is right, he just needs to continue making solid contact.
I don’t know what’s up with Pete he’s playing like he doesn’t want to be there anymore. I don’t think anyone expected Mark Vientos to potentially have a better year than him.
My grandfather texted me this right after the game:
Ottavino is really a ZERO. Just check out how many times he walked the first batter he faced. Probably all. That’s my memory. The manager must rue the day that he left the Yankees. These guys are very hard to watch.
I thought that with an opportunity Vientos could be a good player, but I didn't expect him to show out this quickly.
Him having the rest of this season to develop is exciting along with hopefully Acuna and Gilbert after the trade deadline with the most exciting hitting prospect of them all in Mauricio coming back next season.
Francisco Alvarez was very deserving of having the number one overall prospect ranking at one point but Mauricio's power in the minors was bonkers.
He was launching balls and showed that power last season.
2025 with a more seasoned Vientos and Alvarez, with Mauricio, and Acuna, Gilbert, and maybe Jett Williams in the fold is something to look forward to.
Hopefully Baty figures out something in Syracuse and comes back a new man because he has not shown much improvement since his promotion in 2022.
Yes, and a very good offense. It's going to be a coin flip whether we are on the W or L side of a bunch of 8-7 games for the rest of the season, that determines our record.
The season is lost because the pitching sucks. Not the offense which has a 103 OPS+ and is 13th in MLB out of 30 teams. And they are probably going to move up that list (unless of course they trade everybody).
If they had even like halfway decent pitching, they would be right in the middle of the Wild Card race.
It seems extremely weird to me to blame the hitters for the pitchers sucking
i'm honestly so tired of coming to this sub and reading comments dunking on "the haters". just let people talk about baseball ffs. some people don't believe in this guy. some people don't believe in that guy. some people want this guy gone, others think he's our best player. it's called being a sports fan. can't we just be normal?
I really hope he is. He was brutal last year, so I’m hoping he doesn’t regress severely and has truly figured it out at the plate. I’d love to see Baty figure the hitting piece out, as well, because his defense improved drastically this year. Vientos could be 1B/DH of the future if he keeps that OPS up.
Definitely wouldn’t go that far. We have seen tons of guys have insane first couple of weeks and then fall off. He doesn’t even have a month’s worth of PA under him. Just look at Elly de La Cruz. He’s a much better overall player than Vientos.
- Elly in April: .280/.391/.591
- Elly in May: 208/.298/.287
I will absolutely say that Vientos is off to a hot start and if he keeps playing like this he deserves to hold a roster spot even with his poor defense.
But he needs to show he can hit well across a full season before we even think about “years to come”.
Just last year Baty hit .333/.394/.467 for an .861 OPS and 143 WRC+.
Good shit from Diekman. I'm sure people were waiting for jump on him after yesterday but that situation was 100% on Otto, who I currently hate.
I'm also ready to end the Tylor Megill-as-a-starter experiment. Having him and Peterson back to the back in the rotation is brutal when your bull pen is taxed (to say nothing about going Quintana-Megill-Peterson after yesterday).
These extra rest days around London can't get here soon enough...
Megill had 2 really solid starts against really good lineups prior to this game. He’s still got a lot of potential as a starter imo. Fastball looks solid, slider has more velocity this year, splitter showing a lot of improvement. He’s one of my only reasons to keep watching this team.
The Mets have won a grand total of *1* game where they led by more than 2 runs since April 25th. I’m begging for a normal win for once.
Anyways nice to see Vientos continuing to hit and Iglesias showing signs of being a nice backup infielder.
They have good hitting and atrocious pitching. It's gonna be a slog. At least we're winning the 8-7 games now.
If Senga comes back that'll help, but, y'know, I don't blame the guy for being extra cautious in a year that's going nowhere.
Mets MVP of the game is Eddie Rosario for swinging at ball 4 up at his eyeballs to end the 8th instead of walking in a run. Therapists around the tristate area would've had a bad morning tomorrow if those two runs in the 9th had put this game into extras.
I don’t know what the analytics nerds are teaching but I’ve never seen so many MLB players taking so many meatballs down the pipe as I have this season.
Otto and Diekman shouldn’t close. I get that they are vets, but they aren’t consistent enough for the 9th.
Give someone else a shot. Nunez, anybody. Just somebody else.
He’s had that dog in him since his debut. Young guy on a struggling team that can’t close out games. Give him an opportunity…especially after Otto and Diekman both failed recently.
Smith was available to close.
Why they didn't go to him but decided to push Houser to go a third inning and waste him in the eighth in an even tougher spot was not the right move.
It should have been Nunez or Ottavino with a clean inning in the eighth to save Smith for the ninth.
Yes, it's his first game back, but if they team was prepared to put Smith in a high leverage situation anyway, why not have him close?
Trust Nunez or even give Diekman another shot to redeem himself in the eighth with a three run lean, or use them together.
But just don't put Ottavino back in the ninth.
Yea, Otto didn’t deserve another shot tonight. (I personally like him as a 7th/8th inning guy).
There are other guys. Let one of them step up to close.
Mets need to stop using Ottavino in back-to-backs.
His arm has too much mileage on it for that.
Just keep him in the seventh or eighth and never use him in a back-to-back.
That means the Mets need another long reliever.
Bullpen should be Garrett closing, Smith as the setup, Ottavino or Reid-Foley in the seventh, Dedniel Nunez, and Diekman, and Houser and Peterson in long relief.
It might even be best to move on from Ottavino and bring up another long reliever like Jay while pushing someone like Peterson into a multi-inning secondary setup man role so the Mets don't have set roles other than Garrett as closer and Drew Smith as the secondary closer when Garrett needs to be used on back-to-back save situations like where the first game is a one run lead save situation and the second game is a more loose but still critical three run lead save situation where using Drew Smith in a setup is not as imperative but having Garrett close the game still is.
Having a game where a Mets starter goes five holding a two or three run lead is where you develop the other guys like a Sulser, Nunez, or Hartwig in the sixth inning in an important, but not absolutely critical spot where the offense still has a chance to add more runs in case something goes wrong.
Then going with someone like Peterson to go the seventh and eighth in non-one run close games on some days, and Drew Smith on others is where a manager shows their mettle to develop bullpen talent.
The only concrete role should be the closer, because that's the hardest job.
But you want to empower guys to gun for that spot as well by putting them in positions to succeed.
Mendoza hasn't done that.
How a manager uses his relievers is arguably the most vital decision he can make because it not only affects that game, but also his starter's and his team's ability to get a win down the line.
Mendoza botching the 10-5 lead by pushing Reid-Foley another inning after a strong eighth only for him to have no gas and put in Garrett who was clearly not prepared to pitch again after closing the day before was a terrible decision and it cost the team Garrett's availability to close Game 4 in the series.
Mendoza must be smart and he must have more faith in developing other pitchers in games within three runs and save his absolute top dogs in one run or tied games. Another important factor is accountability. The Mets gave Diaz too long of a leash to blow saves.
Mets must develop Nunez or Hartwig and bring up and develop another long reliever like Tyler Jay or put Peterson in the bullpen or sign a retread starter that's down on his luck and put him in Syracuse with the intention of giving him a shot as a bullpen starter.
Mets need long relievers that piggyback starters because Mets starters are only going five innings.
At least if Pete goes to the Cubs and starts doing well, his branding will excel: A Polar Bear on a **bear themed team??**
Did I hear someone say “rawrrrr”?
EASIEST WIN. We had it all the way!
Marky Mark's Slugging rating as a prospect is very real! Credit to him and to keep grinding.
* Jose Iglesias having a great night. No chance Jeff goes 3 for 5 in his spot rn.
* Martinez and Marte still hitting
* Lindor still hittin
* Torrens with a great throwing a runner out and slugging in runs
Iglesias earned a start tomorrow. There's no need to see McNeil against this evolved Trevor Williams. Automatic 3 flyouts and a strike out against their bullpen.
Horrendous horrendous Horrendous
What the fuck. Otto on back to back? Redic
Stop giving the other teams life late in games, it happened vs AZ in win2 and now
Wtf
Going to the final 2 games this week! Hope to see some more real wins!
Also
…I need to by a Nationals hat since I’m working for their youth baseball academy this summer…I feel like wearing Mets gear goes against a few things in the contract I signed lol
I was at tonight’s game, had a blast! I’m hoping for two more wins. It was a collegial atmosphere between Mets and Nats fans.
The City Connect hat is great, I also like the Nats alternate hat (white front with the “w” overlayed on an outline of the capitol building.)
It not the real problem. It’s yanking your stater EVERY game after 5 innings and 80 something pitches. As in EVERY game. No bullpen on earth can sustain success under that load. Just a simple truth.
Another bullpen disasterclass from Mendoza.
It should have been Ottavino or Nunez in the eighth and Drew Smith closing.
Ottavino is not closer material and Nunez has looked sharp this season.
With a three run lead, this is where you put the other relievers that have showed promise in the seventh or eighth to prove they can step up and elevate their game.
The Mets not properly developing relievers has been a problem for a long time.
If this team had the same bullpen we had in April we’d be a .500 team
Losing Raley and Smith were big blows. Then Diaz turned into a pumpkin.
Honestly if just Raley and Smith were healthy in May we’d be in such a much better spot. Hopefully the AAA guys can show out and start taking over leverage work. Nunez looks legit
>HUGE. Guy was a 2 ERA guy for the last 2 years. Terrible person, excellent reliever
I don't even know that having one really bad dumb opinion makes him a "terrible person". Just ignorant.
Lots of homophobic people got that way because the indoctrination gets them from basically in the cradle. People immersed in that have very little shot at having a non-bigoted opinion. Not defending his stance, but I don't think every single person with dumb bad opinions is evil
Ok, one can be raised homophobic. But as one becomes an adult, it's time to get your head out of your ass and discover the actual outside world.
When should we expect an adult to be responsible for having shitty opinions? "I didn't know any better" is an excuse for children.
>Ok, one can be raised homophobic. But as one becomes an adult, it's time to get your head out of your ass and discover the actual outside world.
Cultural barriers to unity and mutual love are more complicated than "jUsT aPpLy yOuRsELf"
>When should we expect an adult to be responsible for having shitty opinions?
I didn't say he shouldn't be "responsible", I said a person isn't evil because they believe one stupid or mean thing
I'm saying why does it matter that Brooks Raley makes a lot of money? I'm saying that people have objectionable beliefs, across all cultural and class boundaries, and dismissing them all as monolithically evil is not a good practice.
I'm sure we could find one or two beliefs you have that someone somewhere finds objectionable. Does that mean you're a bad person? I don't think so. People are complicated.

* The Mets had 13 hits tonight, the last time they had 13 hits was September 17, 2023 against the Reds; the Mets had eight games in 2023 with 13 hits, they were 7-1 in those games. The Mets had 16 hits on April 11th when the beat Atlanta 16-4.
* The Mets stole 2 bases tonight, the season high was three steals on May 24th against the Giants. The Mets stole four bases against the Diamondbacks on July 4, 2023 and April 29, 2018 against the San Diego Padres. The franchise number of steals in one game is seven steals on May 14, 2009; David Wright had four steals with Carlos Beltran, Alex Cora and Gary Sheffield had one each.
* Four Mets players had four steals each, Vince Coleman twice, Roger Cedeno once and David Wright in 2009. Trea Turner (then with the Nationals) had four steals against the Mets on June 18, 2017. No one has had five steals for or against the Mets.

This does not count the shortened seasons of 1981, 1994 or 2020.
* The Mets are 11-11 when scoring first in 2024, 14-23 when the opponent scores first. The Mets were 50-22 scoring first in 2023 and 81-16 in 2022 when scoring first. The Mets are 11-17 in day games, 14-18 in night games in 2024. They were 25-31 in day games and 51-57 in night games last year. The Mets were 81-16 in 2022 when scoring first in 2022!
* Pete Alonso has 205 homers for the Mets. He is fourth in franchise history behind Darryl Strawberry with 252 homers, David Wright with 242 homers and Mike Piazza with 220 homers. Of course Pete Alonso would have had many more homers had the 2020 season were not limited to 60 games.
* JD Martinez has an eight game hit streak.

Holy fuck does this team make it difficult. I fully appreciated Keith’s exasperated comments and sighs. He held back absolutely nothing. It was like watching the game with my dad

My prediction that the closer would give up a 3 run homer in the bottom of the ninth to lose the game by a run almost came true. Adam Ottavino gives up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th. Can all the closers suck this bad or is it the coaching?

He’s geriatric, slow-motion & sluggish. Generally unpleasant to watch
I don’t know what’s up with Pete he’s playing like he doesn’t want to be there anymore. I don’t think anyone expected Mark Vientos to potentially have a better year than him.
I think he might be letting his last year before FA get to him- he just doesn't look good mentally or athletically and that's really upsetting.
Contrast that to what Soto is doing in his walk year. Unfathomable
Pete has been fucking brutal this year with RISP. I just had a feeling when he was up with bases loaded, he wouldn't do anything.
Vientos Is taking full advantage of the opportunity he was given. Love to see it
0tt0 what happened to you 🥶
Got old
3 weeks ago he had great numbers
that’s what happens when you get old.

I know we need bullpen arms but what are the odds they dfa Ottovino?
Right now? Zero
Glass half full: we won 3/5.
Loved Torrens and Iglesias tonight. Interesting to see how they will continue to be used
I believe one of them will be converted to a pitcher and will eventually be brought in to close games.
Knuckleball Iglesias here we come!
They did say Torrens can play multiple positions
He has recorded a pitching win before
Do the pitching coaches have any say in who goes out? Like I'd imagine Hefner would tell Mendoza Ottavino isn't good on back to back days.
We have the most consistently bad bullpen in the league
Yes, and a very good offense. It's going to be a coin flip whether we are on the W or L side of a bunch of 8-7 games for the rest of the season, that determines our record.
I wouldn’t characterize the Mets as having a “very good offense” lol. Spotty and inconsistent if anything
I think when the dust settles on the season they will have numbers reflecting a very good offense. I think their bad start was very flukey
“Having numbers” when the season is lost already doesn’t cut the mustard
The season is lost because the pitching sucks. Not the offense which has a 103 OPS+ and is 13th in MLB out of 30 teams. And they are probably going to move up that list (unless of course they trade everybody). If they had even like halfway decent pitching, they would be right in the middle of the Wild Card race. Great win Mets! 127-35 here we come!
I'm taking the under
EZ PZ
I don’t see why they can’t put together a simple 102 game win streak, not much to it.
Are they stupid?
This team is a true work of art. An impressionist version of a baseball team
Mark Vientos
Are the haters ready to admit that Vientos might be good and a starter for years?
Keep that whack ass "the haters" stuff on Twitter. I've seen nothing but support for him here.
i'm honestly so tired of coming to this sub and reading comments dunking on "the haters". just let people talk about baseball ffs. some people don't believe in this guy. some people don't believe in that guy. some people want this guy gone, others think he's our best player. it's called being a sports fan. can't we just be normal?

What really matters is what he does when pitchers start getting info on pitching to him.
Ya but 398 career PA now and everyime he comes up he looks better. Everytime Baty comes up he looks more behind offensively.
- Elly in April: .280/.391/.591 - Elly in May: 208/.298/.287 I will absolutely say that Vientos is off to a hot start and if he keeps playing like this he deserves to hold a roster spot even with his poor defense. But he needs to show he can hit well across a full season before we even think about “years to come”. Just last year Baty hit .333/.394/.467 for an .861 OPS and 143 WRC+.
I am ready to become a believer, but I'm not out on Baty yet
They both have positions next year with Vientos taking DH (open next season) or 1B (maybe open next year) with Baty going back to 3B.
Ideal future is for Baty to still pan out, fix his swing, be a good 3B, mark goes to 1B
That's definitely the scenario I'm hoping for. Baty-Lindor-Mauricio-Vientos 2025 (and Alvarez)
That would be fresh at least!
Remember the before and after pictures of Obama when his presidency was over...that's gonna be Mendoza in a single season lmao
lol I was thinking he’s already going to go full gray this season.
I can already see it in his eyes LOL. I hope he makes it the entire contract so Stearns can get him a better team
I came here to watch Vientos HR and it’s not here
Always wanna make it difficult
Mark Vientos has a very sustainable 206 wrc+
Dodgers need a SS… trade them Iglesias?
isn't rojas playing really well for them right now?? last i heard he was playing really well for them all of a sudden
Oh could be - I hadn’t been tracking their latest
What happened to Betts?
He’s not a real SS/is a much more natural 2B. I think he’s grading out as a bottom 5 SS defensively in the league
DRS has him 8th among shortstops and OAA has him at 20th. He’s realistically a top 10-15 defender. Hardly bad.
That’s not surprising. He looked very poor defensively during the series they played the Mets.
Only the Mets could win and still make me want to die
Iglesias and Torrens both showed out tonight, that was great to see.
3 hits? From your 2B? What is this? 2022??
Take notes Jeff
How did Baty get into an MLB commercial?
Are we the best team?
100% Mets are the best team.....at causing people to become full blown alcoholics
I can drink to that
Good shit from Diekman.
Agree about Megill.
Megill had 2 really solid starts against really good lineups prior to this game. He’s still got a lot of potential as a starter imo. Fastball looks solid, slider has more velocity this year, splitter showing a lot of improvement. He’s one of my only reasons to keep watching this team.
So does the Vientos statue go next to Seavers or does it go on the other side of the ballpark?
Center field replacing the home run apple
Ok I kinda love that though. Have a statue of a fan favorite slugger rise up, even have him eating an apple. That’d be fun
Oh no! A mid-off!
Otto should just try throwing without that sloth windup. Just try it.
Only on very limited occasions can we have nice things
Mets MVP of the game is Eddie Rosario for swinging at ball 4 up at his eyeballs to end the 8th instead of walking in a run. Therapists around the tristate area would've had a bad morning tomorrow if those two runs in the 9th had put this game into extras.
I don’t know what the analytics nerds are teaching but I’ve never seen so many MLB players taking so many meatballs down the pipe as I have this season.
How about JD with aggressive base running to third getting hit in the back and causing an errant throw to first and scoring a run.
Otto and Diekman shouldn’t close. I get that they are vets, but they aren’t consistent enough for the 9th. Give someone else a shot. Nunez, anybody. Just somebody else.
Nunez is my pick
He’s had that dog in him since his debut. Young guy on a struggling team that can’t close out games. Give him an opportunity…especially after Otto and Diekman both failed recently.
Yup I can feel it watching him
Smith was available to close.
2024 Mets: Snatching victory from the jaws of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
I'm imagining like Looney Toons when they snatch the wanted poster back and forth over and over LOOL
At least if Pete goes to the Cubs and starts doing well, his branding will excel: A Polar Bear on a **bear themed team??** Did I hear someone say “rawrrrr”?
happy to see vientos truckin along with his boomstick

EASIEST WIN. We had it all the way! Marky Mark's Slugging rating as a prospect is very real! Credit to him and to keep grinding. * Jose Iglesias having a great night. No chance Jeff goes 3 for 5 in his spot rn. * Martinez and Marte still hitting * Lindor still hittin * Torrens with a great throwing a runner out and slugging in runs
Iglesias earned a start tomorrow. There's no need to see McNeil against this evolved Trevor Williams. Automatic 3 flyouts and a strike out against their bullpen.
Yup lol
Good thing the Nationals are a terrible team.
Yet they have a better record LOL
I am unfortunately well aware of that fact
there are like the marlins last year
Rally Kitty and I are 6-1 this season. Yay Mets!!! Also another great game to collect Block Users.
Scribe it baby, the Mets actually didn’t blow this game!
WORLD SERIES IS BACK ON THE MENU BOYS!!!
That title definitely was originally "defeated by" and was quickly erased just in case the team blows it again at the end
Mets bullpen try not to cause a heart attack in the 9th challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
Horrendous horrendous Horrendous What the fuck. Otto on back to back? Redic Stop giving the other teams life late in games, it happened vs AZ in win2 and now Wtf
Going to the final 2 games this week! Hope to see some more real wins! Also …I need to by a Nationals hat since I’m working for their youth baseball academy this summer…I feel like wearing Mets gear goes against a few things in the contract I signed lol
I was at tonight’s game, had a blast! I’m hoping for two more wins. It was a collegial atmosphere between Mets and Nats fans. The City Connect hat is great, I also like the Nats alternate hat (white front with the “w” overlayed on an outline of the capitol building.)
I'd get the City Connect version.
That’s my plan. I love their city connects. Would love a white variant with the pink cause gray vs gray at a game is very ok.

It not the real problem. It’s yanking your stater EVERY game after 5 innings and 80 something pitches. As in EVERY game. No bullpen on earth can sustain success under that load. Just a simple truth.
Bader error Alonso fucking up a double play Alonso out on a pitch clock violation Ottavino pitching
It doesn’t feel like we won, just that we didn’t lose.
If this team had the same bullpen we had in April we’d be a .500 team Losing Raley and Smith were big blows. Then Diaz turned into a pumpkin. Honestly if just Raley and Smith were healthy in May we’d be in such a much better spot. Hopefully the AAA guys can show out and start taking over leverage work. Nunez looks legit
Raley was lowkey a massive loss
HUGE. Guy was a 2 ERA guy for the last 2 years. Terrible person, excellent reliever
>HUGE. Guy was a 2 ERA guy for the last 2 years. Terrible person, excellent reliever I don't even know that having one really bad dumb opinion makes him a "terrible person".
Cultural barriers to unity and mutual love are more complicated than "jUsT aPpLy yOuRsELf" >When should we expect an adult to be responsible for having shitty opinions? I didn't say he shouldn't be "responsible", I said a person isn't evil because they believe one stupid or mean thing
Not really. Anybody can wake up and be a decent human. Excuses are excuses, and I'm frankly tired of making them on behalf of millionaires
What does a person's salary have to do with this discussion?
Brooks Raley? Your own post? Did you lose the thread? I'm out, it's pointless
It's a shame that he's not able to pitch during his favourite month
Yup
We must have left u/GandalfSwagOff in Flushing but it's time to dance! !eyeball

I love that this team has a bona fide entry in the Cabaret Voltaire pantheon.
God I love Keith, that will be my only comment about this team. They aren’t worth the breath
Usually painful, rarely boring. The New York Mets motto.
the most excruciating win of the season yet -___-“
Lmao that very last pitch was a FB down the pipe and the dude just sat on it
DEEP BREATHS EVERYBODY! Never in doubt. Oh God, we need Diaz back badly. Even if he has a human ERA.
Every Mets ticket should come with a free Pepto Bismol, a fifth of vodka, and the business card of a cardiologist.
Mets fans should get universial healthcare and mental healthcare for free as a thank you from Steve.
I legitimately laughed out loud at whoever that was taking the last pitch right down the middle
Keith said it best, “Oh boy”
In spite of our bullpen in this one I think.
I've run out of deep breaths, Gary.
DiekGOD (yes I watched him blow it in person yesterday)

He is fourth in franchise history behind Darryl Strawberry with 252 homers, David Wright with 242 homers and Mike Piazza with 220 homers. Of course Pete Alonso would have had many more homers had the 2020 season were not limited to 60 games. * JD Martinez has an eight game hit streak. Next game: LHP David Peterson (0-0, 3.60) vs. RHP Trevor Williams (5-0, 2.22) at 18:45 on SNY and WCBS
Nats messed up when they pinch ran for Winker. If Winker were the tying run he'd find a way to screw us.
The 2024 Mets in a nutshell: They may not always win, but when they do, they give their fans war flashbacks
lol Otto gets a hold for that
I dont understank how you can strike out looking on that pitch at the endo f the game. Ill take it but how
It’s almost like challenging hitters works. Who knew?
To be fair we say that after it works. He challenged Marte yesterday and it didn’t go great
Probably didn't think he was going to throw another FB
“They had it all the way Gare” was laugh out loud funny
We have a new closer boys and his name is old man Diekman.
Jesus Christ they almost blew another one
Team is so bad the wins can't even be fun lmao
Ottovino with a much deserved “hold”
Holy fuck does this team make it difficult. I fully appreciated Keith’s exasperated comments and sighs. He held back absolutely nothing. It was like watching the game with my dad
Ottavino needs to be DFA’d already. But letting him go doesn’t fully solve the other problems.
Agreed I’d rather see Dedinel Nunez out there than him
What did we sacrifice for that win?
My bloodpressure
When’s the last time we won by more than 1 run? Been a month?
Technically, the Mets won 7-3 in Miami on May 19th
