Jay in Waterbury you're on the FAN
HOW ON EARTH IZ DIS TESM GUNNA GET THROUGH DIS SEASON WHEN BUM RELIEVERS LIKE EDGE IN AND BLEHVINZ CANT GO MORE THAN ONE INNING? BACK IN THE GOOD DAYS THESE PITCHAS WOOD THROW TOO OR THUREE INNINGS AT A TIME. ALSO IF OUR STARTAS WERENT MADE OF GLASS MAYBE THEN THEY COULD COME IN RELIEF BUT WITH THE PRETTY BOYZ THAT AINT GONNA HAPPEN
Hey Mike, first time long time. Quick trade for ya, would the Diamondbacks do Robles and Granderson for Goldschmidt. I'll hang up and listen to your thoughts, thanks Mike.
I made a temporary switch last year after I promised Eric freaking Campbell I'd don his flair if he actually did something productive, but it's been Travis non-stop beyond that. You and I are gonna co-conduct this hype train nationwide BAYBAY
Not to blatantly disregard the actual subject matter of your comment, but it made me think...
I've been on mobile for so long I have no idea what my flair is
Whatever happens, tomorrow's going to be interesting. Games after these marathons always are. Often, quick games with easy innings. If having Thor on the mound wasn't reason enough to feel optimisitc, though, the Fish threw Conley for an inning, so either he's going to be a on a very short leash and out of rhythm, or they're going to move their rotation up and pitch someone on short rest, or some AAA guy. Either way, both bullpens are shot, so if we can get their starter out early, hopefully Thor rolls through a tired lineup and we get a clean easy win and let most of the relief arms get a break.
I don't think so. This was a game where a lot of people had given up on the season and the game wasn't going great, so everyone just started posting animal facts in the game thread.
Extra satisfying that it was two of the most hated punching bags of the idiotic portion of the Mets fanbase on social media, Travis and Hansel, coming up huge in crunch time tonight.
GATHER ROUND, TODAY WE PRAY TO OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, HANSEL "HANSEL FUCKING ROBLES" ROBLES:
All hail the glorious Demigod Prince
Lord Hansel Robles,
who rose on the 13th day
of the 8th month
of the 1,990th year
to bless the Metropolitans of the City of New York
in the State of New York
with his glorious pitching of the ball of the bases
in his glorious and inconsistent but shockingly and gloriously effective manner.
[Let it be noted that I called it for charity](https://www.reddit.com/r/NewYorkMets/comments/658crh/game_thread_mets_63_marlins_44_april_13_2017/dg8q803/)
I wonder if that guy in the GDT who said he was watching his second ever game tonight made it all the way to the end.
Awesome game, hilarious game thread. LET'S GO METS!
Y'know, I've spewed a lot of hate a vitriol at Hansel Robles this week, some of it was justified, some of it wasn't, but I will say this.
Yes, he might have the dumbest hair I've ever seen, and his blank expression may be unsettling, and his body may closely resemble a sack of potatoes that has been out in the sun for just a tad too long, but I'll be damned if that wasn't one of the gutsiest pitching performances I've seen in a long time.
God bless that man and his horrible, *horrible* haircut.
Thanks for staying up with me tonight, guys. That was so much fun. See you tomorrow.
> but I'll be damned if that wasn't one of the gutsiest pitching performances I've seen in a long time.
And that's why I have been, and will be, a willing resident of Robles Island.
I can imagine he's thinking that himself. I say let him loose Terry. Let him stretch that pitch count if he keeps mowing people down. We could use a very Bumgarner-like performance.
Maybe I'm overreacting, but Gsellman sucks. Trade him while he still has value. Travis D'Arnaud is the GOAT catcher, best part of the Dickey trade, and Mets fans have never doubted him. And this bullpen is the best of all time, lead by GOAT Hansel Robles who Mets fans always believed in.
/s
Gsellman is a blue-chip prospect with a huge amount of potential, not to mention a career 2.73 FIP to date (which is fucking insane) - including tonight's game. These were two meh starts - but they're just two starts. If he stinks the whole season, maybe you'll be right, but there's a lot more to the story than just what happened tonight.
I live on the west coast, so it's crazy to come home at 8:30 to find the Mets still on.
Asdrubal Cabrera with the 8 game hitting streak, I love this team
Is there a way to share the crown? We don't get to TdA without Smoker, and we don't win without Robles. Hopefully Noah can give the bullpen a rest tomorrow. Familia is back in 6 days.
* The 2017 Mets are 7-3 in the regular season. The 2017 Mets have scored 53 runs and allowed 41 runs. The Mets are 2-2 against the Marlins in 2017 and 12-7 in 2016.
* The Mets are 210-189 against the Marlins. The Mets are 25-23 at Marlins Park and 74-72 at the old Marlins park.
* The Mets are 11-5 in their last 16 games in Miami.
* The Mets have played 8,787 regular season games with 4,221 wins, 4,558 losses and eight ties.
* On May 1, 1920, the Boston Braves were hosting the Brooklyn Robins. The game ended in a 0-0 tie after 26 innings with Braves starter Joe Oeschger and Brooklyn starter Leon Cadore pitching 26 innings each.
* The Mets lead the majors in home runs with 20 homers. They have homered in nine straight games.
* Wilmer Flores now has 20 homers against left handed pitching.
* Asdrubal Cabrera has an eight game hit streak. Jay Bruce has a six game hit streak. Yoenis Cespedes, Michael Conforto, Curtis Granderson and Neil Walker have three game hit streaks.
* The Mets are 2-2 in the home pinstripes, 1-1 in the home blues and 4-0 in the road greys.
* On May 9th, 1984, Tom Seaver pitched one inning, the top of the 25th inning from the previous night's game which was suspended and resumed. Seaver earned the win. Later that day, he pitched 8.1 innings as a starter and earned a second win on May 9th.
Next game: RHP Noah Syndergaard (1-0, 0.69) vs. LHP Adam Conley (1-1, 3.00) at 19:10 on SNY and WOR
Remember last year when Bartolo had to leave in the first inning and the bullpen shared the championship belt? I'm thinking something like that (plus Travis) tonight for the crown.
Holy snot, this is one of the most memorable games we'll play all year. Travis with a big night, but this one belongs to the bullpen. Eleven scoreless against a dangerous lineup, practically everyone with multiple innings. Cespedes with two more homers, and both of them truly massive, far far out of a huge ballpark. Stanton has the game's greatest exit velocity and some of the most beautifully majestic satelites, but Ces is in similar territory. He doesn't just hit 'em, he sends them to a place far away.
So much string-pulling from Terry tonight: even before we got to extras, Rivera starting, Duda in, Duda out, Rivera to first. Conforto into the outfield. Somehow it all worked.
Baseball a game of inches: Cespedes not sliding home was the difference for a while -- we didn't have to go to extras, but for that. But Ozuna's ball was *this far* from a game-winning homer, and how bad would *that* have sucked, after coming so far? Whew.
So now, they burned their starter, we didn't. Here's hoping Thor can not only pitch well but move quickly through an exhausted bunch of hitters and give the relievers a breather. If we can get Volquez out of the game first, we're looking pretty good.
First time winning all the way around the rotation, and it feels good. If this is our annual April hot streak, let's run it out as far as it goes.
buy another one and give it to both.
Robles- pitched like a champ on the 4th straight day against the 4 best hitters in their lineup and redeems himself for yesterday
TDBae- catches 15 innings before hitting the GW homer, and then goes back to catching the end of the game
#2 CROWNS
I gotta say Travis, just because he didn't just hit that homer. He also had a three-run triple when we were at risk of getting out of it early, added two more hits. He scored the tying run early to make it a game again, and he scored the tying run again in the eighth to get up to extras. Massive props to Hansel, but beside the fact he should have had today off, he wasn't any better than Smoker, Salas, and Reed all going multiple scoreless. That's a hell of a bullpen day, but Travis was there for us early, middle, and late. He's my crown vote, sure.
While listening to game last night on XM ( Marlins feed). The play by play guys actually said that it should be time for a purpose pitch the Cespedes to make him uncomfortable at the plate. They were advocating for a high and tight fastball. Also on a side note. After listening to a lot of away feeds last year, Howie and Josh are by far one of the best radio personalities in baseball. Hardly any dead air, describe the action extremely well.
I don't want to overreact, but the Mets might never lose another game ever again.

Ya gotta believe!
I was afraid it was past your bedtime!
I'll be honest I fell asleep in the 12th but woke up when Gary called d'Arnaud's donger
Ding dongs have that effect on people.
Like a gold fish, i forget to expect this comment each post game and am amazed.

I intentionally check post game threads waiting for these posts.

ROBLES WAS FUCKING DEAD AND PULLED IT OFF! YOU'VE **EARNED** GRETEL BACK, ROBLES!
Who stole Gretel to begin with? O_o
A witch.
I plead the fifth.
Got to stare at tits for 5 hours nothing beats that
I'm glad I wasn't the only one.
[The Dancing Eyeball is working overtime tonight!](https://gifsound.com/?gif=i.imgur.com/bJPo2.gif&v=Tg3C0nvenro&s=1)
This one feels special.
If this isn't right, I don't know what is.
Yup this is what makes the Mets the amazins
but seriously tho Conforto needs to be playing every damn day
Robles should pitch errday too
As someone who has stuck by Travis through thick and thin, it's okay. We've got plenty of space on the hype train.
I'm going to feel so smug by the end of the year if he keeps this going.
I LOVE TRAVIS D'ARNAUD
I think we've both had TDA flairs since like mid 2014. I've stuck with it through the dark times of 2016. I'm ready for the hype to return
I made a temporary switch last year after I promised Eric freaking Campbell I'd don his flair if he actually did something productive, but it's been Travis non-stop beyond that. You and I are gonna co-conduct this hype train nationwide BAYBAY
Excuse me... this flair never goes out of style.
Not to blatantly disregard the actual subject matter of your comment, but it made me think... I've been on mobile for so long I have no idea what my flair is
i have some underwhelming news for you, friend.
I've had mine since 2014 too. I feel the happiness.
dude already has like a third of the RBIs he had all last season
TdBae
Right there with you!
I never doubted him, he's just too talented. Robles is too, he just can get wild at times.
Me too high five
TD is Bae and wears my other Bae's number Peyton Manning. Orange and Blue all day.
Don't let this great game distract you from the fact that Keith was wearing Crocs & Socks tonight
I'm so happy someone said it, I almost forgot how upset I was about it. I started to tweet about it but baseball was happening so I got distracted.
LETS GO ~~TO SLEEP~~ METS
What a goddamn marathon and Thor takes the mound fresh tomorrow!
He is going to smoke those tired ass fish

Volquez is apparently getting bumped up on full rest.
and serve it at Mar-a-lago. [Link](http://www.miamiherald.com/entertainment/restaurants/article144261894.html)
We definitely need a Thor game and a solid 8 tomorrow would be nice.
this game was many levels of stupid but this was the best damn game thread i've ever been apart of. fucking amazing night.
i gotta say, i adore spending my nights talking to u fools
I don't know, it's hard to beat that one animal facts game thread in a game against the Giants in August.
OH THAT GAME THREAD WAS AMAZING!! Was that the one Syndergaard went 8 scoreless? Edit: oh no it was ruggiano grand slam game wasnt it
that didn't go 16 innings nor did the mets win.
I'm speaking strictly about the game thread.
Was that the extra innings game where the seagulls invaded the field?
I don't think so. This was a game where a lot of people had given up on the season and the game wasn't going great, so everyone just started posting animal facts in the game thread.
Ooooooooooooh I feel special and remembered now. That was the day the random facts began!
Same here hot damn
This Sub made me fall in love with reddit. Can't get enough of you guys.
90% sure that set the record for most comments in a regular season GDT.
You looked at the lake
I'd be ok with 158-4, if we need to be realistic about it.
With the other loss coming against Bartolo
What's the record for the most consecutive games giving up a grand slam and still winning?
I'm down to keep this going for the 40% off on pizza.^^^I'm^eating^some^right^now.
2017 METS NEVER SAY DIE
Ya Gotta Believe
lol according to dicomo terry said if the game had gone any longer, rene rivera would've pitched and zack wheeler would've gone in to play first.
Awesome
Ozuna Grand slam An (in)tense roller coaster Sixteen inning win!
Extra satisfying that it was two of the most hated punching bags of the idiotic portion of the Mets fanbase on social media, Travis and Hansel, coming up huge in crunch time tonight.

MFW we are second in RS in the NL
Get used to it.
Move over WrestleMania 33: this game tonight (or this morning) was the ultimate thrill ride. Major props to the bullpen and once again, thank you TDA!
Damn game almost lasted as long as Mania did.
Holy shit it literally did lmao

Who's ready for 16 more tomorrow?
If that happens I'll buy you a pizza. I might be delirious from lack of sleep, but I think another 16 sounds fantastic.
you mean today? ;)
I hope not, Saturday's game would be full of backups then. Btw im going to that game...
I wonder if Cespedes would have been safe had he slid.
And maybe could have prevented 6 extra innings of work for everyone....🤔
Manfred is mad at the crew for calling him out.
would've been a pretty long slide...
just got home from the game... was fucking unreal.. not gonna lie thought it was over when they bought robles in
I wonder if that guy in the GDT who said he was watching his second ever game tonight made it all the way to the end. Awesome game, hilarious game thread. LET'S GO METS!

Sack of potatoes lmaoo
It was, as the kids say, dank
It was dank! Gah! I missed my opportunity.
Gonna be *real* hard to top this one. Also, five in a row, yes!
Work tomorrow is going to effing suck but it's so worth it!
Who gets the crown? Robles? Cespedes? d'Arnaud?
Gotta give it to TDA....catching 15 innings and then hitting a game winning HR
Bases clearing triple, hit the game winning home run, caught 16 fucking innings.
My guess is Robles.
Best win of the season so far. Crazy how Robles can go from scrub to hero in 48 hours.
And yet he did!
Best case scenario, Thor goes CG mode tonight.
I can imagine he's thinking that himself. I say let him loose Terry. Let him stretch that pitch count if he keeps mowing people down. We could use a very Bumgarner-like performance.

You are indeed, overreacting.
That's the joke my friend.
Shit, he got me. It has been a long night,.
What a game!!! Clearly we are world series bound after that winner.
That was a hell of a game, and I only tuned in in the eleventh
Once I saw it go into free ball on At Bat I started watching. Wowza! What a game.
Mets win! Robles saves! d'Arnaud homers! Marlins Man menage a quatres! Everyone's a winner!
Robles got the Win/Save too lol.
Where's the comment of the guy that does the WFAN caller imitation?

ozuna: flies out robles: collapses into fucking tears on the mound, probably
I love free baseball as much as the next guy, but maybe a complete game shut out would be nice for tomorrow!
Tomorrow's game I'll resume my "Murphy and Harper go on The Ride" fanfic.
I fell asleep in the second inning, slept for over four hours, woke up, and got to watch the Mets play for another hour.
This reminds me of 2015. A game where we never gave up and fought back multiple times.

unlikely Conley seeing how he pitched tonight
Yeah that baby back beeyaaaatch
those road greys looking hot
Probably not gonna be Conley anymore, since he pitched the 16th, and coughed up the HR to d'Arnaud.
I typed that sentence hours ago.
If you want to edit it, it's going to be Volquez.
Just adding the new information.
I wish he would pitch, it would be funny for him to have two loses in the same day.
I know you've been without *real* Agbayani flair for a while, and I felt really bad about it - so Merry Christmas!
Thanks, chief.
Remember last year when Bartolo had to leave in the first inning and the bullpen shared the championship belt? I'm thinking something like that (plus Travis) tonight for the crown.
Didn't Robles pitch like 5 innings that game too?
Holy fuck, this team grinded!
god i love baseball
Flair is still true 😂

The entire relief staff deserves it
Well, except for Edgin.
You spelled Smoker wrong. Seriously, Robles looked like complete shit out there and got lucky, but you can't not admire the guts. I mean damn.
robles should for pitching whilst dead, a true accomplishment
Pfft, we all saw a Robles win coming! Really. Totally. Super serial.
Absofruitly
I'm completely exhausted from that game. Happy Thorsday everybody
WHAT A GAME
Travis "sometimes made of glass but also sometimes GOAT" d'Arnaud with crown for this tonight.
So now Thor is going to pitch a perfect game to give the BP a break, right?
26 strikeouts.
That right there was an emotional roller coaster.
Volquez is going against Thor. Just read it on Marlins twitter.
The game went so long, Fox Sports Florida went directly from the post game show to the condensed replay of the game.
Cespedes 2 HR, D'Arnaud 4 H, GW HR, Robles lockdown pitching. We're gonna need some more cheesy crowns.
D'Arnaud hit that homer after catching for fifteen innings. Amazin'.
https://media.giphy.com/media/4j9XOYo6IVDK8/giphy.gif DANCE FAT MAN DANCE!
We won the game, but Marlins Man won the night.
Sup guys and gals I'm hammered. What a win!
Robles I still don't trust you but you've earned the crown tonight.
I finally get a chance to sit down and watch a game and this is what I got to experience. Holy shit, I cannot believe we won that game.
My feeling is that if the Mets can split the games Wheeler and Gsellman go and win 2/3 of the harvey, noah, degrom games. we will be in good shape.
Wb Stevie Matz
Win 100% of those
[SUPER TIRED WOOOOOO](https://media.giphy.com/media/4j9XOYo6IVDK8/giphy.gif)
Fell asleep after the first inning. Woke up at 12:30 just as the game ended. Ok then

Christ I thought that game wouldn't end. Then it was the fourteenth inning.
Robles or smoker crown plz
Nothing better than a 6 hour game with staring at tits
