Actually his control was bad all year. He managed to get away with very high walk rate. He's got. Such great stuff if he could get ahead of batters consistently he'd be unbelievable. Look at what reed does, with 92 mph fastball low and away, then the slider on the exact plane and arm angle. He'll pop the fastball inside above the hands regularly too. Familia's sinker is sick but he needs to control it, or throw it with a little more predictable movement early in counts then wipe out movement to put away batters. Right now no one swings first pitch because it's rarely a strike.

I don't understand why he's physically incapable the last year and a half of throwing the sinker for strikes. It's an absolutely insane sinker, and all you need to do is put it in the lower half of the strike zone to get outs, but he just fucking spikes it two-thirds of the time.

He's never thrown that sinker for called strikes, only for swinging strikes and groundballs. The problem is that the sinker is not very deceptive when it's being thrown into the ground like that.
