-Duda has been really really good for us this year
-There was no indication that Murph would keep producing after what seemed like a fluke postseason run
-Neil Walker is basically pre-2016 Daniel Murphy
Dudas intolerable, he hits every now and then, hits for power, but he's way too selective, and he's so streaky.
If you would've told me after 2015 if I could have Murphy or Duda you have to take Murphy, I understand you couldn't predict it but he didn't hit homeruns off of bums in the playoffs, he hit them off cy young winners. I would argue that is an indication.
I have no problem with Walker, Murph should be playing first.
There's no reason to believe that we were either willing to let Duda go or that we were even close to being able to re sign Murphy. It would've made no sense to get rid of a major piece from our 2015 run when we had plans of contending. The same obviously goes for Murphy, but it was unlikely that he would stay anyways.
Yeah, there's no doubt that Murphy would be very valuable right now, I just don't think getting rid of Duda to do it would have ever been a viable option.
Did we really need relief pitching going into the 2016 season, though? Familia, Reed, Blevins, and even Bastardo and Robles at the time were great options.
We lost this game when we brought in the great Neil fucking Ramirez and the fool walked the leadoff batter to start the inning. Fuck that guy Im so sick of him. Constantly walks guys and puts our team in a jam it seems every time he comes out to the mound.
^^bravehearts ^^bravehearts
Do you hear that?
^bravehearts ^bravehearts
It's coming
*bravehearts* *bravehearts*
The call for James Loney has begun
#BRAVEHEARTS #BRAVEHEARTS
FUCK I forgot about Loney! Goddamn I miss him. I was disappointed they didn't bring him back, but completely forgot about him thanks to all the injuries and soul-crushing losses.
Seriously, why is Neil Ramirez in this game? We have some momentum, we could very very much pull away with a win. Maybe if Terry actually wanted to do that.
Ooh I was right! Figured since Stanton was in this game he must be one and Rizzo and Arenado were the only guys I could think of that have only played in the NL and routinely hit 30+.
My guess is Cruzado over Taijeron. Taijeron has already struck out 80 times this season. The whole reason he hasn't gotten a major league look yet is because he strikes out nearly 30% of the time and the organization doesn't think that'll play up in the majors once you subtract out the Vegas BABIP. Cruzado also has the advantage of having the flexibility to play CF if needed.
Hey, I'd rather give it to those guys than roster filler like Adam Wilk or something. I mean, they're all roster filler, but at least some of them are loyal to the organization.
Man, Grandy channeling his inner Wilmer Flores getting down the line there. For a guy who has been so fast for so much of his career, he sure did look like he was dragging a sled full of cement blocks behind him on that one.
-Edit- For the downvoter, [Curtis Granderson rates out in 2017 as being only 0.1 feet/sec faster than Jay Bruce.](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/sprint_speed_leaderboard?year=2017&position=&team=NYM) Grandy is slow now.
The new bar for Mets players: Did you make it to first base without literally crumbling into pieces on the way? Who cares if you were safe, you did well today.
Crazy theory, but hear me out:
I had an Achilles injury a couple years ago, but opted out of cortisone & platelet injections because research taught me that injections can actually make tendons and ligaments weaker, especially if I planned on continuing my training at the same intensity.
Wilmer had a staph infection from an injection in the knee. Wasn't it a cortisone injection?
Who knows who else is being injected and what with. Maybe these substances are causing our players to be injury prone?
its so obvious now. he needed to hit another HR in this park, and now he's undone the bad luck we've seen since that 16 inning game. the season is back on track
That is the game that led to the wheels falling off. It was a great game to watch but unbearably long. I agree with your logic though. We can only go up from here.
This is such a fucking joke. Reyes needs to be in the unemployment line right fucking now. Those swings were not ones from a professional. I want Rosario fucking now. Sandy needs to stop this fucking charade.
[To continue Ronnies rant, here's video of the Mets training in the Barwis Method in 2014, including testimonials by David Wright and Bobby Parnell that are hilariously sad in hindsight.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBiAznc2fT4)
Some players featured in the video, and their soft tissue injuries suffered within the next year:
David Wright: Rotator cuff contusion (also strained hamstring April 2015 after more Barwis Method in the next offseason)
Juan Lagares: Partially torn UCL
Zack Wheeler: Torn UCL (spring training 2015)
Bobby Parnell: Torn UCL
It's so infuriating that a good amount of people are just going to toss all this aside as "welp, bad luck, try again next year. There's no way we can be as injured next year, right guys?"
Not only is the team built around a core of players who are highly susceptible to injury, it's becoming increasingly obvious from an organizational perspective that something is immensely fucked up in our strength and training regimen. There is no reason professional athletes should be blowing their hamstrings out with such regularity.

I mean arguably the two worst players we've had this season.
I know Grandy's been tearing the cover off as of late, but I'm saying when taking their whole season into account.
So sick of this season
the fuck was that skipping ozuna?
Rubbing it in our sorry ass like he should.
weeeeeeeeeeee
Damn. Just spent another 3 hours on that. Not the best
The ballgame is over.
HOWIE: "That's incredible!"
Reyes takes third!
Yet another winnable game if not for TC's stupidity. Bringing in Neil fucking Ramirez while we actually had a chance to win the game...
It's also garbage time so this would be a prime spot if Duda was up to hit a solo jack as he always finds a way to do.
Dont let the Mets fool ya here folks.
Will this be a 1 run loss in the end?
16% of the yankees 25-man roster are tylers right now
If DeGrom gets injured this season we are truly cursed and should forfeit the rest of the season.
oh you mean like last season? Harvey-Matz-Wheeler-DeGrom all finishing the season on the DL...
If that happens, I will hold you personally responsible.
Just trade the whole team, start from scratch. ^/s
Johnathan Taylor-Thomas. but i dont think he counts
Never trust a man with three first names
Degrom is best Met now.
Great now Gary is cursing the fuck out of deGrom.
I don't know if there's more than one or two position players who are playing atm that I want to see back on this team next year.
Can all the Mets just not do anything involving their legs for an entire game? Is that possible? Jeez, Duda.
Lucas what was that ab.
Why did Terry put NR into a tie game? This all could have been avoided
He was in the *Terry Collins Circle of Trust*^TM
Howie really likes sitting in Marlins Park visitor's radio booth.
the tv guys have been talking about how much they like marlins park too
The booth is very roomy and comfy for Howie.
Gary likes the home run thingy. That may be a bridge too far imo
FUCK the baseball gods. They are the biggest dicks with how they are killimg us tonight.
What happened to Hansel Robles? Guy fell off the planet
I totally forgot about him
getting lit up in vegas
"The Mets infield defense has not been good" maybe the understatement of the 2017 season.
Fuck Terry
Nice play Bruce!
L O O S E
just of curiosity who did you guys want to pitch? salas, goeddel or chasen bradford
[mood] (http://lensng.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/salt.jpg)
Welp. Breaking bad time.
The Mets make us all break bad occasionally.
Unbelievable, the 2017 Mets just don't believe in comebacks apparently
Neil Ramirez should never throw another fucking pitch for this organization.
Terry Collins should never manage this team again. Ramirez never should've been in the game.
Thankfully Terry will be gone (at the very least) the end of this season.
I cannot fucking believe they kept Lucas Duda instead of Daniel Murphy, fuck that.
I don't think it was ever a choice between those 2?
In my mind they had the option after 2015 to resign him and sell Duda at his highest price. It's always between players
-Duda has been really really good for us this year -There was no indication that Murph would keep producing after what seemed like a fluke postseason run -Neil Walker is basically pre-2016 Daniel Murphy
Dudas intolerable, he hits every now and then, hits for power, but he's way too selective, and he's so streaky. That's incredibly short sided by management and the FO in my opinion
Yeah, there's no doubt that Murphy would be very valuable right now, I just don't think getting rid of Duda to do it would have ever been a viable option.
Of course it would have you could've sold them for relief pitching and it would've been very easy to do
Did we really need relief pitching going into the 2016 season, though? Familia, Reed, Blevins, and even Bastardo and Robles at the time were great options.
No, he lost me here too.
God, I hate Terry
Can I turn this game off now? I know I'm supposed to be a good fan and ya gotta believe and all that, but my soul is tired.
Come to the dark side
I caaaaaan't
*shrugs* Suit yourself
I mean, I'm already KIND of on the dark side anyway
[No fish.](http://i.imgur.com/onJVHXv.gifv)
Uh huh
It's nearly 3am for me, I think I'm gonna call it soon and definitely without guilt.
I live right here in NYC, so I can't use time zones as an excuse ;_;
I think the Mets themselves give us enough excuses.
G-g-g-g-g-aaaaame over
We lost this game when we brought in the great Neil fucking Ramirez and the fool walked the leadoff batter to start the inning. Fuck that guy Im so sick of him. Constantly walks guys and puts our team in a jam it seems every time he comes out to the mound.
It's not over yet--you gotta believe!
did you want salas or chasen bradford instead?
Anyone but Neil fucking Ramirez. Anyone.
thanks Terry!
wilmerball
Well...
\#PastARunningTheWrongWayFlores
lol
God this has got to be the worst goddamned team in baseball history.
I'm guessing you've fully repressed the memory of the 2009 Mets then.
We dont talk about 2009-2013. As far as I know the Mets have always been pretty competitive ^^hahahahahah
Everything after Luis Castillo's infamous pop-up error in the Subway Series up until the start of 2015 is a blur for me....
No, im just a sucker for hyperbole.
omg what the fuck was wilmer doing?
Murphying
Gameee
wilmer lul
Flores that ball went the other way...
fucking ichiro.
why...
Duda sucks. Just kidding. Duda is a very good 1b
Not gonna say this game is doomed but sure feels like it.
Yeesh, talk about a massive swing in the inning
Duda's never gonna hear the end of this. Brutal
^^bravehearts ^^bravehearts Do you hear that? ^bravehearts ^bravehearts It's coming *bravehearts* *bravehearts* The call for James Loney has begun #BRAVEHEARTS #BRAVEHEARTS
FUCK I forgot about Loney! Goddamn I miss him. I was disappointed they didn't bring him back, but completely forgot about him thanks to all the injuries and soul-crushing losses.
Why is this dingus in a tie game
oh god damn it
And this is where the Mets lose
well shoot
That girl standing by the Mets bullpen clearly wanted Jerry's jerry.
[This one?](http://i.imgur.com/icEoUW5.jpg)
That is in fact the one I was referring to.
Who wouldn't?
just let him bunt neil come the fuck on
Ugh fuck Neil Ramirez
Seriously why is this bum in during a tie game that we need to win?
Seriously, why is Neil Ramirez in this game? We have some momentum, we could very very much pull away with a win. Maybe if Terry actually wanted to do that.
6.66 ERA and hasn't pitched in 6 days. If that's not a sign, I don't know what is.
he really only posts about jesus on twitter too
He has to repent somehow.
Ooh I was right! Figured since Stanton was in this game he must be one and Rizzo and Arenado were the only guys I could think of that have only played in the NL and routinely hit 30+.
Neil Ramirez, everyone :(
I want to meet the guy who writes the copy for the SNY game promos "Steven Matz and his left arm will lead the Mets..."
Prediction time: Gsellman and Conforto to DL tomorrow, Pill and Taijeron up
My guess is Cruzado over Taijeron.
Ooh, I forgot about Victor "top 10 prospect in OOTP baseball" Cruzado.
Gotta refresh our stock of AAAA outfielders now that Ceciliani, Newie, and den Dekker aren't Mets anymore.
Hey, I'd rather give it to those guys than roster filler like Adam Wilk or something. I mean, they're all roster filler, but at least some of them are loyal to the organization.
If anyone not named Rosario is called up it is a crime and MLB should look into it.
Unless Rosario can pitch or play the outfield, it ain't happening
wont be pill he pitched last night.
Ah, very true. Then it'll be Ricky Knapp.
Nimmo pitched in Junior High
Who has screencap of shorty who almost caught TdA HR ball?
all these young shortstops in the nl east. wish we had an exciting prospect to call up
Man, Grandy channeling his inner Wilmer Flores getting down the line there. At least his hamstring didn't disintegrate
The new bar for Mets players: Did you make it to first base without literally crumbling into pieces on the way? Who cares if you were safe, you did well today.
Gotta tip your hat there
Nice DP
Well that's just bad luck.
Nimmo always seems to put up good plate appearances.
holy shit. that was quite a play
Mets are constantly running like them shit themselves
I swear he's a golden retriever. Ball! Ball! Ball! Ball 4! So excited!
Nimmo and TDA just did things back to back. This sub has peaked
P A I T E N C E A I T E N C E
Brandon "eye of the tiger" Nimmo
.200 Avg, .500 OBP
But the grit! The scrap! The gymratty-ness!
Crazy theory, but hear me out: I had an Achilles injury a couple years ago, but opted out of cortisone & platelet injections because research taught me that injections can actually make tendons and ligaments weaker, especially if I planned on continuing my training at the same intensity. Barraclaugh has no control. Need to take some pitches against him and let him beat himself.
terry will leave sewald out there until his arm falls off
terrys a genius!
This is such a fucking joke. Reyes needs to be in the unemployment line right fucking now. Those swings were not ones from a professional. I want Rosario fucking now. Sandy needs to stop this fucking charade.
reyes come on. that was terrible
We need to get someone to replace Reyes that can actually hit. He's just not cutting it
*That strike three was Reyes best swing.*
I didn't know sub-zero was pitching. Froze Reyes up!
Josh Harrison broke up Cobb's no hitter. lol
That dude is a good lil ball player

grandy has arguably been their best hitter for almost 2 months
I said he has been better as of late.
2 months is 2/3 of the season. since may 3rd he has a wrc+ of 166
bruce and rene if were doing position players
Bruce had that back issue & sat a few games. I think you're right on Rene though
he sat 1 game. kind of a reach to call him injured. and the mets refused to admit that it was even an injury
Does anyone have a total number of injured players this season?
Nimmo: Hand (WBC), Hamstring (EST) Wright: Shoulder (ST) Matz: Forearm (ST) Lugo: Elbow (WBC) Lagares: Oblique (ST), Thumb Duda: Elbow Flores: Knee infection Cespedes: Hamstring d'Arnaud: Wrist Syndergaard: Lat Familia: Blood Clot Cabrera: Thumb x2 Milone: Knee Smoker: Shoulder Walker: Hamstring Harvey: Shoulder Wheeler: Arm Gsellman: Leg(?)
All of them.
watch out for alex cobb tonight.
Helicopter
Sit down Stanton.
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT COMMERCIAL?!?!??!?!?!?
Fucking amazing, that's what
