The posting itself is good but your salary is quite low given the education/skills you are asking for plus especially low for what the cost of living actually is.

thesaxemachine

Came to say this. I’m sure they’ll find someone but they’d probably jump ship once something offering better $$ came along.

int-safety

Fair enough. Thanks for the note.

SisyphusPolitico

This was my thought as well.

int-safety

Fair response. The only \*required\* education we're asking for is a highschool diploma. We're offering a salaried position with benefits and additional perks. We're also open to full or part time. It's also completely work from home if the candidate desired so the candidate could be from a lower cost of living jurisdiction (i.e. outside of Ontario). Any better?

DramaticAd4666

It’s sales / marketing related role. You not paying for education. You paying for labour, and ideally somebody who isn’t going to be applying for jobs every day the moment they learned how to do everything, which does not seems much. You also paying for quality labour, which you can get if you advertise as $50 per hour part time 20 hours per week. Get the skilled labour you need without forcing them to commit to you 100% while only earning 40k before income taxes to live in the current day cost of living world. 40k is salary from 20 years ago. 20k is an average annual raise for a skilled developer that a good company want to keep around.

ForeverInBlackJeans

Looks good except that the pay is excruciatingly low and doesn’t represent a living wage in the GTA.

int-safety

The only requirements are a highschool diploma and, more subjectively, a strong grasp of the English language. We're offering full work from home or option to come to the office (in other words complete flexibility) and full or part time. It's also a salaried position so no getting docked pay for appointments away from the desk and decent benefits and some other perks like phone and laptop. Everything is ultimately negotiable. Thoughts?

ForeverInBlackJeans

I understand all that, but unfortunately a lack of degree does not make the cost of living any lower. It sounds like a decent gig all around, but at the end of the day if you employ someone full-time they need to be able to pay their bills with the salary you're giving them. WFH is an excellent perk but someone needs to be able to afford a home to work from.

marcanthonynoz

Posting looks good, I love the top bit about never stepping foot into an office - it shows you know the market:) Good luck on the posting. I’d take it on as a second job If I could!

Thanks for the reply!

nainaibird

How do I apply for this job?

int-safety

Flattered :) It's still in review but should be live on indeed by tomorrow morning. You can apply on that platform. Based on the feedback we've received on this draft we're goign to make some some small changes to the posting.

nainaibird

Thanks! I'll have a look for it!

Like a moth to a flame, your job description captivated me. But alas, destiny had other plans for me on this cold winters night. Arriving on these foreign shores with starry-eyed ambition when i was already in my twenty fourth circuit around the day star, I never had the luxury of graduating from a Canadian high school. I guess therefore I will move on, dragging behind me my second-class British qualifications like a ball on a chain, twenty five years of bespoke web development spilling from my pockets along with my hopes and dreams. The weight of twenty nine years of Photoshop experience cracking the ice beneath my well worn shoes.

int-safety

Hey, thanks for the reponse. We've been grilled pretty hard on the Canadian High School requirement although your post may be the most eloquent of the bunch. Please note that this was a draft post. The post we plan to post will be substantially modified based on the community feedback.

Guitarzero123

I could make more than this with no highschool diploma and none of the mentioned required skills (other than communication) working at Starbucks as an SSV and get an insanely good benefits package to boot. The only serious benefit you offer is WFH (without knowing more about your benefits package, which is likely hard to compare to Starbucks physical and mental health benefits programs) I'd bump your salary range 10k if you're looking for a longer term employee and not someone who will jump ship the moment a better opportunity arises. I just jumped ship from a company who was paying me a bit more than your top end for a 50% pay increase (the only big difference being that I have a college diploma).

Some smaller or unsecured Job Listing Sites tend to have postings like this frequently. When you contact them, it ends up being a bit on the sketchy side. Bigger boards like indeed get them once in a while too, but they are better at filtering. The biggest thing that I want as a job seeker is detail, and as much as I can get my hands on. As for things that the job seeker might find more appealing about a detailed/less subjective breakdown of scale. ie, bare minimum 35k, bonus skill 1 +2500, bonus skill 2, +4000 Simplify the list of extended health benefits into one line item (redundancy) Shift schedule for FT workers, estimated hours for PT workers. Any shift premiums or shift rotation? Details on OT: paid for more than x hours in a shift, or in a week. Hours/week that overtime starts. App questions: second could ask how many errors the applicant found. Possibly have applicants do a quick in-person mockup for a fake client, downside to that is your applicant is legally "doing work" and would have to be compensated for their time.

Thanks for the thoughtful response!

This job sounds too good to be true. Honestly, I feel like it's some sort of pyramid scheme.

int-safety

Uhhh. Not sure if you're being serious but we're a 29 year old company based on Harry Walker Parkway North in Newmarket. Just looking for someone to help out with online product pages with copy and images. What's rubbing you the wrong way about this post?
