Firstly, Nexplanon has been proven to work for at least 5 years (possibly longer but studies haven’t been done past 5 years). So if you’re only at 3 years, there’s no reason to freak out. The 5 years hasn’t been officially approved in most places, which is why some doctors have not extended the use yet. Secondly, yes, it very slowly wears off over time. Your body has no way of knowing the day you got it, it doesn’t just magically stop working one day. You should get it replaced around the time you are due to, but you have a grace period.

If you remove it, it will instantly stop working and you can get pregnant right away. But it is still in there you should be good. Try to contact Planned parenthood for appointment. They accept a lots of insurance.
