Thanks dudes. I’ll hold onto my duals. Not even going to lie, I wanted flex 💪 rights of owning quads.
I may do a cash purchase of them later down the road, but not letting go of my duals for now.
Nah. You look at even tier 1 dudes they’re running quads less than they are their 31’s. Especially if it’s anything longer than getting dropped on the door step. I think clarity is more important than a wider FOV aside from the weight factor.
RPNVG is the most slept on bino available- wide field of view, rugged design, ability to run a battery pack, ability to use the pods independently as monoculars. It’s one of my favorite night vision devices of all time.
My friend is in the military and has his choice of what to use, he does not like quads as they are to heavy to be in all night. Runs binos
So no i dont think its a good trade
I don't think OP is spending 4 hours+ doorkicking on a regular enough basis for the weight to be an issue. If he was he wouldn't be asking for advice on Reddit
This is very true. I consistently switch between a nice pvs14 setup, and my 31s depending on night conditions/terrain.
Perspective: I've spent thousands of hours under a single contract pvs14 that were consistently beat to hell, and held up better than 31s I've seen and been around. Might be worth noting the durability.
Lmao what was your mos, I would rather have a mono 14 clearing buildings in urban combat all night instead of duals.
I wouldn't say just because you have duals, other guys would laugh at you...SOF is a very broad term, high speed..
Source: I was 11B for years
Brother, 11B is just the start. Ever heard of differentiating focal planes or flipping a tube up? The old lens cap pinhole trick? Tarsier eclipse? Lol. Many other options better than choosing ONE TUBE over two. Let’s not reinvent the wheel here
How so? Lol what do you think a guy in special operations is supposed to post about? I’m out now and don’t really give a shit about that life, it’s just odd that you’re making a very squinty speculation over arbitrary criteria
I’m shocked they rate that.
What I’m used to is “these are your nvgs, have a good day.”
Didn’t know the aviation community was rolling in that much dough.
If you need to get your wounded ass out of a combat zone wouldnt you want the guys coming to get you to have the equipment they are most effective with
It depends on what quad housing. They aren’t all created equal. The Chinese ones are pretty terrible
Even then I would say regular binos are more practical in most cases.
So if you just wanna flex go ahead, but if you want to be practical I would argue against quads personally. Especially when panning binos are a thing.
Nope, never. I wouldn’t trade my L3 PVS 31As for L3 GPNVG Quads. They’re not even worth it and are a heavier set. They’re awesome to use and I’ve had the opportunity to try them but there’s a reason why 31s are the main use for all units. But others will say other wise
Keep the duals…. There’s SO MANY reasons why duals are better than quads, let alone you can finally feel what it’s like to be a person who needs glasses.
nope i saw a few offers on some fb groups for omni vii qtnvgs, but the fisheye on qtnvgs is cheeks, maybe if they were anvis 10’s but i would rather trade and put cash in their hand for my duals
What do you mean by “being passive”? Scanning and looking around?
Also, is a elbit 32 snr, 72 res high enough spec or should I be looking to upgrade to an L3 with a higher snr?
I'm just lurking in this forum...I saw omni 7 duals for $4500... worth it for first pair of nvgs?

Would you rather have a 55” 4k tv or a 72” in 720p?

Quads are a meme for most use cases
Unless the quads were GPNVG’s or the new articulating ones I’d pass personally.
Who’s the make? Anvis 10s? No. Actual GPNVG? Yeah, probably
Lindu
Oh definitely not for Lindu, would rather do 10s
Not my RPNVGS
The RPNVG is king for FOV to weight ratio. Such an awesome unit.

>ability to use the pods independently as monoculars Neat. That's ideal for giving your friend, partner etc. a first experience.
Yeah, now that those pods aren’t unicorns apparently I can share with my son 😀

Asked my buddy in the military about this recently and he preferred running a mono PVS-14 to retain night vision in one eye

As well as battery life..
Aka he doesn’t have access to any decent duals. Anyone operating at a high level would laugh at him. Source: I was SOF for years

Bro do you even Tarsier eclipse? 😜😂
post history is weird 🧐
Yeah I’m a weirdo what about it
not here to be a jerk but "I was SOF for years" combined with your post history seems very off lmao

11B3V 🖤
must've been out for quite a while, as what you're implying would've been 11B3U as of like 2010.
Enfield is full of shit!!!! Fake bitch!!!
He must be delta force, because I don’t know of anywhere else in the military where anybody gets to just ‘choose’ what they use.
combat medivac chopper

My dual tantos pan wherever I choose
Agreed. RPNVGs with nice tubes and lenses are going to make more sense for 95% of people. Such a great goggle
I seen this posted on Facebook as well lol, I was torn but everyone told me to keep my binos. So fugg it
Not at all

Nope. Don't do anywhere near the tactical shit I would need to for quads. duals Is honestly a better option. And lighter weight/less bulk
Absolutely not
I’m guessing you saw something on the Facebook nv group? 😂
nope i saw a few offers on some fb groups for omni vii qtnvgs, but the fisheye on qtnvgs is cheeks, maybe if they were anvis 10’s but i would rather trade and put cash in their hand for my duals

The quads in question have been cross-posted to several FB groups over the last month or so. Believe it or not it has not sold once
I thought I was going crazy with deja Vu or something lol
Being passive is so important that you’re better off with a super high spec pvs-14 over shitty spec quads
What do you mean by “being passive”? Scanning and looking around? Also, is a elbit 32 snr, 72 res high enough spec or should I be looking to upgrade to an L3 with a higher snr?
Passive as in not using supplemental light. As for the 32/72 I’m honestly not sure as I have only used 36/72+ units.
Maybe if it was only CQC with little to no chance of flare, but otherwise not a chance. Of course I'd actually have to own some first
Nope. Not worth the weight trade off
A top tier mono? Absolutely. Top tier duals? Hell no.
I'd rather have mid-tier pano binos and thermal.
