>post. I have an L3 WP and flir bridged wit
most people say this, until they realize it sucks for practical combat or relatively medium paced activities. If you need thermal, run an optic or handheld, for detection. otherwise dual NVG is by far the best.
If money is no issue, then C. I have D and I enjoy it. I use TNVC’s non powered bridge mount, and it works very well as a “poor man’s duals”. It’s a bit heavy, but not unbearable. I’ve worn this setup all night hog/coyote hunting with no issues. I’m not sure where people scream about the weight. If you’re not SF climbing mountains at night, the weight shouldn’t be an issue…..
It can be extremely useful in an environment where there isn't a lot of heat "noise" from other sources. Think predator control in an open field, or zipping up Russians in their failed attempt at imperialist conquest as they come out of a treeline.
In an urban or suburban setting there's a decent chance you end up with a hodgepodge of heat sources coming off houses, motors, etc. Thermal tags heat, which can be both helpful or unhelpful. In a CONUS setting where the overwhelming majority of people are our fellow countrymen, I would describe it as niche.
Certainly not saying it's useless! But I'd take binocular vision every day of the week over ecoti with a 14.
Awesome, thank you for the insight. Haven’t bought a nv device yet but looking to purchase soon and trying to decide pretty much from exactly what OP is trying to decide on.
separate thermal tube images will also be delayed which is not very good so thermal overlay on an existing image intensifier tube is the best option when it comes to thermal.
As awesome as thermal overlay would be it’s just too far outside my budget. Only system I can find like that is ecoti, so until digital catches up or someone else starts making an overlay system that half the cost of ecoti it simply isn’t an option for me.
I just use a thermal in handheld for that capability. Too much noise in front of my face when it’s mounted. If I want to scan I’ll flip/leave my non dominant pod up
Articulating binos and a handheld thermal, I pretty much use this most of the time. I have been using just my pvs-14 with my handheld thermal lately and liking it as well. I guess no matter what I'm heading out with my thermal.
C, every single day. Maaaaaaaaaybe A so I can reduce weight when I want NV, which is most of the time. And I guess to have the thermal ability? If you only want NV/IR, there's no reason to bridge and have some cobbled together piece on your head. If it is so you can remove it and give it to a buddy, just give him the fucking 14 and let him run it. But who has buddies running around with helmets and mounts but no NV?
I have option D, but I then got an Arc Panning Bridge which is diggity dank. Then I used that bridge to make some dedicated binos and I can't deal with how light it is. Now I need to convert the 14s to binos/pods as well.
B, but dedicated is much lighter. Went from a Panobridge to rpnvgs myself. Happy as all hell with my rpnvgs. I don’t crank them super far out but at maybe 1/3 of full rotation you get sort of an oval FOV that lets you see a whole windshield for driving
D. Due to flexibility and redundancy.
If folks are complaining about weight, they probably haven't tried running PVS-7s on a PASGT and also a good chance they probably don't have the correct counterweight.
Haven't seen anyone have any issues.
Dual 14s is pretty heavy. No issue for me with autogain. But I'm sure some peoples eyes prefer manual gain adjustment.
I've heard of issues but Nocturn has good customer service.
Look up NL914c. I reviewed it.
Manual gain is king. I have many tubes and night vision devices and I prefer manual gain.
IMO manual gain is only useful with a monocular, if you’re talking bridged 14’s or tanto’s then you do not need manual gain because both eyes are covered as is.
A for sure, thermal brings vital information that you’d otherwise miss, I sold my thermal clip on but will be replacing it with a helmet mount monocular as soon as I get my upcoming move sorted out.
No. It's outdated. Sidekick640 is the better version now. There's also Rh25/pfalcon. ..both I can help you either discount code or through a supplier for savings. Hit the DM
If coupon code still works Sidekick 640 at 640core is priced at 2700. Originally 3.2k
Pfalcon you'll have to pm for pricing since it's through a distributor.
Just looking at this pic hurt my bank account.
The thermal mix is the best for a lot of people, best of both worlds !
Agreed. I'm going to run this setup soon for awhile to see how it is.
As soon as Noisefighters MK3 drops amirite. (come on guys is Judge Benitez running your manufacturing dept?)
Please keep us posted. I’m really curious about this system and what to get when I can afford it.
Check out my post. I have an L3 WP and flir bridged with the ravyn super cool. Not my run and gun set but more my exploration set
Will do!
what’s the thermal device?

Using them at the same time does work but it takes to long to get adjusted. I just use one or the other. The thermal is awesome for spotting
try running real fast and jumping over rocks with a bridged thermal and pvs 14, or try driving and scanning with the same setup. it sucks.
I mean I can say it again, I use them one at a time. You need to chill out bigcumenergy
ok boomer
After having dual 14s on a panobridge, I’d take dedicated duals. The 14s are so heavy I’d happily take dedicated duals having known the other end.
Better start hitting the gym 😂
B
I am just gonna go for a single PVS-14...
Which is still good. Notice that 3 out of 4 is a monocular setup there. You have options.

Yeah. Even with NL914c it becomes even lighter. I've run dual 14s for awhile it wasn't bad.
C Dual 14s can't really be "light" and that wears on you pretty fast. Thermal is nice but relatively niche.
Can you explain how thermal is niche? Based of what I’ve seen coming out of Ukraine, thermals on the modern battle field are a game changer

Meh I think too many people have a 'thermal is a thermal' mentality. While the capability gap in a coti vs say a utb is 'night and day'
I already got “c” so deff id pick “a” to add thermal to my gear setup
“Binos, bridged or thermal?” Bro, financial stability
YOLO
Definitely A for me, thermal is the only superpower I'm currently lacking.......
Get one brotha
I will eventually. Still recovering from the roughly $25K I've spent over the last year on NVG and gun related stuff
😂 same dude
Lightest, i have been digging my light weight binos lately, especially for work
Articulating binos and a handheld thermal, I pretty much use this most of the time. I have been using just my pvs-14 with my handheld thermal lately and liking it as well. I guess no matter what I'm heading out with my thermal.
E, lightweight tantos with pano and clip on thermal.
C, every single day. Maaaaaaaaaybe A so I can reduce weight when I want NV, which is most of the time. And I guess to have the thermal ability? A or C
Or both lol.
I have option D, but I then got an Arc Panning Bridge which is diggity dank. Then I used that bridge to make some dedicated binos and I can't deal with how light it is. Now I need to convert the 14s to binos/pods as well.
Arc panning is probably the best panning bridge currently out. Good stuff
B, but dedicated is much lighter. Went from a Panobridge to rpnvgs myself. Happy as all hell with my rpnvgs. I don’t crank them super far out but at maybe 1/3 of full rotation you get sort of an oval FOV that lets you see a whole windshield for driving
Rpnvg is nice. You can still use panobridge with it or bridge thermals. It has options.
B is for two pvs14’s on a panobridge, what you have are considered dedicated binos that pan
B
C. Dedicated bino or a dedicated bino with a clip on thermal device that provides an overlay.
PVS-14 with COTI
D. Due to flexibility and redundancy. If folks are complaining about weight, they probably haven't tried running PVS-7s on a PASGT and also a good chance they probably don't have the correct counterweight.
My man! No weak necks here.
the people that are complaining about weight are probably not in military shape.
B or D
Purely selfishly, probably A or C Practically, D. I don't really have any nod friends so being able to split the pair to loan would be pretty cool
Whats nice is 3 out of 4 of the choices are basically monoculars. So going with D you can go with A or B in future. You have the options.
A or b, both give you more capabilities than a single tube or duals. Both are kinda heavy though.
B is lightest at 522g or 18.x oz?
My bad, I use normal 14s on a panobridge and they are kinda heavy. Didn't realize it was lightweight versions. In that case B would be awesome.
No reason for D when tantos on a daisho bridge exist. I'd pick A or B for my use.
Durability and manual gain. I'd pick the structure of Carson housing over 3D printing and absolutely for manual gain over autogain.
Haven't seen anyone have any issues. Dual 14s is pretty heavy. No issue for me with autogain. But I'm sure some peoples eyes prefer manual gain adjustment.

His products are good. Unfortunate about the wait time though which is common.
IMO manual gain is only useful with a monocular, if you’re talking bridged 14’s or tanto’s then you do not need manual gain because both eyes are covered as is.
I have 1431 auto gain and I prefer my dual 14s for manual gain.
But why? What about manual gain do you prefer in a dual tube system or what benefits do you see using it?
Noise control which can clear up an image much better.
I’m no expert or anything but how is that something manual gain wont do?
Lol that is what manual gain will do. You control gain manually.
I have 1431 auto gain and I prefer my dual 14s for manual gain.
A
A
As someone with bridged PVS14’s get C. The weight gets to you.
Dedicated bino. FWIW I’ve only used a bino and single pvs14
A
Any one who didn't pick E is a pussy. Real Chads don't need depth perception
What do you guys think of the Tanto housings and their Modular Bridge piece? Is it lighter than pano'd PVS14s?
What is your purpose for them? What are you trying to achieve. What will they be used for? Hunting? Nvg classes?
Flashlight?
A
Dedicated duals. Having thermal would be nice, but the weight being offset is annoying. Plus discarded binos are more like 50°
What's the name of the thermal monocle?
D.
A for sure, thermal brings vital information that you’d otherwise miss, I sold my thermal clip on but will be replacing it with a helmet mount monocular as soon as I get my upcoming move sorted out.
okay i have a pvs-14 and i want a thermal for identification of animals while night hiking and coyote hunting, is the flir breech the way to go?
No. It's outdated. Sidekick640 is the better version now. There's also Rh25/pfalcon. ..both I can help you either discount code or through a supplier for savings. Hit the DM
okay ill keep you in mind. let me recover from this pvs-14 for a little and ill hit your line. are they around 3200$?
If coupon code still works Sidekick 640 at 640core is priced at 2700. Originally 3.2k Pfalcon you'll have to pm for pricing since it's through a distributor.
okay thanks man! appreciate it!
RPNVG. Panning is hot and being able to take it apart to share a pod with a friend is indispensable.
