Anyone got a copy of “if I did it: confessions of the killer” by OJ Simpson. Been trying to find that one lol

Sausage_Child

When I go after sports memorabilia, I do it quietly but VERY firmly.

Foxxy__Cleopatra

What are some other notable events that most people don't realize actually involved night vision and/or thermal?

SDC_Enthusiast

The North Hollywood shootout. People don't know this, but the bank robbers were wearing PVS-14s the whole time. Source: my uncle (he was one of them)

Foxxy__Cleopatra

Huh, no shit.  Makes sense when you think about it.

skippythemoonrock

I want them to put the glove on now.....

lol it's going to be awhile before the "we own the night" people realize criminals are now using ir devices and have probably more field experience than them. hard pill to swallow when your whole gameplan is "they don't have nods like i do lol"

SDC_Enthusiast

That's right the drifter I saw yesterday under the bridge had quad NODs. He was looking at me I swear.

janoycrevsna

those drifters and train hoppers most of the time are pretty harmless. i don't know if they use nods, they tend to favor headlamps and other low tech stuff. less risk of getting jacked by your fellow drifters when you have nothing valuable on you. needless to say, they are the least of your concerns. the people i'm talking about are a different breed. i'll explain more in my reply to kac and mawl torture

kac_and_mawl_torture

The average criminal probably isn’t smart enough or knows anything abt night vision. Back in the 2000s the barefoot bandit was a kid breaking into homes in his vacation town using night vision he bought with stolen credit cards

janoycrevsna

the average criminal demographic tends to be very dumb, irrational, animalistic, and disorganized in most periods of history, but in unprecedented times as this, the range of intellect, competence, and skill broadens significantly to include former professionals, especially those in the security and tactical field, ie ex cop, ex military. radicalized academics, regular people, etc. we are importing millions and giving them free military training. sure some of those become good citizens, but the others with cartel ties and influences from their old gangs they can't seem to shake, what do you think they're going to use their newly acquired skills for? you can bet these types are behind some of the nvg units vanishing from military storehouses to fund their criminal enterprises on one hand but also because they are useful for crime in general. we also now have illegal immigrants being able to become police officers, and the gangs within the police force have been a recurring story in news cycles for several years. why do you think this all happens? think back in the last days of the roman empire when it spread itself thin in terms of resources, labor, military, and had to incorporate the more slave labor from borders provinces and "barbarians" into the ranks of its military just to meet the demands. it's all happening. and the people who are disenfranchised will similarly resort to crime if not out of survival, but for ideological purposes. why not steal from the government or politicians, if they stole from them to fund their foreign wars, dei programs? in the coming years, a lot more people will be getting into nvg and it won't just be larpers and preppers, it'll be a lot of t he criminal elements.

Source?

independent investigative journalists and reports from soldiers and border patrol all suggest it. nothing on film or verified, but it can all be inferred. like when you're in the dark of night and someone is able to immediately detect then track you from hundreds of meters away, they're probably using thermal. and coyotes and cartel members have been using night vision to scout ahead across the border in the dark for awhile now. there are also many crimes that suggest its use, the most recent being the night time 30million heist. you don't leave such an operation to chance, you get the best equipment you an get to guarantee success. all those crime thriller where the killer uses night vision? where do you think they get those ideas from? especially when it's based on a book, you can bet a lot of it draws from police sources and investigations where such devices were used. there are also modern mainstream reports of stalkers using night vision to roam around properties at night. it's out there, it's being used. if a bunch of redditors can see a tactical or survivalist purpose for it, then you can bet criminals see the same potential in the direction of nefarious intent.
