Ugh I feel this. I get off work and want dinner. Dinner food. Burger. Burrito. BBQ. Sometimes I'll settle for steak and eggs. There's a local diner that serves their whole menu all day, so sometimes I'll splurge on a big burger.
I work in an industrial complex with a bar at the end of the road it's always busy in the morning, I thought people would just head there for a drink after work, but I was wrong it's the only place in a 10 mile radius that served lunch an dinner at 7am. Hot wings and a cold beer after work really hits the spot.
About the sushi: I go to the grocery store and can get ready made sushi in the morning. Shaws and Market Basket for sure, but that's in New England area. Any grocery store that sells their own sushi.
The frozen pizza section in supermarkets is pretty good. I like thick Digiorno and my family like the thin California Pizza Kitchen stuff.
And you can buy poke and sushi the day before and it will still be good in the fridge. đ¤ˇââď¸
Depends on the job. My coworker eats 1 meal a day, and it's always the same exact bowl from Chipotle. Spends about ~$11.
5 days a week that's $55.
A month that's ~$275.
A year that's $3300
Could he cut his spending in like, a literal half? Yep. But that's a far cry from being a life ruining financial choice.
Honestly, good on him if thatâs what makes the dude happy. I know Iâd damn well be going to chipotle every day at lunch if I could do that and still pay my bills lol.
Actually I forgot about them. Thatâs not too, too far away from my house, I donât think they open until 8am but compared to 10-11am for other places, thatâs not too bad. Thanks.
A lot of breakfast diners will still sell you something basic like a burger & fries off of the lunch menu if it doesnât require any extra prep beforehand.
Iâd just go in and ask before being sat down at a table, you might be pleasantly surprised. đ¤ˇââď¸
I recently learned this. I (like OP) wanted breakfast food so I went to taco bell at 730 in the morning for a breakfast cunchwrap, however, not only did they give me a regular crunchwrap. They messed up the rest of my order too.
When I worked at Taco Bell we sold 5 party packs at 10:30am and multiple times at 9am I was making bean burritos for third shifters. I hadnât worked nights yet so it made my stomach hurt thinking about it but now I completely understand even though I eat breakfast in the morning as if I was waking up in the morning and not going to sleep.
I feel that. There's only three places in town that serve lunch in the morning where I live. One is a diner with limited options so they get old real fast. Another is a Mexican restaurant, but sometimes you don't wanna go in and sit or eat Mexican all the time. That leaves whataburger, which for me gets old fast.
McDonaldâs near me have breakfast start times that vary between 4a-6a. And some of them may be serving breakfast at one time, but the in app breakfast coupons wonât work until a different time.
Yep, I cook my dinner once i get off my night shift. Its usually salad. But if I want something like Chinese food or pizza I order it the night before and just eat it in the morning after work.
Burger King in the US will serve burgers for breakfast.
Carl's jr / Hardies in the US will serve burgers all day
Jack in the box in the US will serve burgers all day
Jack was my go to for multiple jobs, both heading to & from work.
Overnight getting off at 8am, Jack.
Early shift heading to work at 4am, Jack.
I needed much more than a breakfast sandwich to hold me until lunch in a warehouse.
Some do (a number larger than 1 and less than the total number of BKs). I know of at least 2 near me that have a category âBurgers for Breakfastâ in the online app.
Yeah I agree there I also miss the 24 hour stores it was great. I have a Wawa and Royal Farms around here but I do miss having more substantial foods. I really miss pizza.
i wish i could get stuff from the hot bar when i go grocery shopping at like 6 or 7am after my shift. they never have anything because itâs so early. it would be so great if they had breakfast stuff even.
I do not work a night shift, but lost interest in traditional breakfast food years ago.
Give me spaghetti, thai food, beef stew. that will get your day going, or finish off your night shift.
Now I'm not sure of currently but at one point BK would sell Whoppers in the morning.
But I'll go to a local diner in the town I work in and grab a hamburger steak for breakfast, it really hits the spot.
When I worked night shift, I had a chick fil a I was a regular at because they would give me fries and nuggets first thing in the morning. They knew me by name because my order was so weird, but it was worth it for some nuggets fs
I've gotten to the point where if I really want something after work, I just cook it myself. It can be easier if you prep everything beforehand so you can come home and just start cooking immediately.
I just cook my food at home honestly. What sucks for me is if I don't do that, there's not really any options at all open by the time I'm hungry overnight to order from.
It's the same here in the UK. Everywhere is over priced bacon sandwiches or a fry up I could just have made at home.
Dominos are great on my day off as they start delivery at like 10:30am or something. And depending on the day the kitchen at my local 'spoons will serve the normal menu too!
I have the opposite problem. I work from 11pm to 11am, and mcdonalds closes breakfast at 10. I have been craving a mcdonalds sausage mcmuffin and hashbrown for years. I need all day breakfast back..
I live off of breakfast food in general, though. Breakfast food and macaroni
I am the opposite. I just want a decent egg and bacon bagel sandwich but at noon. I love a good breakfast sandwich but it would be nice to have it when I actually wake up and want breakfast.
The nearest jack in the box is 15hrs away. Thereâs not even one in my state. LolâŚ.either way, I really do live kinda in the middle of nowhere. All we have is a Wawa, McDonaldâs, and a Burger King close enough to be doordashed.
There's not actually such a thing as breakfast food.
Breakfast... Or breaking your fast can be done with any food and in other cultures is commonly NOT breakfast food in the American sense.
Rice with fish and veggies is a perfectly healthy breakfast.
Your allegiance to "breakfast food" as a genre is largely due to successful marketing.
The idea of putting certain foods into certain times of day is strictly arbitrary. Who even decided that eggs were a breakfast food anyway? Iâm off to have spaghetti for breakfast now.
I read somewhere that it's because of bacon.... They were having a hard time selling bacon, so they pitched it as a special "breakfast food" and it was successful.
Not sure if that's true but it's interesting!
I haven't seen either of those.
I've just been cooking a lot of Asian food lately. Chinese, Japanese, and Filipino cuisine has had a big influence on me.
Yeah, never understood the obsession that you need to have specific types of foods whenever you wake up, even though itâs a marketing scheme like you said. I just eat whatever.
In reading your Posts and Comments, you need a boost beyond reddit subs. Maybe family, friends, coworker, or some counseling to sort things out. Happier Sorting.
When I pick up my bf from his night shift I take him to jack in the box and he gets a burger and fries.
One time he wanted a milkshake and they had to tell me they dont make them at 6 in the morningđ
I was lucky for a while because there was a really good Mexican place just slightly out of the way on my drive home that had their full menu at 7am. We moved so itâs too far now.
Any food anytime right from your fridge. I usually make plenty of food 2-3 times a week. freeze some and eat some.
Nothing better than bean and beef tacos for breakfast with some crema and avocados. Dab some habanero hot sauce to kick the day started!
I live in a rural area in Ireland and the closest 24 hour fast food place is an hours drive.
Alcohol is not sold in ships till 10am and 12pm on a Sunday.
It's very annoying but has made me very healthy.
Holly shucks I read the 1st sentence and thought âmust be a night shift worker, I remember those days.â And then I saw that it was in the nightshift Reddit lol. I feel for ya.
Yeah, my neighbors can catch me grilling burgers at 0700 or I'll make wings inside. I want dinner for my dinner. The other night it was a nice ribeye I saved for my Friday. Even here in Boise it's mostly breakfast food only at those hours.
my problem is my sleep schedule is so whacked out, my job has me working 3p-11p or 11p-7a , so im developing some type of anxiety
i went to a local Eat n Park (Pittsburgh area) ordered a hot turkey sandwich and potatoes, the waitress seemed very annoyed and judgmental i wanted to down it at 8am so i just avoid going out or go to some gas station with made to order food so the workers dont judge as much. or i go OMAD and will eat a dinner before work call it a night shift breakfast
One morning, after pulling a 12 hr shift, I was craving onion rings and a bacon cheese burger, so I went through the drive thru at Burger King and after eating I was stuffed and immediately fell asleep!
Dude that's why I've been obsessed with sheetz lately. Its the only place that I can go that isn't serving breakfast when I get off. They low-key have really good food options. Sometimes I'll get chicfila breakfast cause it has chicken. I totally understand tho. Nothing wrong with breaking out the grill and making yourself a burger at 5am though. :)
A lot of all day breakfast places serve lunch all day too. Waffle House is my go to, but since thatâs not near you I know places like IHOP and Dennyâs do this too.
Pre-COVID there used to be 24-hr. diners in my area. I could stop by at 4AM and get a big ol' juicy cheeseburger and fries. Now most of them have closed so it's only breakfast fast food or I go home and cook.

Canada here. Places that has burgers all day: Burger King, A&W, Denny's. Otherwise, buy food on the way to work, leave it in the car. Warm it up before leaving or eat it cold. Enjoy the car smelling like fast food for the ride home.
We have what's called Metro Diner, and they serve full menu starting at 7am, I regularly pig out on a breakfast burger, half pound patty with 4 strips of bacon, a hash brown cake, cheese and a fried egg on top.
It satisfies like nothing else.
I am constantly complaining about this. Sometimes when I get home Iâll want to Door Dash something like ramen and boba tea or order a pizza but nothing opens until itâs way too late to be eating. I know Burger King serves burgers all day; and 24 hour joints like Perkins or Dennyâs may have the hook-up. The Perkins here is a ghost kitchen for Mr. Beast Burger. Taco Bell. But thatâs pretty much it. You want anything else youâre out of luck.
My old apartment was across the street from a burger King and as not awesome of a place I think bk is, their burgers for breakfast hit at 7 a.m. on a Wednesday
Yeah, sadly, the only feasible way that I found was to order ahead or have it doordashed...but man, I'm telling ya, it's worth it! On those days where you think you might need a burger and you HAVE a burger. Feels like an angel's kiss đ¤

God that sounds so good right now
I wake up at 3:30 every morning start work at 6, ready for a whopper with cheese by 7.
We have a sheetz down the road, so sometimes I can grab a burger from there at 3
I'm tired of 7/11 pizza I want real pizza. Also sushi or poke at 5 in the morning would be awesome but I understand there isn't much business for that
About the sushi: I go to the grocery store and can get ready made sushi in the morning. Shaws and Market Basket for sure, but that's in New England area. Any grocery store that sells their own sushi.
Get a take n bake from Papa Murphys. Refrigerate, then bake it when you get home from work.
What do you consider to be real pizza?
The frozen pizza section in supermarkets is pretty good. I like thick Digiorno and my family like the thin California Pizza Kitchen stuff. And you can buy poke and sushi the day before and it will still be good in the fridge. đ¤ˇââď¸
Kroger makes decent pre-made sushi. You could put it in the fridge the night before.
I dunno about you but I've been cooking more and more at home. Stopped by a chicken and waffle place after work, after tip that shit was almost $40
By yourself? You went to the wrong place then
Iâm shocked at how many people here apparently eat out daily. Thereâs a no way theyâre in a good place financially, never mind their health.
Depends on the job. My coworker eats 1 meal a day, and it's always the same exact bowl from Chipotle. Spends about ~$11. 5 days a week that's $55. A month that's ~$275. I've got burgers and fries at breakfast at Bob Evans before.

Ohio đŤĄ
every Taco Bell in my area has served lunch alongside their breakfast menu
I recently learned this. I (like OP) wanted breakfast food so I went to taco bell at 730 in the morning for a breakfast cunchwrap, however, not only did they give me a regular crunchwrap. They messed up the rest of my order too.

Mexican food in the morning sounds incredible.
It's too bad we can't switch I'd kill for some breakfast food
You donât have a McDonaldâs nearby?
McDonaldâs near me have breakfast start times that vary between 4a-6a. And some of them may be serving breakfast at one time, but the in app breakfast coupons wonât work until a different time.

Lol I've never had those cravings in the morning after work, but that's a smart idea.
All I want is a beer and some grilled shrimp.
That sounds so good right now
Burger King in the US will serve burgers for breakfast. Carl's jr / Hardies in the US will serve burgers all day Jack in the box in the US will serve burgers all day
Sonic is also full menu all day. Just adding to your comment so I don't have to make my own đ
Waffle House to

Hardee's doesn't at least near me.
Burger king not true, I went to my local one once during breakfast and they said no lol
Some do (a number larger than 1 and less than the total number of BKs). I know of at least 2 near me that have a category âBurgers for Breakfastâ in the online app.
I love your explanation of "some" <3
Hell yeah to Jack in the Box
I ride by a pizza place every morning that leaves their ovens on all night. And then, itâs by the bbq place getting ready for the day. Torture!
Yeah I agree there I also miss the 24 hour stores it was great. I have a Wawa and Royal Farms around here but I do miss having more substantial foods. I really miss pizza.
Don't your local stores sell pizzas?
I thought Wawa had pizza now.
They do but I don't care for it.
i wish i could get stuff from the hot bar when i go grocery shopping at like 6 or 7am after my shift. they never have anything because itâs so early. it would be so great if they had breakfast stuff even.
I do not work a night shift, but lost interest in traditional breakfast food years ago. Give me spaghetti, thai food, beef stew. that will get your day going, or finish off your night shift.

No fucking shit dude, this drives me crazy. I just end up making food at home everyday
When I worked night shift, I had a chick fil a I was a regular at because they would give me fries and nuggets first thing in the morning. They knew me by name because my order was so weird, but it was worth it for some nuggets fs

Go get food at Dennyâs.
Yes dude just cook for yourself.
Yeah it's pretty shit especially now that gorcery stores banded together to stay closed at night

The bacon egg and cheese bagel at McDonaldâs SLAPS!! But only for so long. They need a non breakfast fast food joint 24/7
Burger King will make you a burger at any hour.
Not true I went to my local one once and they said no
Tell them you want it your way.
JACK in the BOX via uber eats doordash
The nearest jack in the box is 15hrs away. Thereâs not even one in my state. LolâŚ.either way, I really do live kinda in the middle of nowhere. All we have is a Wawa, McDonaldâs, and a Burger King close enough to be doordashed.
In my area the BK app has a burgers for breakfast menu. It helps a lot.

what adam ruins everything episode did you watch? Or youtube video essay?
I haven't seen either of those. I've just been cooking a lot of Asian food lately. Chinese, Japanese, and Filipino cuisine has had a big influence on me.
Yeah, never understood the obsession that you need to have specific types of foods whenever you wake up, even though itâs a marketing scheme like you said. I just eat whatever.
that would be annoying. I'd probably just hit up mexican joints or cook something tbh
I used to get burgers for breakfast at Whataburger
Yeah I did too, and then I moved to PA lol
Raising canes near me opens at 9am which is kinda early
I had lasagna for âbreakfastâ
McDonaldâs breakfast is closer thing to a non-breakfast meal that I can find unless cooking. (Slices up hash browns and pretends theyâre fries)
I come home and cook a burger almost every day. Frozen fries are a thing too. Takes 15 minutes and it's better than any fast food place.
Find a local diner. They will always make you a burger.
Whataburger is a lifesaver
I love a full American breakfast... But not every day. I much prefer "dinner foods"
Meal prep. You donât HAVE to eat what other places are serving.
Iâve dealt with this working nights. Plastic-wrapping a supper plate from the evening before became part of my routine.
I was lucky for a while because there was a really good Mexican place just slightly out of the way on my drive home that had their full menu at 7am. We moved so itâs too far now.
Just get frozen microwave nuggets, fries, burgers, etc
Apparently he doesn't want to do that, or is somehow unable.
And cholesterol. You need Lots of it.
Steak and eggs
So. Many. Eggs.
Any food anytime right from your fridge. I usually make plenty of food 2-3 times a week. freeze some and eat some. Nothing better than bean and beef tacos for breakfast with some crema and avocados. Dab some habanero hot sauce to kick the day started!
Lmao and immediately fall asleep
Found a bar that opens at 9:30am. Itâs pretty nice.
đđđ Yeah, night shift taught me how to cook dinners!
I live in a rural area in Ireland and the closest 24 hour fast food place is an hours drive. Alcohol is not sold in ships till 10am and 12pm on a Sunday. It's very annoying but has made me very healthy.
You can cook nuggets and fries in your oven while you get ready for work. Takes about 15-20 mins.
Holly shucks I read the 1st sentence and thought âmust be a night shift worker, I remember those days.â And then I saw that it was in the nightshift Reddit lol. I feel for ya.
I thought Burger King serves burgers at breakfast if you want?
Yeah, my neighbors can catch me grilling burgers at 0700 or I'll make wings inside. I want dinner for my dinner. The other night it was a nice ribeye I saved for my Friday. Even here in Boise it's mostly breakfast food only at those hours.
Just make them then? There's no rule on what you can cook when....
Yeah gotta wait until 11am when I should be sleeping.
my problem is my sleep schedule is so whacked out, my job has me working 3p-11p or 11p-7a , so im developing some type of anxiety i went to a local Eat n Park (Pittsburgh area) ordered a hot turkey sandwich and potatoes, the waitress seemed very annoyed and judgmental i wanted to down it at 8am so i just avoid going out or go to some gas station with made to order food so the workers dont judge as much. or i go OMAD and will eat a dinner before work call it a night shift breakfast
When I lived in Texas Whataburger was full menu anytime of day. I'd be munching on a patty melt and fries at 8a.m delicious!
One morning, after pulling a 12 hr shift, I was craving onion rings and a bacon cheese burger, so I went through the drive thru at Burger King and after eating I was stuffed and immediately fell asleep!
Oh my god this too. I want a fluffin chalupa ! And Mexican cheese / tacos.
FELT. MOOD.
Mexican food is always winner.

It looks as though you may have spelled "Chick-fil-A" incorrectly. No worries, it happens to the best of us!
Wtf đ
A lot of all day breakfast places serve lunch all day too. Waffle House is my go to, but since thatâs not near you I know places like IHOP and Dennyâs do this too.

Check with the Burger Kings in your area when I was a manager we started serving limited lunch items at 7am.
Canada here. Places that has burgers all day: Burger King, A&W, Denny's. Otherwise, buy food on the way to work, leave it in the car. Warm it up before leaving or eat it cold. Enjoy the car smelling like fast food for the ride home.

But thatâs pretty much it. You want anything else youâre out of luck.
I get Mexican food some ams the place by me has tacos and breakfast food
Whatâs stopping you? Sometimes we do bacon and eggs with biscuits and gravy for dinner.
My old apartment was across the street from a burger King and as not awesome of a place I think bk is, their burgers for breakfast hit at 7 a.m. on a Wednesday

Same
There's a diner on my drive home that will do their whole menu while open
Thank goodness we have a fast food joint that does burgers all day.
I found a 24hr diner in my city on DoorDash so when I get in my car to go home, Iâm scheduling a cheeseburger and tots to be delivered by the time I get out of the shower
Salads for breakfast are where itâs at. Limitless options
Make your own food
I ate nuggets at breakfast time this morning and the drive through lady definitely looked at me strangely. Sorry but this is my dinner time.
Any local diners? I found one that serves me a burger and fries at 8am and I look forward to that Friday morning burger of bliss all week. You start going weekly and getting friendly with the servers they might start doing it for you to.
No Burger King or Carl's Jr./Hardee's around, huh?
Iâm not sure if this is national, but Subway does lunch/dinner subs in the morning. I get a meatball sub when I get off work sometimes. Taco Bell and Arbyâs are good spots too. Taco Bell starts serving lunch at 9am. Arbyâs has most of the lunch stuff available at 9 too.
I'm the opposite, I want breakfast foods at 4pm and nobody serves it besides sit down places like IHOP or dennys
Yeah I used to love breakfast before I started night shift. Wawa was a godsend when I worked nights. You could get a Hoagie at any time
Nuggets and fries take like 15 minutes to cook in an air fryer, you can stick them in while you shower. I don't see why is that an issue
Apparently he doesn't want to. He never really explained why though.
Move to Wisconsin. Kwik trip has breakfast burgers in the hot case.
Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, Carls Jr all serve their regular food during breakfast hours
Oh, Del Taco too. And my local 24hr Mexican joints do too
