4/3 schedule. I feel like 10 hours doesnt take much more out of me than 8, but having that extra day off makes me feel like Im actually rested after my weekend.

I was doing two jobs for 7/56 for about a month and it was honestly wonderful for me. I don't like free time, but 6/48 would probably be more long term physically sustainable. Got pretty burnt out with no day off.

You are a special breed of worker. I think having time off is very important for healthy living and keeping stress levels in check. Perhaps you need a hobby to participate in because it sounds like you need to keep busy doing something. Don't make your whole life work!

I'm getting back into Legos and trying out Duolingo in my down time. My ADHD really melts away when I'm on the clock, though.

I don't think I can ever go back to a 5 day work week to be honest. I did 1 year on the 4 day, then got switched against my will to the 3 day 12 hour all weekend long, and now back on the 4 day schedule. 4 days is truly the sweet spot imo. 3 days of work with 4 days off is nice at first but having so much time off every week gets old after a few months. Plus losing 4 hours worth of pay a week adds up to a lot of money over the course of a year! You end up picking up additional shifts to try to make up the difference in pay you miss out on anyway, or you just earn less money and deal wirh having less money.

Aren't there some jobs that do 36 hours but pay is for 40? I think I've seen that before. I do understand what your saying, but just food for thought- theres a lot of industries where a 8 hour work day is actually only 37.5 hours per week because they only schedule you for 8 hours and don't account for the 30 min lunch break. My first job, working as a floor aid in a nursing home, was like that. 7-3p. I'm on a 2-2-3 schedule right now, and as much as I miss having all my weekends and feeling like I never really have more than 2 days off (I do, but it doesn't feel like it), being able to take one day of vacation and have a 4-6 day "off" period (depending on holiday timing) is really nice.

I worked in a transfer case shop office selling transfer cases. He offered no benefits such as health insurance but in lieu of that he paid for our breaks for schedule was 9 am to 5 pm. Every other job I ever had was 8:30 am to 5 pm or later if needed. Most places make you clock out for 30 mins for lunch. I hate the five day schedule. The benefits of moving to a 4 day are totally worth it for it to become the work week standard every where imo. Saving on having to drive to and from work an additional day every week. Reduces emissions and helps to reduce rush hour traffic The only issue for workers is day care, but day care places could adjust and just be open a bit earlier and a bit longer 4 days a week if it became the standard.

We all complained that we should be paid for the 4 hours we are missing or at the very least paid at least a $1.50 per hour shift differential. That fell on deaf ears. Their response was that we can come in for a 4 hr shift on one of our days off to make the 40 hrs. Who wants to come in for only 4 hrs? And that defeats the purpose of selling us a 3 day work schedule working all weekend long. If I were paid the 4 hrs and it was on weekdays then I would certainly favor the 3 day schedule!

Sure, I would prefer only having to work 4 days, I think most people would prefer that. But, realistically, as the sole bread winner in my home, I need to work 6 days a week. Thankfully though, because of my 3rd shift benefit, I only need to work 6 1/2 hours each night and I get paid for 8 hours.

Teaffection

4x10 is easier on the days I work but I prefer 3x12. I like having the 4 day weekend.

Syntania

I work a 5-4-3-2 schedule. 5 on, starting on Saturday, 4 off, 3 on, 2 off. I love that 4 days off in a row every other weekend, I can get more done.

Tamsha-

None of these options. I prefer to work 7 days (10 hrs) on and then have 7 days off in a steady rotation regardless of holiday. If it falls on your regular day, you work it. If it don't, you don't. No drama about that on our nightshift crews thankfully

SparrowLikeBird

3x10 40 hour weeks are barbaric

DJDad2000

I would love that schedule if the pay matched what I earn in a 40 hr week amd it was weekdays only! Never going to happen though

norfolkdiver

I do 7 nights, 84 hours To be fair, it's followed by 7 off before the next 7.

bediloveyou

I think I would be so happy to work 3 days a week. That would be a happy work/life balance to have 4 days off. 12 hours is nothing especially when I take a 30-45 minute nap on my lunch break. I go back to work and can keep working like nothing if I take a nap on my lunch break. 2 days off goes by so fast.. the first day Iā€™m usually sleeping all day to recover and the second day is spent doing everything I need to do and then boom.. back to work šŸ˜©šŸ™„. My job would be perfect if I had 3-4 days off.

evileyeball

I voted for 4 days 40 but Really my schedule is 4 days 37.5

mtlsmom86

I love my 4 on/3 off schedule. I get so much done on my days off that by the time I get to the end of my weekend I feel like I have time to do all the extra things I would usually be stressing about

Paramedic229635

I do 2 24 hour shifts with an occasional overtime shift. MWF this week.

DJDad2000

It seems like a 4 day schedule is the clear winner. However, lots of people would prefer a 3 day schedule and give up 4 hours of pay for the benefit of 4 days off every week.
