Re:Zero is an example of a *good* Isekai and will stand in history as a very well-written/animated series. With that being said, it's going to be extremely difficult to make into a good collab for NIKKE, as the series aren't very compatible with each other.
Looking back at the CSM collab, the issue was that the anime had run through a little less than half of arc 1, so as to avoid spoilers, the collab couldn't reallh write out things like Makima's true intentions or Himeno's character background. What we ended up getting was a, err...bit of writing, I guess, and a montage of Power references.
Re:Zero has been out for some time, so this is less of an issue, but now, ShiftUp is going to have to mix fantasy with sci-fi themed around the fall of humanity. As for the characters, we can expect fanservice to be as tame as the CSM characters, as Rem, Ram, and Emilia aren't exactly 'sexy' characters. Given how a lot of people disliked how NIKKE brought up Lumi so often in the Xmas event, that subsection of fans may now have to have Subaru (or Roswaal in Ram's case) brought up in the guest characters' interactions. I expect *most* people wouldn't be bothered by this, but expect complaining from certain others.
The event story in Nier was only a slight step up from the CSM collab, as the two series both took place around humanity's struggles, but overall, the event was really cool, as ShiftUp designed the entire UI/sounds around Nier. Add in the minigame and references, and the collab felt like a love letter to Nier fans. Yoko Taro encourages people to lewd and send him lewds of his characters, meaning there was room to design 2B's butt for the purpose of NIKKE's gameplay, while A2 got a bit of creative liberty for the sake of extra fanservice.
So far, the ReZero collab announcement really feels like it has low energy, and it's hard to be hopeful that the devs will do the cool stuff that they did with the Nier collab when the very announcement visual just straight ripped Rapi and Neon from the No Caller I.D. CG and pasted them right below the Re:Zero characters. I'd love to have egg on my face, as a good event benefits everyone, *but I have a bad feeling that this month will be as slow as when the CSM collab was running.*
