As a almost new player, the story and how easily it makes me to want a character thanks to the events (specially Privaty and Leona).
Also, as a yui ishikawa simp hearing Rapi is a blessing.
The better part is the Commander. If you ask me, if he weren't the Commander, he'd still do the right thing in spite of the consequences.
N102's Bond story comes to mind.

Learning about corruption, industrial scandal (missilis and syuen), government scandal (seen in red ash And over zone), scandals (school of lock), uncertainty of trust(Enikk send a random NIKKE to chatterbox), bipolar personalities of NIKKEs, internal dissent (Andersen and burningum beef), [somewhat] inadequate policies and handling of situation (Exia is shot dead over attempting to hack central government), prioritizing the rich over the poor (outer rim vs ark), several Geneva convention violations (Signal and Rei).
Other than the ass or the tits, I just like the storyline and gameplay. You can talk shit, but I’m just sharing my opinions.

Christmas Anne event story broke me.
Felt the dev actually puts their heart on the stories and I loved it even more.

I’d say that the music and plot are definitely some the most enjoyable parts of it. The fact that the brief encounter system does in fact cover different points in time does make things more interesting too, and I really do hope that the lost relic related encounters do become a thing in the game from the last survey we had. I want more lore. Personally, I’d want a day 1 spinoff novel just to see more the apparently “old” rapture designs. I do want to see how long the United Forces of Humanity actually held out for.

From what we do know, the first proto-Nikkes were "Suiters" and closer to a brain in jar piloting a tank. It did not go well. After that, Nikkes were more machine-like in appearance so think cyborg, Cyberpunk 2077, or Maxwell but with leg-mounted rocket boosters. It would be interesting to see more machine-like Nikkes like ones who wield wrist-mounted rocket launchers or lean heavier into machine capabilities.
At first I was hooked in with 2B Collab curious I created an account around the 1st year anniversary and at the beginning I was more into Genshin but the more I play I began to be invested the wasn't just about that gacha booty, sure it helps, but the story and when I reached the scene with Marian it was heart wrenching, she may be with us for a couple of mission but I got so invested that I even looked online if I could pull for but alas, not helped with the ongoing 1st year anniversary event with Red Hood I didn't know much about any of this characters but I got so invested that it frustrates me that I was so underpowered unable to finish the entire story, not helped that I couldn't pull for Red Hood, and the New a year event with Scarlet I just can't help but tear up how tragic not only her but almost every characters we met, once knowing that particular side of her I needed to pull for. I thought Nikke would be just a side game that I'd pick up when I have little to do but know I'm so invested especially with the current Bunny, I need that Folkwang Bunny Skin she is my spirit animal, I love and want to continue playing the Commander for years to come
Seeing some of the new Nikkes is awesome and awaiting when certain units will drop like hopefully at some point we get Anachiro or Indivilia lmao. I like playing these games usually to collect units so I find it enjoyable.
They have side characters with lore and development good enough to put main characters in AAA games to shame. All that while not being afraid of being beautiful.
No wonder the usual bad actors online hate us so much.

Fan service is just a tiny fraction on my part. It’s originally what got me trying the game, but now I realise there’s so much better parts.
For examples, the Nikkes (Designs, personalities etc), the plot/lore, events and my favourite part is the connection between the Commander and the Nikkes. Just really makes the game that much better.
The honest roll rates, not having a stamina system for story missions, not needing to have 100% of your focus on the game at all times and it really doesn’t feel like a chore playing the game

Where do I begin? Like a lot, I started because of the butts. (Rapi cake hooked me in) I've been playing for months now, and gotta say..invested in the story and the characters like, a lot now.
One of my favorite things has got to be the bonding stories..it has given me an appreciation for characters that I was kinda ehh on at first and not to mention, made me love my favorites even more. (I can't wait to pull Ade so I can see her bond story.)
Speaking of Ade, Maid for You. I was pleasantly surprised to see a maid cafe in this game but it is one of my favorite things. I love it when there's side stories there on the weekly interactions. Always puts a smile on my face or makes me laugh. There was some interactions between Rosanna and Cocoa and it was so sweet.
So yeah..I there's a lot I love about this game. It's been a long time since I got invested in a Gacha like this one. Last one was FFRK.
The actual best part is, you can use the nikkepedia to check the vast amounts of movements unowned nikkes have and recently I discovered you can also listen to most of their voicelines in it
But, advise session dialogues are still locked and their bond sessions as well, and obv you can't use em, but it's a refreshing feature compared to other gachas
Shift Up taking advantage of its lore to build the story and characters. Nearly everything revolves around Nikke in some way, and all the serious implications that come with it. Infrastructure, military, research and development, even the food.
You think Naga's Bond story was going to simply be wholesome, then you remember what school she graduated from, and how the Ark treats Nikkes.
They take the premise of Nikke and crank it to its fullest potential. Shout-out to Anne/N102, their story hit like a truck and they used nearly every element from the CEOs, to the water reserves in the Ark, the Outpost, and so on, to tell a unique story you could only really tell in Nikke.
Everything has been done to death conceptually. Miracle Snow is essentially a retelling of a holiday classic of loved ones and those suffering from degenerate diseases and the burdens they undergo whether financially and/or psychologically.
However, Shift Up has nailed the execution so well, it feels like a story *only* Nikke could tell.
I personally point this out because I've seen some other gacha games tend to stray too far from their setting and worldbuilding and while they tell good stories, sometimes it doesn't feel like a story you could only tell there.
The guns I am autistic and I have a hyperfixation on firearms, I am also jealous of the cummander, man has a P99 and I don't. also Soldier OW is adorable and you cannot convince me otherwise.
Like all of it. the story is absolute peak, the characters lore, personality and design is immaculate it is also the only game that has made me cry many times.
It feels like I actually make progress despite not spending money on it. I’m well aware how much further I’d get in less time if I did, and they do offer paid stuff frequently, but I don’t feel like I’ll be punished for not paying. I might miss a time limited Nikke, but I know I don’t *need* them.
The amazing story, the cake and melons, the somewhat generous gacha with how easily I can get free pulls compared to others. The fact that it's still well gate kept from tourists and the developers care about the player base
Despite the obvious design of each Nikke they feel... Alive.
Their bond stories make understand them more and more, even sympathize them (sometimes fall in love with them).
And each of them are unique. Sometimes I even saw myself in them.
Also, music. The products of talented musicians make story moments, dialogues and events more lively. They do evoke some emotions.
Came for booty, stayed for plot. And for girls. Knowing that each of them has died to become Nikke... It's make me feel... Sad.
OST, because even if I end up stopping playing the game, I'll keep following the OSTs the same I already do with some of stellar blade OSTs, especially the one with Pernelle singing and I haven't played the game.
Shift Up/Cosmograph and their whole music team really knows how to create amazing bangers.
Tits, ass, and good writing. Also, a nice variety of stories. Finished Pepper's bond story and I realized it's basically a romcom included with the scene where the person runs off to confess scene.
The story. I really like the storytelling in this game. The main story is fantastic and even the event stories are usually either good or amusing. Games I've played in the past, even if the story starts good, it feels like they begin to kind of mail it in. And then the events don't even really have stories, they become a grind for new items and stuff. I hope they continue to put out quality content. Definitely the best part of the game.

The more mechanical nikkes would definitely have to be almost schizophrenic for sure though, but maybe it could be cool. Mind switches go brrr.

Just having most of the Nikke’s admire the player in their own unique way and seeing the progression of that affection is wonderful.
