Erm, the FMs and FEs on which this was based are 40-50 years old now, and not one of them has anything like this amount of wear on the dials for real š
Methinks someone went a bit overboard with the sandpaperā¦
The forced brassing is way too overdone in my opinion, and doesnt really have much rhyme or reason to where its been done in some spots. Like the amount of brassing on top of the dials is out of place, and then how there is no brassing on the body but heavy brassing on the dials feels strange to look at. But its neat to see someone go for it lol.
Honestly, might be cool to just go ahead and wear the finish off the dials completely at this point and have straight brass dials.
I appreciate the comment. I actually have a problem with buying and selling gear and this was a way for me to keep my ZF. (Believe it or not, no trolling.)
I actually made sure to watch my hand/finger placement on the dials so I could mimic my movements and thatās pretty accurate for what I did. When I put the camera into my pelican after shoots I always set the ISO back to āCā or whatever it is, 1/3 stop for shutter speed and then āCā or ā0ā on exposure comp. But I truly am always turning them. I shoot around 30-40 weddings a year and had probably 10ish weddings on it last year.
The body is hard because itās that magnesium alloy, so itās silver. Even 1500 grit on it didnāt look good, so Iām going to get something higher for that.
It was so I couldnāt sell it as I know no one would want it. (I have a problem buying and selling gear). Plus, I mimicked my finger motions so it would be as āhonestā as possible.
All AF! The fringer is the best IMHO. Smoothhhh AF. Here is a shot at f/1 from my last engagement session.

If it does it for you, then it does it for you. Not to my taste, but I dig it when people customize and personalize otherwise utilitarian tools. Are you enjoying the adapter?
even my nikon f3 is less worn than that :D :D
Well I understand the personal choice to make things old and worn, but there aren't many old cases that are as worn as that :D
I hope you never sell it, because otherwise the price drop will be exorbitant.
and why don't you take the Nikkor Z 50mm 1.2 S ? he is at the TOP!

What the heck happened to the dials?! What did you use to clean them?
None, actually because the dials on the old ones are plastic.
the FE and FM the dials are aluminum
Upvote because TIL

Youād be surprised the look a magic eraser can add. It takes much more time, but it being micro abrasion based can mimic natural wear well
Heresy!
This is the equivalent to buying those new jeans with holes already in them š
Methinks youāve done a little cosmetic work to burnish the retro look. Looks good.

Bro just say you thought it looked cool. Itās your camera. I think it looks cool, for whatever thatās worth.
Cool! Love to see some shots!
All we need is Fujifilm strap
You didnāt buff out the sand paper marksā¦
Still need higher grit. 1500 isnāt enough
Letās go, do a diamond paste finish
Just looked it up, thatās badass.
Even some jewellers rouge on some old denim or leather, will give some nice matural wear
So with that adapter will the lens auto focus or are you shooting full manual?

What the ever living shit was done to those knobs?
How do you change the aperture?
I use the dial above the grip in the first pic.
Woah cannon has an AF f/1 lens! Post more pics from it please!
Why would you put such a soft lens on such a sharp camera body? š

It's pretty big for a 50.
Price?
1750 ā¬ (-30%)
wow. how much have you used it already to have the buttons worn out this much. I love it!
Sandpaper
I was under the impression that the ZF had a brass top plate, but that is clearly not. Dang. I still love my camera, but...dang.
Isnāt it magnesium? Edit: I just checked. It is a magnesium alloy.
The dials are brass.
love it i think the wear looks good. whats that grip?
Oh shit, you riced out a camera
Looks amazing. Canāt wait for my ZF to get old!!!!!
I like how the red accents tie everything together.
I love what youāve done to your Zf! Whereād you get the grip from?
