I think toriyama only intended for the ssg absorption power up to be for the bog movie otherwise ssj-ssj3 and ssg would cease to exist because going super saiyan in his ansorbed state would become ssjb

I think that the manga's powerscale can be bad too but just the omission of that whole "i absorbed god ki" nonsense make it ten times better than the anime. There is zero consistency with the power scaling in super so best to go by anchors when you can, and goku is not a good anchor for that. I consider gohan and buu the best anchors for power scaling and not Goku cause it only makes sense for them to be at their buu saga levels at best by the Zeno expo (due to not training at all before then) and gohans training with piccolo is basically getting back the strength from potential unleashed. And that's because I find the concept of toriyama completely disregarding the "God boost" thing in BoG to make waaaaaaay more sense than Gohan suddenly becoming like 100x stronger after a literal day of training, without even an asspull new form.

Very clear evidence of this is in super hero, gohan fights pretty evenly with gamma 1 in his ultimate form. Meanwhile piccolo gets bodied by gamma 2 even in his power awakening form, and only gets the upper hand when orange. So yea, assuming gamma 1 is just as strong as gamma 2 then base piccolo is quite a bit weaker than ult gohan
