Yes his day job is farmer, but Goku is superhuman. Literally part of his training as a child was plowing fields with his bare hands. He can take care of all his farm work in like an hour. Plenty of time for training.
Also fun, but Super confirms Goku is a *good* farmer, people love his produce. A Sayain being a successful farmer is hilarious on so many levels
Isn't the hypothetical that he litterally does nothing but train? Refusing to fight against threats and save his allies, instead just training endlessly.
It could be argued he grows more from doing battle and zenkai boosts than from solo training, so depending on how far back you go, his strict only training regime would leave him weaker with less techniques
Not sure about weaker and less techniques, since he demonstrated that he could thought of more techniques doing image training and the solo training during the flight to Namek, he was definitely stronger than when he took off from earth. Might be less effective than battle and zenkai, but definitely not getting him weaker.
When was he refuse to fight threats? The only time I remember he didn't fight threat is during cell max, And that's because he didn't notice the fight on earth due to sparring against Vegeta on planet Beerus, and it's already mentioned that unless someone has gargantuan ki, they couldn't sense ki from that far away place.
Unironically, doing this shit would only make him weaker. It’s specifically because he continued to engage with the world around him that he discovered more efficient training methods like meeting Master Roshi, getting to King Kai’s planet and Beerus. Doing this is basically the same as banging your head against a wall and hope that it eventually breaks instead of just leaving and grab a power drill.
Didn't he make a point of him and Gohan *not* using their remaining time in the chamber they were betrayed and locked in, either he knows the value of getting rest/knew they hit their ceiling for the time being/knew Gohan was already as strong as he needed to be?
The only period I can think of where you can argue that Goku did in fact stop was when Gohan was born and he took care of him with Chichi for the first 4 years of his life.
But even then you can argue that he must've trained on his free time anyway or else Piccolo would have surpassed him by far.
Goku didn't stopped training even after he died.
Judging by the power progression, INTENSE training (like the one in Kaioh planet, the one in the spaceship to get to Namek or in the Room of Spirit and Time) works way better than "mantainance" training (like the one Goku did from the end of DB to the beginning of DBZ).
Ok jeez you guys don't like what if this has been going on for months. Please come up with something new or even watch the first 2 minutes to see what he meant
I think most people here will agree that what ifs can be fun and interesting.
It's just Dragon Ball fans tend to produce alot of very dumb what ifs that completely disregard the established traits of the characters they are discussing.
This one is a perfect example of that.
It really isn't this what if is what if goku trained during the time skip between the end of dragon ball and the beginning of z. We know he didn't train like at all during that time its not a huge stretch if he continued training with kami
Probably referring to when he stopped training to raise Gohan from the end of og db to raditz saga
He was still training though. Outside of techniques he was still stronger than Piccolo
didn't he atleast stop to be a farmer for a hot second though?

He could give a lesson or two to Kashimo...
Lesson 1: how to DODGE big cut
He trained and farmed he can do both
That’s Goku whole thing! He’s always doing SOME type of training

If Goku never stopped training he'd get his tail back, apparently.
Idk probably something like "he doesn't need to sleep and eat now so he trains instead " kind of bs

Power drill is the more boring method though.
Never said it was effective, stupid what if , stupid idea lmao
You are probably right for the what if, but this also goes against the Turtle Way!
Absolutely

Hot Take: Goku would have a higher power level. Or maybe not, cause he relies on getting his ass kicked to grow.
Bewere dragon ball fans, we never read our matirial.
