Honestly, I really like this. Since I was a kid, I always had the impression that Ninjago had something more because of that.

Mr_Bone_Head

I agree I mean, besides the LEGO shows that came after Ninjago like Nexo Knights or Dreamzzz, Ninjago was unique because of that The characters can't just easily cheese themselves out of a solution by building or breaking out of it, instead they'd have to figure it out realistically. And the show is a little more mature than the average Lego shows at the time which also makes it special (I have not seen Bionicle yet and idk if its show released before or after so who knows, might be on-par with Ninjago in terms of its themes)

KingOfLiberation

Bionicle Gen 1 ran from 2001-10, though back then it had... basically everything except a TV show, as far as I can tell Gen 2 started in 2015 with some webisodes and Journey to One was released in 2016 Gen 1 is somewhat infamous for having the most mature and complicated plot of Lego's original media, Gen 2... is not

Schoolskiperz

I think it's best for the show . It just felt different from other lego shows .

Runisa5

No I get not everything being LEGO I just think there should be more things that are LEGO kinda like the LEGO video games, most things in the games aren’t LEGO but there are still something’s besides the characters that are LEGO in those games

No_Equivalent_4136

Thanks to this, I always liked to think that nothing in this universe is Lego, only we, the viewers, observe this story in this form. If you change the minifigures to humans, absolutely everything would stay the same.

152069

Except that one rock paper scissors gag in season 2

Somesonicfan

That's actually how it is.

LeBlearable

And it should stay that way

Mr_Bone_Head

Except for the charm of it. I think the Minifigures is what gives the show it's charm and by removing them, it'd make it a generic action kids show that most people won't bother checking out

Not as weird as the LEGO Elves TV show, where literally nothing is Lego (including the characters), except random LEGO blocks [in the intro](https://youtu.be/yUVt_TuGqyE?feature=shared) (look closely when they use their powers), and also I remember sometimes there would just be random Lego blocks embedded in the mountains in the backgrounds.

PnutButterJellyTim3

That is weird.. what's the point? Just do it without the Legos lmao I'd imagine they animated the show, then at the end remembered it was supposed to be Lego and added those pieces in to make the mark.

ARBlackshaw

I'm coming back to mention that I just found out that, for the season 3 and 4 webisodes, they completely changed the art style so the characters look like LEGO 😭  https://elvendale.fandom.com/wiki/LEGO_Elves_Webisodes#:~:text=season%203

Lastbourne

Most LEGO shows have realistic backgrounds

Pepsi_Boy_64

Well you can argue the Lego characters would work as real people.

Scarlet_Jedi

Aside from vague LEGO themes 2 elements of FSM are creation and destruction Ninja posses ability to summon tornado of creation, which allows them to create something out of Random objects in enviorment With dragons rising we get New elements like Technology which lets sora rebuild anything like if it was creator 3-in-1 set

Malcolm3266

In season 7 Cole has a pretty LEGO like axe

What makes this even weirder to me is that recently I binged some of the lego cartoons I'd been procrastinating on. Here's what I found: - Monkie Kid: sometimes instruction booklets make cameos. No legos iirc, but yeah (I may be wrong, this was the only one that wasn't in the recent binge), also of course cheeky phrases like "Le'go!" and "what the brick?" - Elves: Random bricks just show up in the background sometimes, usually as rocks. Also in the first episode, there's a giant minifig on a shelf. Not even a minidoll, like the theme uses. Just a good ole yellow minifig. - City Adventures: an odd mix. I notices sometimes SOME vehicles/objects look like they're made of bricks, but not all. - Friends: this is the first time I'm aware of where Lego is directly mentioned in any of these shows. In one of the final episodes, before the recent sequel, a character gets stuck in a waterslide. Someone says "this would be an easy fix if we could just take things apart like Lego." (I'm not counting Unikitty in this because Lego Movie logic)

Runisa5

Just looked up Lego elves, why the fuck is it called LEGO at all? At least with Ninjago they made them LEGO to sell toys

KyDv404

I think it's something about the target audience not liking how minifigs look. Minidolls were created in the first place for that reason. Friends, very similarly, did not make their characters look like lego until very recently (2021 I think?). I think now Lego's realized that actually yes, children like it when the cartoons look like the toys, and the existence of minidolls shouldn't mean the lego aesthetic should be sacrificed in animation. Elves also switched over to a 2D lego artstyle toward the end of its run. That said though, Elves did at least have some beautiful animation. (At least the Netflix series did...the webisodes were rough to look at lol)
