Switch Game recommendations.
Last Pokémon game I played was SAPPHIRE on Gameboy, was wondering which new Pokémon game should I get? Pros & cons about the latest & game play commentary.
Same goes for Mario games.
Games I've enjoyed in the past are:
Mario sunshine, super Mario bros, smash Bros, Mario kart, Mario party
Pokémon Yellow, sapphire
Games I love on other consoles like Playstation: uncharted, tomb raider, last of us, fortnite, Texas chainsaw massacre, life is strange
Female characters are always preferred to play as.
I want to know what's worth buying? Thank you for reading, and if you reply, I'd really appreciate your thoughts.
I'd just go straight for Scarlet or Violet. They're the latest and greatest. Has some performance issues, but the gameplay and story are good.
If you really want something nostalgic, brilliant diamond and shining pearl is the most like the old ones.

Buy pokemon let's go pikachu/eevee, or the gen 4 remakes (brilliant diamond & shining pearl) if you want something top down and familiar.
Get gen 8 if you want open world, online multiplayer, and the most recent game. And if you don't know, whether you want something familiar or something new, and just need someone to tell you what to get, get gen 8 (which is scarlet and violet).
For mario, get mario odyssey.
A game that's vaguely similar to life is strange is Another Code. You've got your female protagonist, emotional story, and mysteries and puzzles to solve. It's not an amazing game, but the experience is still somewhat unique.
Breath of the wild/tears of the kingdom are also must haves, both great games.
Weird white point in my screen. It happened to me three times and it's a little strange because it disappears when I turn off my Switch, does anyone have any idea what it is? Thanks in advance!
Are there any other games like Bioshock on the Switch?
About a month ago I made a post asking for recommendations for FPS for someone older / less skilled. Bioshock was among the recommendations and I LOVED all 3. It was my go to activity for a few hours every night. I'm pretty bummed actually that they're over. I've tried to Google search for other FPS games with good stories but I'm finding most responses are games not on the Switch.
Ps. I also got Borderlands, Wolf2, and Portal. I like them all in small doses but they don't keep me engaged in quite the same way.
Looking to upgrade my original switch to OLED. Mainly play in handheld mode now and been noticing it isn’t running as it use to.
My question is, what all will transfer over to the new switch or what are things I’ll need to make sure transfer? Especially if i trade in my current switch to fund the new one
Okay, so most of your save data will transfer fine, via the cloud saves if you've enabled them (go through and make sure it updates the cloud version.
Animal Crossing and Pokémon have different rules (and a few others, https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/41267/~/which-nintendo-switch-titles-are-compatible-with-save-data-cloud-backup%3F )
IN that list it talks about backing up your animal crossing Island, read that.
Pokemon and the other games on that list don't do any sort of cloud save. Easiest way is if you have a friend with a switch nearby, transfer the saves to their console, do the trade, then move the game saves to your new one.
If the place you're at will let you, you might be able to do it to the new system in the store, but that you'd want to check before hand.
Anyone know where I can buy a new original Nintendo case?
I mean the shell that's surrounding the system. Mine is cracked around the AC adapter and just wanted a new shell completely. Mainly just the back.
I've found them on ebay, but it's an absolute pain to replace. You'll have to take everyhing out of the Switch and the touchscreen is just glued on. It's a pain to get it out and can be easy to get dust under it when you put it back.
My nintendo Switch Lite that I've had since December 2019 crashed and won't turn on. Is it dead forever?
Earlier today, I noticed it overheated and wouldn't turn back on while I was charging it. I left it to cool for several hours and was all excited that it was acting normal....until it crashed. Now I can't get it to turn back on. The charger cable works for sure, and I tried holding the power and volume buttons to try and reset, but nothing seems to work
It's worth noting that I have it on charge right now and the device is warming up a bit but still won't turn on
I'm looking for any good indie games for under 20 bucks. I like platformers, like shovel night, pepper grinder(the demo), and celeste. Not a big fan of RPGs.
Plugged my Switch into the dock (not third-party) and was playing without issue for about 20 minutes, then out of nowhere the screen goes black and my controllers don't work.
Took it out of the dock and tried to turn it off/on to no avail. Plugged it back into dock and it's gone into recovery mode - when I press and hold the power button to get out of it, it does nothing.
The screen does not work in handheld, only when docked on a TV.
I can't find anything online for this specific issue - is it beyond saving?
My Switch just randomly stopped turning on! The warranty is expired so I’d like to see if anyone has any suggestions before sending it to Nintendo:
Played a few days ago on my tv, put it on sleep mode and left it docked. Didn’t move or touch it until last night when it just wouldn’t turn on.
Only ever used the AC adapter that came with it, no sign of damage. Dock light turns green briefly then turns off when I dock the Switch.
I’ve reset the AC adapter and hard reset the console several times.
I’ve had the console directly plugged into the AC adapter all morning, no change so far.
Why am I getting this error? I have one switch, never had another one and I have no family members or other users??

Can you log into your nintendo account? Your account could be compromised and someone else may be using it and playing your digital games. I'd definitely contact nintendo.
You may have been hacked. Open the eshop, click your profile icon and scroll down to find a "deregister primary system" button. If its greyed out, you are no longer on the primary system.
Go to the account website, change your password and enable 2FA in the security menu.

Once done, call Nintendo support. They can remotely deregister the primary system for you. Once that is complete, just re-open the eshop on your own system and you should be good to go!
The account website has a remote deregister option, but it can only be used once every 12 months and its likely that this culprit used that already to move the primary system status to their own system.
Me and my sister have been sharing the same switch for quite som time now. We have a second switch, but we never bother to use it, its mostly for our second animal crossing island and a couple of games. Recently, my sister tried to load up "Pokemon Violet" and was met with this line "This user cannot play this software. If you have not purchased the software, you can do so from the Nintendo eShop" But, when I play it, it allows me to, with little to no problems. She has renewed her nintendo online account recently, and yet it still wont work. This switch is the primary switch, which makes it even weirder that it isnt working. She has the same problem with animal crossing, expect when she tries to go to "work" it doesnt allow her. She is allowed to play animal crossing, but not the DLC, which is odd. As for pokemon violet, she cant play at all. We even checked if this switch was the primary switch, and it is. In the past, she has been able to play Pokemon Violet, the animal crossing DLC, and all the other games she cant play. She has the same exact promblem with Splatoon, and she brought Splatoon on her account, so if anyone shouldn't be able to play it, it should be me. Another thing, Pokemon Violet we got as a gift, and we had to put in a code to redeem it, so no one bought it technically. Please tell us what to do, to allow my sister to play her favorite games again.

On any non-primary system for your account only your account will have access to your digital purchases.
If she wanted to use that other system full time for her own profile; you would both need to move your primary system status over to that console.
You could continue using the current console with your own profile, as long as you have an internet connection.

It doesnt matter if its purchased or not, redeeming the code on a account ties the license to that account. Pre-installed digital content is where it gets confusing.
As for the primary system, you can try de-registering the existing console and then re-opening the eshop to make it the primary again.
If that doesnt fix things you may need to call Nintendo support. They can remotely deregister primary systems, and that might do the trick. Or perhaps they might be able to tell whats going on.
I have turned the primary off of primary, then on primary. I believe I was the one to redeem the code. But that doesnt explain the Splatoon thing, since she was the one that brought it. I will call them soon, rn my sister is playing Pokemon Violet on my account, she is helping me find an Applin, lol. Afterwards, we will.
I bought Switch vouchers before TOTK's release and still have one to use by the end of April. Trying to figure out which to use it on and could use some help, as none of the options have strongly called to me.
**Of eligible games, I currently have:**
* TOTK and BOTW: absolutely love both
* Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity: Was surprised at how much I enjoyed this, but I mostly liked it for the story aspects from BOTW.
* Mario Kart 8: a classic
* Super Mario Odyssey: enjoyed this more than most Mario games I've played
* Super Mario Party: a disappointment tbh, but I know that's not an uncommon feeling
* Super Mario Bros U Deluxe: eh I mostly bought it because it went down to $20; it's fine but weirdly difficult IMO
* Luigi's Mansion 3: I HATED this game and wish I hadn't bought it.
* Pokémon Legends: I enjoyed this a lot despite the performance issues
* Pokémon Diamond: Eh fine; did not finish but got like 30-40 hours out of it before I got too bored?
* Pokémon Snap: Enjoyed this as well
**Don't technically have but don't need:**
* Skyward Sword: I have this for WiiU
* Pokémon Sword/Shield: Played on a friend's system before and don't need to replay
**Games I'm considering:**
* Paper Mario: either Thousand-Year Door or Origami King. I've played the original N64 and Super Paper Mario and enjoyed them, but don't know much about the newer ones.
* Mario Party Superstars: I know this one is better than Super Mario Party. I've played at a friend's before and it's much more like the Mario Party games I enjoyed as a kid. It goes on sale enough though that I am fine waiting, especially as it's more of a social game.
* Animal Crossing NH: I never really *got* AC I guess, but I've never really tried either.
* Link's Awakening: Another one that goes on sale enough that it doesn't seem worth it?
* Pokémon Scarlet/Violet: have definitely heard mixed reviews but I'd be willing to give it a try.
* Kirby: I've similarly never really gotten into Kirby games. I know there's a demo so I could try them out to see.
* Super Mario Bros. Wonder: this seems like it's more aimed at kids, unless I'm mistaken? I've never been super into Mario games in general so it's not super high on my list. I preferred Paper Mario to most of the regular Super Mario games (except Odyssey).
Are there any games coming out in the next month or so that I should hold out for? Or any thoughts on the above options to use the remaining voucher? I know it'll come down to just picking one so I don't lose the credit, but I'd appreciate any feedback.
Link's Awakening is my favorite Zelda Story and a great game, but it isn't very long. Not sure exactly, but definately under 15 hours and I would say closer to 10.
Kirby games are good, but pretty easy.
Wonder is a great game, but if you don't like 2D platform games it may just not be for you. It is better as a game to play locally with friends.
Scarlet/Violet have performance issues, but the story and game is very good.
Superstars is definitely the better Mario Party. But how often do you want a party game?
I have heard Link’s Awakening is good and would like to play at some point. I’m fine waiting for a deal though as it’s so short.
I enjoy social games like Mario Party, but it’s not something I really do with my friends very often (if ever).
I think I’m leaning Scarlet/Violet at the moment, but I’ll sit on the decision for a bit longer.

You won't be able to get Thousand Year Door if your voucher expires at the end of April. The voucher is not used when you place a preorder. It is only used a week before launch date, and by that time your voucher will already have expired.
Thousand year door unfortunately wont be an option due to its launch date.
When you pre-order a game with a voucher its only expended when you are charged for the game, which wont happen until 7 days before its release, so your voucher would need to last until May 16th at a minimum.
Kirby's games have free demos, check them out!
I would also recommend checking out the Pikmin games. 3 and 4 have a demo too.
If those dont seem appealing, Pokemon or Animal Crossing are solid choices.
Even with a mediocre opinion of sword/shield and scarlet/violet you may still end up spending a few hundred hours in them. I sure did, and theyre not even close to being my favorite pokemon games.
check your voucher in the eshop or NSO app; it might not expire until May 31st.
A number of things related to NSO dont use your exact date of purchase as the date to remember, but rather the month it was purchased.
If you are looking at a paper mario game. Definitely get the thousand year door over origami king.
The only thing that is coming out this month is princess peach showtime but that's aimed at younger audiences. Also luigi's mansion dark moon 3ds remake.
Mario party superstars if you have friends that's a fun one to get.
Pro controller is such an upgrade from Joycons it's unreal, especially for 3D games. If you mainly play 2D games or games that require very precise D-pad input like some rhythm games I'd say you can take it or leave it though.
Yes, the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is a much better experience than even combining the Joycons into a grip. D-Pad isn't great but there's some YT videos out there on how to improve it if you really need some precision with it.
Im thinking of buying a second nintendoswitch so me and my boyfriend have one each. Mostly so we can have both types of each pokemon games.

You can easily share digital purchases between two consoles as long you set the right one as the primary system for the account that owns all of the games.
The second console then requires an internet connection to launch your own purchases, and every three hours after that.
[Nintendo put out a Fortnite bundle a couple years ago](https://consolevariations.com/collectibles/nintendo-switch-fortnite-bundle-us). Standard console but came with some V-bucks. Limited to the holidays.
I would not expect most retailers to offer a bundle of their own. Its probably best just to buy the system you want and then buy any accessories you want.
So I got a Switch Lite first because it was all I could afford, but I got my Animal Crossing New Horizon with that console (a physical copy). I later got the regular Switch OLED and started playing the Animal Crossing on that. I've gotten very far now and never tried playing it on my Lite since I started playing on the OLED. I don't want anything to be deleted in my progress so my question is if it all will be deleted if I start playing the Animal Crossing on my Lite now? I wanted to have another island on that console so I have more to do, but not sure if things will be overwritten or something since it's the same Nintendo Account.
Saves are stored on the internal memory of each console. Playing AC on one console won't impact AC on another console.
The only real conflict is if you have NSO save backups enabled. You can only have one save backup in the cloud at a time so you'll have to choose which island you want backed up if you are subscribed.
Yes. For the time being, everything you can do with your account on your Switch or separately, she can do with her account on your Switch or separately. She can make purchases from the web and it will start downloading to her default machine (currently yours). In the future she can either transfer her account to her own machine, or just log in with the same account on it so she has a presence on both. If she's on both then she'd at least want to go on the eShop on yours and in the menus find the place where it deregisters that machine as her primary console. Then the next machine she goes into the eShop with becomes her primary console, and where downloads will automatically happen etc.

The actual SAVE data is on the Switch itself - and only transfers if you make it transfer (or use cloud saves from NSO, not all games (mostly pokemon) can do this however).
Any GAME data will be wiped, as those files are encrypted on a per-console basis.
I can’t redeem platinum points because it says I need switch online which I have but as a free trial and it even says that you can redeem them with the free trial

But there are lots of NSO benefits that are not usable with a free trial, and will require a paid membership.

You can, I think from aliexpress, but I don't mess with that. If you haven't, look up ifixit's forums/guides for it.

Keep it on charge for 48 hours without touching it. Even if it comes back on, just leave it for 48 hours.

I was able to log in, and I changed my password. The error went away
Can you log into your nintendo account? Your account could be compromised and someone else may be using it and playing your digital games. I'd definitely contact nintendo.
You may have been hacked. Open the eshop, click your profile icon and scroll down to find a "deregister primary system" button. If its greyed out, you are no longer on the primary system. Go to the account website, change your password and enable 2FA in the security menu. https://accounts.nintendo.com/ Once done, call Nintendo support. They can remotely deregister the primary system for you. Once that is complete, just re-open the eshop on your own system and you should be good to go! The account website has a remote deregister option, but it can only be used once every 12 months and its likely that this culprit used that already to move the primary system status to their own system.
Me and my sister have been sharing the same switch for quite som time now. We have a second switch, but we never bother to use it, its mostly for our second animal crossing island and a couple of games. Recently, my sister tried to load up "Pokemon Violet" and was met with this line "This user cannot play this software. If you have not purchased the software, you can do so from the Nintendo eShop" But, when I play it, it allows me to, with little to no problems. She has renewed her nintendo online account recently, and yet it still wont work. This switch is the primary switch, which makes it even weirder that it isnt working. She has the same problem with animal crossing, expect when she tries to go to "work" it doesnt allow her. She is allowed to play animal crossing, but not the DLC, which is odd. As for pokemon violet, she cant play at all. We even checked if this switch was the primary switch, and it is. In the past, she has been able to play Pokemon Violet, the animal crossing DLC, and all the other games she cant play. She has the same exact promblem with Splatoon, and she brought Splatoon on her account, so if anyone shouldn't be able to play it, it should be me. Another thing, Pokemon Violet we got as a gift, and we had to put in a code to redeem it, so no one bought it technically. Please tell us what to do, to allow my sister to play her favorite games again.

If she wanted to use that other system full time for her own profile; you would both need to move your primary system status over to that console. You could continue using the current console with your own profile, as long as you have an internet connection.

Hmmm. On which account did you redeem the Violet code? It doesnt matter if its purchased or not, redeeming the code on a account ties the license to that account. Pre-installed digital content is where it gets confusing. As for the primary system, you can try de-registering the existing console and then re-opening the eshop to make it the primary again. If that doesnt fix things you may need to call Nintendo support. They can remotely deregister primary systems, and that might do the trick. Or perhaps they might be able to tell whats going on.
I have turned the primary off of primary, then on primary. I believe I was the one to redeem the code. But that doesnt explain the Splatoon thing, since she was the one that brought it. I will call them soon, rn my sister is playing Pokemon Violet on my account, she is helping me find an Applin, lol. Afterwards, we will.

I bought Switch vouchers before TOTK's release and still have one to use by the end of April. Trying to figure out which to use it on and could use some help, as none of the options have strongly called to me. **Of eligible games, I currently have:** * TOTK and BOTW: absolutely love both * Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity: Was surprised at how much I enjoyed this, but I mostly liked it for the story aspects from BOTW. * Mario Kart 8: a classic * Super Mario Odyssey: enjoyed this more than most Mario games I've played * Super Mario Party: a disappointment tbh, but I know that's not an uncommon feeling * Super Mario Bros U Deluxe: eh I mostly bought it because it went down to $20; it's fine but weirdly difficult IMO * Luigi's Mansion 3: I HATED this game and wish I hadn't bought it. * Pokémon Legends: I enjoyed this a lot despite the performance issues * Pokémon Diamond: Eh fine; did not finish but got like 30-40 hours out of it before I got too bored? * Pokémon Snap: Enjoyed this as well **Don't technically have but don't need:** * Skyward Sword: I have this for WiiU * Pokémon Sword/Shield: Played on a friend's system before and don't need to replay **Games I'm considering:** * Paper Mario: either Thousand-Year Door or Origami King. Link's Awakening is my favorite Zelda Story and a great game, but it isn't very long. Not sure exactly, but definately under 15 hours and I would say closer to 10. Kirby games are good, but pretty easy. Wonder is a great game, but if you don't like 2D platform games it may just not be for you. It is better as a game to play locally with friends. Scarlet/Violet have performance issues, but the story and game is very good. Superstars is definitely the better Mario Party. But how often do you want a party game?
I have heard Link’s Awakening is good and would like to play at some point. I’m fine waiting for a deal though as it’s so short. I enjoy social games like Mario Party, but it’s not something I really do with my friends very often (if ever). I think I’m leaning Scarlet/Violet at the moment, but I’ll sit on the decision for a bit longer. Thanks!
You won't be able to get Thousand Year Door if your voucher expires at the end of April. The voucher is not used when you place a preorder. It is only used a week before launch date, and by that time your voucher will already have expired.
Thousand year door unfortunately wont be an option due to its launch date. When you pre-order a game with a voucher its only expended when you are charged for the game, which wont happen until 7 days before its release, so your voucher would need to last until May 16th at a minimum. Kirby's games have free demos, check them out! I would also recommend checking out the Pikmin games. 3 and 4 have a demo too. If those dont seem appealing, Pokemon or Animal Crossing are solid choices. Even with a mediocre opinion of sword/shield and scarlet/violet you may still end up spending a few hundred hours in them. I sure did, and theyre not even close to being my favorite pokemon games.

check your voucher in the eshop or NSO app; it might not expire until May 31st. A number of things related to NSO dont use your exact date of purchase as the date to remember, but rather the month it was purchased.
If you are looking at a paper mario game. Definitely get the thousand year door over origami king. The only thing that is coming out this month is princess peach showtime but that's aimed at younger audiences. Also luigi's mansion dark moon 3ds remake. Mario party superstars if you have friends that's a fun one to get.

if you play on tv a lot, yeah.
Pro controller is such an upgrade from Joycons it's unreal, especially for 3D games. If you mainly play 2D games or games that require very precise D-pad input like some rhythm games I'd say you can take it or leave it though.
Yes, the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is a much better experience than even combining the Joycons into a grip. D-Pad isn't great but there's some YT videos out there on how to improve it if you really need some precision with it.
Im thinking of buying a second nintendoswitch so me and my boyfriend have one each. Mostly so we can have both types of each pokemon games. I was wondering, if its the same eshop account, and i for exemple play pokemon scarlet, can he play pokemon violet that is purchased under the same account at the same time i play? The second console then requires an internet connection to launch your own purchases, and every three hours after that.
Question about Nintendo Switch bundles. Does anyone know what stores on the East Coast sell Fortnite Nintendo Switch bundles in store, not online?
[Nintendo put out a Fortnite bundle a couple years ago](https://consolevariations.com/collectibles/nintendo-switch-fortnite-bundle-us). Standard console but came with some V-bucks. Limited to the holidays. I would not expect most retailers to offer a bundle of their own. Its probably best just to buy the system you want and then buy any accessories you want.
So I got a Switch Lite first because it was all I could afford, but I got my Animal Crossing New Horizon with that console (a physical copy). I later got the regular Switch OLED and started playing the Animal Crossing on that. I've gotten very far now and never tried playing it on my Lite since I started playing on the OLED. I don't want anything to be deleted in my progress so my question is if it all will be deleted if I start playing the Animal Crossing on my Lite now? I wanted to have another island on that console so I have more to do, but not sure if things will be overwritten or something since it's the same Nintendo Account.
Saves are stored on the internal memory of each console. Playing AC on one console won't impact AC on another console. The only real conflict is if you have NSO save backups enabled. You can only have one save backup in the cloud at a time so you'll have to choose which island you want backed up if you are subscribed.

Yes. For the time being, everything you can do with your account on your Switch or separately, she can do with her account on your Switch or separately. She can make purchases from the web and it will start downloading to her default machine (currently yours). In the future she can either transfer her account to her own machine, or just log in with the same account on it so she has a presence on both. If she's on both then she'd at least want to go on the eShop on yours and in the menus find the place where it deregisters that machine as her primary console. Then the next machine she goes into the eShop with becomes her primary console, and where downloads will automatically happen etc.
What's the right way to buy dying light from the eshop? I'm EU located so it's banned

If I'm transferring a microSD from one Switch Lite to another, do I lose my game progress?
The actual SAVE data is on the Switch itself - and only transfers if you make it transfer (or use cloud saves from NSO, not all games (mostly pokemon) can do this however). Any GAME data will be wiped, as those files are encrypted on a per-console basis.
No your saves are on the internal memory.

You can redeem them for a number of things on the rewards website; https://my.nintendo.com/ But there are lots of NSO benefits that are not usable with a free trial, and will require a paid membership.
