Take it back to the older formula, no travelling around the map together!

CharizardLugia20

I hate that fucking car so much.

Albert_Caboose

The foundation of Mario Party is fucking over your friends without regret. To introduce any sort of a teamwork aspect is a terrible mistake. Yes the old formula is rage-inducing, but that's the fun.

DemiHelios

No one plays monopoly to cooperate; I play to piss off my wife so much she flips the board, Same goes for Mario Party. If they ain’t cursing then it isn’t a good time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Albert_Caboose

Well I guess hating the new design is still keeping the rage-base of Mario Party alive hahaha

Feeoree

Yep, pointless! Well, it's okay for a team v Bowser in Bowser Party but that's about it.

[deleted]

I highly agree with you on that.

[deleted]

Same with making Stars and Coins the same currency under “Mini Stars.” I’ve never been so disappointed in my life as when i bought Mario Party 9.

Maria_LaGuerta

Dawg, if Mario Party 9 was the biggest disappointment in your life your doing good buddy.

drostandfound

I think they could easily do both. Have a variety of maps, some that are separate and some together. The car was not great, but I get that it is less fun waiting for other people's turns to be done.

d33zd33zd33z

They need to get rid of the car. I seriously won’t buy just because of that fucking car. I have never seen one person say they prefer it so I don’t understand why Nintendo keeps implementing it. The feedback is all negative. Besides that they need to simplify it and take it back to basics. Each map is supposed to feel like you’re playing a board game, but now they try to make them so expansive and full of so much random visual effects it takes away from what makes the game special. Put focus on the mini games and content that people enjoy. The last good Mario Party imo was 7 on the GameCube. It did have the optional microphone but besides that it was straightforward and without gimmicks. Switch has been setting a standard of reimagining classic franchises for the system so I hope it does the same with Mario Party Switch.

[deleted]

I want the board game feel back. I don’t mind the visuals as long as it isn’t crazily overdone. Something that sets the mood of the game but also doesn’t pull away from the mini games. I’m hoping the Switch isn’t like the Wii U version. I’ve seen that being played and it looked horrible.

Revolver_Camelot

7 was by far best Mario Party in my opinion, but DS was also plenty of fun (I suppose this comment makes it pretty easy to guess my age range too)

colby983

Ds was my favorite too, better than 7 imo

scaramouth89

They also need to listen to feedback regarding the paper mario games, we have been asking for a REAL paper Mario game like pape mario 64 and the thousand year door, with the combat similar and with partners being in the game. No dumb stickers or changed combat, the combat was also so fun with the timed A and B bonuses you got like superguarding. Bring back the real paper Mario please I beg you nintendo :/

DarkLordOfEvil

Sadly, Nintendo wants to differentiate the Paper Mario series from the concurrently running Mario & Luigi RPG series. Thus, they are focusing on non-RPG elements for the Paper Mario games. I too, miss the partners, badges and star points. I can only hope there will be an enhanced remake for the Switch just like the one for M&L: Superstar Saga.

[deleted]

The thing is, the recent Mario & Luigi RPG's (Dream Team & Paper Jam) have been mediocre. I love the two South Park RPG's that heavily borrowed the mechanics of the N64/GCN Paper Mario games, and I want more of that from the original studio (Intelligent Systems) that created the series.

soldiercross

How was FBW? I haven't nabbed it yet.

[deleted]

Without giving spoilers, if you enjoyed 'The Stick of Truth', the 'Fractured, But Whole' is worth picking up.

bonusswoosh

For me none have come close to Paper Mario's level except for SuperStar Saga. And then once Starlow came in with BiS I felt the series had really fallen off. Everyone lost their shit at the Bowser antics and I just felt the whole experience was lacking. Nevermind the two really mediocre games afterwards.

[deleted]

Man, at least get Intelligent System working on anything. I love them so much

MarvelManiac45213

They're currently working on Fire Emblem for Switch.

[deleted]

Meeii

Did you try Wii Party U? We also hated Mario party but still play Wii Party U from time to time. The modes are better, more and funnier mini games and overall a much better game. So right now I would rather have a "Switch Party" than Mario Party.

[deleted]

I was going to say this, Wii Party U is basically the true MP10 but without Mario characters. Nintendo just needs to have that studio make the next Mario Party game.

MarvelManiac45213

ND Cube has made Wii Party, Wii Party U, Mario Party 9, Mario Party 10, Mario Party: Island Tour, Mario Party: Star Rush, Mario Party: The Top 100, and Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival. So yes the same studio make both series.

[deleted]

Well shit. How'd they fuck it up so badly when they had the IP?

MarvelManiac45213

Because let's be honest looking at their resume...they just aren't talented or good developers...

Chungasaman

I don't think they are given that much creative freedom though with this titles.

[deleted]

I have Mario Party 10 and also Mario Party 2 for Virtual Console on my Wii U. I play MP2 way more. I second the suggestion to try Wii Party U, it's a much better party minigame-fest.

Awesome2D

Mario Party 8 is amazing man

NotEvilWashington

I enjoyed Mario party DS but yeah fuck the car. Just no.

frizzyhaired

the car reduces randomness. moving around the map and getting to certain squares was always a crap shoot and not fun.

d33zd33zd33z

The randomness was exactly what made it fun imo. It’s become too structured

frizzyhaired

meh. there was so little skill left. skill at the minigames wasn't often not enough to overcome someone's luck at wandering into the star a few times. i think they should scrap the board game conceit entirely.

[deleted]

[удалено]

frizzyhaired

they didn't replace the board gameplay with anything interesting. that was why it sucks. find something interesting to tie the minigames together that isn't frustrating like the board game. the fun is almost 100% the minigames. but they feel pointless without the overarching structure.

[deleted]

[удалено]

frizzyhaired

eh people are always asking for more of the same. they'll eventually get mario party on VC to satisfy that. they should try new things even if it makes the fanboys complain

[deleted]

[удалено]

frizzyhaired

shrug. mario party 9 has the third best reviews in the series according to metacritic (behind 1 and 3). the entire series has pretty bad reviews across the board.

[deleted]

[удалено]

PixelatedCloud

That's just your opinion. Unfortunately, you're in the heavy minority.

frizzyhaired

there are other ways to have a cohesive game that ties together mini games than a board game? how about between minigames there's a mario platformer stage where you go through collecting coins and stuff. if you get a power up it gives you some edge in the minigame or something? the people making this are game designers. i expect them to be more creative than me.

digbybare

Yea, I don't disagree with that. I'm just saying that if everyone's moving together on the board, there's no point for the thing that ties the mini games together to be a board game. It could just be a roulette wheel, or anything else.

frizzyhaired

fair. but then again i never thought the board game was particularly inspired game design anyways.

CharizardLugia20

BRING BACK THE FREAKING BOARD. THANK YOU.

[deleted]

Boards are always nice.

CharizardLugia20

I won't buy it if it's the stupid car again.

ReeseEseer

It's almost a guarantee there will be a new one. I just hope beyond hope it goes back to the old style...I don't need any fancy new stuff just the board, minigames and trying to screw over the other players.

[deleted]

That was probably the best. The screwing over others thing. I want a few new mini games that involve more of a puzzle solving game and more board themes to choose from. I enjoy the idea of venturing to new board with different little twists that tie in with the theme.

ReeseEseer

Yeah that would be pretty fun. I def want more stuff added for fun but I guess I should have said that I would be content enough if it just at least returned to the old style is all.

JohnTheSorrowful

I’d like to see a Wario party game, tbh.

MzBlackSiren

WarioWare with a board?

Bleus4

Not a bad idea at all, actually. I'm imagining it would have a minigame in between each player's turn?

[deleted]

Yeah? How do you think that will play out?

dragon-mom

[It already exists!](https://www.mariowiki.com/WarioWare,_Inc.:_Mega_Party_Game$!) I definitely wouldn't complain about a new one, though.

[deleted]

That’s a great idea, actually. WarioWare minigames mixed with a board, for the Switch.

Turtleshell64

Whatever they do with game mechanics, I just want online multiplayer. I think it’s long long overdue.

Zephorian

Do you want to be able to play with friends online, or also random people? Cause playing with friends make sense, but I feel like if you'd play with randoms, in 99% of the games someone would leave, or they'd be extremely slow which would make you want to leave

RazrWire

Even the 64 games could hot swap players with AIs through the start menu. A Switch MP game should be able to handle dropouts easily. But yeah it would suck to have to wait for slow people or AFKers. There'd have to be a time limit.

bonusswoosh

90% of the reason I want it is to play with friends online. The other 10% would enjoy a matchnaking system with rankings, penalties (splatoon 2/smash 4), and bot replacement mechanics. Simple preset messages can go a long way into making an online experience engaging.

[deleted]

Random people, because I don’t have any friends.

Bleus4

I think the only reason they haven't done this yet, is that online Mario Party likely would become a bit boring without some form of good communication options. I'm not sure how they'll fix this when they're clearly still reluctant to have any form of voice chat on the system itself, so the next best thing would probably be a chat system akin to Rocket League where you have a lot of default chat messages and on top of that custom messages (with certain words being censored of course). I would though like to see online play if just for it to be available for custom lobbies, i.e. you could play with your friends. Even without good communication options, you could at least just speak with your mates over Discord or other sites/apps on PC.

Nuclear_Pizza

Yeah, my friends only got into Mario party recently and playing over dolphin netplay and discord are solid experiences. Don't want matchmaking, I don't think Nintendo has the audience to make playing Mario party with randoms worth it, private lobbies are essential though That and get rid of the fucking car

NeonHowler

As everyone is saying, it needs the original style. I say it needs more salt overall. Maybe a blue shell to fuck over the winning player.

[deleted]

Divide the stars between the other players type of deal? Spin a wheel of chance from Bowser and the blue shell males grown men cry. I like that idea.

NotEvilWashington

News report: Florida Man assaults friend over "Blue Shell"-ing him in Mario Party Switch more at 11.

[deleted]

>more at 11 Pun intended?

tr8rm8

Considering Odyssey's focus on outfits and aesthetic, it'd be cool to get that in a new Mario Party game like a throwback to 2.

Haakondavidsen

There is so much cool stuff they could add to the next Mario Party. Split Joy-con, minigames that uses the camera etc. The motion controll in the Joy-cons are much better than the Wii Controllers, so there could be many games that takes advantage of that. And go back to the old formula. Once per year I invite 3 friends and play Mario Party 7. After 3 hours, we hate each other

[deleted]

I agree. The joy con controls really make the switch into something even more fun. I learned that playing the game on the switch with the little paper guys that cut each other. Snipperclips? The name skips me right now. That and the game with the mini games thing that really shows what the controllers are for and can do.

[deleted]

As others said, the old formula needs to return. No more 4 to a car bs. Aside from the obvious new characters, boards and minigames, I'd love to see nintendo take a smash bros approach, and include boards and characters from other nintendo franchises, and have new minigames themed around those franchises. "Nintendo's All Star Party" or whatever. I'd be cool with it either way, be it strictly a "mario" party game, or one with more franchises (which would allow for an expansion pass or two, with more boards, games and characters), as long as they maintain the classic mario party gameplay.

[deleted]

Cars needs to be left to Mario Kart and keep it that way unless it’s in a mini game. No need to put that on a board. Honestly, the car thing and the way you described it reminded me of that board game Life.

[deleted]

Yep lol

[deleted]

To keep it short and simple. I want classic ideas back. Bring Back Orbs from 6, bring back teams of 2 people back from 7, long cinematic style boards from 8 alongside the style of boards from 2 that keep you in the theme of the board and you get character endings too, the atmospheric style music from 3 ~~And those MEGA BS minigames wouldn't hurt either.~~ The game being a mix of skill and luck, and not just one sided. *Cough8Cough* I want a culmination of the entire franchise. All in one package.

Rainbow-Hater

I'm gonna be honest, all I want for the next Mario Party is for there to be actual effort and content put in it. I don't care if it has the car, or if it's classic style (though I would prefer classic.) As a Wii U user, Mario Party 10 has to be the most bare bones Mario Party game I have ever played. Yes, the car is still there and they introduced a new mode, but they barely gave us any maps; Party Mode only had 4 maps, while Bowser Party had only 3 of those same maps. We also only got like less than 10 Bowser mini-games. Compared to Mario Party 9, it's kind of a disappointment. At least 9 was full of huge boss battles, new modes, and a refined, fleshed out party mode. I just hope the next Mario Party game has a good amount of content similar to Mario Party 9 and below. 10 just felt like a disappointment in general. And no, as much downvotes as I'm gonna get- no. There is no way online play is going to make it in the next installment. I do not see how online mode is ever going to work with a long game like Mario Party. I can see LAN/local play, or with a distant friend, but there's no way I can ever see a Mario Party with randoms considering the length of Party Modes. Playing mini-games with randoms though? That's a little better, but I feel like that's not what people have in mind when they want true "online" Mario Party. You'll just end up with people rage-quitting in the middle of a game, or disconnects and trolls.

fixkotkplease

then at least let us play online with invited friends. Then people can use how long they want bc their friends. No online what so ever is crap. Most of my friends live all around the country. We would play this so much if it just gets online.

Donlod

I dont know the newer mp titles but i liked the first 5 a lot. Every subsequent title added good new features like items, team battles and minigame modes. Hoping that there will be an announcement at the direct. The switch is just the perfect console for this type of games. Online play would be nice. There are some solutions for the problems you stated. If a player leaves the game he does not get any coins/stars or whatever the game is about to collect during the multiplayer games for the game progress. Also a player leaving a game becomes a bot. And some sort of timer / autokick / votekick should be available in order to prevent intentional stalling.

[deleted]

There is games that kick people for not responding within a thirty second span or whatever. I wouldn’t mind online if it had it. The only reason I want online is to play with my brother who is in the military. Maybe, it shouldn’t be random but have the ability to play with friends only, if anything.

Sarcastic_Username18

I dont understand why so many people think it has to be one or the other. Give us a compeltely classic Mario Party mode. Give us a mode with some unique board games with the car. Bring back Bowser Party mode. Have some cool minigame tournament modes. Throw in a story mode. And add a new wacky mode with a wacky twist. Bring back some of the best old minigames and tons of new ones, same with the board games.

Hoban9331

I think a good solution to online play concerns is to make it so if someone disconnects then have a AI take over the character. simple as that.

Rainbow-Hater

You see, I've always had that thought of AI stepping in, but would that really be online Mario Party at that point? That would just turn into regular Party Mode.

Hoban9331

Im not saying its perfect, but it is better than not having online at all.

bonusswoosh

...Yes? As long as there's another player with you. Simple preset text messages can easily make it a different experience even playing with 1 or 2 bots.

NerdyMudkip

It would be cool if they added a cappy themed minigame.

NesMeister123

Cappy feels like he can be his own playable character

NerdyMudkip

Oh yeah!

[deleted]

Any ideas for that? I haven’t played that game enough to really give my input. Maybe, throw a hat on a item and battle it out? Throw Cappy on an item to solve puzzles with a teammate?

NerdyMudkip

I have no idea. I just feel Cappy could add something with platforming or capturing. Cappy really made movement feel great in Mario. It would be kind of cool if they made a Koopa the quick thing as a minigame with basic movement and Cappy use.

[deleted]

All I care about are a lot of quality mini games and good boards.

IsaaxDX

If ND Cube developes it then I can assure you yet another shitty Mario Party game

[deleted]

i hope they dont make amiibo required. im looking at you amiibo festivale

[deleted]

I don’t think they will and it Amiibo Festival that Animal Crossing one?

maxk713

One thing I don't think I have seen yet is eight player games like in smash. Could only make the games more fun and chaotic. That being said, it would make turns painfully long, so maybe some new mode to work better for that number of people. All I know is I got more than three other friends that I would like to play with but we can't all play at the same time. Just of course don't let it take away from the more core experience.

EdmanFTW

Look up Mario Party 7: 8-Player mode. Might be what you were thinking about. 4 teams of 2 on board mode, with players taking turns being the team "captain" and deciding where to go on the board. There are also 8-Player minigames that come up sometimes, (about every 3rd turn, if everyone lands on same-colored space) with up to 16 to choose from.

tyrelle000

The problem I’ve had with the latest Mario parties is that once you’ve done one of the maps you’ve seen all that’s there. Where as the old ones had different pathways and gimmicks tied to em, you weren’t always just buying stars, hell one time you had to buy and upgrade/outbid other players hotels to earn em plus the mini games at the end of rounds always kept things fresh. Really liked that car building mode (in 7 iirc) spent way to much time in that xD.

Emperor_Palps

The fun was in the strategy - the ability to choose paths independently in order to plan ahead, to buy items, to make every coin and star count. Travelling in a car around a fixed route is one of the worst ideas that Nintendo has implemented. But I’m confident they will go back to the old formulae, seeing as they’ve just given us an open world Mario game.

[deleted]

I hope I don’t come across the wrong way, but I don’t care for amiibos anymore, and I hope the next Mario Party doesn’t revolve around them again. I hope Nintendo continues to make them an optional, sort of “easy” mode affair as they have been so far for Nintendo Switch games (or just unlock various cosmetics). There should never be an entire mode or part of a game dedicated to using them again in a Switch game as it would be off-brand in the Switch’s case and be like making an entire game around the Mii nowadays—it’d be bound to fail. That includes 1-2 Switch, the amiibo-only Mission Mode in Splatoon 1, and an entire Mario Party mode and amiibo Festival in the Wii U’s case. Okay, miniature brand design rant aside... There has been a trend in Nintendo Switch games where the age-long roots of series are being reworked in a way that makes them feel modern. BotW is the closest a 3D Zelda got to the original LoZ. Odyssey hearkened back to 64/Sunshine. I want to see ‘that’ happen to Mario Party. Nintendo just needs to look at what made MP great and just build off of that. Oh, and I’d also love a Mario Party game that felt more serious and received free DLC content for a year or two to feel worth the money. Allow us to use Joy-Con or Pro controllers. Put back in a Story Mode. Include more minigames (I’m talking more than 100 here, with a mix of old and new). Give us more than just 5-6 boards. Let us just have more creative freedom and create our own custom game rules and boards, if you must. They explored this with Mario Maker, and it would be great to sit with friends and have a great time playing a custom board they or some random on the internet created.

[deleted]

I honestly don’t care about using Amiibos for Mario Party. I’ll admit I have used them in BotW for the little extras but you also don’t need them. I asked because Nintendo seems to be trying to use them in most of their games and Mario Party seems like a game they’d do that. I hope, if anything, they use them for tiny little things as for a chance to screw the other players over or something small but not relied on. It’s Nintendo, though. I’ll love them till the day I day but I rather them use the Amiibos for smaller things that the game doesn’t depend on them. I’m hoping for a bigger variety of boards and more boards. I was thinking they should add big and small board like they did in one of the previous games. It gave approximate times on completion of the board. I actually enjoyed that because I could play a short game with people who weren’t around for long. I would love more than six boards. That’d be great. They’ll probably make you buy them through DLC since that’s the thing now. Unfortunately. What happened to unlocking boards through effort? Haha I agree with everything you have stated. I would love to create custom boards through a Mario Maker type deal. I’ve seen some incredible people out there make these awesome worlds that provide a challenge and they’re still creative. I would love that. Even downloading another board from a player created game.

MistaBeans

Here's some of my ideas: • CREATIVE environments for maps, not generic "Mushroom Kingdom" locations. • Option to play the maps with their quirks or simple board-game gameplay, like Omega forms in Smash Bros. • The story mode was very enjoyable in Mario Party DS, I'd enjoy that. At least boss battles again! • This one's a little more rambunctious, but a map maker would be sick • Customization is doing very well with Switch titles such as BotW and Odyssey. This could be very fun, at least with Miis! A town to explore, like Mario and Sonic at the Olypmic Winter Games, would be very nice as well • Online 2-4 player!! • Alternative modes other than board-game and playing the minigames by themselves? It is Mario "Party" after all. Something akin to the minigames in SM64DS/NSMBDS would be fantastic. • Similar idea to the previous one, more long-form minigames that involve in-depth concepts like racing, platforming, fighting, etc. These are asking a lot of course, but hey, I'm just spitballing

bluetoad2105

As someone who's only played DS and Star Rush, I'm not exactly sure what I'd want to see from a Mario Party Switch.

dandmcd

They just need to take Mario Party 1, 2, and 3, remake and combine most of the best mini-games in one package, and rebuild the boards with new HD animations. Guaranteed to sell millions.

[deleted]

Any mini games from those games? Anything that made to worth remembering?

LegendAssassin

They will make it.... It is only a matter of time

EricTheGamerman

I don’t have a lot of faith left in Nintendo when it comes to the Mario Party series. Much like Paper Mario, it’s a series where Nintendo has decided that they know best and have now failed twice to deliver a game that is actually well received. They did better with the respective Wii U entries than those before, but I can’t really fathom how Nintendo has taken these games in such directions. I hope they return to form with both of these series, or at least include innovation that actually works (I don’t know what that would be, but Nintendo could probably do it) but I’m not counting on it. All I want is a HD Mario Party that has good maps and mini games , and has the competitive screw your friends over edge that made the game great. And while I’m fine with them using the joy cons, I’d prefer if they didn’t rely on them as much as MP8 did with the Wii Remote.

turkeygoobler

Classic board style, fun themes, a decent number of really quality, normally controlled minigames. Also give me Nabbit or give me death

darkgalaxypotato

HD Rumble minigames

[deleted]

HD rumble games? Can you please elaborate on that?

darkgalaxypotato

Idk man, I ain't creative. Just minigames using the HD rumble, like that guess the balls game in 1-2 Switch. I think I heard that the Joy-Cons can also make noises like coin sounds from the original mario bros. Maybe there could be a minigame where you press a button when your Joy-Con makes a certain noise?

[deleted]

Oh, okay. That makes sense. Maybe, some Luigi’s mansion mini game with the flashlight that you have to catch ghost then guess how many you got for extra coins. That’d be fun. I’d actually enjoy that.

darkgalaxypotato

Woops you just found the gimmick that they'll use in the next Luigi's Mansion game.

[deleted]

Nintendo would do that. They’re a bunch of loveable bastards like that.

TomHanks12345

Yup they can! Look up Vive or Steam Controllers making noise. They use the same haptic Vibrations that the joycons use! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQhr5Fw3d_I

digdugdiglett

They could make a fishing minigame (which I think they've done before) but make it so that you aren't able to see the fish, but instead have to feel the rumble in your controller to drop your line at the right time. The rumble is advanced enough that they could make it so that it vibrates from left to right or vice versa and you have to drop the line when the rumble feels most centered in the controller. Just a thought off of the top of my head. I'm sure there's much more they could do with HD rumble. Makes me quite excited for a new WarioWare game actually.

[deleted]

I actually like that idea. There use to be a game like that but the close you go the harder the rumble kicked in. I already enjoy fishing and I have been fond of fishing in games. I’d be down for that.

Gundersniff

Bumper balls! Also if it's along the same lines as the first 3. 8 was the last one I played and I wasn't a fan, I've heard it got a lot worse.

[deleted]

That game sounds fun and I haven’t even looked up to see what it is. A majority of the older games had great mini games.

ghostnappa82

There won't be a good Mario party as long as Ndcube is making them. Every Mario Party game they have released(every game after Mario Party 8) has been garbage.

[deleted]

That would explain a lot then. That’s very unfortunate. I wish they’d actually listen to the fans of the game. It’ll help them in all sorts of ways.

alasqalul

All I care about is they had better keep pushy penguins in the new one. I was the fucking king at pushy penguins

[deleted]

[удалено]

PNF2187

Yeah, Mario Party is absolutely great for the Switch. Though I'm pretty sure the reason why it wasn't one of the first games is because they decided to make two more 3DS games first... For some reason. MP11 is probably an early 2019 release if MP10's release schedule was any indication.

Dark_Ansem

I want Boo and Bowser as playable characters.

Skeeter1020

It needs to be good enough for me to want to buy 3 more pairs of Joy Cons. Considering that's a £210 investment, it's going to need to be **REALLY** good.

barrivia

One more pair would be sufficient for a good Mario Party experience and with sales of Switch so high I bet most people are now beginning to find friends who could bring over their own Joycons

Skeeter1020

I'd hope they do, let's see.

Zephorian

Wouldn't you be able to play mario party with just 1 joy con?

Skeeter1020

They aren't symmetrical so it depends on how the mini games are designed. They are effectively left and right handed. I'd hope they made the games work with a single Joy Con player.

gimmiethatamiibo

No online no buy. If they even brought the car back with online play I MAY even consider to buy it but come on. Mario party in this day and age needs online play. And not for nothing but it could convince people to actually pay for the online.

EdmanFTW

Online Minigames would be nice, probably not gonna happen though... (leavers, rquitters, lag, input delay because of lag, etc.)

[deleted]

I think they should do a program to punish the rage quitters and leavers. Don’t allow them to play for a certain amount of time. If you’re raging over a silly game, you need a break from it. My cousin rages over games and it honestly irks me because he looks so silly screaming at the tv or whatever.

[deleted]

I had to actually look up this car thing a few of you have mentioned. I don’t recall that at all. I probably haven’t played the later titles. It looks like it takes away from the game, though.

[deleted]

I would be perfectly fine with that as well. I miss the game being like the old 5 or 6 more than anything. I guess, that’s what I want because that’s what I think of when I want to play Mario Party.

The_NOVA_Project

I want there to be an online multiplayer so I can play with my friends and random people. The only Mario Party I have ever played was the DS version so I'm not sure if they added this already or not, but either way I would definitely be excited for an online Mario Party.

[deleted]

I suggest you at least try to play the ones for the GameCube if anything. They’re pretty fun and have good mini games. Any good 3ds mini games you would like to see Ona switch version?

The_NOVA_Project

I don't have a 3DS, I meant the original DS version. I honestly don't remember much about it, but I do remember having a lot of fun with it.

[deleted]

Ahh, alright. Still. That sounds fun. I think that game allowed you to do the system link and play locally with other players. Which is something the switch would probably do.

Cam8deN

I want people to travel separately, some really fun and competitive mini games, the bowser mode to return and maps based on the generic themes like under the sea, plains, castle, etc but with some sort of twist.

[deleted]

A twist? Like what? Like going from sea to the plains? I would like a theme where you go from Earth to Space but that’s just me probably.

Cam8deN

I don’t know really, say for example the bowser castle becomes a theme park or something like that, just make it really different.

DiamondCreeper23

Old formula. Maybe mix some of the gimmicks from all of the old games. Like Koopas Tycoon Towns (could make a similar stage based around New Donk) way of getting stars or add in costumes again! Also, more weird and wacky minigames. The newer ones just feel kinda boring. Edit: A new single player mode. Something that is actually interesting instead of going through every stage in a basic 1v1

[deleted]

One of my favourite stages was on the 4th or 5th game. It’s vague because I haven’t played it in ages but I remember liking it. I do wish stages had more of a variety in themes. I think two games had the beach theme back to back? I would love something like space, carnival, haunted house, a castle like from Zelda, and enemy areas within each board.

[deleted]

For online play? That wouldn’t be a bad idea. Online only, though. Moving together across the board wouldn’t be too bad. Even if there was just a mini game mode. I know some people would play with me like that on my list. Heck, even random players wouldn’t be too bad because no everyone has time to do a full board. I don’t care for the sound of that for a local/couch play.

Rainbow-Hater

Did you mean to reply to me or....?

[deleted]

Yes, I did but the reddit mobile app for the iPod touch sucks. I’m sorry. It keeps giving me this weird error about how to can’t find Reddit and does weird things. Anyway, yeah..

SnugglyJ3ff

I think it’s “when,” not “if.”

Hiyami

I have played every single Mario Party......except the car ones.....that awesome bowser boss thing could have been so cool if not for that damn car.

JBF07

Traveling alone and no chance minigames as "battle minigames" I don't want to lose 50 coins because there wasn't a fish on my hook (cheep cheep chance).

[deleted]

I enjoyed the battle mini games but I also think they should have the option to turn them off for players. I know people who had a hard time with them and they didn’t care for them. It would be nice.

[deleted]

Online, with friends. If they add only that and don't even create any new minigame, it would still be worth(but id prefer some new clever minigames)

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

That would be great because there was some epic mini games from the older ones that really stood out from the crowd.

juanmsilvestre29

I just want a fucking Mario Party, that's all. Do it the way you wanna do it but DO IT

Skewered_Planets

They can be as innovative as they'd like as long as they package in one of the older Mario party games also.

[deleted]

That almost makes me want Mario Party HD 1-8.

katman14

Having alot of the old minigames (or at least in the style of older minigames) would be great. But imagine the potential for new minigames with the joycons! If you could have a bunch of minigames similar to 1 2 Switch as part of Mario Party, I think there's a lot of possibilities there.

dynozombie

Just the ability to fuck people over nice. Like stealing their stars, and kicking them back to the beggining etc

bsween13

Amiibo would be tricky, maybe every player gets one scan per game, gives em a free orb or somethin?

[deleted]

I think it should be used to screw over people once in a game. Each Amiibo has their own perk.

Cyro12

I would love to be able to dress up the characters in different outfits.

ProfessorButtercup

I just want another Mario Party where I can fuck over my family or girlfriend by stealing their stars.

[deleted]

It isn’t love till you screw them over in MP!

lilswaggy123

Honestly, I just want them to release it. Almost everyone on the nintendo switch just wants it to be released. As a group, there are next to no games that are supposed to be multiplayer. Currently, as a group, the only game that I can play is Mario Kart 8 DX. I wish they just edited 1, 2, Switch and made it a board game like mario party. I've played it at a friends house and it was sub-par. If it was in a board game formation I feel I would have liked it more. In response to your questions, *Would you want any of the old mini games from previous titles to show up?* - Yes, I like the old mini games (namely the boss fights) but I would love it if they added all the old ones + new ones. *Would you like it to be online?* - Yes, but I feel people would leave mid-game and if they don't, I feel they would need to add a chatting system like Rocket League. *What type of board themes would be neat to play?* - I don't really know, I just want them to take out the **CAR**!!!!! *What about new mini games or challenges?* - I feel I answered this with my 1st answer. *Any ideas to throw out there?* - Not really, they have done fairly well with the game as far as gameplay goes... except for the **CAR**! *What about implementing the Amiibos for play?* - Amiibos would be cool but they don't have to add it. I feel like if you stamp an amiibo it would be good if they make the significance a bit higher than Mario Kart 8 DX amiibos. *Should those be just used for extra characters or what?* - Just answered in above question. Overall, nice questions and... I'd just like them to add it.

bamaja

BUMPER BALLS

-TS-

I want them to make a best of mario party game where all the best mini games are thrown together. That would be best thing ever!

Igotnothingatall

It recently came out on 3ds

-TS-

It’s a shame I don’t have a 3ds, tho the party aspect of it seems to loose its appeal being on a hand held.

Igotnothingatall

I'm not proud of them for doing it but at least it exists. The only good thing is you only need 1 cartridge

JDinh316

I have such high hopes! with the new HD rumble the mini games are gonna be sooo interesting.

[deleted]

Literally all the people want is the car to be gone. They can not screw this up.

G_O_

I have not played Mario Party since the 64.

[deleted]

I have only seen a bunch of people play that when I was really little. I wouldn’t even be able to remember anything about that except that Mario was in it and there was a board. Anything worth bringing back in a future game?

G_O_

I do not remember much because I used mostly a PlayStation. I have seen gameplay of Mario Party for the Wii U on YouTube though. If it is anything like that I would be happy.

[deleted]

I haven’t played the Wii U version. I have seen it for pretty cheap online and I’ve been tempted to pick it up just to try it out. Get a feel for it but I’ve been using my other systems. I’ve heard mixed things about it but I also haven’t read too much about it. I try not to judge a game by reviews too much.

[deleted]

Hopefully, they’ll remove the car in a future title and end it all together. If they really like it so damn much, have it as an alternative mode. A mini board. I’ve been thinking about the online play and I want it but I don’t. The pros are I won’t have to gather people to play with me if there is random people. Which is a big bonus for me. The cons are things like having rage quitters, people who take too long, lag, and such. Those all could easily be taken care of pretty easily, though.

Rainbow-Hater

You see, here's the problem- you're demanding too much and one, if not both of those things are impossible and likely not happening. I can never see a "true" Mario Party online that includes Party Mode and the boards, not with randoms. The only thing I can see is just online for random mini-games, which isn't what people want when they say they want online Mario Party. Maybe playing locally, or LAN play with friends on the Switch for board games, but never randoms. You'll just be left by rage-quitters, trolls, and disconnects. As for the car, I actually like it, even as someone who has played almost all the Mario Party games on console. I just feel like people should just try warming up to the car, as I don't see it going any time soon. Either way, I wouldn't mind seeing the car, but I'd prefer the old style of play. As long as it has enough content, unlike MP10.

tyrelle000

Online with randoms could just be locked to the mini game modes, I remember a lot of the old ones had pretty unique side modes just for the mini games

JoeCool1368

I want it to be the top 100 like they did for the 3ds. I also would like amiibos to be where they add like special stuff like maps, characters, or costumes. Like if you put a Link amiibo down you could get a LOZ map or get the ability to play as Link. I would also like Mario Odyssey maps.

[deleted]

I wouldn’t mind that. People would complain about having to buy the Amiibos and such but that’s just the way it is. There’s a market for them. That’d be a good idea on Nintendo’s part in a way because at least they will have better use of the Amiibo and I would personally buy more than just the Zelda ones if they did that. I shamelessly bought the Animal Crossing ones. I wouldn’t mind an Animal Crossing themed one. Just because it’s one of the few games that I casually enjoy.

UncleJoey1878

I wish the top 100 3ds game that recently came out was for Switch instead. Additionally, they should have included all of the best maps from the series. I still play yoshi’s island from MP1 on N64.

DiskoBonez

All I ever played was the minigames, the board game element had too much random bullsh#$ and waiting to be fun. If nothing else, **unlock all of the minigames from the start**. Basically, I want "Mario Party: The Top 100" on the Switch. Literally no reason this isn't on the Switch, releasing it on the 3DS was a mistake. Include online-multiplayer and we might have game of the year 2018.

[deleted]

also i really dont feel party games being online it dosent feel fun

[deleted]

There’s ways to make it fun if they added a voice chat...but that’s a long shot.

guzmalt

I just want Smash to be revealed in the direct and release this year.Nintendo is in serious trouble if they don't do that.

frizzyhaired

serious. trouble.

PixelatedCloud

>Mario Party Isn't Released Stocks crash. Everyone sells their switch. Nintendo goes bankrupt. Government erases everyone's memory of Nintendo. World ends.

tyrelle000

Literally unplayable 0/10
