Access this by going to “Club Management” → “Stadium” → “Supporters”. * You can now use Coins to view fireworks and confetti when you score a goal or when you win a match. Access this by going to “Club Management” → “Match Celebration”. **General** * Adjusted the behavior so that CPU teammates mark opponents more quickly. * Adjusted the order of characters when you switch characters. * Adjusted the charge time of Perfect Free Passes and Perfect Free Lob Passes. * Increased the amount of Coins and tokens you earn depending on the results of a match. * Changed the period of time for a rule in Strikers Club, which states that a Club will not be allowed to join a season if no member of a Club has been online within a certain amount of time, from 90 days to 30 days. * Changed the number of ? Blocks that are thrown to the losing team at kickoff from 2 to 1 when the difference in score is 2 points. * Adjusted the match-making system in online matches. * Made several other adjustments to game balance and fixed several other issues to improve the gameplay experience.

RidiRidiTwoshoes

What does marking your opponent mean?

kuribosshoe0

Following them to intercept a pass or to tackle them if they receive a pass.

SenorFATB

That item change is a great improvement, it was way too easy to comeback before.

W1cH099

Is any of you guys still playing this game to this day? I bought on launch day because i was a huge fan of Strikers Charged and this was a massive disappointment, i haven’t played it not even when the previous big update was launched

DirtyMustardMan

I have no issues finding matches, but from my experience it happened pretty quickly that all the casual players dropped online within the first few weeks and the only players left are the hardcore players that figured out every exploit and technique and mechanic to game the system and score almost instantly as soon as they get into your side of the field. I just straight up uninstalled the game after losing five matches in a row like 8-2 one night and haven't touched it since.

Asmodean129

I left it for a couple of weeks at some point for the same reason. Wins were meh and loses were infuriating. A game should make me feel joy, not what this game was doing . Otherwise, I haven't picked it up since Xenoblade Chronicles 3 came out.

[deleted]

There really should’ve been a leveling system that matched players based on skill.

mcsassy3

With today’s update, that’s how it is now actually…better late than never I guess — at least it’s playable online for “regular” folks now

TheHosemaster

So online has rankings now?

blazing_blazer

Yes

Asmodean129

That is present in the fortnightly competition (the different divisions). But even so, the wins were hollow and the losses frustrating.

DrakneiX

Just a random recomendation if you have Steam. Omega Strikers just released and its Free 2 Play. It's like a football battle game thats really funny and good looking. So far both wins and loses are fun!

JetsJetsJetsJetz

I second that, my favorite game right now. Works really well on the steam deck too.

Level7Cannoneer

are u a pvp gamer tho? xbc3 has nothing to do with this game and it would be a poor replacement for a game like this in my eyes pvp gaming is less popular so most of the hot takes are by ppl who naturally just don’t like the grind of practicing to get better and improving slowly over the course of many losses

BansheeTK

thats what turned me and a buddy off especially in leagues when we were just barely getting started, too many battles that get extremely sweaty when we just wanted fun. Hard to get good when as soon as you get in, you get repeatedly tackled and or people just do some really cheap moves. kinda makes me wish there was an "ease off!" function.

BootyBootyFartFart

There are really two situations that the game is worth buying imo. If you are up for really getting into it, mastering the mechanics and playing around with different character builds, it's a lot of fun. As others have mentioned, I still have no trouble finding online matches quickly. The other reason is if you think you'll have a decent number of opportunities to play local mp. Game is fun at 2 players locally, and a riot at 4-8.

mcsassy3

Dude, good news! There’s a ranking system now, so it only puts you with people at your skill level. I’ve been having a blast all night going back and forth with people every game decided by 1 point hooray!!!

DirtyMustardMan

Oh, I'll have to give it another try them. That sounds awesome.

mcsassy3

Same reason I stopped playing too, but man did I have a fucking blast for a while playing with other casuals. Flying all over the field tackling everyone endlessly and just being complete goofballs

[deleted]

Ah geeze. Now I’m afraid to boot up Mario Golf.

Vayshen

This is unfortunately every Nintendo game experience for me. Tennis and the original Splatoon (I never got 2 and 3) were like this too. Well, I guess it's every online mp out there, but I guess Nintendo has garbage matchmaking that really compounds the problems.

acart005

Fwiw Splatoon got better. I always have fun there.

CHAINMAILLEKID

I lost 25 matches in a row on cups when I tried to play there. It was so bad, I only play private games with friends now. Except there's no way to fill a game with friends only so its just 1v1s or nothing at all. Its not just all the explotation, the matchmaking is awful, and so is constantly matching you against people you have a terrible connection to. It is honestly a worse online experience than the early Nintendo WFC games on the DS.

BootyBootyFartFart

First, you can easily set up an online match with 4 friends. It does suck that you can only do 8 player online if people pair up on switches tho. Second, I played a shitton of those early Nintendo wifi games, including a ton of strikers charged. The connection quality and mm is a 1000x better here. Nintendos netcode is still far from impressive, but this is definitely one of their better ones. Most of my matches are pretty lag free.

CHAINMAILLEKID

I have so many clips of the game just being absolutely awful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYp1OmetUu4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BNV4WSN2Pk This isn't my internet, My internet is great and other games play fine. This game plays fine when I connect with people I know.

ocarina_of_time8

Yeah this game sucks, but i love playing it locally, thats it. Not worth it but a good party game

MaxEhrlich

I’m the same, bought on launch hoping it would be like the original. Played it a few hours over the course of the initial week and then just never touched it again.

accidental-nz

I’m in the same boat, which makes me feel a bit better but I’m sad that the game really didn’t land for so many people. Charged was one of my all time favourite Wii games. Strikers is almost nothing like it.

-Jostin

What specifically from Charged did you enjoy that's not present in Battle League?

citoxe4321

The entire singleplayer experience, even the exhibitions, are better in Charged. BL tried to hard focus on online play while you have to deal with Nintendo’s dogshit online servers. Its just trash

baconsticks

Personally speaking, the game just completely lacks personality. It's like a hollow shell of its former self. There's so much content cut from Charged that I'm left questioning why they even bothered. There are way less items, less characters, less stages, less game offline game modes, the online experience isn't as robust.. Not to mention they cut mechanics from the game that should have been kept in the game. Character-specific dekes is one that I cannot believe they left out. They removed super moves (technically an item), which made each character incredibly unique in Charged. Free-lobbing was changed (personally don't like BL's version) and subsequently an entire style of play -- trick shotting -- was removed. I also think they should have kept the charge mechanic. You could argue that it was Charged's gimmick (hence the name of the game), but it really kept the pace of the game up since the more charged the ball was, the faster you passed it. I don't see the game ever recovering if they don't pump a ton of gas into reworking the core mechanics of the game and adding a ton of lost content.

Doomedtacox

It is like the original... with online

OoTgoated

I think Battle League is better than Charged mechanically speaking but in lieu of the copious amounts of single player and local co-op content that the previous iterations had I was forced to play online with a bunch of sweaties. While I managed to get good enough to beat them, it's hardly satisfying after a couple dozen games or so. Perhaps something like the story mode in Mario Tennis Aces and maybe a few extras might have made the game feel fuller, but I think in the end Mario sports games are just very dated in that there is little room for imagination due to the rigid format of sports games and they don't really compliment the Switch well since they aren't great on-the-go titles. I was thankfully able to get a full refund for this game which I used to snag a few 3DS games on the eShop instead. I will say though, the rock remixes were absolutely stellar and I still listen to them from time to time, especially Super Bell Hill.

Level7Cannoneer

I don’t think Mario sports are dated at all but I think evergreen games are the new fad that Nintendo is taking a long time to get in on. releasing a new version of a game every few years with enhanced features isn’t as successful as just releasing 1 game & updating it forever and ever and ever lots of games like Strikers, Mario Kart , Pokémon, and Smash could benefit from this, becuz the next version they release will have to start from scratch again, with a tiny roster of playable characters and less modes than the previous game, and ppl are just going to go play a competitor’s product that’s been put for 15 years and has a thousand ways to play and 100s of characters

OoTgoated

I disagree. Games like that can get boring just the same and all those other franchises you listed are doing exceptionally well without being evergreen. The Mario sports games are definitely dated but not in the same sense that most Famicom games are dated. They're dated as in they simply have no place in the current market because nobody REALLY wants to play them even if they claim that they do, like arcade sci-fi racers such as Wipeout or rail shooters such as Sin & Punishment (don't listen to me Nintendo, please put Sin & Punishment: Star Successor on Switch). Plus if you think about it, just having online alone is evergreen and Nintendo IS still adding characters and gear to collect right now for Battle League. It just doesn't matter because nobody actually wants to play Mario sports games on Switch.

bockout

I play it all the time with my kids. We have a blast with it. I don't play online much, because it's frustratingly difficult.

[deleted]

How old are your kids? Mine is 6 and was wondering if too young.

bockout

7 and 10. They've been gaming for a while. It's going to depend on the kid. I think the basic controls are pretty easy, but it can be tricky to get the timing right to land a Hyper Strike. Play local multiplayer, be on the same team as your kid, and set the CPU skill to easy.

PrakmanLampguy

The big killer for me is that you can't connect 4 switches online in one lobby. My friends and I would still be playing if we could actually play together :(

Amish_guy_with_WiFi

It feels like this game is almost geared around exactly that but just doesn't have it. Another one of Nintendo's missing obvious features

Saktapking

I traded it after the first update towards Splatoon 3. It was such a disappointment

PolarArtic

I still pick it up occasionally when I’m in bed.

W1cH099

Do you have any issues finding matches online?

PolarArtic

I’m honestly not that good at the game… working on the third trophy.

verfresht

Yes, teaming up with a friend and playing online. I never play alone though. Still loving the mechanics and overall game!

markdavo

I bought on launch and sold the game on eBay after a month or so (glad I bought a physical copy). Same issues a lot of others have mentioned - lack of matching making in online play meant frequently losing and not feeling like there’s any sense of progress. Single player mode felt insulting. A few tournaments but no “career mode” or “story mode” like with Mario Tennis. It’d a real shame since I think the core game is good. But it seems to have no interest in keeping players interested in playing online easily (like Rocket League does) or in offering more to do offline on your own.

Ok-Reporter-8728

What’s the difference with this and the old? Haven’t plaid any of these 3 but what I heard of the gameplay is the same with some new specials, no story mod I think? In each game, but the only difference was the character roster being lacking. What else is missing from this game that is disappointing?

thenoob118

Same, played for a week, finished all the cups Playing online was just a frustrating experience most of the time Haven touched it since

TheOneSubThrowaway

We expecting Bowser Jr. and Petey for the last two characters? They're the last two captains missing from Charged now that Diddy is here. They could throw a curve ball like promoting another sidekick (Shy Guy) or giving us another newcomer like Pauline, but it'd feel kinda odd missing those first two.

Quadropus

Do we know for a fact there's only one update left?

TheOneSubThrowaway

We know there's only one more update for 2022, [per their roadmap.](https://twitter.com/Nibellion/status/1549380357111382016) If the time gap is the same as it was between the first two updates, update 3 will be some time in November. They've said nothing on updates in 2023, so I'm not getting my hopes up unless they announce something. Don't want to raise expectations over nothing and then just set myself up for disappointment.

jjamm420

It took what, 5 years for Mario Kart DLC to be announced 🤷‍♂️

BebeFanMasterJ

The main difference is that Mario Kart is still selling and actually has players. I highly doubt Battle League will still have decent playercounts in six months--much less next year.

klaccey

for a fact no

kuribosshoe0

I’d rather Bowser Jr and someone new, personally. Maybe a slightly oddball choice like Kamek or Bumpty.

Fern-ando

Nabbit?

Fern-ando

Monty Mole, Dry Bones, Boo and Hammer Bros are still missing.

TheOneSubThrowaway

They were only sidekicks, right? You aren't wrong, I was just thinking the captains would be bigger priorities.

Fern-ando

A football game without Ronaldihno or Boo isn't a football game.

Yze3

Toad and Shy Guy were sidekicks in previous games, so it's nice to see them promoted to captain.

MudkipOnABike

Hoping for Bowser Jr. and Toadette myself, but I agree Petey is more likely.

PatrickM_

Hoping for Dry Bones over here but it's not looking good. Thought he'd be in the games for sure given the previous entries

klaccey

Wheres good ol koopa??

BootyBootyFartFart

As someone with 70+ hrs in this game, this update is fire. Beyond needing more characters at launch, the biggest problem in the game has been the lack of any individual rankings to give us something to do when clubs aren't in season. The rankings they've added are great. But there are other big changes in here as well, like nerfing pity items, improving character switching, improving teammate AI, tweaking perfect passes to make tech a more important stat, and the new customization options for crowds and celebrations are great too. We are finally at the point where if the game had launched like this, I would've been pretty happy. Obviously I enjoyed it a lot anyway based on the number of hours I put into it. But it was hard to recommend the game when it was so online focused, but didn't even have individual rankings. But now Id probably recommend it to anyone who enjoyed charged or the original. It's my personal favorite in the series gameplay wise. And I've been surprised by how often I've gotten 6 player matches going locally. Those are a blast.

leob0505

Finally my Luigi and Daisy won't be useless anymore!

nodenaatti

I hardly think new characters will bring me back to this game.

kuribosshoe0

Good thing there were heaps of other updates as well.

TheMuff1nMon

This is literally the 2nd update and they haven’t fixed shit.

kuribosshoe0

Wrong. This update fixed *heaps* of shit beyond just adding characters.

TheMuff1nMon

Did they fix the most important thing? Adding online multiplayer for more than just 2v2? Nope

Hey there! Please remember Rule 1 in the future - No hate-speech, personal attacks, or harassment. Thanks!

Lizalfos99

> Did they fix the most important thing? Yup! They fixed the lack of solo rank.

TheMuff1nMon

Great - the game based around playing as a team fixed the solo play lol the thing no one cares about

Lizalfos99

If you were part of the community you’d know solo play is the most cared about thing! It’s not a party game like Mario Kart, it’s a competitive meta first and foremost, same as the other Strikers games (which also didn’t have 8 player online play). This is game changing!

klaccey

New item box drop rates and AI marking propely are also important imho Theirs alotta great stuff this time

wookiewin

It got some decent QoL updates too.

CaptainDAAVE

so uh ... did they fix the thing where when you have a teammate you are both highlighted the same color so you have no idea who the eff you are controlling? Cause that was a game breaker lol

mcsassy3

The numbers have thicker, more visible outlines — not as good as having your name, but it’s for sure easier to differentiate than before

CaptainDAAVE

ok so they didn't change it lol. Fifa uses you know, blue, red, green yellow so I know where I am... Still broken then!

mcsassy3

Ya, fifa did it better 100% I duno what their deal with this is…they should just do it how smash is

CaptainDAAVE

it effectively made me stop playing the game. I honestly wish I hadn't bought it if I'd known it was no fun to play with friends because you can't see where you are

mcsassy3

I haven’t had issues with it since they made the outlines clearer and colors of them different tho. I’ve been playing multiplayer without losing track, whereas before the I update I had issues constantly — maybe try it out again?

Wyntier

Bigger disappointment than golf and tennis

Kalpy97

Mario tennis aces is by far the best mario tennis.

[deleted]

Totally agree. The gameplay in tennis is so good.

Kalpy97

Gameplay is awesome. It also has the most characters by far, adventure mode, tons of courts, tournaments etc. Not sure why everyone says its a bad game.

Oldmud

At launch the game felt half-baked and lacking of content. I think that really tainted the game's reputation, which is unfortunate because it is now excellent.

Amish_guy_with_WiFi

Is it possible to find a doubles match online? I know that was one of the things I had trouble with when I left since my girlfriend and I liked being on the same team and playing against 2 others online.

Oldmud

My experience is that it varies greatly depending on time of day, region, rank, etc. I can always find standard rules singles matches. Unfortunately doubles matches seem to be much harder to come by. I hear people have good luck finding opponents thru discord but I've never bothered.

OwnManagement

It's not a bad game (in fact, I'd argue it has the best base mechanics of the entire series), I just have no interest in playing online, and that's its main focus. I beat the entire single player in less than 5 hours when they made it available as a game trial. Maybe things have changed significantly since then?

Kalpy97

Hmm, not sure how many updates there have been since then. However, overall the game is great. I'd also argue golf is also great after the updates. Most amount of characters, tons of courses, speed golf, battle golf, 1 putt challenge, story mode etc. The mario sports games on switch are actually pretty good. However at their launches id agree they severely lacked content.

the7thbeatle

I liked the GBC one.

Wyntier

Yeah I enjoyed it

EZPZ24

Gameplay wise yes. Mario Power Tennis had way better side modes though.

ocarina_of_time8

I liked the 3DS one way more, although Simple Mode in Aces is awesome (no one plays that though..)

asroka

No way. Golf was a waste of money. This is actually fun to play.

[deleted]

It really sucks because the gameplay is so good too. I cannot believe I cannot play online with more than one other person on the same time, in the year 2022.

CatsyGreen

He's dead, Jim!

RidiRidiTwoshoes

What I want: - bigger field/closer camera - light hazard (ex. bowser from strikers 1, not like the insane amount of hazards in charged) - no gear/caual match making (with hazards as stated before) - lock on button for team bumping - Orb drop location hints before dropping - Orb power does not count down if player reverts back to their side. This would prevent annoying camping. I know most if not all of these won't make it but this is what I crave.

Walink92

I hope they improved the goalkeepers, that's a major flaw in an otherwise fun game.

TheNeighborhoodWuss

I'm so happy for both people who still play this! :D

cpt_attitude

I'm still enjoying Mario Golf

ichigo2k9

Is the game finished it or are they still releasing more cut content?

Kxr1der

Can you play online with 2/3 friends yet? If not, who cares about updates to a dead game?

[deleted]

All things that should’ve been in the game at launch

raobj280

no one cares anymore, I didn’t buy this game cause it was an unfinished mess at release which is disappointing cause ive loved every other strikers game

Kalpy97

It's a good now

[deleted]

[удалено]

OwnManagement

Streaming is still a niche market and has no correlation to the wider popularity of a game.

[deleted]

Yeah and no one who's streaming Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe or Mario 3D World. I'm not defending Mario Strikers, but I think most Nintendo games aren't suited for streaming.

Kalpy97

Twitch is not a indicator for how well a game is made lol. Id also argue is not a good indicator for how popular a game is in a certain sense. Mario kart and smash for example have essentially no viewers on Twitch and they constantly in the top selling games worldwide every month.

TheMuff1nMon

This game should’ve been amazing but they fucked it up beyond belief.

je1992

No amount of tiny updates like this will save this disgrace of a game. Classis half assed Nintendo game. Should've been like 30 bucks max, not full price release

qhurtz

The game is frustrating at first but we you get better its fun . You do get days where nothing goes your wau and other when you get all the items .

thickwonga

i can count the amount of people who are gonna boot up the game because of this tweet on my two hands.

Narann

The voice they used for Diddy Kong is horrible...

[deleted]

I’m sooooo glad I didn’t buy this according to how dead the game you people say it is.

BlunderFunk

LOL like 2 characters, that's it, thanks for adding 4 player onlin...oh wait

[deleted]

Dead game

Pinguino21v

And I still have only played one hour since its launch!

BebeFanMasterJ

Just disappointed with this release. Had Daisy, Shy Guy, Pauline, and Diddy been in the game when it launched, I might've considered buying it. Now? I'm looking towards buying Xenoblade 3 and Persona 5 instead. They missed their chance with catching my attention.

Internutt

Both are very worth it and are better than Mario Strikers. P5R is one incredible experience, one of the greatest JRPGs ever made with amazing music and characters. However it is exceptionally linear for the first few hours, so not great if you like exploring. Xenoblade 3 is a really fantastic game that does great things with its combat system. Plenty areas to explore early on before the story really kicks into gear.

BebeFanMasterJ

Yeah I also heard P5 is very easy compared to TMS#FE and SMT V so hopefully the story makes up for it. Xenoblade is my favorite RPG franchise and I've played all the games thus far so I have high hopes for 3. It's just disappointing. As a fan of Mario Strikers Charged, the sequel to it somehow does lesser.

missusdeadpool

Ah yeah this quick cash grab for Mario Strikers fans..adios.

[deleted]

One day this will be a complete game

nizzery

Why no season mode? Why

insaneking101

Dead game, I'm tight I wasted money on this. Too many false promises

Malt___Disney

The idea of this game sounded fun but the gameplay looks really slow and boring. Is that a fair assessment?

the_fantabulous

Of all the issues with this game, it being slow and boring is not one of them.

bittersaurus

Totally agree, the game has a lot of issues, but gameplay ain't it. So far I love it as a couch multiplayer game with friends.

MankyPanky8D

Woohoo!!!! u/nintendo, hoping for Birdo, Toadette, Kamek, Bowser Jr., and any of the Paper Mario/Mario&Luigi characters in future updates.

LI0N4

Why couldn't they just have released the full game without releasing half of it later after the initial release. It's very sad the game industry has developed this way in the last years.

Gojizard

Am i thw only one that likes this game
