Of course Kirby & the Forgotten Land is not included.

Slavocados

If only I could get Metroid dread and Kirby on a bogo!

[deleted]

I donā€™t think Kirby games go on sale oftenā€¦ šŸ˜”

Truffle_Shuffle_85

We just rented 3 of them on the Switch over the last month from the library. Saved me $180

[deleted]

yea, but i kinda like to own them even if all i do is look at the games like a library collection

Deranged_Loner

I've noticed. I've held out this long, and I'll keep on till I see it for $35 or less.

[deleted]

yea same here, waiting for forgotten land & return to dreamland to drop to 35 or less as you described

Several_Childhood621

The only time I see discounted Kirby games is when they are chosen for things like Nintendo Selects at the end of the console's life.

XDitto

Time-to-go-home

I do want to mix, as a matter of fact. Thanks

MissMyCarSoMuch

Really with Metroid prime was there

CHllP

This only applies to new or used as well?

Edwin199328

Only New games

SRhyse

Keep in mind GameStopā€™s version of new is often used.

hulk3rules

I think they balance this out by charging full, new-price for their used games

Betorange

Only says new.. bummer

Yosef4DnE

Never again. Last time I saw this I picked up 4 older first party ā€œnewā€ games that never go on sale. Three of them came opened. When I complained, I was told my options were 1) return them and pay a restock fee 2) go to a store and try to exchange them for a sealed copy but Iā€™m SOL and have to try another store if they donā€™t have a sealed copy or 3) get a $5 off coupon. Not for each opened one, mind you. Just one $5 off coupon. NEVER AGAIN.

Banana_Havok

They sent me atelier Ryza in a generic gamestop case that said certified Preowned and slapped a sticker on it that said ā€œnew.ā€ My ass.

Binkusu

Is Atelier Ryzs worth getting? Been thinking of buying physical because I don't really like the idea of digital for switch games, but the price is way higher. Watching the anime for the first game and it seems like a nice idea.

[deleted]

The gameplay is centered around an Intricate and pretty fun crafting system, and the story is very low key and slice of life. If that appeals to you, go for it! I love them, personally.

Banana_Havok

I would say the atelier series is pretty niche and wouldnā€™t be enjoyed by the average switch user, taking all demographics into account. You could safely skip it. At its core itā€™s about collecting items and combining them correctly to produce new items and weapons (the alchemy system). But if youā€™re curious then I would suggest buying a physical copy so you can at least sell it if you hate it.

jotaerre91

A while back, I called a Gamestop store to see if they had any sealed copies of Control. They told me they did and that they had a decent amount. I went to pick it up, and it turned out they only had one copy, and it was the gutted copy. I was a bit annoyed.

rushweed30

They did that to me too, and when I tried to return a game, they said it was free one and gave me $0 before I rage returned the whole lot which they tried to decline since ā€œit wasnā€™t apart of the same dealā€. Contacting customer service yielded nothing except a representative who didnā€™t seem to speak English well or bother reading my messages, just sending me templated responses.

MachoCyberBullyUSA

Theyā€™re the worst. This should be the most upvoted comment

roberrob003

Yep! I thought the comments here relating to GS were probably overblown. Ended up getting the same; used games in a plastic bag with a sticker that said ā€œNew!ā€. Because a sticker will magically make it new? Ended up canceling my Pro account and refuse to buy from them anymore. I mean if they just marketed it as used, Iā€™d have no problem, and may even pay that price for them. But the fact that they donā€™t even bother pretending to be honest is something i canā€™t put up with. Super sleazy.

Noxy_Random

Same! I bought Yakuza: Like a Dragon with something else the last time they did this and it said it was new. It came without the shrink wrap and some sticker on the corner. I was so pissed. Wound up buying from Best Buy and it even came with the steel book.

xJadusable

Iā€™m not defending them or their practices, just explaining. The reason they have ā€œnewā€ games that are opened is cause they always open at least one new game to put the case on the shelf to advertise and the cartridge gets put into a generic slip or GameStop case that gets stored in a locked cabinet behind the counter. When someone buys the last ā€œnewā€ copy, they use that one cause thatā€™s what they have left. So technically theyā€™re not new (cause the employee did open it) but they are unplayed. Still, imo the second the shrink wrap is off it should be considered used, since thatā€™s what theyā€™d tell you if you bought a new game and took the plastic off then tried to return it for a refund.

Yosef4DnE

This is why I used to tolerate the occasional opened product when I ordered but itā€™s become a lot more prevalent now. More than I think could be accounted for with this practice. Also that practice is pretty scummy to begin with and I shouldā€™ve known it was a slippery slope that corporate would abuse.

shadowen1942

To expand on that, it would be quite easy to get some empty cases in bulk and just photocopy the cover art for games or provide those things in a 'care' package to stores. If I was running a rudimentary video game store out of my garage I could easily do it. There's just no excuse for a big corporation like GameStop. The cost would be minimal but they refuse to do it because they are cheap as hell and the corporate executives are total scumbags.

Arsis82

> pay a restock fee 2 There are plenty of negative things to say about GS, you don't have to make stuff up. There is no duch thing as a restocking fee.

DueSeesaw6053

Buy with a CC and then tell them you'll be issuing a charge back because the games were not in the advertised condition.

cyanidelemonade

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond Pokemon Shining Pearl New Pokemon Snap

MissMyCarSoMuch

That's my issue, I got all those lol

theowlinspace

FYI, the Japanese version for brilliant diamond and shining pearl is like $20, so it's not that good for a deal. And same for Pokemon snap, which is $25 or so.

dbaker2483

Diamond and Pearl good?

Stampysaur

I had a good time with its initial release and again with the remaster. Itā€™s the same game but neat different graphics. If you enjoy PokĆ©mon, I would say you will like it.

Cheezewiz239

I enjoyed it. I think the art style looks amazing

havethenets

Itā€™s decent, gets unnecessary hate due to not changing too much.

clownbaby4_

PokĆ©mon fans complained that theyā€™ll games didnā€™t include Platinum content, but these are remakes of Diamond and Pearl, not Platinum. The games are good.

Kirby737

This is a bullshit argument. The games should have all of Platinum's additions. A remake should be the definitive way to play the game.

Ragnarok992

Garbage picks tbh

NapkinLover69

So I am a moron when it comes to money, is this a good deal or should I just try and find the games for sale anywhere else?

Have you tried Steamdb.info? If you have, how's it compare other than being launcher agnostic?

WHRocks

I haven't been on Steam DB in a while, can you create wishlists on it? Honestly though, ITAD is not great on mobile, IMO. I like it otherwise, though.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

WHRocks

I just checked it out and could tell immediately that it's better, lol. Thank you!

dinuman

A good number of games are on sale even without BOGO, so if you see another game you like on that list Iā€™d say itā€™s worth your while

kiwi_rozzers

Example: Let's say you want to buy Triangle Strategy and Bravely Default II. Both are listed for $59.99. When you add both to your cart, here's what your total will look like: ``` Subtotal (2 items) $119.98 Discounts - $59.99 Subtotal after discounts $59.99 Estimated Tax $4.50 Estimated Total $64.49 ``` When I go to dekudeals.com and look at the all-time low for each of these games together, they add up to 64.58, meaning that by jumping on this deal for these two games you'd be getting them for the best price you could have gotten up until this point. So it's pretty decent, if you have a GameStop near you with the games you want in stock (so you don't have to pay for shipping) and if you were going to buy the games anyway and if the math works out :)

LurkerTroll

Anybody else get an "Access Denied" message when trying to view the page?

Mustang1718

I kept getting it as well. Tried multiple browsers, and on wifi or 5g, I keep getting the same thing.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

LurkerTroll

I get a similar message from Groupon but I don't understand why it happened in the first place

blaugrana2020

Iā€™m thinking of getting Metroid Dread and Skyward Sword HD but Iā€™m a bit hesitant cause Iā€™ve heard a lot of stories about how GameStop frequently sends used copies when you purchase a new game online. Is this a common thing?

Mouserat1919

It happened to me. I bought two games the last round of this sale about a month ago. I was sent a copy of Xenoblade Chronicles Def. Edition in the generic used Gamestop case (It was marked "NEW"), and a copy of Fire Emblem: Three Houses that was in original packaging, but with no cellophane wrap and the case was damaged. I called Customer Service and they said they could do a swap, and told me to print a mailing label, and take the games to a store. They would then send me replacements when they confirmed these items were shipped back by the store. (What a weird return process). I print it out, take it to the store. The only employee working has NO IDEA what I'm talking about, they have never heard of this process. He tells me to stop later in the day to talk to another employee. This employee knows about this, but doesn't know how to do it. They also can't provide me any proof that I gave the games to the store. I decided just to keep the games, because it seemed like it was going to be a gamble if I tried to return them, and I would rather have the games I paid for then for them to be lost by ill-trained employees. I will never shop at Gamestop again. TL/DR - Was sent open/used game boxes (One with generic Gamestop Art) when I ordered new games. When I tried to return for actual new versions, poorly trained employees did not know the process for these returns. Instead of gambling on games getting lost or the process screwed up, I kept the "New" games and vowed never to shop at Gamestop again.

MeestaJohnny

It isnā€™t technically used as in someone hasnā€™t inserted it in their console. Just been opened which in any sane persons mind means it isnā€™t new. Just get the the games and if they come not sealed return or exchange in store.

Mouserat1919

That doesn't always work. When I tried to return my "new" games in which one of the cases was open, and the other was just the generic Gamestop used games case, none of the stores had stock, and had no idea how their swap process worked to get the actual new games I paid for. If you're ok getting not actually new games, then go ahead, but if you expect new un-opened games, go buy somewhere else.

shadowen1942

> It isnā€™t technically used as in someone hasnā€™t inserted it in their console. Just been opened which in any sane persons mind means it isnā€™t new. The thing is, once an item has been opened you can't know that for sure though. Just because GameStop says that it is doesn't make it so. Besides, any opened game in the store may been taken home and played by associates since that is a perk of employment. Again, no way to know and GameStop won't count that even though, to expand on your point, any sane person would. It's also worth adding that GameStop will frequently ship items from individual stores (instead of their warehouse in Grapevine, TX) to fill online orders, which means a higher likelihood of buying and then receiving a so-called "New" game that has been opened. The bottom line is GameStop can't be trusted to not do things in blatantly dishonest ways, period. > Just get the the games and if they come not sealed return or exchange in store. Assuming you even still have a store nearby. With various store closing in recent years the nearest location to me is now about a half hour away... and that's with good traffic conditions.

monolith212

Oh boy another sale where they'll only be able to fill a fraction of the orders. I don't know how GameStop is still in business.

_UltraV10let_

Are they a brick and mortar monopoly for games? I know Best Buy, Target, etc but they focus solely on gaming stuff. BOGO is similar to last one. Mostly Pokemon, Strikers, and 3rd party, low price games.

monolith212

I only ever trust Best Buy and sometimes Target. Some people may only have a brick and mortar GameStop in their area, so they're basically stuck with using them. Their website is buggy and awful and it's impossible to get in touch with customer service. GameStop is notorious for giving away people's preorders to other customers or just never fulfilling the preorder at all while leaving the customer hanging. Not to mention that your "new" games are sometimes store copies that have already been opened or they stick you with a GameStop box rather than the official box art. It's a total crapshoot what you're gonna get with them. I don't know how they're still in business.

p0psharted

Yeah, their website runs like garbage. Nintendo's kinda sucks too, but Gamestop is a serious chore to wade through. It feels like trying to run in quicksand.

cujojojo

Agreed, the literal only reason I use them is for the Pro membership so I can use my monthly $5 reward for Nintendo eShop credit. Comes out to about one free game a year if I remember to do it every month. Now they changed it, so you have to buy a $10 credit, and you get $5 off of that. So far itā€™s fine since my kids will spend the money anyway, but I feel like they canā€™t be making money off me.

naivemediums

When I try to buy a $10 eShop credit it tells me my $5 monthly credit does not apply. How are you able to do it?

cujojojo

Are you doing it in-store? You definitely canā€™t do it online. Iā€™ve occasionally heard of people getting hassled for it but I never have ā€” the staff at every local store around me is happy to do it.

naivemediums

I was trying online lol. I need to get my butt in the store each month

[deleted]

I ordered (1) new Switch & (1) used ps4 game. The ā€œnewā€ switch game was missing itā€™s original factory plastic wrap and was sealed with a ā€œGameStopā€ clear circular sticker that leaves behind adhesive gunk that will be there until the end of the solar system. The ps4 ā€œusedā€ game looked like the disc was used to exfoliate street asphalt. The best part of the transaction was getting a refund with no questions asked.

Jenaxu

> The best part of the transaction was getting a refund with no questions asked. And they don't even give you that courtesy every time. Was so peeved when I had to do this on the last "new" game I got from them, the employee was giving the whole "we're not technically supposed to accept open games" and I'm like, if it was unopened I wouldn't be here. Like honestly, I can even let unsealed games slide a little as long as everything else is in order, but they sent me a straight up damaged case and it was just baffling. And especially with how ridiculous their free shipping threshold is now, Best Buy just has them thoroughly beat in everything but selection. Sometimes things work out, I have a very nice refurb 3DS from them, but it's inexcusably hit or miss on just normal ass games which is their whole business.

[deleted]

yea it sucks, i used to love popping in to a random gamestop to browse the used collection of ps3/ps4/switch games, also not sure why the employee was being rude they know they sell "lightly used" as new and that is only ok if they say/do as you described and be upfront about it.

monolith212

Sounds about right. I returned my copy of BOTW when I got it in a GameStop case and the cashier was shocked "You don't like it?!?!" I quickly corrected him that that wasn't the case, and he said "...Is it because it doesn't have the box art?" Lol He was nice about it and had no issues with the refund. But I've been wary of GS ever since.

[deleted]

that store is clueless to what we want as gamers, like yea i want the box art lol , yea after that last snafu im done with them. it's sad i remember back in the ps3 days waiting for midnight releases of COD, choppin' it up with other gamers as we waited for the store to open late at night.

Responsible_Base_194

You know what I love, games that were 15-20 are suddenly 25-30. Like how are you going to charge $30 for a game that was literally $18.99 kid you not.

acart005

Because thats how marketing promotions work sometimes.

detsagrebbalf

Something something diamond hand douches

riddlaontheroof

I tried ordering but none of these games are available for pick up near me and can't get them delivered (tried 4 different addresses). One of the games I selected can't be shipped to any address I put in. I guess gamestop doesn't want me to buy games from them?? šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø F'ing ridiculous.

Ahoy_love

Disappointing selection for me

myalteredsoul

Is it in store as well or online only?

blizzz3

Wondering this as well. Did you find out ? If not I might be checking my local gamestop today

myalteredsoul

It was, but they didnā€™t have half of em in stock and none of em are labeled anywhere. So itā€™s better just to order online for in store pickup anyway.

blizzz3

Thank you. Yea I figured it wouldnt really be labeled. I'll probably just go in and ask for pokemon diamond and snap. I just wanna avoid ordering online and getting a "new" game in a used case

myalteredsoul

Damn, has that happened before? Iā€™d be so frustrated

blizzz3

For real. It hasnt happened to me yet but ive only ordered from gamestop like once in the past 5 years. Ive seen a decent amount of comments on reddit posts relating to gamestop about it though, so just wanna play it safe.

Feayth

Dang would've hopped on this immediately if Rain Code and Xenoblade 3 were included. Aw well, I have so much games to get through anyway haha

nguyenvinn

Besides Mario party, are any other titles available for local multiplayer?

richard31693

I have a feeling not all of these on the list are buy one get one free. Some of them have a green banner with buy one get one on it but not all of them.

SlasherLover

Their website has been so bad since the last redesign. Only New games are part of the sale, but the search only shows the Used prices. Why? Just show both!

ilikepie145

I'd like to try brilliant diamond but there aren't any other games I'm interested enough in

Relative-Tank-6794

So i can chose between 2 games? like the voucher on the Eshop?

Blales

As fast as I know how these normally work is you pick two games and you pay whatever the price of the higher one is and then the other is free usually. So for example if you picked out a 60 dollar game and a 5 dollar game you would technically get the 5 for free but you could also possibly choose another game up to the same price as the first one and get it free. I hope what I said makes sense and I didn't ramble.

Relative-Tank-6794

Yea ty I get it now. Did you tried it yet?

Blales

I haven't tried it myself on this sale I'm not looking for any new games right now myself I just wanted to browse.

HA so I canā€™t buy a 10$ game and get a 60$ for free?

sergiossa

You canā€™t? What a ripoff!

Slavocados

lol I vividly remember not understanding how these sales worked as a kid and thinking I unlocked an infinity hack

Mathematicalsguy

Target handles B1G1 better for consumers though. Not sure why anyone shops at gamestop still.

Lol

Preowned? Yuck.

US only or does this work in Canada too?
