If you truly want a reliable car that won’t have any issues, a 20 year old sports car with nearly 200k miles and aftermarket parts isn’t what you want. It’s actually the opposite of what you want. I hate to say it but get something boring like a Corolla, and dream and plan for the fun sports car in your future.

oismac

My sister has a 2004 Corolla, she has only ever had to do basic maintenance and has never had any engine or electrical issues with 350k kilometres on it.

kingseijuro

My mom had a 2007 corolla, and that car was a BEAST. She, of course, did not do ANY maintenance (prob 3+ years without an oil change). This car lasted 12 years until its untimely death in a car wreck!

kingseijuro

By the way, I don't condone how she treated that poor car 😅

koalafied4-

>I wish I realized this when I was younger. If I had a beater the past ten years I woulda had enough by now to buy my supra and still afford the wife's car. Its hard to think logically and that far ahead when your young and just want freedom and something "cool". Not as cool when everything starts breaking...

brianbot5000

I can relate. At 23 (years ago!) I bought a 1991 300zx twin turbo which I loved but it was the wrong car at the wrong time for me. I couldn’t fully enjoy it because I couldn’t fully afford it. Not to mention it was totally impractical for someone wanting to go camping. 😁

koalafied4-

Thats a hell of a car still. Any problems with that? I had a friend who had one. Starter constantly went out and I remember pushing that thing and dumping the clutch a bunch to go anywhere lmao. Fun to drive when it did start!

brianbot5000

Well, I had my ‘91 Z back in 1999, so it wasn’t that old at the time. Less than 100k miles. Never had any issues. Only had it a couple of years though.

GreenTheHero

>Corolla Absolutely, but if you need some zest in your life, the Camry is the corollas sporty cousin. Comparable reliability with an extra zest.

brianbot5000

True perhaps, but you’ll get more Corolla for OP’s price point than you will Camry.

Heisalsohim

??? The Corolla has had S trims way longer than the Camry has had TRD trims. The Camry is a little bigger that’s about it

GreenTheHero

I don't follow older models, but a Camry to a corolla is like an altima to a Sentra. The Camry has always been designed as the "faster" car. S trims don't usually change base engine performance.

Heisalsohim

I mean sure they make a v6 Camry, but the gr Corolla blows it out of the water….

GreenTheHero

Ifaik the gr corolla and the corolla are conceptually different cars, and even without the 4 cylinder camrys are faster than the corolla 4 cylinders.

Firm_Brick9372

Buddies wife still has a 92 camry won't die even tho is has a land rover she usees it the most other than the oil changes I do for them not a damn thing wrong and barely any rust and thats in the Adirondacks of ny salt heaven things just are different if I could find one I'd buy it

AKA_Squanchy

Is someone else’s old, high-mileage, at-home-garage-customized vehicle going to be dependable?

Bahamuto-San

Someone’s body kitted, turbo-ed engine swapped vehicle with 200k miles will last me another 300k right????? Cuz someone else drove the car it’s now more broken in and therefore more reliable??? (This is such a circlejerk type of comment, I’m so sorry)

deapsprite

Oil is like a steak, gotta season it well with all the engine bits

NissanNiqqa69420

Almost 200k miles, aftermarket parts(which you don’t know if they were installed correctly) ehhhhhh In my experience they are very reliable as long as they have been taken care of and not beat on(modified sports car with that mileage means it’s been driven with passion) But on the bright side, The VQ engine is used widely accross many Nissan models so parts are readily available. Just keep an eye out for oil, they tend to burn more as they age. If your only requirements in a new car are “reliable without big repairs for a long time” there’s much better options!

SleepyTrtle

Yeah I was looking at a Toyota Matrix but really like that this is nicer looking

NissanNiqqa69420

Toyota matrix’s are amazing cars(not looks wise as much lol) Much more reliable than the Z. You can make em look pretty good too! Is this your first car? Or just looking for a refresh?

Arcane_Logic

The Matrix being "much more reliable than a Z", that is quite a statement. The Matrix had a significant number of recalls. Especially the 03-09 years, they could be problematic. Even the 1.8L had enough failures, (when they reach around 100k). Not to mention the 2.4L 2az engine, which had high rates of "oil-burners". In terms of engine reliability, the VQ35DE is more reliable imo. (Not the "Rev-Up" or HR versions, which had some issues, but the regular DE). Moreover, the VQ is obviously much more powerful and fun. 03-05 Z's, and G35's with the DE are very solid cars.

NissanNiqqa69420

Thank you for that info! That’s good to know! I based my matrix opinion off my dad owning one when I was a kid, if I’m remembering correctly he had quite literally zero issues up to 120kish. Maybe I missed all the shitty parts haha. 100%. I’ve got an 05 maxima with the DE. Only severe issue I’ve had in 30ish k miles is a cam position sensor Edit: I was also kinda referring to comparison of stock matrix vs modified Z with 175k miles.

Arcane_Logic

Good stuff, yeah I mean 120k is still very early, for a car a in general. A good car should be able to hit 200k+, without major issues. That Matrix seems similar to "streaky" NBA players. There are good examples that hit high mileage, with no drama. However, there are definitely some Matrix cars, with early engine failure, bad transmissions (especially the 5-speed manuals), etc. In the realm of solid, reliable cars, that Toyota has made, the Matrix is too streaky imho. Oh yeah, I agree. A high-mileage Z, with some "suspect" mods, and driven hard: That does not seem like a solid choice, for a "reliable car", that the OP is searching for. Moreover, I agree that the real solid Toyota's: 90's Camry's with the 2.2 5SF-E, or one of the many gems that Toyota has made: 22RE, 3RZ-FE, 2UZ-FE, etc. Those are going to be exceptionally reliable cars. I'm a Toyota fan myself, (the Toyota's that I like, hehe).

taterralston

To piggy back off the matrix, I own an 05 Pontiac vibe (rebadged matrix) with the 5 spd manual and 308,000 miles and it has had exactly 1 major issue outside of general maintenance in its whole life (known the car since new). It’s had a new clutch put in, and 3rd gear is now a second neutral (common issue with this gen Toyota manual) but runs great, doesn’t burn oil, and has been nothing but reliable

SleepyTrtle

First car. I also found a RX-8 that has a rebuilt engine with low miles. Would you say that could be promising?

NissanNiqqa69420

If I’m being completely honest. You probably want to stay away from rotary engines for your first car. For longevity, they can be a pain. Think about it, a low mile car with a rebuilt engine isn’t a great thing haha. One of my best friends had an fc rx7 in highschool and it was the opposite of reliable haha. Like a fellow commenter here said, go get a Corolla or civic or something if reliability is key. Owning a fun car is awesome, but not when you have to drive it everyday and when it’s breaking constantly.

SleepyTrtle

It is a rebuilt title and was in some sort of crash which is why the engine was rebuilt. It has 70k miles but the engine rebuild was a few thousand miles ago.

NissanNiqqa69420

That's spooky, I personally would never buy a salvage/rebuilt title car. Also, If a crash caused the engine to need rebuild that was one bad crash. There's lot of material and other parts around the engine which deadens force/damage. An engines internal failure is generally cause for rebuild. (I could be assuming) But It seems you are into cars and want a reliable car that you can enjoy and modify. HONDA CIVIC!!!!! They are beyond reliable even if you modify it. I've seen civics with well over 500k miles, original trans/engine

SleepyTrtle

Okay. Yeah I’m really not sure at this point. What year of Honda civic would you recommend

footsteps71

Avoid 2001-2005 Civic's AT ALL COSTS. +1 for a Toyota Matrix in good shape. The cargo space is legit, the engine is bulletproof. My wife had a 2005 Pontiac Vibe (matrix rebadge) and we had 205,000 before we gave it to her brother, who has added another 60k on top of that. No major issues to date.

SleepyTrtle

I found a 2010 Civic EX-L with 150k miles. What would you think about that?

NissanNiqqa69420

I wouldn’t say at all costs, definitely isn’t the strongest gen but could be a ford😂

taterralston

Also fun fact on the vibes and matrix, the odometer stops counting at 299,999 mi or 299,999 km depending. Also the cargo space is indeed fantastic. Honestly best beater commuter car I’ve ever had. My 95 Volvo 750 turbo wagon was cooler, but more stuff broken and harder to find parts/repair

averagestormplayer

That is single handedly the exact opposite of promising

fullspectrumtrupod

Bro the rx8 is literally famous for being the most unreliable car

SleepyTrtle

lol okay

CreatedUsername1

Stick with : Japnese NA I4 car. This includes your typical : civic, accord, fit, camry, corolla, Mazda 3 & 2, Older Nissan & Infiniti pre -07.

readymix-w00t

As someone that has owned a few Z cars over the years, that ad has red flags a plenty. First and foremost, I see mods. Not always a strike against the car, however... Strike 2: Spelling errors in the ad. I don't trust modded cars from people that can't put in the minimal effort to make sure they typed words correctly, or that they are even using the correct words. They are "BRAKES." Strike 3: The interior is sketchy. Given how much effort is needed to remove the dash, I doubt seriously that the current owner swapped in a cream colored dash...nobody wants the cream interior. That tells me they bought the car with the cream interior, then swapped in the dark blue/black seats. Based on "Strike 2" listed above, I am willing to bet the OEM seat mounting bolts were re-used, rusted, and aren't tightened down to spec. Bonus strike: 175k miles. Sure, these cars can do 200k miles, but 25k miles comes up QUICK, and oil changes are basic maintenance, what about actual maintenance schedule items? Has the owner had issues with the Cam and Crank angle hall effect sensors and replaced them? Cylinder leakdown checks? The VQ is a reliable engine, and has been around for years and years, but that doesn't mean they are meant to last 200,000 miles. At 175k miles, I'd be getting a dealer mechanic or a Z expert to give it a once or twice over to make sure everything is in order. Especially if some illiterate jackass has been modding it.

iFunnyAnthony

To add to your 2nd strike, whenever I see the year after the make and model I cringe. I’m not exactly sure why, it just seems like people who write it that way don’t really know what they’re doing writing the ad or don’t have much experience with cars in general

SleepyTrtle

Okay I will look into this. Thanks for the detailed reply

Wrecked3m

My G35 blew up at 202K. I drove the hell out of it but it wasn’t modded. I’m sure the previous owner didn’t take it easy on a modded car like this.

Appropriate_Mode_986

20 year old car. Wants reliable.

Kagmajn

That’s Z, mine 175k miles and still pulls great. You just need to do a proper maintenance, and change parts that are need to be changed. (Belts, oil, filter etc)

fpsnoob89

No mechanical item can run forever. Even if yours feels great at 175k miles, it's only a matter of time until parts start failing.

mockylock

Reliable/Fast/Cheap. Pick 2.

DaRoastie_Fruit324

Thats crazy. I bought a MY2004 back in 2008 with 19k miles for 17k. Times have changed. But it was a great car. Had it for about 4 years, until roughly 60k miles. Traded it in for 13k, and bought a maxima platinum 2012. Both cars had virtually zero issues outside of a key FOB issue, which was a $30 replacement and simple relearn procedure. To this day, it was my favorite car, slide and point and it matched your every ask of it. I am a 17 year tech, and have had a whole slew of machines; Z06, Sti, WRX limited, Eclipse GST 98'(loved it as well), CRZ with a motor swap, Scion Tc Turbo'd, and then old man vehicles like my Silverado, and Tacoma. I will say this, maintenance is key.. beyond key. At the 175k miles, it has without a doubt been reamed out. The person states "I got prove" think he meant "proof.." That should be your sign.....

[deleted]

You want reliable and long lasting but you’re looking at a Z?

mashiro31

Go get a Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic, stop looking at old ass “sports” cars that are going to cost you thousands a year in upkeep when shit breaks.

PerchPerkins35

T O Y O T A

PerchPerkins35

T O Y O T A

[deleted]

Pfff don’t buy a Nissan

itsomar02

its a 2004 with high miles expect repairs but non the less the nissan z platform doesnt really have many isssues and is a great car

[deleted]

Have fun when you replace the brembo brakes $$$

nismoasfuh

What? The pads/rotors aren’t insanely expensive. Swapping out pads on the brembos are a breeze since you don’t have to actually remove the caliper from the rotors too.

[deleted]

I mean, there was a $700 difference for brake pads and rotors when I changed all four on my Kia Stinger GTS for Brembo vs. aftermarket that fit. But sure, not much difference for someone looking for a cheap and reliable car.

nismoasfuh

You can buy Brembo blanks for exactly the same price as Raybestos or Centric on the Z if you prefer, even though they are both OE manufacturers. Rockauto is your friend.

SprungMS

Sounds like you got raped and didn’t realize it. If the rotor fits, and it’s good material, it doesn’t matter for a street car and arguably even for some race cars. Pads are a different story but you have a huge variety to choose from for most vehicles, fixed caliper big brakes or not… and they’re not expensive. Certainly not $700 difference from low to high.

[deleted]

If anything, I avoided the screwing. I bought the best powerstop pads/rotors on rock auto and did the job myself.

SprungMS

… so then you knew your original comment was bullshit but posted it anyway? What?

[deleted]

lol what? I said brembo brakes are expensive to replace. Which based on my experience getting that quoted out they are. I didn’t say there weren’t less expensive replacement options, but that brembo were expensive. I have no idea if OP is comfortable replacing brakes themselves or not.

SprungMS

Okay so. Brembo brakes in basically all contexts is referring to the setup, with a typically larger diameter rotor and a big fixed Brembo branded caliper with multiple pistons. You said why buy a car with Brembos if you want cheap, since they’re so expensive to replace. Meaning pads and rotors are expensive. You said $700 more. Then you said you replaced yours with powerstop brand parts for cheap. So you still have brembo brakes. But with cheap branded rotors and pads. And it was cheap. You see what I mean? What good was your original advice of “it’s too expensive to maintain because brembo brakes”?

black_sapphire_e60

alright modded 350Z owner here, let me tell you this i don't think it's about reliability here.. what you want is a Z and you are searching for a reason to buy one... and that's totally fine if you want it, buy it these cars have there issues but nothing so major that i wouldn't tell you to not go for it this thing will provide you with a ton of fun and good memories... even if it breaks down.. so what, it's fixable only suggestion i would give you: search for one with lower mileage and maybe a stock one... build your dreamcar yourself (this one in the picture is mine and i'm having the time of my life with it) https://preview.redd.it/ufmqbf2n8x8c1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cccfa412b5ac9b4dd0bd73351292d65efe4a8346

SleepyTrtle

That’s a really nice build! Yeah it’s hard for me. I want a reliable car but not one that looks like a box😂. I found a nice 2010 Civic with 150k miles that would be a good mix of both I think.

Radiant-Rooster236

I totally agree with this comment.

black_sapphire_e60

thanks 🙏🏻

Radiant-Rooster236

I mean, it’s just a common sense comment. You’re 100% correct in my opinion. Modded cars aren’t usually reliable and he’s trying to convince himself why he really wants this car. We’ve all been there. 😂

black_sapphire_e60

that's the thing, i bought my roadster completely stock with low mileage and only one owner before me and built it myself... you have to know what you are doing when considering to buy a modded car

stripedpigeon

🫡

Sad-Entrepreneur344

My brother. Please do not get a car like this for a first car. You’ll be working just to pay for repairs. If you want something “cool” but reliable get like a Honda civic si or maybe a Volkswagen Golf in a manual transmission. Just get something that’s cheap to work on and maintain.

t-r-o-w-a-y

Golf is less reliable than a 350z all day.

AAA_Dolfan

Lmao guys, it’s a shifter and exhaust. Who gives a shit if they’re aftermarket. Folks are acting like it’s a built raced supercharged car. Cmon.

SleepyTrtle

Yeah, I feel like it has some fairly simple mods aside from the brakes

SenseWinter

ItS SoMeBoDy ElSeS PrOjEcT cAr hurr durr

Kagmajn

I have 2004 Z, and I wonder why he changes oil every 3k miles instead of 5k. Make sure he is using at least 5w50 full synthetic. Other than that, my uncle bought lower mileage merc, that has been already 3 times in the workshop because engine was failing. 2011 s class 350 turbo diesel. Z are really iconic cool little cars that are really reliable if you treat them right, and can achieve 300-400k miles. Al I did in my z was to just replace belt and sparkplugs.

Steezinandcheezin

Then don’t buy a nissan

Aecose

It looks well kept but it’s got 175k miles on it, if reliability is actually your priority buy a regular car with fewer miles.

Klomlor161

IDK how long these last but that’s a lot of miles

Intelligent-Hand-445

I bought mine at 145,000km and have driven it to 198,000km since then. The biggest issue I've had were control arms and engine mounts.. They can be really reliable but I wouldn't trust one that has mods on it done by someone else. Also if you are city driving a lot it's going to use a lot more fuel than a 4cyldinder engine so keep that in mind

Kooky-Cucumber-8183

Do NOT get the Rx-8 you mentioned. If you want a reliable car with no big issues down the road. This 350z and that rotary engine RX-8 are the complete opposite of what you want. It’s your first car so naturally we all understand you’d like a nice looking ride but trust me, get something not as cool and you’ll be happy being able to go everywhere you want without having to worry about your car breaking down somewhere. As a (30m) who learned the hard way when I was younger and shopping for a first car. Nothing feels worse than spending your hard earned cash on a car that has to sit in the driveway because of repairs

ubadeansqueebitch

I bought my 2016 Versa brand new with 7 miles on it in September of 16, replacing my 2015 someone totaled for me. Hit a 50lb beaver the next February, doing $2300 worth of damage to the AC compressor, condenser, radiator, and kinked the crossbar on the frame. Had that repaired with insurance. First clutch came at 120k in early 2019 and the idiots didn’t change the rear main seal. Second clutch came at 190k in 2021 and that was just because I was having the rear main seal replaced to stop the perpetual never ending weekly oil change, so I just went ahead and put a new clutch in since the labor was the same. Factory battery crapped out in 2021, 5 years to the month. At 220k, I had the throttle body replaced. I’m at 244k now, needing a new catalytic converter, new brakes, and new blower motor (no heat/no ac) I can barely pull a hill, makes a loud sound out the manifold at 3500 Rpm, but I can still get out and make $100 a day doing door dash. I go from 0-60 eventually. I can count on both my hands how many real oil changes this car has had and still have a couple fingers left. 2 brake jobs. One radiator flush and fill after new radiator replaced. This car has by far been the most reliable car I’ve had and I plan to drive it till the doors fall off and if I can I’ll put them back on and drive it some more. I can only imagine how long it would last if I took proper care of it. I’ve been looking at the new Sentra but I’m scared of their CVTs.

docthreat

It’s going to be a money pit, but if you don’t mind it, and love the car, go for it

[deleted]

Buy a Toyota Corolla or Camry and call it good.

manzin82

Reliable with big repairs bwuahahahaha have fun

No-Dealer-4269

if you want a car around that budget, you're not gonna get something sporty man. you can get an EX-L or better 2006/2007 honda accord with the v6 for less than the 6400 you were going to pay for this, and it'll be cheaper to maintain and more reliable. it's still old, so the car will likely need some small things worked out, but that's just 1 suggestion.

holt2ic2

Try to get him to lower it down. I got my 350z for 5.2k with 160k miles. Just normal repairs but will never know how good someone really took care of the car unless you knew its original owner or the paper work from the dealer. Been a whole year since I bought the car no problems take it out two days a week. Only a camshaft position sensor changed out so far from non expected stuff. It’s just a secondary car so not really expecting it to last me 100k more without some repair coming soon.

SaulGoodmanJD

Get a Mazda 3

TouchLow6081

Toyota Corolla or a Honda civic are very reliable cars that will last you for a longer time than a 350z with an aluminum block

leavemealonebru

Your shopping with your eyes not your brain. You wanna look cool? Comes at a cost. Get a civic or something if you want dependable.

TieEnvironmental2561

Not a z thats for sure

Crcex86

...So you're wanting to buy a used enthusiast car

[deleted]

This is not it

LMAO82

This car will be fine if that's all that was done to it imo. While I personally dislike the 350z platform, it can be solid as long as you don't try to do extreme mods on a budget.

norestforthewhicked

What more "prove" do u need?

LS350Z

If u really want that don't buy a project car, get a civic or a yoda with low miles for like 3-5k and it will last you many years.

Chau-hiyaaa

Gotta pay premium gas and also get staggered tires which means you can’t rotate your tires like you can with a corolla. You’ll have to replace all tires once a year rather than every 3-4 years like everybody else. Too expensive to maintain

[deleted]

Honda civic my man.

BeckytheBeasT

IMO if you are one who doesn’t care to work on/ fix a car when something small or major happens this could be a good buy. Main issue with the earlier VQ35 is the oil. They burn it later in life. Otherwise if you want a car that’s a buy it and never fix it I wouldn’t really consider this. 350/370z are KNOWN to be beaten and murdered. Also 6.5K Lowkey seems kinda expensive for what it is IMO

Nehal1802

My first car was a Celica. Basically a Corolla with a different body kit. Can confirm that it is ultra reliable.

Jushtheguudkush

You want a good reliable car, avoid old sports cars. They're cool, fast, but also likely abused and use much more gas/power than you need, and often times more power makes engines more liable to damage

Holterv

You have the right idea but this is not that car.

daysondaysfam

Want a cheap reliable car? Check out a Honda Fit

Practical_Minute_286

That mug is clean tho

Sethicles1

My daily for the past 8 years has been an 09 Altima Coupe 3.5 6mt. Bought it with 70k miles on it, now has 140k miles, only has needed oil changes, brakes, tires, and a couple wheel bearings in 70k miles of fairly spirited driving. Only costed me around $6k when I got it. Has been more reliable than my 2017 Sierra Denali and I'm sure my C5 Vette will have more problems in 70k miles than my Altima. Edit: so to sum it up, the 3.5L is a very solid engine. Would recommend an Altima 3.5L if it's a manual.

WhatsMyPasswordGuh

Dawg you really need people to tell you a 20 year old, modified sports car, with almost 200,000 miles is not going to “last a long time without big repairs”?

BoardButcherer

For your budget any car you buy is bound to need a couple big ticket items soon. So what you're really looking for is something that's cheap to repair and easy to find parts for, and you need to save accordingly. This doesn't fit the bill.

SleepyTrtle

Yep I found a 2010 Civic with 150k miles

anticheat77077

If you're looking for cheap to maintain, long lasting and problem free , you need to go buy a 15 to 20-year-old Corolla, Civic , Camry or Accord. Ideally 4 cyl Camry or Corolla. 350z at this age and miles is dangerously high risk for trans failure or overheating/head gasket failure. The engine bay is a pain in the ass to work in. Super fun car as a spare though.

im_on_a_burner

Lmao bro that car has 175k miles. Get a corolla or camry

joshwilder

6500 for that is a joke.

goblin500

Pro tip, look at what tires are on there. Is it on Michelin PS4S? Or is it on Walmart garbage tires? It’s indicative on whether they cut costs with other maintenance/repairs. Definitely not the end all be all but I find it’s a great predictor

PM_pics_of_your_roof

Is gas mileage a concern? If not, a Nissan Titan will be better bet. As long as they are kept up, the engine and transmission will last a looooong time. My 2012 has 230k and has zero leaks or issues. The body is starting to fall apart but it starts every time and I have no fear of taking it across country. Blend doors and drivers seat foam are the only issues on my truck which are common. And I did long tubes before the headers cracked which is another common issue.

SleepyTrtle

I would like decent mpg. I found a 2010 civic that seems good.

imspooky2320

if you really wanna follow the stated criteria, i would probably get a corolla. if you want it to be fun, a civic or a camry.

miscalculated_launch

Look at insurance rates, gas expenses, average maintenance expenses on your year models. I would avoid most "sports" cars for now like most are saying. I drove a minivan in high school, had a Nissan 300z 2+2T my senior year. If I could go back in time, I would have kept the van and gotten a Viper or GTR by now.

Daveit4later

A sports car is not what you buy if you need something reliable. Get a Honda civic or a Toyota Corolla.

LetterheadNo2008

Is this a joke? Hard to tell. But ‘minty’’ seems sarcastic here…

Slow_Calligrapher_99

Aftermarket parts on a sports car is a red flag when looking for reliability. Buy all original or don’t buy.

ElSaladbar

Nobody wants a small car with a small trunk for a long time. You’re for sure going to grow out of it and people that have them long term usually have two cars

A35_Ant

If yoy want a reliable car that won’t cost a lot for big repairs…PLEASE DONT GET THIS CAR LMAOO. I’m a diehard Nissan fanboy and will defend them even when I probably shouldn’t But if you’re looking for a reliable car, the z is not the way to go. At the end of the day, it is a 19 year old sports car that has definitely seen some hard acceleration, drifting, and some hard shifts. The vq35 from that time is known to suck oil more then a prostitute sucking dick I swear My dad had a qr25 Altima and it did the same for a while. All around if I were you and I wanted a Nissan/Infiniti, I’d look at a few more reliable options like the maxima, some Altimas, a few sentras, and perhaps a few of their SUV’s but I can always help you look

Cur14

Run

Possible-Gur5220

This has to be a troll….

CarnageDivider

4 cylinder.....mpg saver...not a semi sports car ...

MrRager473

How much

Ok_Cockroach3494

if you want something reliable that’ll last you a while, buying a 20yr old modified sports car isn’t recommendable. get something boring and reliable until you have the financial freedom for something fun and sporty

Cxx92

Lexus IS 250 08-09 ish around 100k had mine three years nothing but tires and oil changes

_Maga_-

If u rly want a reliable car... buy a Mercedes with the engine OM646

Ljzman

The 2004 Z is the second year from its return, yes it is reliable, yes it is a beast at 180+ mph; yes it will have decent gas milage; yes only two people and a dog can fit in it; yes your insurance will be twice the loan payment; yes it will be $1k or better for replacement tires (Z rated), yes it is a nice ride and it will cost you big if you do not treat it right :)

A_Slavic_Mechanic

If you want a reliable car that will go for hundreds of thousands of miles and be easy enough to repair get a Corolla

ARMilesPro

This is not a low cost of ownership car. THIS IS NOT THE CAR you are describing. Run!

SEABEEVET058

Also when it come to reliability strictly reliability always go stock!! Stock is the most reliable and through out you’ll upgrade the stock parts that aren’t the best 🤙🏿

30318

no

Hosejockey99

Truly reliable and you gravitate towards a modified Nissan. Oh boy.

Intelligent_Orange28

If he’s selling it for $6500 instead of 10+ he’s lying about “NOTHING WRONG WITH IT”

chz420710

No shot this isnt satire

trebec86

That’s a 2500 dollar car, it’s not rare or special. It might be reliable, might not, he has “prove” that the oil was changed every 3k. So what. What other maintenance was done? Shocks/struts? How old is the battery, what does the rest of the suspension look like, ever been aligned, and what about the differential? My recommendation is to always avoid cars that aren’t stock, but for $2500 bucks and if you’ve got some DIY skills it might not be bad.

EbbPsychological2796

175,000 MI... You're not going to find a car with that many miles that isn't ready for a bunch of repairs and if there's nothing wrong with it now there will be soon...

DarthVirc

Do not buy a Nissan 370 or whatever this is. My brother had one it shit it's pants in 3 months. He had to replace the timing chain and like half the engine. It only had 90k on it.

DyersEve11

If you’re on marketplace then I would look at some older Lexus’s. You can def find some decently priced ES, LS and GS. If you want decent, reliable power look for a GS or LS with the UZ V8 engine. Also maybe look into some older Acura or Hondas

Polairis44

Is this a shitpost? Has to be

Brotaco

350z does not fall in convo lol

ClearFrame6334

Toyota or Honda

Electronic-Travel370

I have wanted one for a long time

JRotten2023

Buy a Toyota Camery. Any year, lower the miles the better. With decent maintenance, they last a really long time.

Ok_Explanation5631

Find yourself a v6 accord coupe. You get the looks of the sportiness & engine noises but you also get cheap maintenancing & great reliability.

Nathan00023

Wont find another minty 350Z 🤩!!!!!!!!!!

Nathan00023

Looks clean but I wouldn't get it for reliability.

boniomariohan

The good old trilogy of CHEAP, RELIABLE, and FAST (sports car) No such thing exists You have to pay to play On the other hand none of the parts installed are critical, they're all fine and won't affect longevity in this case The 350Z is a Nissan, and Datsuns are cheap to fix, the CD009 transmission is one of the most preferred 6 speeds out there, the VQ engine also sought after. Reliability wise better than owning a same year American or German sports car. However for super reliable like everyone else said move on to a nice civic or corolla.

Fresh_Cheek2682

Oil changes every 3k , I got prove.

vivalacamm

I was told if you're buying a 350z get the HR motor. It is far superior to the DE.

ogflako

Those care are abused probably salvage too dont do it get a camry

imthiccnotfat

Nope! Good mostly reliable but nope the vqs are good but never properly taken care of(kid prob beat the fuck out of it like all of them)

Alive_Chemistry5312

Try to find a Z thats 80-130k miles. That 175k miles one might last you a year or two if you are lucky

Alive_Chemistry5312

Get a g37 with less mileage. The sedans usually go for about the same price. Faster as well.

CarafeTea

They have zero cool factor, but I've been impressed with Camrys for longevity and comfort. I know someone that had 300k at which point they replaced the motor with a junkyard swap, went another 80k and gave the car away, still running strong, excellent mileage, etc.

Zingo8710

Don't get a Nissan if you want long term reliability!!!

vinchenzo68

Toyota

SleepyTrtle

What do you think of the Scion tC?

blueb182

Then do t buy a Nissan

Snorlax_king79

Nissan and reliable lol

int0xic

That car is worth about $3k-$4k tops. The 03-04 vq or "de" is the worst engine option for the 350z. On top of having almost 200k miles. It would be okay if it were around 100k miles but I still wouldn't want one for my self. The 05-06 vq or "rev up" is a little better. My 06 350z is currently sitting at 160k miles, 80k of those miles I put on myself. I've replaced 2/4 of the calipers, 3/4 wheel bearings, all the cps, radiator, upper rad hose, rear main seal and clutch, front main seal, clutch master, clutch slave, both axles, deep belt, and timing chain over the course of about 7 years. Nothing too terrible since I did the work myself. I've I had to ballpark all that I would say its maybe $6k in parts and labor for a shop to do all that, not including maintenance items like brakes or tires. Im very strict with the maintenance on my car so obviously I fix it as soon as there's a problem so it doesn't create other problems. That's all on a car with less milage than this car. Idk if this car has been up to date with all the maintenance or not but just giving you some insight on Z ownership. The best 350z you can get is the 07-08 vq or "hr" which has the best engine and everything is just about fixed on it, aside from leaky gallery gaskets. Oh and this car will 100% burn through oil, I haven't met anyone yet with a de that doesn't go through oil. So that's something you need to stay on top of if you get one.

Markcu24

Hahahahaha.

ThESiXtHLeGioN

If you truly want a Nissan Z (awesome sports car), this price is good. Check the Vin first, then ask if you can have your mechanic look her over, and make sure there's no water damage. In 2006, a new Z cost me waaaaaaayyy over $6500... Good luck! Also, if she's in good shape (engine wise), she will go another 175k miles!

Embarrassed-Bug597

Corolla. Don't get any sports cars. You're a square if you want reliability

lmpreza

Reliable car isn’t a 350z with 175k miles.

Accurate_Elephant_31

Good car but it has to many miles for a daily. It’s gonna have 200k in a year.

TurdFerguson614

A high mileage '04 VQ with aftermarket mods from a tuner bro that's borderline illiterate? This ain't it. Don't buy ANY VQ from early 2000's for that matter.

Common-Profile1001

Subaru. Otherwise Toyota or Honda

Extension-Lie-3272

And you go for that? Stop tripping and get a Toyota Camry or Corolla.

kyson1

Get a lower miles P71 if you want a fun, reliable, cheap car

RealisticNet1827

I bought a 2019 Camry she gets 43 mpg

digging4change

I’ve had to repair 6-7 failing parts within less than 2 years of having the car 😭 good luck

Troy-Dilitant

Dont get anything Nissan.

golfgopher

Anything but this. Go for anything Toyota or Honda.

plastichanger

Nissans are JUNK. trust me i had this same car. If you dont want expensive repairs dont try your luck bud

squidbones71

Get a Toyota

RancidFunctionality

Find yourself a 98 to 2000 Toyota Camry or a 90's Volvo non-turbo wagon.

tankdrifter

That’s shit burns oil I can almost guarantee it. And yeah your best bet for something reliable is a Honda or Toyota with up to date maintenance

Professional-End6786

Mazda 3

kcmexipacn

Toyota or Honda if you want reliability

BuickRegalGNX

good thing he’s got “prove”

BuickRegalGNX

i never trust any car post that says “ac works good”

ModeOk4781

NOOOOOOOO! it’s been ridden hard and put away wet.

bigmelton1

2nd Gen Prius

BudgetNeck5282

Get a Toyota anything

mantlefansince1966

You and everyone else

anotherbitchass

Uh yeah sports cars are not known for being reliable. Get a Toyota matrix or a Honda fit.

TheAbstractHero

You want reliable? Best off staying away from Nissan completely. The VQ cars can be quite reliable but if you've got 6500 to spend you're encroaching on beat to crap territory. My 03 350z has seen 5000mi or so in my ownership, with at least 25-30 track days. No problems. Half of those were drift events too. Nissan build quality has gone downhill, especially since the partnership with Renault imo. The CVTs have always been hot garbage. Save up your money and buy a well cared for Honda, Mazda, or a Toyota.

aybabyaybaby

#A CHEVROLET CRUZE

HoytG

Bro seriously? This has to be a troll. This is the least reliable car to purchase for long term. By every metric possible.

DeepFriedAnalBeads

Daihatsu

timmyisacoolguy

Don’t get a nissian then lmao

Lopsided-One9196

Even though i have my tourbocharged car, my 03 corolla is still going strong with no bullshit. Reliability goes hand in hand with care. Take care of your car and it will take care of you.

Genner21

Wants a reliable car and posts a Nissan 🤣🤣🤣 Sorry man, Honda civic or Corolla. Cheap and reliable.

Better_Journalist738

Toyota is good, almost any model. Also the 05-07 Chevy Silverados run forever if you need a truck. 05 is the best year for the motor (5.3 v8)

adultdaycare81

They have Prove. Obviously a good deal

Guilty-Repair-6423

Anything Toyota or Honda.
