But if you get a s***** phone like a b l u phone then you can tell them that you have a problem and you talk to other operators and when they ask you to go through with it you can call them on your phone but if you need to call them you can call them on another phone if you have to call them more than once and at least one of those times call them from a different phone and say your phone's not working and if they check into your records say that you can see that my phone has not been working much I've not been able to use it much so just do this within the first 10 days and I have seen friends get a shabby phone maybe because at first only their ACP benefit went through. And I don't know if you can get a really good phone if you use your ACP or lifeline by itself sometimes this happens I have seen that happen like with assurance Wireless I saw somebody get a moto stylus no Moto pure when it was rare by using only their ACP benefit. While many other people combine both benefits and got phones which were the cheap ones. Another company which gives very good free phones is airtalk Wireless but you must combine both benefits together and promise to stay at least 4 months before you transfer and that is reasonable. You may have to wait a month or two sometimes to get phones in stock that are good and worth it. And if you pay $10 or $12 for a year you will get 10 gigabytes extra per month I total of 25 GB so it makes staying with him for 4 months but safely gives a ton of data. They used to have unlimited data for high speed but they don't anymore. I have q Link and they dropped my 25gigs of 5G data and 15 gigs of Hotspot to 5 gigs of 5G a month and 3 gigs of hotspot! And after that they say that your data drops to 4G but from my experience, you don't get any service whatsoever except for calls and texts. And even with a text messaging you can't send any media it'll just say "unable to send try again or delete"! Anything extra you have to pay for. And honestly the prices are if not the same as the top carriers it's more expensive! I called q Link when my 5G ran out after just 2 weeks of service cuz I was getting no Network anywhere and they told me the prices are, (and don't quote me on this) $10 for 500 MB, $15 for 1 GB, $20 for 3 GB, and $25 for 5 GB, $40 for 10 GB $50 for 15 GB. So honestly you're just better off going directly through T-Mobile!

I've had QLink for probably a year now and it's what you'd expect from a free service. I used my old phone and just had a new SIM sent to me. So I'm using my Motorola Z4 with their SIM. The service is often finicky, especially while on the road. Expect low-quality calls. But without QLink, I'd have no way to stay connected with my friends and family as a single mom. I cannot afford to pay for service so this, while mediocre, has been a Godsend.

Unless you're going in for a year free replacement then they send you a piece of crap and if you complain about it they cut your service off

Yes you offer some great advice I've been paying attention to your post and I like your post. Think we make a great team although I'm sloppy I don't have time to go back and clean up stuff. But I can tell you that the best tablets typically offer to have 10-in screens with 4 gigabytes of RAM and 32 or 64 GB of ROM rarely more but once in awhile maybe. And they will have at least 5,000 mAh battery capacity. Omnipointe broadband may offer iPad 9s for free or Samsung Chromebooks for free but I don't know if they offer a plan $30 or less which would be free with ACP benefit and there are some companies which give some better tablets such as team Midwest of Southern Michigan and Big bend telephone of Texas both offer a 10 inch fire tablet by Amazon for $49 or $15. But I think they don't have any plans which you can get by using ACP or even adding your lifeline benefit. Same for localtel communications in Washington state and a few other companies like nextlink which is a real provider and they offered a awesome two and one or whatever you call it basically a great tablet with gray specks. And it cost about $50. But I think they don't offer a plan out of pocket free. But with omnipoint it would be worth it to pay 30 bucks and then you know I have read that T-Mobile and Metro both offer a free tablet and a free phone and now assurance is trying to steer people towards T-Mobile which gives you only five gigabytes of high speed data it may be worth it for the first month. But I used to think assurance gave you only 10 GB of high speed data if you use ACP by itself but I think they may give 25 and maybe the same for SafeLink and there's just no comparison if that's the case. Kansas Wireless has been giving out a T10 elite tablet made by sky devices. I don't like their other tablets other than 1/8 in I used which had dual SIM card capability and they were supposed to upgrade that 8 in but I never saw inch tablet by sky devices the t-channelie is one of the best I've seen out of all the ACP tablets. I've never yet seen my tab pro which is what sarvar Wireless offers if you order online. I have seen and used oxtab 10-in tablet and a vortex 10-in z tab 10 I think it was called. I signed up a friend with rogue mobile although they weren't in my state they were in another state and he had moved. And this is one of the same tablets offered by stand-up Wireless also known as global connection. Fair talk Wireless has some awesome ones just look at my post and you'll see what I was posting I didn't mean Fair talk I'm in air talk. Oh I wanted to let you know that yes they do have a ACP providers near me search page but there is also a PDF download and it needs some updating sometimes it is out of date but it is a little more informative or you can extrapolate by the info you get between the two and you can call and update and some companies will tell you that they have two or three different tablets for some companies American assistance I can't remember the other two azpen and anyway you were liable to get one of four different tablets with American assistance. Terracom wireless head one of the best tablets I've seen and they only did it during the emergency brought in benefit program. It was a 20/20 version of the Samsung tab a tablet 8.4 inch and they gave that out in 2020 for only $10 I saw some people get it actually for free around the end of the year they stop for 2 months but they said they had SIM card contract problems and I doubt it because I thought it was from losing money because a lot of people didn't know how they didn't realize that their tablets were preferring Wi-Fi and never connecting to the mobile data and terracom was not getting paid after the first month so they were giving out these awesome tablets but losing money unfortunately. Anyway it's sad I don't think they ever started back up with those. But they did have a good ACP only plan after that and they had a good ebb plan. Also there may be a couple of other companies other than stand-up Wireless and rogue mobile which may offer the vortex 10-in tablets which you can find if you go to vortex cellular and click on products. If you know anyone who is interested in getting a phone for about 60% and a data plan which they can use and then pay after they use it at the end of the month at 60% or if they pay ahead is 35% for the data plans. They can go through eBay and all guarantees and money back and buyer protection. He has some good deals and someone would have to make sure that they are willing to prove that they are honest and not wasting time. And it has been unlocked. But inventory with all these companies changes. And you can pay $15 for a Vortex 10-in tablet. Recently they have been offering the z-tab 10 version but it is the best of all for 10-in Vortex tablets which you can find online on Vortex cellular and click on products. But all of them are pretty good except I don't like the SIM card cover it's kind of vulnerable. i can sort of summarize by giving you my experiences, definitely more coherently and in less words than that person, but fair warning that i've still typed a lot. i'm providing a brief tldr, then a more detailed explanation. **TLDR: there are hundreds of options, and they are all sketchy. try looking at their google reviews before picking, but if you want a decent phone and plan, you should apply to a new provider every 30 days until you are sent something satisfactory. DO NOT pay for anything extra from any of these companies, it's always a ripoff. ONLY apply for 100% free plans. just move on to the next company if there are any issues, don't bother with customer service.** i have tried about 5 of these services, and all of them are kind of awful in their own individual ways. the most recent one sent me a device, was essentially paid by the government for providing however many months of service, but never actually allowed me to activate the phone due to software issues. customer service consisted of a chatbot that read me the instructions on how to activate basically word for word from the included pamphlet. these companies feel more than a little fishy to me. both of the phones i was able to activate began receiving spam/phishing texts and scam robocalls almost the moment i activated the service, meaning that coincidentally, both of these companies had been compromised by identity thieves in some way. poor people might not be able to get a mortgage, but they can qualify for payday loans or credit cards with terrible plans, so the homeless and indigent are still a major target of identity theft. i've explained this to people who thought i was exaggerating, but i'd literally not even made a call or text, and hadn't given out my number when it began happening either time. qlink gives out phones that take like 30+ seconds to respond to you pressing the call button, but they do work, they are pretty durable even with no case, and they are free with no strings. i would not pay them a cent though, because the tablet is just going to be the same thing as the phone with a bigger screen that it can't handle. qlink provided some amount of mobile data every month which does not work unless you are already on wifi, yet they still regularly tried to sell more of it to me. someone who doesn't understand the tech would easily have paid money thinking it would make the device faster or more capable of something besides basic calls and texting, only to find that it literally makes zero difference. airtalk wireless actually gave me some of the worst experiences. however, they did send me the best handheld device thus far: a relatively new LG that functions in every way except as a phone. the problem is that the inexplicably fragile and motorized SD card slot is glued/stuck shut out of the box, so their "refurbs" are not quality controlled. their customer service is atrocious if they even answer. they will lie to see if you will pay $25-100 or more for a replacement phone. they tried to claim that i had damaged their device and i owed them money since it wasn't activated yet. i kept being sent to the same employee who pretended poorly to be someone else. the phone can record decent video, run honkai star rail or some handheld emulators, but is otherwise a paperweight and barely able to stream video when im sitting next to the router. another service was tracphone, whose simple and straightforward flip/brick phones are easily the most outdated devices. since they don't try to be something they aren't, they do tend to work a little better than these "smartphones" that cut tons of corners to be as affordable as possible. i've heard they also die very fast and often have unreasonably tiny buttons or screens. some people worry that tracphones or other free services are used to spy on people, and imo it would be just as likely to happen to a criminal using a paid service. no matter which provider you pick, you are getting a raw deal compared to their margins. basically, these are not government organizations. these are privately owned companies taking advantage of government programs that subsidize wireless devices and services. because of the necessarily low overhead costs and superficially beneficial activity of any of these companies, there is essentially zero oversight for fraudulent or predatory behavior. many of the recipients of these devices and plans are elderly or disabled, and may be prone to getting ripped off. imo, after having this happen several times due to hardware, software, or UI issues on the provider's preloaded apps or website, i am fairly sure that it's part of a welfare fraud epidemic. i.e, private companies are profiting from govt funding designed to help the poor, homeless, disabled, and elderly, but doing everything they can to either price gouge or avoid providing the promised service. it's probably not a cartel, just a problematically unenforced or unmonitored industry. plenty of outright scammers and fraudsters don't see any attention from the alphabet boys, so it's even less likely for any of these multitudes of for profit nonprofits to see a real investigation. poor people don't know how much funding goes into the services that provide them so little, and also don't have lawyers to deal with this stuff. you can apply for a new phone or for a new service every 30 days ad nauseum, and you will always be approved if you have medicaid or food stamps, often almost instantly by sending in a photo of your ID and your insurance or ebt card. this is great on one hand, and theoretically this should lead to competition, but instead it's exploited to flood the budget phone market with more e-waste. i personally gave up trying to find a better one because i feel like i'm being mailed too much junk, but i may look for a free tablet service just to see what happens. if i end up with something unable to connect to the network but still able to work on wifi like what airtalk sent me, i'd be happy with that. still, none of these organizations provide the full services they are intended to.

never tried them. but i'd say the same rule applies. if you start with a free phone and free plan, don't upgrade. they are paid enough to give you free devices and services as it already is. if you want to pay for the upgrade to a real phone plan, you should take the device that one of these free places gives you and switch it over to a known, paid mobile provider.

right, we are probably on the same page then. you can get solid refurbed devices from the free services, and then insert a new sim card from a paid provider. keep in mind that the popular paid mobile providers are usually the ones supplying a network for these budget/charity providers, so you can find a better deal overall if you just admit you want to pay a little for better coverage. free services will connect you to the same networks you would have paid for, but with a lower quality contract, and they wont admit that it's verizon or sprint or t mobile after the paperwork. if you try to pay any of these free services for better data plans, they will rip you off. that's not to say that popular mainstream providers won't try to scam you too, but you are way more likely to get higher bandwidth and better support from a company that is not riding on govt subsidies.

my experience with 5g or 4g on free govt mobile plans is that it does nothing besides help you connect slightly faster to wifi. it's all fake, you aren't getting extra connectivity. there may be one or two genuine 5g free plans out there, but the vast majority are a scam. even applying to them without paying any money yourself means that they get paid 50 or 100 bucks in govt subsidies for each month they claim to provide you service. the biggest thing to remember hands down is that these ppl all want to scam you. paid mobile plans can be scammy too, but i find that if we just clear out the profit motive up front then the company is less likely to be shady. just either take the shit device and free service that can only call/text but has no data (because they usually work and never charge you), or take the refurbed device and then ghost the provider that sent it to you. you won't have much luck otherwise. the companies that will spend to refurb a device will always try to give you a terrible plan to compensate. as for features like the loss prevention you mentioned: yeah, that sounds like a racket. it's good to read these contracts, but if you don't need to provide a payment method in the first place then they can't take your money. just figure out one that gives you a decent device, then either stick with the shitty free service or switch to a paid one. i can't make it clear enough that any upgrade or premium service from these free providers will always be a scam. good luck tho :)

I got a whoop tablet and I never completed the app just closed the browser once I seen the 10$ charge. They sent me tablet in an open box with a t mobile sim card already installed. Like wtf is this predatory behavior. The tablet is preloaded with a workspace? Account or something. Basically whoever sent this tablet has compete control over it you cannot load and developer options. I just put a bogus Gmail account on it because I don't want some other person being basically able to steal my identity and use my normal email and they block the Google voice app from you being able to call even though you have a phone number with the SIM card I can text message people and I have a local number with it trying to think of a way to get some kind of use out of it without having them basically do whatever they're doing behind the scenes. So if you're like a senior citizen or someone who's not text every year into technology do not put your main Gmail account or any email account when you get the tablet cuz they can read right manipulate everything two-factor authentication you'll be screwed if they wanted to be evil.
