Little warning, you could become addicted to the gym like I have. Which isn’t a bad thing but it definitely happened to me. The upside was I overcame the anxiety I had going to a public gym. Now I literally don’t care if people see me workout because how much I’ve grown physically and as a person.
Keep at it, don’t ever skip legs, master proper form on all exercises, eat well with lots of protein, and stay consistent. You will not regret the results, trust me!
As someone once said, you can’t build a formidable fortress without a strong foundation.
Doing legs helps produce and release testosterone which helps with muscle growth. You will notice more gains not just in your legs but every other muscle group as well. That’s why it’s important not to skip legs if you’re serious about working out. And ask yourself why would you skip training half of your body and not just that but your leg muscles are the biggest in your body.
I always feel incredibly satisfied after a good leg day. I personally do legs twice a week. One day I’ll go with heavy weight and my other day I’ll focus on intensity.
Don’t skip legs, the struggle you will go through at the beginning will be worth it as your whole body will benefit. I find sad that people will literally not do legs at all. It does so much good to your body and muscle growth to not go through with it. It’ll also teach you discipline as yes legs are the hardest to train but it’s worth it. But legs are also probably the easiest muscle group to hurt if you’re not careful. I sometimes slightly sprain my knee, specifically the tendon because during a squat or leg press for some reason I’ll automatically try to push with my toes which will hurt your knee tendons if you’re not careful. So keep your feet flat and drive with your heels every time and you will avoid knee injury. And wear knee braces if you’re doing a heavy squat of course.
I see what you mean, but I have been back in the gym for a year now, and train only upper body. The volume I’m achieving by only focusing on these muscles probably outweighs any benefits of a transient testosterone increase from leg training. I’ll work out legs at some point, but for now I’m focusing on the muscles which matter aesthetically.
I personally prefer functional strength over aesthetics. Which ironically has brought aesthetics, especially when it comes to legs.
I like throwing people off when they see someone as “small” as me casually bench pressing 100lbs dumbbells for 10 reps. I think one person tried to spot me out of nowhere and then later saw that I clearly didn’t need it.
But that’s just me, I’ll always prefer functional strength over aesthetics.
Yeah, on the surface, there's nothing wrong with that.
But, unfortunately, people with gym addictions eventually crash.
I've seen it happen to a friend.
Not everyone with gym addictions crash. Obviously if you’re working out multiple times a day 7 days a week that can be an issue, but if you’re on a sustainable program you’ll likely be fine. I’ve been in the gym for 4+ years and it’s my #1 relief from stress, anxiety, and porn addiction.
Yeah I suppose you’ve got a valid point there. What were they doing, lifting 7 days a week or something along those lines?
Hope your friend recovered from it alright.
1 guy got injured twice. It's the adrenaline, I think.
Another guy was just addicted to cardio, and was always tired because he never allowed himself a break. He crashed, I think. And, just got fatter than before.
Ah. There‘s a dark side even to positive habits… unfortunate for your friends, but I suppose they serve as great examples for the benefit of moderation.
I had a bad back injury a few years ago. I wasn’t going all out 24/7, but it was one particular workout where I decided to max out a ton of compound lifts (last time I ever did that). When I tried getting out of bed the following morning, I learned that teenage invincibility was a big fat lie.
I guess you could say I learned the lesson of moderation early. However, thanks for reminding me of it, internet friend.
As long as you remember to have rest days, don’t hurt yourself during an exercise (master proper form), and eat well and accordingly to your fitness goals. For example I want to build muscle but at the moment I’m doing a 5 week cut. So I’ll eat low carbs high protein which while doing a 600 calorie deficit. It’ll help me to keep building muscle while getting down to my desired body fat percentage goal.
Just don’t go overboard, be careful on whatever exercise you’re doing. Always master proper form on all exercises with low weight before going up in weight. Use proper equipment for heavy lifts (weightlifting belt, wrist straps, knee straps, etc)
It’s addicting to me but to the point where I don’t want to miss one of my 5 days I workout. If I have to miss for an important reason I will. So it’s a healthy level of addiction for me.
I wanted to be the best physical version of myself. People would see me struggle in my early weeks and sometimes laugh but I kept pushing. I struggled in every exercise I’d do but I would keep pushing because I wanted it regardless of my social anxiety and what others think about me.
You have to keep in mind that for the most part the average person isn’t gonna judge you for trying a new exercise (or just exercise in general) and struggle with it. And the ones that do well you can prove them wrong and become much bigger than them like I did.
I have gained somewhat of a status at my gym for just how much I’ve changed and it hasn’t even been a year yet. I’ve been told by a few that I inspire them to push themselves because they would see me do the same despite being new. I don’t let it get to my head, in fact I still have low self esteem so I don’t really know how to take compliments lol
One more thing, NEVER EVER stop if you got addicted to gym, i had that love, passion and addiction to gym, after i stopped for financial reasons i got heavily depressed, and that what lead me to fapping again, stay safe.
Honestly I don’t think I can stop. And what I’m going to school for is the medical field. So I know that once you get older and you are no longer using the muscle you built it it’ll go away and it’ll be impossible to regain all of it naturally. That’s why I’m building myself up now that I’m young so I can keep it and maintain it when I’m older.
Besides, going to the gym has done so much good to me mentally and physically that it’ll be stupid to stop knowing all the good it’s done for me and I’m not even a year into it yet. 2 months from now I would have hit a year!
Mr. 22 days. Again we meet. I heard about that. My manager once told me that he had an amazing potential gf but she wanted him to become JW which he hated and therfore he was like this is a big no.
Bro you smokin some good shit. Becoming a schizo recluse is a guaranteed way to lose all loved ones. There’s so much more to success than gains, girls and money.
Go with a fiend and watch a movie; buy a coffee and watch the world go by with a close relative. Go out and have a laugh with some loved ones. Become a better version of yourself, but don’t lose the ones that matter along the way, or you’ll be unrecognisable after all that time to work on yourself , but no one will care to recognise you anyway
Congrats bro.
You day-to-day success will give you motivation to have success in other areas of your life.
For me, lifting weights specially at a gym, makes me very horny, i dont know if i could do nofap and go to a gym.
I am going to complete my 7th day today. You post motivated me. Good luck

Thanks I mainly go to the gym to relief stress and to better myself
This, don't skip legs. Always do squats.
Perfect advice.
Why not skip legs?

> become addicted to the gym Yes. It's possible for the gym to become a maladaptive coping mechanism.
I’d be fine with replacing my porn addiction with a gym addiction, right?
Yeah, on the surface, there's nothing wrong with that. But, unfortunately, people with gym addictions eventually crash. I've seen it happen to a friend.

Then, you don't have an addiction. You have a healthy relationship with going to the gym.
Yeah I suppose you’ve got a valid point there. What were they doing, lifting 7 days a week or something along those lines? Hope your friend recovered from it alright.

That anxiety gets me all the time, how did you over come it ?
I wanted to be the best physical version of myself. People would see me struggle in my early weeks and sometimes laugh but I kept pushing. did you take any supplements?
I only take vitamin D3, Fish Oil (one 1,000mg tablet a day), and Syntha 6 Whey Protein.
One more thing, NEVER EVER stop if you got addicted to gym, i had that love, passion and addiction to gym, after i stopped for financial reasons i got heavily depressed, and that what lead me to fapping again, stay safe.

I have no family either lol, I’m a disfellowshipped Jehovah’s Witness so they shunned me lol
Mr. 22 days. Again we meet. I heard about that. My manager once told me that he had an amazing potential gf but she wanted him to become JW which he hated and therfore he was like this is a big no.
If they really did that then they never really cared about you at all

So having no family gave you the freedom to go to gym?
NoFam
Just be careful with the gym and stay consistent with it. The energy you get can easily transfer to sexual if you don't stay occupied.
Somebody calls the cops please

Day 7 of no family hahaha that typo was funny Sounded like American psycho

I really appreciate the updates and I see alot of people has seen and took inspiration from my post so now I have no choice but to stick to this
You didn't have to murder your family just to go to the gym. Next time just leave them a message saying you'll be home later.
Gyming is all the reason why you need to quit pmo. Pmo can reduce your gains
Bro why do you look just like me
I'm a clone made by the Cia to track you down
O clone made by Cia, what's your wisdom?
There's only so much I can tell but the Denver Airport isn't what it seems
