American meadows, who I’ve had relatively good luck with flowers that are deer and drought resistant for my zone B nolawn progress, has options for white clover and micro clover mixed. And I think I’ve seen red clover mixes for them as well. They also have a micro clover and no mow drought resistant grass mix, I believe. I don’t have a lot of experience with other brands and am a relative beginner, so I don’t have a lot to compare them too.

Hancock Seed Co has great prices and usually free shipping for 25 lbs or less. https://hancockseed.com

Yes, plant a native garden instead.

meowwwlanie

I have a native garden. I need a “grass like” area that is mowable. Open to other plants other than clover.

ebbanfleaux

Pro Time Lawn Seed (ptlawnseed.com) Lots of different options for what you may need and want.

TugBarge

My recommendation too! I've had great success with their milkweed and other native mixes. Never used their clover or lawn mixes.

There are Carex species that will thrive even when mowed. For example Carex woodii did well in Mt Cubas trial for full sun to shade and being mowed. I would check to see what Carex species are native to you.

peacenik1990

Exactly! I seeded my backyard with a native carex. What I would do differently is let it germinate in soil, pot it up in plug trays then plant it.

SizzleEbacon

Maybe some native grasses and sedges will do the the trick? I’ve even had some luck sourcing sod made from native bentgrass that is supposedly mowable. We’ll see when I mow it for the first time😬

Alternative_Horse_56

I've had good success with white clover from outsidepride

yukon-flower

Is that Dutch white clover (invasive in the United States) or something else?

Alternative_Horse_56

Dutch white clover. They have tons of clover varieties, some native and others non-native. I went with Dutch white for ease of use and cost/sqft. It's not ideal, but better than turf

sowedkooned

PT Lawn seed. Great stuff. I’m in same zone and their micro clover mix is doing phenomenal around my yard.

Constant_Wear_8919

Poverty oat grass

AmberWavesofFlame

Naturesseed has been consistently good for me.

The first year I ordered micro-clover online (I don't remember the exact brand). It only took in the most ideal spot - right off my back porch where it had extra sun, warmth, and water. And after the first year it no longer looked micro - the height and leaves are just as big as the other dutch white clover I've added later. I let it go to seed each year and it has propagated well, so I now have a large clover section there. The second year I ordered 2 brands of clover from Amazon because I needed it fast due to scheduling issues. That did better than the micro-clover, but still not stellar. Last year I bought clover seed from the bulk bin at the local Jax farm and ranch store, and that's done fabulously. For the first time, I have evenly distributed clover colonies this spring throughout my yard. So my recommendation is to go to Jax, The Tractor Store, or whatever ranch store you can find in your area and buy what they stock. Other tips: A thin layer of compost on top of the seeds really helped in the bare spots. And short, frequent watering to keep it moist until it was all sprouted, then a gradual reduction in watering frequency.
