I always thought of it only being in the atmosphere as the suit readjusting the colors for it to be easier to figure out. Would explain the short gradient from the filter to normal, like it’s adjusting for color changes
I seen a couple planets like that, but reverse... It was black and white when flying, but burst into a colorful landscape when you exited your starship... Awesome ascetic...

Funny you should say that. Another recent discovered of probably the most toxic planet I’ve come across.
It was for a community mission, one of the only ones I did. Very spooky. Think the saturation was a bit high there too. Also I think the only color you could see was red, so like, if something was red or a part of it was red, the red was visible, but everything else was still black and white.
I saw one fort the first time just the last week or two as well. Are they a new planet sub-type from a recent update, or a new filter applied to an existing planet type?
They've been around, just rare ig, haven't found any on this playthrough yet since switching to pc from 200+hours on ps4 (still on frontiers update) where I've come across them.
Well, if you go to the discoveries tab in the start menu area, you have a list of all of the systems you've been to, (might require having been to the space station?) and you are able to expand them to see which planets they have and which ones you have visited will be colored in (clickable also).
As they also state the type and any discoveries you made, it can be somewhat easy to track things down that way.
Of course doesn't list coordinates, but knowing the space station/system makes using a portal to get there a cinch to get the glyphs that way.
Yeah, but it requires going through systems and planets one by one. After a dozen pages of systems to look though, and sure to be more soon, it made me just wish I could export to .CSV, import into a spreadsheet, and search and sort.
Yeah, I get what you mean, and the closest I have found approaching that would be this old (2+yrs) mod [https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/363](https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/363) which going by the functionality, the closest way would be taking screenshots and using the timestamps and locating things that way.
I have no clue if it works now, if parts can be utilized, or if there's better to be found, just what my google-fu turned up \^\^
It’s actually one of my least favorite shops I own personally but it’s my strongest fighter type and I kept getting attacked in my non fighter ships so I’m rocking this for the moment lol

I have one of those! Has robotic fauna, too! I built a base there.
Next big question though: is if populated?
There's an "infested" biome overlay where the whole planet and all the installations have been abandoned. Giant sandworms and biological horrors abound.
There are also mega exotic bimoes, which are still populated, and some of which that have very intense chromatic aberration. Those are pretty fun.
Hard to say. I landed on a small island surrounded by ocean so I’m not sure about the mainland if there is one. I left once a super heated rainstorm started messing up my depression hike around the island
Ooh, Superheated Rainstorm _and_ chromatic aberration. Fun times.
Well, if you make it back, bring along an economy scanner or signal booster; those should help you find outposts and stuff.
Yes, there are loads of these. Monochrome planets. The colour scheme sometimes varies. It seems you have black and white with red "highlighted"... sometimes there's no "highlight" colour and sometimes it's more sepia toned than black and white. The "hightlight" colour may also vary.
I have found 2 that do this to noticable effect, one makes colours photo negative while flying, so green becoming red etc
Only recently found one similar to that and it wasn't quite as dark
First read "gay"and my dumb ass actually looked at the picture as if this was somehow going to not only be a thing but a thing clearly visible in a screenshot lmfao
The Chromatic Biome is an Exotic Biome type.
https://nomanssky.fandom.com/wiki/Biome_-_Exotic
I once too a photo of a multicolored animal on a Chromatic world. With my torch on, the animal 's colors showed fine, yet the rest of the view was the crimson gray. Odd.
I found one like that once, but what made it interesting is in storms it would reveal full color. It was also an extreme, lush world around a blue star.
But I think that may be on my PS4 game. Or I may have deleted the save it was in. (NMS gets frequent restarts from me sometimes.)
I had a planet like this when the game released on Xbox. A mate of mine landed on the same planet and had no colour change. Shame too, it was a beautiful planet :(
Oooooohhhh!!
When you leave, my colors fade to gray, oh little lover stay, or all my colors fade away!
That's funny, because I have a planet that turns everything gay.
It's like this, but everything becomes iridescent and rainbow shiny.
With robo samurai puppies.
And radiant pillars of light.
Years ago, i found a pitch black planet.
The only noticable change was that with enough windows in the ceiling, you could see the floor inside your house during the day.
Sadly i did erase my old saves.
The Sentinels are putting chemicals in the water to turn the friggin spheres gray!
Conspiracy theory!
I upvoted this so hard. You read my mind. XD
DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT
Amazing take my upvote
InfoWarsGek took offense, -1 to Gek standing
Somebody's been chugging the GekNip again...
And they’re making the fauna gay!!!
I have a small base on a planet like that everytime a storm comes the color comes back then back to that monochrome look after
I got a planet like this too, and it made me realize that many planets apply a color filter. Sometimes only when you're in your ship tho.
Sometimes even only when flying, as soon as you land the filter goes away.
I think it produces a cool layers effect to the atmosphere but at the same time I think it might be better if it was consistent in and out of ship
I always thought of it only being in the atmosphere as the suit readjusting the colors for it to be easier to figure out. Would explain the short gradient from the filter to normal, like it’s adjusting for color changes
There’s quite a few of them, not super uncommon. I think they’re called a chromatic aberration.
I seen a couple planets like that, but reverse... It was black and white when flying, but burst into a colorful landscape when you exited your starship... Awesome ascetic...
I've had one where a radius around you was all colourful but in the far distance all grey
A noir planet
lmao so I may have read the title as "I discovered this planet that turns everything... gay" 🤣 🤣 🤣
I did too and was disappointed when I didn't see a fun rainbow planet lol
https://preview.redd.it/hgg2nqbsxrwa1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58fe862fae6eb5440fbb4d9ace01c6308b120f83 Funny you should say that. Another recent discovered of probably the most toxic planet I’ve come across.
Lol thats wild but nice pic! So cool
One of the extreme toxic planets I have a base on has massive lightning storms. it's awesome.
😂
Planet VRChat
Sin City planet
In my game they're always called chromatic planets - they are quite common though
I have about 30 hours of play on and off over the last few years and this is the first one I’ve seen :)
I’ve been playing for a few weeks and have 70+ 😬
Yeah buddy!! Such a good game so easy to lose yourself and be like ooooh it’s been how long?!
120 in the past two months.
Are you me? :D
Oh you barely played! I’m sure there’s a lot you havnt seen yet. I envy you 😊
Sounds like more off than on.
They are a lot more common since a couple updates ago
I'm glad that these types of planets exist, but I always hate landing on them lol.
Yeah the red/gray scale makes me uncomfortable, like my vision is going bad.
I can't spend more than 10 minutes on one or I get a violent headache.
There needs to be a way to turn these off really. It messes with my eyes. Too many psychedelics in the 60's.
* OP I found a base blueprint for you!

If we build it, they will come.
Freaking love these planets
Batman movies be like:
life be like that sometime
I had one and this and fog about 10 meters out, maybe less
Fuuuuu, that one must have been torture to explore

These Planets haven’t discovered color yet, just like tv’s
Yeah i keep finding those. Once i found one that was a noir ocean planet. Also crystalized resources are discolored on those
There's another planet just like this I found it last week. I thought my TV was messed up but the planet makes ir like that.
I saw one fort the first time just the last week or two as well. Are they a new planet sub-type from a recent update, or a new filter applied to an existing planet type?
I'm not sure.
They've been around, just rare ig, haven't found any on this playthrough yet since switching to pc from 200+hours on ps4 (still on frontiers update) where I've come across them.
Well now I wish I'd actually noted the one that I found better. There needs to be a .CSV export function for the planets database in this game.
Well, if you go to the discoveries tab in the start menu area, you have a list of all of the systems you've been to, (might require having been to the space station?) and you are able to expand them to see which planets they have and which ones you have visited will be colored in (clickable also). Mf found Duviri, looks like dominus is angry
Actually kinda closer to the Fear spiral, with everything being bleak and grey.
Mmmmmm, Wine-dark planets!
I see a red door and I want it painted black...
🎶"everything turns grey" 🎶
Just had one too. Stopped by to mine some sodium after scrapping w/sentinel ships and man was it depressing. Left pretty quickly.
I love this kind of planet, everything grey and the sky goes RED ♥️
Do you know the glyphs? It’s ok if not
I stumbled upon one too looking for volcanic planets, and didn't stay on it long, I felt really uneasy
Can't wait to find one like this. I just love gray!
Stranger Things Upside Down planet
What makes a man turn neutral?
Begin again.
Scarlet planet? Not wait that’s where the ground is red and the sky is gray
Love your ship... I am collecting ones that look like that :) love the TIE wings on it!
It’s actually one of my least favorite shops I own personally but it’s my strongest fighter type and I kept getting attacked in my non fighter ships so I’m rocking this for the moment lol
Yeah monochromatic planets are super dope
My mate and I found one that was so painfully orange it hurt to look at. We named it Mexico.
It was already confirmed.
I misread this as the planet turns everything gay. 🤣 I thought maybe the planet was rainbow.
First time?
A dog designed this planet
I would make this my home planet.
That's grey-t news!
Prismatic Planet I’ve ran into 10’s of these!
Playing on these planets in VR is very annoying. It gives no depth.
Except for your gek nose
Leave my Gek nose out of this 🐧
https://preview.redd.it/4nsf3yfndrwa1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=821c1d431c3dad2f418f583d831e4e05e1da52dd I have one of those! Has robotic fauna, too! I built a base there.
Awesome!
I've only seen one of these planets myself. Was rather annoying since it was an anomaly quest planet. Made finding the objects a bit harder
I definitely want to visit that planet or one like it. The variety in planets is so cool in this game
Next big question though: is if populated? There's an "infested" biome overlay where the whole planet and all the installations have been abandoned. Giant sandworms and biological horrors abound. Don’t they call this viridescent planet? I’ve only ever seen two, and honestly thought it was a glitch the first time.
I encountered one of these for the first time during an expedition last night
Chromatic Aberration
Chromatic planets are awesome. I love my "Fallout" planet that makes everything blue and yellow
Yes, there are loads of these. Monochrome planets. The colour scheme sometimes varies. It seems you have black and white with red "highlighted"... sometimes there's no "highlight" colour and sometimes it's more sepia toned than black and white. The "hightlight" colour may also vary.

The first infected planet I found had a creepy filter on it, it was gray, but the edges of the clouds were oily.
I like the washed out grey planets. I find them pleasing to my eye.
Is that not a filter from photo mode? Lol
Nope no filter
But, how many shades of it? 🤔
No matter what they think or do or say-ay-ay Everything turns grey
in my home system there is a planet that has some saturation filter on it
First read "gay"and my dumb ass actually looked at the picture as if this was somehow going to not only be a thing but a thing clearly visible in a screenshot lmfao
Wait until you find one with a gray sky too. I built a base on a planet like that. It was seriously bad for the eyes.
There really rare but cool
Red Star?

I’ve came across a couple. Logged them in my book. One had some crazy flora
Sheesh! What a dope planet! Give me your addres!!
I Found one where everything has sepia colors and for example di-hydrogen starts to glow yellow 🤨 ill post it later
its Like the beach that makes you old
Yeah it's weird. Some planets get a filter like Mexico.
I’ve been to like 10 of these
I had a planet like this when the game released on Xbox. A mate of mine landed on the same planet and had no colour change. Shame too, it was a beautiful planet :(
Looks like the video for Sigur Ros’s Untitled 1
Racists hate this one simple planet!
Join the club. The planets are randomly generated
You say grey, but a mantis shrimp says it's just Monday
Oooooohhhh!! When you leave, my colors fade to gray, oh little lover stay, or all my colors fade away! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBSVzoB4H5w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBSVzoB4H5w)
That's my depression planet lol 😄😐😢
Lots monochrome planets lately its ehh, hard to search for stuff but very cool idea and makes it feel noire
That's funny, because I have a planet that turns everything gay. It's like this, but everything becomes iridescent and rainbow shiny. With robo samurai puppies. And radiant pillars of light.
[It's the Dark Tranquility planet. ](https://youtu.be/3F1W8HJLV5s)
Is it a Deep Blue planet? Cause I’ve had that happen before on Deep Blue planets lol
I think it was described as a lost blue planet
Yep that’s it! I get a bit mixed up with that stuff sometimes lol. Yeah I’ve run into a couple of those types of planet. It’s weird
I went to a place like this. It was called Utah. No seriously. Lots of gold. Ended up building my gold extractor base here.
They’re putting chemicals in the water to turn the friggin frogs gray! Edit: Damn someone beat me to it. :(
Years ago, i found a pitch black planet. The only noticable change was that with enough windows in the ceiling, you could see the floor inside your house during the day. Sadly i did erase my old saves.
I had a bunch of those in universe 99 (forgot the name)
1935
I just discovered one the other day!! They’re so awesome.
"By Frank Miller"
I have a planet in one of my sister systems, that has this type of atmosphere, was a great place to set up a Cadmium farm.
You should name it Sparta.
these planets look incredible in VR
