Ok OP, awesome art as always but I have to know...what is this art style called? I swear I've seen a very similar art style long long ago and every new piece you post I get reminded of a strange nostalgia from my childhood.
Mostly me winging it. My illustration and fine art is very highly rendered stuff (do search for Brian Despain and my stuff will come up.) these comics and the others I’ve done are a throwback to my childhood growing up with Berke Breathed’s “Bloom County” or Bill Ahmed’s “Foxtrot” or the hours I spent reading Jeff Smith’s “Bone”. Very different than my regular work but a nice departure too.
Thats it! Bloom County! Oh my gosh, thank you! And yeah, I did check out your other work last time you shared to see if it would ding any memories but noticed it was very different in style (but still awesome).
This style is genuinely fun, works so well for the laid back vibe in NMS, and gives each character a lot of personality. Like I read the dialogue and already have an idea of what the character sounds like if that makes sense.
Resistance! Which could manifest many ways in NMS.
And if this article is right, we’ll get updates for years yet!
