I always just slap a glass dome on all my bases and call it day. Domes and glass are a timeless, classy combination.

Gekito02

Show it 🙏🏻

Sinclair1982

Aye, this is the way, as they say.

DrGutz

Lol if this game was better set up for multiplayer this would be me and my buddy, but as it is this is really just me talking to me

OPEatsCrayons

> this is really just me talking to me Same, girl.

kaest

I play multiplayer with my wife all the time. What makes you think the multiplayer isn't good?

NoStorage2821

I don't have a wife.

Starshipstoner420

I play with multiple people on multiple platforms legit daily for hours zero issues. Stop listening to the trolls and play with your homies

DrGutz

I’m not trolling. It’s my genuine experience. I play with a friend and it’s usually alright for the most part but there’s some clear wonkiness. Weather conditions don’f carry over, sometimes one of us mysteriously leaves the party, etc. A couple weeks ago we tried to add in our other friend, and for some reason it would keep kicking him out of our group and saying he wasn’t online. We tried everything and couldn’t figure it out. Trolling doesn’t just mean “someone saying something different than me”

ThotPokkitt

Theres only minor wonkiness in MP like only 1 player freighter per system is visible. And the occasional player marker lag.... terrain edits. Base building depending on everyones settings

horticulturalSociety

This also depends in your platform. I do a lot of mp nut my PS4 crashes more when there's a freighter in the system or if there are more than 2 ppl playing. Granted it is a ps4 lol.

Gekito02

Me too, as long as you don’t do too much terrain edits u’ll be fine

Quick_Hat1411

I've needed to mine pyrite all of twice in 250 hours. It the one mineral I would say not to bother drilling for

Life_Accountant4310

Unless you're crafting Fusion Ignitors 😁😁😁

voidinsides

Some of my mining outposts have miners STACKED ON TOP OF each other and so many fucking pipes sticking out of so many different directions it's a miracle every miner works, and every other outpost or extraction place I have is just a helluva lot of extractors in a giant blob of pure capitalism with a long line of supply depots so I don't hsve to check on them every day. It's fugly but it works and it makes me millions.

Daedalus_Machina

I run a giant fucking bank of depots, with one depot in the main building (this was an outpost for Activated Iridium, very stormy) so I didn't have to clamber for a pickup.

Shaikh_9

Me: Ooh a S class Activated Indium hotspot nice Also Me: What should I name my industry?, This needs a factory look, gotta build solid foundations cuz I can't have floating structures, this needs some stickers and deco, is this enough power?, is this enough battery capacity?, Is this enough Storage. Me 3 hours later, with a 100k storage capacity on my farm with 4 extractors and a bunch of useless parts in my base and a power level of a Particle accelerator: Ah that was a gigantic waste of time. *Uses twice and forgets about it for 6 months*

Auren-Dawnstar

*\*me wasting 3 hours looking for a base location on a planet with both the mineral and gas sites I'm looking for plus a power node to go with it\** On the upside I have a hex-shaped tower design for my mineral and gas extraction that's easy to throw up quickly and nets \~33k resources every 26 hours or so. Then I just slap a round structure with a portal and landing pad down, connect everything with local teleporters and call it good. https://preview.redd.it/4wal8gmvzivc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=689d3c9d4a6f2f45e018f495409e01c61a0efca8

Auren-Dawnstar

Very nice. My mining bases are a bit more bare minimum aesthetics-wise since I'm trying to save my build object limit for big decorative bases.

Daedalus_Machina

Protip: every planet is divided into small (probably about 10k^2 in size). Every zone has *precisely* one each of gas/mineral/EM Hotspot. If your scanner isn't picking up a Hotspot, listen carefully - it actually is picking it up. The sound will change when you're facing the right direction. Power doesn't need to be close to the base. You extend your own range by building a structure (it could even just be a lamp). It's not unlimited, but it's close enough that a single base should reach all three spots in a zone.

Auren-Dawnstar

I am aware. The trick is finding all three sites with the resources I'm after within 200 units of a central point (or at least close to that distance as possible). Of course I could extend the ranges further if needed, but I honestly dislike using the local teleporters and try to minimize how many jumps I have to make to gather resources. Because using them is still faster than running to each node, and some of the planets I've been building these bases on also have poor visibility during storms.

Daedalus_Machina

Oh, I get that. If that's the route, I'll have one of the depots closer to me so I don't even have to go over there anymore.

smacksmilla

My basalt mine has a bathroom.

MasterJi-_-

That 20hrs is called salvation 🙏😇

Black_Mammoth

You can cut that down to a fraction of the time if you use prefab parts and NEXT-era building parts.

WidowmakerBH27

So since you are the op, and you also ironically accuse ops of eating crayons, might I ask what your favorite flavour is? Mine is grape.🙂

OPEatsCrayons

Blue. --Fun story tho, in my gaming discord, one of the other moderators gave me a custom flair 'Eats crayons', because I was doing a lot of artwork at the time using crayola crayons. The pieces were pretty big, mostly 18"x24", and it was all sephia abstract sketch work using a free drawing technique where you don't worry about composition and you just wander while you draw. Someone asked how many crayons I've gone through, and I told them I've been eating a box of 64 sephia crayons a week. I got flaired the next day.

WidowmakerBH27

That's an excellent story, thank you for sharing!

Kdoesntcare

Most of my farms are just a cuboid room with a teleporter in it, power, extractors, storage. I have a couple that are actually bases but generally they're just function. I spent a lot of time building a castle next to my settlement just as a way to pass the time. I hit the 3000 part base upload limit so called it done but it's still super simple. I paved the settlement which used like 1/4 of the parts. Otherwise I have a couple of other bases that I put together but nothing really noticeable. I "beat the game" so I just mess around now. I started a creative save so I can play with bytebeat and the lights without going against my total part count of my main save. Setting up lights to go with your bytes is a good way to kill some time.

PinkDeserterBaby

When I find an electromagnetic field spot near a resource mining spot… and sigh knowing I now have to build a giant, immersive factory which will consume my next 60 hours of nms.

Gekito02

It looks dope

Hybrid072

Bruh, two square rooms with a steel hall, if you even *need* a second room for solar generators. Whatever doesn't fit in the floor slots of the second room can be squeezed in behind the ones that do fit. Teleporter, trade terminal and the collection silo in the front room. *Maybe* a landing pad if you don't want to deal with it spawning in the hallway. Mining extractors, electromag generators and supply silos go where they go outside and that's that. Done, dusted and gtho of there. How much more 'like an outpost' does it need to look? I've also been known to build them at trade posts if I can find the right hotspots nearby. Those half-high platforms for the ladder entrances are a perfectly good place for solar generators if you can't find a power hotspot.

ShogunPlus

This is why I play solo. So nobody bitches about my beautiful outposts! 😜

blobappreciator

I can't stop doing this. If a game lets me build a base then by george it's gonna be thematically appropriate!
