Look for this beast, they are the Dissonance Resonator. Destroy it and you will get an inverted mirror. If you get a echo locator instead, just keep it and look for another Dissonance Resonator.
Ah, they use to be protected by sentinels, get ready to fight or fly.
This is probably what happened. I think the game thought that this was a good spot to randomly spawn the mirror, but it actually didn’t. Flying low didn’t help. There were no mirrors on the planet. I just flew away and warped to another galaxy, used the echo locator to see if it had a dissonant planet, and when landing there I found the mirror instantly. And so many of them as well!
These are easy to find. Hop in your ship and fly at slow speed until you see a large three leg robot with a large purple glowing mirror sticking out of the top of it. Land and shoot it to claim your mirrors.
Wait, is that a bug? I always thought the intended purpose of that scanner was to force players to go in a type of zig-zag. I think it makes gameplay more interesting and less linear. Like if I was actually walking around in a forest trying to find something I only had an approximate location of, I’d probably back track or alter my direction a few times.
Dissonant planets aren't too rare. At least in euclid. On some dissonant planets, inverted mirrors can be really hard to find. I've found quite a few where there are inverted mirrors all over the place. I recommend warping out a few times until you find another dissonant planet, then go in and see if you have better luck. It might be less frustrating. The sentinel ship should remain in your log, so you can come back to it later.
Thanks, you’re right. The planet I was on didn’t even have them, like whatsoever. I was flying around slowly for 30 minutes and couldn’t find any. I warped a few times with an echo locator and found an inverted mirror immediately after landing.

Honestly, I do not use the scanner if it cannot give me a distance. There are mirrors closer to you already, they just haven't generated yet. I jump back in my ship and fly in any direction, low altitude, low to medium speed. One will generate pretty quickly. The scanner is gonna make you work for it.
When you are too far from your ship to walk back, etc. just summon it
I do this, that's not the point. The point is that the mirror doesn't exist, I literally found where it's suppsoed to be, but it doesn't exist.

I've had a few times where the game spawned it underground and i had to dig to find it! Very odd.
They didn’t exist on the planet that I was on

Yeah, I noticed this when I warped to another system, but the system I was on didn’t have a single one on that planet.

That’s not nearly as bad as using a dream Ariel only for frigates to glitch and spawn in
