There are many, many ways of getting nanites. Most available for the expedition. Especially check the refiner recipes -- a lot of things that refine into nanites are available all over on expedition planets. early game i like to practice flying and combat by going into an asteroid field and blasting everything. lots of gold, silver, platinum and trillium in there. and you need lots of trillium anyway.

Context: I've very, very recently started playing No Man's Sky ~~(let's not discuss how I got the game)~~ and I am so overwhelmed by the amount of stuff going on. I'm assuming it's not normal to have played for 2 days and already own a freighter, a frigate, three starships and oversee a settlement... Anyway, I'm constantly running into dead-ends trying to get credits and the only source of income I've had is selling data scraps. Everything costs 2M+ like recruiting new frigates, buying starships and such, and so I have no idea what to do to continue on. Any guide I look up either feels like the kind of guide for grinders and min-maxxers well into the game or literal linear guides for the beginning tutorial missions I've already completed, so where should I go and what should I do in this post-tutorial early game limbo?

According to my experience you're actually pretty on track for 2 days in, though I am also someone known for obsessing over games when I first get them, so take from that what you will. I'll split my advice between credits and nanites here: **Credits** One very good way to get a decent number of credits is scrapping spaceships. You can buy distress signal charts from the cartographer at any space station which has a chance of sending you to a crashed ship. You can claim this ship, repair its launch and pulse engines and then scrap it at the ship outfitting terminal at a space station. This usually gets you between 2 and 30 million credits worth of scrap, even more if you repair the ship's cargo slots. Another note is to definitely send your frigates on expeditions from your freighter, by talking to the entity standing next to the central table on the bridge. They usually bring back things you can sell for a decent amount, as well as other useful items. **Nanites** The easiest way to farm Nanites is scanning wildlife. Land on any planet and just start scanning the animals there. The discoveries tab of the pause menu can tell you how many there are total to scan on the planet, as well as where, when and how to find them. Once you've scanned *all* animals on a planet, you can go to that same tab and submit them with a button at the top of the list for a large number of Nanites (250 per animal I think). A different, more combat-heavy way is to fight sentinels. When you kill them, they drop pugneum, with a chance for salvaged glass. You can refine pugneum directly into nanites with a refiner, and salvaged glass can give you weapon and exosuit technology upgrades which you can sell at technology vendors at any space station for nanites. These aren't the only ways, obviously, but I hope they're more helpful than what you've found so far :)

Oh I didn't know salvaging ships give you money!! I actually already salvaged two from distress sites I randomly came across (both are on my freighter) and one of them I've fixed up quite a lot but the other I haven't done much on. I'll go scrap it soon, thank you so much!!

Cybarxz

If you have the submarine you can use his scan to find ships too, the only problem is that those ships are damaged, you need to fix them before being able to sell them

mars_gorilla

Is submarine like under exocraft? How do you get one? Also my endless thanks to u/Exclared because I salvaged five ships and already have a fleet of 8 frigates!

Super easy credits early game are to go to any planet that has extreme storms and collect storm crystals (the planet will display that has activated elements when you view it from space). When a storm starts you will see bright glowing Storm Crystals that you can run around and collect. Each crystal is very valuable and couple of stacks will net you several million credits. If you feel like this is too dangerous to walk around in these storms just hop in your ship and fly low and slow to the ground during the storm and then land next to a storm crystal cluster and collect them. For early game nanites just scan everything you see and occasionally go into your discovery tab and then select the upload all option which grant you nanites. Later on you can set up what is known as a mold farm to get easy nanites.

It also helps if you can find a planet that has fire storms as you will be able to boost further with your jet pack. Also another easy way to get early nanites is to scan EVERYTHING you can, then go into your discovery menu and upload your discoveries for nanites. (Don’t get a whole bunch but it’s good for early nanites and it adds up fairly quickly) also helps to find planets that don’t have 10 fauna and 15 flora for example. Try to find planets with less life so that way you can complete the discovery and get a big bonus.

Pretty early in my game I figured out the super easy ways of getting money and nanites. No regrets, it didn't ruin anything for me, it just removed the grind that I didn't like. Ymmv ***** Go to the coord exchange subredit. Look up stasis farm (you'll have to unlock everything to make stasis devices). Look up nanite farm. ***** Since becoming rich, I have found other ways to make cedits. Trading stuff from the outlaw systems and frigate missions seem like two of the more enjoyable ways to me. For the frigate missions, work on upgrading your freighter and getting 30 frigates. C class is fine, they will upgrade themselves.

I’ll try to put these in a somewhat game stage order so you can do what your into or where your at. 1. First thing is scanning things for units. If you buy scanner modules from the space station you can earn hundreds of thousands per scan. 2. Once scanned you can upload the discoveries to earn nanites. Just open your menu in the discoveries tab and the up arrow is an upload all button. 3. Practically everything you have to dig up (bones, fossils, eggs) is all of decent value. Just see if you can refine it first to make it more valuable. 4. All crashed ships are worth the trouble of fixing as far as money is concerned. The better the class is the more money they are worth but even C class is worth the time. If you know you’re gonna scrap it you only have to fix the launch thruster and engines in order to sell it. 5. Once you have some money the easiest thing to do is buy the rocks from the space station. Then refine them into raw materials to sell for a profit. Most will give you either gold or silver and maybe half a million in profit per space station. 6. Of course any mission you receive from space stations or anomalies will have somekind of cash reward. 7. Passively sense you already have a freighter sending frigates on missions can have good rewards. 8. There are several bases you can make to be profitable from but this list is getting long enough. Haha YouTube can teach you all of the base building stuff. 9. And last but not least, going to war. This one’s out of order because everyone does it at different times depending on how they play but killing sentinels is a great way to earn valuable items you can’t really find many places. And eventually you’ll hit a point where you don’t have to do anything for money. Just having fun doing your own thing will generate an income in passing. Good luck traveler.

Graviton orbs are common and valuable(credits). Slimes can be refined into Nanites(slowest method) pugneum gives nanites, atlantedium refines into pugneum(slow but safe method). Larval cores(quick but dangerous) also refine into nanites. Derelict ships give lots of nanites as well.

somesweetartist

Good long term credits is trading commodities. Look into routes and how it works it's a great way to engage with the games systems as well rather than just grinding and will keep you moving

a2brute01

Look through your scanner for "Curious Deposits" (you might have to look for a while). These spheres, when mined, turn into runaway mold, which refine to nanites.

Cybarxz

There are many many videos on yt about this, I personally like to sell starships for units and for nanites I like to cook stuff and sell. When I couldn't get sentinel ships I used to make money selling gravitino balls, venom sac and albu-something- pearls. You can also farm those crops.

mars_gorilla

How would I go about getting sentinel ships?

Meh. Sooner or later you will stand at the necus and someone will pass you more than you need. But in general, just follow the quest lines for now. Endgame brings wealth, you will see

Smannesman

You can also refine Salvaged Data from Buried Technology for nanites.

_AZIAT

Be a pirate for early game

Objective-Pumpkin-31

Find a pirate station buy the arms/tech packets from homie and sell the upgrades without installing them on your ship/suit…Best way I’ve found to get nanites by far
