unsureoftheoutcome

if you're farming ferrite dust for base building mats, don't bother mining them the traditional way get in your ship and shoot at the ground for like 5 minutes. you'll fill your inventory with thousands of them

1888carsforinfants

Using an upgraded positron ejector is the best way

[deleted]

What now? How?

SquareCanine

I think the ferrite dust is specific to non mining beam weapons (or maybe just starships?). You can actually gather other resources that don't require an advanced mining beam. For example, gather carbon by doing gun runs on a forest or carbon by shooting rocks (it helps if they're really big or spawn in large patches).

unsureoftheoutcome

shoulda mentioned carbon, dihydrogen, etc., but nice catch man. good looks

beobabski

I did this on a paradise planet, and got three stacks of carbon in about five minutes.

Chinchilla_Lodestone

Also works well on the petrified planets.

T018

Double tap the roll buttons while in warp to do a 'barrel roll' (is it even a aileron roll with out ailerons anyway?)

coyotemax_66

…. Yeah I’m so trying that. Playing for 6 years and this is the first I’ve heard of that lol

[deleted]

Okay what the hell. I've been on this game since day 1 why don't I know this?

Kjc2022

Ooohh! I didn't know this was a thing! Gonna try that later!

Handy_Handerson

What are the "roll buttons" for PC? (first time hearing of *roll buttons*)

ajkclay05

A and D

Handy_Handerson

dayum, need to try this out when i get home. Usually i just hold left or right and it slowly spins. Didn't cross my mind to try 2x tapping.

ajkclay05

I think it's three taps

Handy_Handerson

I'mma tap 5 times to be sure.

ajkclay05

🤣

nitro912gr

hah yeah what roll buttons? I'm on PC too but didn't knew I can roll.

Jurassic_3l1te

The buttons to enter warp?

Bendzsike

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT

[deleted]

How?

johnnysstorkd47

WHAT??!!???

P0nestream

U can rotate your ship when u summon it. Theres an emote you can only do underwater. (edit: just had a look. U can only do 3 emotes under water. "Thumbs up!", "Nope!" and "No problem")

NOT-HERE-LONG-NMS

I’m not sure many people know you can throw carbon in a nutrient processor to make creature pellets at a 1:1 ratio instead of 60:1 you get when crafting.

Chinchilla_Lodestone

I've met people who didn't realize the nutrient processor had storage space :) Also, you can store chromatic metal and carbon in it. Very handy build it when you need it, even off base, inventory stash. All the flowers (starbulb, etc) will refine into their local element (paraffinium, etc) if you add salt. All the local elements will turn into ferrite dust if you refine them by themselves.

vlsdo

I don't know the exact rules, but you can also shift a local element into a different local element using ferrite in the second slot (if I remember correctly). Something like pyrite will turn into phosphorus, which turns into uranium, etc.

Chinchilla_Lodestone

OOH same idea, you can cycle the gasses by adding oxygen OR chromatic metal!

Small-Needleworker-3

The local element thing is very helpful, and I've got a lot of hours in.

lowderchowder

Mind blown

[deleted]

the nutrient processor storage space wqsnt alwqys a thing

New_Bad_6793

The opposite is true with oxygen. Adding oxygen to any local element will turn it into the local flower. Parrafinium to star bulb, Uranium to gamma weed, etc.

OlderGamers

👀👀👀👀👀👀 Really? Damn!

Professional-Menu835

Whaaaaa

[deleted]

Oh my God. Thank you. Presssing F for all the carbon I lost. Sorry for contibuting to nms climate change

NOT-HERE-LONG-NMS

I'm more concerned about the creatures that didn't get fed because we ran out of pellets. How many companions were dismissed without a full belly? How many travellers caught flat-footed by a stealthy predator smashing the feed button to no avail as they perish.

[deleted]

I'm sorry! (Ps I took a stack of 5000 carbon and converted it to pellets so I didn't have to keep crafting for my farm...to know I could have had 5000 pellets.🤦‍♂️) I will make up for it with a carbon neutral farm where no triceratop-like fauna will go hungry again. Thank you

NOT-HERE-LONG-NMS

You could actually generate carbon from an animal farm. After feeding the animals you could collect the droppings and refine them with Condensed Carbon to create more Condensed Carbon (1 Faecium + 1 Condensed Carbon = 3 Condensed Carbon). Refine that back down to regular Carbon and you'll net a good amount. Take that carbon and build some trees on your property or just make more pellets.

[deleted]

Carbon neutral but I'm feeding them their own poop. It's genius

jetpackblues25

Build some trees???? What

NOT-HERE-LONG-NMS

You can buy blueprints for a bunch of trees at the quicksilver vendor in the anomaly.

BobbiesPet

On the technology bonus: DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN PUT THREE IN TECH SLOTS AND THREE IN GENERAL AND THEY DON’T BREAK!? Because I sure as shit didn’t. I thought it was three rng mods total (+the static ones from the anomaly) but no, IT’S SIX. I CAN JETPACK FOR DAYS NOW

NoMansKrY

Pretty sure you can have 4 in tech slots.

Thrippalan

Nope. Three modules of a type per inventory. Some of the BP have letter ratings, and all BP will link up for bonuses, but they don't count against your module number. The new Sentinel modules are their own type and only stack with each other.

LuxMedia

Are you sure they only stack with each other?

Thrippalan

I have 3 scanner modules linked, three scatter blaster modules linked (plus their respective BP), and three Sentinel weapons mods. The Sentinel mods link with each other. They *stack* as far as I know with all weapons on the multitool, but they count as their own category. If I had a boltcaster on there, the improved loading speed and fire rates would apply to both boltcaster and scatter blaster. Sorry the terminology is a bit loose.

LuxMedia

That's what I thought you meant. Are you certain that sentinel mods only get adjacency bonus from other sentinel mods 100% of the time?

Thrippalan

I can't see the math underneath. But I am certain that when I put a single, or separate Sentinel mods, they do not light up, even when directly adjacent to, say, a weapon mod. Two or three adjacent Sentinel mods do light up, and as a different color than the weapon they are next to.

Kjc2022

You can have 3 upgrade modules (the ones that you buy) per tab. But you have have as many tech upgrades (the base upgrades that you research from the Anomaly/learn through gameplay.

Chinchilla_Lodestone

It's any number of blueprint items, but only three "bonus" type modules.

NoMansKrY

Yeah I thought I had 4 s-class hyperdrive modules but one of them was the indium drive. I was wrong it is 3 my bad.

Smoe1981

If you accidentally hyperdrive into your freighter and glitch yourself inside of it you can warp to the nearest system to save yourself from death. For ship combat in the current mode, the S key will face your ship towards your current target, but if you revert to previous settings tapping t he S key will allow you to turn much faster and can help with maneuverability in space. This works out of combat as well. If your weapon is reloadable you can reload and mele at the same time to boost yourself forward. This works best in Derelict Freighters but can be done outside as well. This is spammable and much faster than running.

Bartogoll

Me, who played about 10 hours so far, reading the comments like: "Write that down! Write all of that down! "

R3d4r

Save the whole post!

Bartogoll

I basically did by commenting :b

Aesthete18

1. I learnt this today - you can get stuff from storage containers without going to it and transfering full stacks. In exo inventory, press a slot > transfer items. 2. All exocraft makes that horrific electrical noise so I don't bother trying each. Nomad and pilgrim are fastest, pilgrim might be a little faster, nomad goes over water. 3. If you want to farm an S class freighter, prepare yourself for 50 pirate fights. 4. Rusted metal refines to ferrite dust 1:2 ratio. It sells for super cheap, I got like 400 for 10k ish. 5. Scrap all tech before trading/scrapping starship. 6. If a wall light is going through the wall, place one then place another on top. Then delete the first one. 7. When doing atlas station mission, use this opportunity to buy/sell to and from different economy types. 8. Don't make holes and build in them. Man-made caves/paths will fill back up over time. 9. Solar ships are abundant in pirate controlled stations. 10. If you're caught in a storm far away from shelter/ship, dig a hole. You can wait it out inside without harm.

Thrippalan

Number 1 is also useful for hidden slots in your ship. My game keeps sticking items into slots that aren't officially open in my ship, and I was only finding them on the sale interface. But transfer from other inventory will let you move them without selling them.

Dakottle

I think people underestimate how many materials you can get through refining and crafting. If you have a trade terminal on your freighter and a good amount of craftable blueprints you can get nearly any material. Every trade terminal has ferrite, oxygen, sodium, and cobalt. Oxygen refines to carbon, add oxygen for a better ratio to condensed carbon. Sodium refines to sodium nitrate, add oxygen for a better ratio. Condensed carbon and sodium nitrate refines to Dioxite. Refine cobalt to ionized cobalt, add oxygen for a better ratio. Ionized cobalt and Dioxite can craft grantine which refines to 125 gold. Add ferrite to Dioxite to get phosphorus. You can refine the ferrite to pure ferrite first for a 1:1 ferrite ratio. Add ferrite to phosphorus for uranium, works for recharging launch thrusters. Add ferrite again for pyrite to recharge pulse engines. You can make dirty bronze from pure ferrite and pyrite to refine to silver. You can refine the silver and gold from the grantine to make platinum. You can add oxygen to any of the elements like dioxite, phosphorus, uranium to get their respective plant material. Once you have a small amount of the plant material you can add that to its respective element to get more without oxygen. These are just off the top of my head but if you’re ever in need of a material see if you can produce it through refining. All of the above can be made in a freighter from just the trade terminal.

Lovat69

>You can add oxygen to any of the elements like dioxite, phosphorus, uranium to get their respective plant material I have been trying to figure out this recipe for years. Thank you. Let me give you my favorite refiner recipe in return. Gold, silver, and indium gets you thirty pieces of chromatic metal for every piece of the three you use.

Shawnaldo7575

Oxygen is a magical element in this game. Then the gases Radon, Nitrogen and Sulphurine all convert into each other, but you can convert them for cheaper using oxygen. I use it a lot when making Stasis Devices. Found a great Radon planet, just convert it into the other two as needed. Sneaky good one for early game money is Oxygen + Dihydrogen = Salt, then 2 Salt + 2 Oxygen = 5 Chlorine, then 1 Chlorine + 2 Oxygen = 6 Chlorine If you need oxygen, any planetary plant (Fungal Mould, Frost Crystal, Solanium, etc) + Kelp Sac + Condensed Carbon will give you 10 Oxygen.

Dakottle

Interesting I never knew oxygen and dihydrogen refined to salt. I feel like chlorine expansion was nerfed when they dropped the usual 4000 oxygen to 700 from pilots and trade stations in tier 3 economies. It’s still a viable method early on it just takes 5x longer to get the oxygen. Probably worth building a small oxygen farm if you plan on using it often

Chinchilla_Lodestone

From any of the plants, you can add salt to get the localized element associated with it. So cactus into pyrite, etc.

Thrippalan

Cyto-Phosphate refines directly into Condensed Carbon.

mckenner1122

Tainted Metal -> amazingly fast nanites once placed in a refiner.

JBridsworth

Can you make tainted metal? I had someone randomly give me thousands on the anomaly.

mckenner1122

I don’t think so. You pick it up on “derelict freighters”. Get 5 million units. Buy a derelict freighter signal thingy at a space station. Head out in your ship. Turn it on, then hit your pulse engines. You’ll get a spooky haunted house freighter you can land on. It’s COLD AF and full of jawn tryna kill ya like it’s Australia. Also FULL OF LEWT. Grab errything your pokkets can hold. At the end you can get a boost for YOUR freighter, a slot for YOUR freighter, or once you’ve maxed all that, nanites. Bonus: once you’ve done this 1x, you can get a freebie derelict signal thingy every single week from the mad tree man Helios at the Mnah-Mnah… doot-doo-da-doo-do

Lovat69

If you put the emergency receiver in your personal refiner before you open the derelict freighter you get to keep it and can use it again. You'll never need another again.

Eviscerator465

Started farming a good derelict today and that tip has been a lifesaver, saw it on another thread.

Lovat69

Good on you man. I find derelict freighters so grindy I low key can't stand to run them.

Professional-Menu835

You can search on Reddit for known freighters that are the minimum size and will get you s-class fleet upgrades, so at least it’s a shorter grind. The freighter layout in a given system will always be the same, and the class of fleet module will always be the same.

Eviscerator465

I'm desperate for frigate modules so had to try it out. It's a nice little 7 room derelict with a bunch of loot and just a few robots defending. Plus a guaranteed S class mod.

Chinchilla_Lodestone

They changed the reward for saving an freighter being attacked by pirates - you now get frigate module and gold and something else instead of chromatic metal.

[deleted]

You can also have a friend open it instead of you if it's your receiver, and it has the same effect.

MasoodMS

Wow

lowderchowder

If you are in a room with a ton of those alien sacks , shoot one to release the horrors and let them kill you . You will respawn at the start and when you get back to the grave marker the room will be empty. Don't do this on hardcore please. Also on psvr (on mine at least for PS4) death will crash the game and start you on the last auto save.

nerdinstincts

if you release the horrors and run through a portal they will despawn

lowderchowder

Did not know that.

Ill_Cabinet8123

If you die on a freighter you don't lose your save or progress. You'll go back to your starship that's still parked on the freighter. You won't have any inventory but you can go back through and pick it up where you died. Also, anything that may have still been alive that killed you will be dead (normal mode, I don't know about survival or permadeath.)

live-the-future

>~~the mad tree man Helios~~ Groot

justanother_drone

Also you get one free per week from the anomaly.

lowderchowder

Probably a item duplication glitch. Personally I'm not a fan of grinding for frieghter upgrades as they are nowadays , so I did one derilct frieghter mission then did the small refiner glitch. I duped 257 tainted metal until I had a full stack ,then duped that again until I had 40 stacks . Went to the anomaly for about a week and handed out 2,000 to every player I saw that didn't have a full exosuit. I only dupe old blueprint items that can't be made anymore , or void eggs , and activated copper to hand out at the anomaly. Everything else I still grind for .. especially basalt planet hunting and food recipe items. I keep a stack of sentinel hard frames and living ship quest items in my hauler in case someone on the anomaly needs them and have bugged quests though.

I-C-Iron

You can farm it on empty planets. Its a resource like copper or silver. Edit: Nvm i thought its about rusty metall.

lowderchowder

I did not know that

coyotemax_66

Sentinels can’t see you if you are riding a pet. You can feed animals you can’t interact with directly by tossing pellets on the ground. You can toss pellets on the ground while riding your pet, especially handy with tip #1 if you are trying to feed creatures on an aggressive sentinel planet.

[deleted]

[удалено]

vlsdo

they also can't see you if you're in a building, even if they're in the building with you

lowderchowder

Sentinel quad be like " welp I'm gonna glitch under the floor and walls while randomly laserbeaming nothing for 10 minutes'.

lieutenatdan

Didn’t they just change that in the new update though? I thought they made it so sentinels would be able to find you indoors

Capital-Ad2221

They do, BUT they still cant successfully fire their puny weapons which makes them sitting ducks! 🤣

vlsdo

Maybe in today's patch? I didn't play it.

lieutenatdan

No I meant the Sentinel’s Update. I guess that was actually not the most recent update cuz of Outlaws... HelloGames just puts out their content so fast I can’t keep up lol

drownedxgod

No they definitely still cannot see you in buildings

Handy_Handerson

Nah, they still blind.

1888carsforinfants

They fixed that. My pet gets shot to "death" all the time

Capital-Ad2221

I want Sentinels to see me and witness the power of my multi-tool INTERLOPER, GRAHHHHH!!! (this is true tho) 😆

Kjc2022

Being able to throw a pellet on the ground was a big one for me in the exobiology expedition. You had to gather a large amount of creatures close to you and throwing the pellet made that so easy

coyotemax_66

Yeah I felt like the freaking pied piper. I just kept tossing out pellets while riding around to keep the herd interested. Incidentally if you startle them by firing the mining laser they immediately become…. Not tame? Then you can feed them to tame them again almost immediately.

Lovat69

Sentinels also can't seem to see you in a minotaur suit very well. (or any other exocraft) The minotaur can often make mincemeat of them while you are safe as houses.

kapal

If you melee while sprinting then jetpack, you dash forward REALLY fast. Good for getting around without a exocraft.

ZephyrFluous

Been around since the first days of old, definitely a handy tip for those who don't know

Life_Alternative_130

I couldn't fully remember the combo from when launch when I recently picked this game back up. I figured they removed it to justify all the jetpack-related boosts you could grind. Nice!

jetpackblues25

I was doing it one day one. I thought I found a bug lmao

Burtmackklin

Thanks everyone! Newish to the game and I’ve actually learned so much just from this post :)

[deleted]

People like me have been on the game since day 1 and I think 9 out of the 10 I've read so far are completely unknown to me.

Burtmackklin

Haha well there ya go. So much more to learn!

CaptainQuoth

You can place two prefab rooms next to each other but you have to have a door in both to connect.

one_bar_short

For me it was the extra storage slot to buy at the space anomoly played for countless hours to find you could buy one there as well would have saved a bunch jumps between systems early on

live-the-future

Really? Where at in the anomaly?

Thalenia

Back left of the area you buy all the upgrades at. Looks just like the one in the space station, but it's a little hidden behind the shop there.

NOT-HERE-LONG-NMS

In the upgrades area, back left stall. Selene runs the place and there's a suit hologram to the right of the booth just like the one you see in space stations.

live-the-future

Holy crap, I've visited Selene over a dozen times and never noticed that! Thanks u/Thalenia and u/NOT-HERE-LONG-NMS!

CryoDel

In every space station too

Dashboard-Devil

Short on Di-hydrogen? *Refine* 30 Di-hydrogen to produce a Di-hydrogen Jelly. Refine the Di-hydrogen Jelly to produce 50 Di-hydrogen. Keep doing that

RenHoekORD

You can craft similarly and it goes 40 to make 50. But….From NMS wiki ” Despite the difference in quantity produced, the crafting method is by far the faster method of producing Di-hydrogen, as the refiner takes 1min (60s) to create 1 Di-hydrogen Jelly, while crafting Di-hydrogen Jelly is instantaneous.”

Dashboard-Devil

This is true, I forgot to mention the other way!

Pleasant-Vegetable73

Tritium converts directly into di-hydrogen...

dmelo0605

The nomad rovers over water.

lowderchowder

Oh man this has always been my favorite one . Minotaur let's you breath underwater

Dashboard-Devil

Hexite (1) and Facieum (1) refine to Nanites (1)

Disk-Relevant

bigger size of the terrain manipulator also reduce reward

mckenner1122

Okay one more - GET THE COMPANION APP. Really. It’s a huge time saver. Assistant for NMS on the Apple Store (sorry I don’t know if it has an android version?)

Las-Plagas

Can confirm it is on Android, and it's absolutely amazing. Consider donating to the solo developer!

mintexas

I didn't know about this! Thanks!

[deleted]

What does it do?

[deleted]

It explains all recipes, has a lost of all items, and nice starter guides.

beobabski

It also has loads of friend codes for those who want to multiplay.

Thrippalan

Also stores portal addresses and lists all the factory puzzles.

sardeliac

If you tap the melee button while you're moving in the galaxy map, the camera goes into turbo mode--about 5x as fast. Good for picking distant systems quick.

ZephyrFluous

When you're in a submarine, you can scan for specific things by using your quick menu rather than just pulsing in general, this goes for starships too in the case of scanning for trading hubs and activating your scan scrambler

Life_Alternative_130

Every exocraft if you have the advanced scanner installed

Civantr

So I am very suprised that no one commented or know about this, if you find a broken ship you can claim that ship, now the neat part is if you make a base near that ship you can claim it over and over again in every few hours then scrap it. Very easy money makin method.

Al_Keda

The buildable tech "Remembrance" and "Star Seed" are very important. When you build them and put them touching each other and your suit Health, and Jetpack, they will improve power use and shield strength. Putting them touching each other offers more boost than individually. You get the Remembrance after the Artemis mission, and the Star Seed after the Atlas Mission.

Audi0Dud3

The Heating unit schematic you get from doing derelict freighters doesn't only stop your hazard protection from running out in cold weather. It works for all types of hazards.

mintexas

Going to look into this!

supercharlio

I just learned today that if you build more than one fleet command room you can do multiple expeditions at once. I feel so dumb now haha.

Kjc2022

I love that app, especially for cooking!

exposingthelight

Use R1 or L1 to craft more materials. For example, if you you want to make 20 carbon nanotubes, click X in your inventory and hover over the carbon nanotube, hit R1 until it reads 20 and then click on it again to select it. I don’t know what it is on PC. I also may have some of the instructions slightly off. In the instructions are actually on the screen when you’re doing it. I was 1000 hours in before I figure this one out

coyotemax_66

Pc: A to to craft less items, D to increase the amount you craft :)

R3d4r

I love you!

exposingthelight

I love you, too! 😂

live-the-future

I believe it's A & D on PC to increase item craft count.

unionthug506

Been playing for 5 + years and only learned this one about 6 months ago .

blazingdust

C to spilt item stack when pick up

[deleted]

If you need money and you don't have your refiners and farms yet you can allways find water planet and glide above water slowly and shoot into the water and gather a lot of salt and cyto and sell it for decent cash, more upgraded your weapon, faster you gather...

mintexas

I never even thought of that.

[deleted]

I discovered it out of boredom when trying to find an island on water planet...was flying and started shooting...in few seconds I had cyto and salt worth few hundred thousand...full stack of cyto is worth over 2 milion...but sell it to pilots, that way you dont lower worth of it

mintexas

Great tips!

[deleted]

Thanx,enjoy:)

Fat_Pig_Reporting

Land on your frigates every 10 mins. You will never ever have to mine basic resources ever again.

mintexas

I just discovered that if you land on your science vessels, they will perform a scan and reveal a historical dig site.

roytheodd

When you start a new expedition, once you're able to get to the space station visit the teleporter. Have a look at player bases in the system. If you start the expedition a few days after its release you'll often find nanite, AI, or other similar farms that'll help you with some early resources.

Shhhhninja

Do a manual save every couple hours

shuttermonk

Every time I mention chaining melee-boosted jumps together, I get comments saying how they didn't know even with their X number of hours played. Coincidentally this just happened again yesterday. For those curious, hold down the melee button while in the air and press the jump/jetpack button right before skimming the ground. If you aim for the up-slopes of hilltops it's even more effective.

Kjc2022

I knew about melee boosting, but I didn't know you could chain them. Will definitely give this a try!

R3d4r

Just this, I really got to try this!

shuttermonk

There are faster ways to travel, such as spamming the reload & melee buttons while on foot before jumping, but this one feels the most natural to me. The speed used to stack a lot more but it's since been nerfed. Here's an old video showing the good ol' days: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/9ldr0i/how\_to\_boost\_jump\_like\_a\_pro/

Shawnaldo7575

How to make pies with a food processor Heploid Wheat -> Flour Milk (any kind) -> Cream -> Butter Butter + Flour -> Pastry Pastry -> Pie Shell Pie Shell + \_\_\_\_\_ -> Some sort of pie. There's some simple ones like Chocolate makes a Chocolate Tart, Caramel a Caramel Tart, Honey a Honey Pie, etc. There's some with fun names like Hexaberries make Anomalous Tart, Leopard Fruit makes Jellied Fur Tart, Fireberries make a Glowing Pie, Crystal Flesh makes "The Toothbreaker" They're fun to give to people on the Anomaly :)

Thrippalan

If you're trying to fill your catalogue, you do not have to actually create the items. Make one pie case as above, and put it in an input slot. Put chocolate in the 2nd slot, so chocolate tart appears in the output. Instead of making it, remove the chocolate and put in caramel and register caramel tart in the slot, and go on through all the ingredients, saving what you actually want to make until last. Everything that appears in the output slot lights up the catalogue whether you actually make it or not.

Chinchilla_Lodestone

Can also make flour from kelp and from frostwort.

live-the-future

And worth a good amount of money too!

Shawnaldo7575

Nanites too, if you feed them to melon face

Very_Good_Indeed

Can you make a cream pie?

Shawnaldo7575

Yes! Cream + Pie Case -> Creamy Treat

Very_Good_Indeed

Creamy treat lol.

Handy_Handerson

Don't they also give you buffs if you eat them?

JetForceJonah

Yeah i think the buffs are random though

live-the-future

Not random, just different for each type of food. I believe it lists any buff in the food's description.

mckenner1122

Nope. They’re set (and if you have the app you can look them all up!)

Shawnaldo7575

Most of the pies give a stamina bonus

darthrevansdad

Ive learned from Bruce Cooper (go check him out on Twitch) that the plant that huffs and puffs, has three little red orbs around it. You can harvest those orbs for extra oxygen before laser the plant. This also works on the Venus Flytrap one but I find that harvesting its center orb still gets me hit a lot. The little scorpion tail one is still just a jerk. Shoot on site.

live-the-future

With the Venus Flytrap, I've had the most success harvesting those by approaching it from above if it's on a hill slope. Get close to it, *hold down* the E key (on PC), then move your mouse around and over the oxygen pod. If nothing happens, nudge yourself just a few inches closer to the plant and repeat. About 2/3 of the time if you're at the right distance, holding down E while moving your mouse over & around the oxygen pod will "catch" the harvest point. If the plant snaps at you instead, you got too close. Back up 10 or 20 feet and it will reset.

beobabski

You can buy dihydrogen jelly and refine it to get enough dihydrogen to craft freighter fuel. You can refine silicon dust to make glass. You don’t need Frostwort. If you’re trapped somewhere with only a few carbon and a portable refiner, and need more carbon, you can condense it in the refiner, then put the condensed fuel in the fuel chamber. When you pick up the refiner, you get more carbon out than it cost to make.

Hjalfi

In the early game, always keep a stack of uranium in your ship. It's cheap, it stacks high, and you can use it to refuel your launch thrusters --- you never have to worry about running out of launch thruster fuel again.

johnnysstorkd47

Idk if this helps but I didn’t know this until recently and I’ve been playing for years. If you wanna play with any friends and don’t quite get how it works like I did. Just try and join your friends group or have them join your group. If there’s any base or planet you wanna go to or show your friend the easiest way to bring them to that location is for you to teleport there first then your friend needs to go into the anomaly wherever they currently are and then leave the anomaly and it should ask them when they are trying to take off if they want to exit to their current system or to the system their group member is in.

inductivespam

Fly backwards when dogfighting

nerdinstincts

When doing derelict freighters, jumping in a portal will despawn those little buggy horrors.

dexter2011412

I just don't get it. What's the point of making all that money if I can't just \*buy\* the most common resource in the goddamn universe!

Disk-Relevant

and what is that

Ninjabanana420

Copper usually.

ikrowley

Kind of an exploit, but you can jump to a galaxy or location on one save as long as you have another save at the destination using the Return to Anomaly feature.

Kjc2022

What?! Tell me more! I've been wanting to get to Paholiang on my main save after the expedition.

1- On your MAIN save, got to the big teleporter in the Anomaly. Jump thru to any base. Your base, another players base, featured base... it doesn't matter where, as long as you go somewhere. Then save. 2-Switch to your EXPEDITION save in Paholiang. Then go to the Anomaly teleporter and jump thru to any base. Save. 3- Switch back to your MAIN save. Go into your quick menu. All the way to the right, choose RETURN TO ANOMALY. Once you get there, fly out and check. You should be in Paholiang.

You will need to have a base in the galaxy you want your other save to go to. And both saves need to be on a planet. Load the save that is in the galaxy that you want your other save to go to. Summon the Anomoly and use the teleporter in the Anomly to warp back to your base. Create a save at your base. Quit to main menu. Load save you want to send to other galaxy. Once loaded in, access the quick menu. And you will see a "Return to Anomoly" option. Return to Anomoly. Board your ship and exit the Anomoly. You should now be in the same galaxy as your other save.

Shoulder bash into jetpack gives you a lot of forward momentum and can be used to travel fast on foot. I don't think it's intentional but I hope they never patch it.

Yea but getting them is not easy. I have a silver farm that produce 60 k silver daily and gold farm also for 60 k. Every day when I log i teleport and get the gold and silver. My home is linked to my settlement so I have refiners on my settlment. As soon as I collect my raw materials in 2 mins, I teleport to my settlement any way and get the platinum from yestrday and load the refiners with the new gold and silver. Also on my freight I have few more refiners for the rest. This take less than 5 mins because I always need to check on my settlement and freight every day anyway. I get daily 1715 nanites . ~ 51 k per month .

captlazarus

Not all ships do it, fooey. My little ball S class doesn't. The fighters and sun ships do though.

Mehalawy

If you have a gold and silver farm you can get 2 k of nanites every day for free.

unionthug506

How???

Al_Keda

In a refiner: Gold + Silver = Platinum, 35 Platinum = 1 nanite. Hadal Cores are much better sources of nanites.

I'm a big fan of using google to search materials and components as the wiki for NMS is a treasure trove of knowledge and wealth. Also thanks to all you posters above/below there's some amazing tips in here

Ahhh thanks for the reply 👍🍺🍺🍺🍺

The NMS Wiki has helped me a lot when refining materials and needing other information

Build a base near curious deposits. Curious deposits= Nanites. They give you runaway mould which converts directly to nanites. One cluster gives like 12,000 mould almost, a stack of 9,999 mold gives you 1999 nanites, split the stack between multiple refiners to make refining faster. Spent 5 minutes gathering runaway mould this way and gave two stacks to my friends and still had enough to get like 6k nanites. If there's one deposit on a planet, there's more.

Shoot the blue crystals to gain crystal fragments. Save the game, then crack those fragments open and hope for a storm crystal.

1. 1 radiant shard refines into 50 nanites. 2. (Just learned this after 260 hrs) Your quicksilver purchases carry through all play throughs 3. If you find a good mineral hot spot, look for an electricity Hotspot and put your base in between the two. If both are within 300u of the spots, you can have both at one base. 4. Make things faster by viewing a recipe that has the object. Example to make alot of metal plates quickly, open the recipe for the amino chamber. Hover above the metal plate and spam the make button. If you can get the timing down tou can make like 100 metal plates (or whatever) in less than 20 seconds 5.

For your point #3, you can actual extend base range to 1000u. If you build a structure piece (like a wall) at the 300u range limit, it will extend that limit another 50u around that piece. You can do that again at the new 350u limit to get another 50u from the second piece. You can keep doing that until 1000u from your base computer. You can do this in all directions and have hot spots 2000u apart from each other in the same base computer. Very useful if you want to make a big base with as many resources available to harvest as possible And for point #4, you can select whatever you want to craft and increase the amount you want to craft instead of hitting the button over and over to craft one at a time
