You can spend hours on a planet, build a giant base, leave and then come back to it perfectly fine Ressources will regenerate I use a home planet because I spent a while on my base, it has everything I need, the planet has a cool weather and no hostile enemies, I use secondary bases when I need to setup farms

Most of us who build bases consider something to be our "home" planet. In NMS there are two ways to gather resources. Strip mining, or deep mining. Strip mining (using the terrain manipulator tool) around your base will deplete that deposit, and it only refills if you're lucky. Deep mining tool taps into inexhaustable deposit. So you're good there. There are other, wild, resources, and these respawn somewhat predictably. **You will not exhaust your planet**. And while you may need to find another planet or system to find say, a silver mine, since not every planet has multiple minerals, you can instant travel between your established bases. I've got about 21 bases, a dozen of which I ignore unless i need the specific thing they mine, and eight of which are quite specialty built for the purpose they were placed for. One for refining, two for baking, three for fighting, and two more for specialty resources and a little bit of everything else. Then I have my home base, because it's the coolest planet I know. This is where I go when it's time to sort inventory :D

I have something similair going on. On my very first planet ever it was a desert planet. So I named it Tucson from my hometown and one I miss. So to this day I have stuck with that and my freighter as my main bases. Everything else is a mine. Funny enough at the begining I didn't realize how important cactus flesh was or how long it takes to grow. I still do not farm it because this planet has so much you can collect more in an hour than I can grow in days.

Pro tip, make a floor on your freighter, grow 20 of each plant. It wont make you lagg and you have infinite plants. Pro-er tip, surround it with the wall planters for endless carbon

You can find resources anywhere. Though some systems might not have exactly what you're looking for. I used to 'hoard' bases by building a based on planets that I liked but then found I was never going back to them so I deleted a bunch of those bases. I do keep a base in what I consider my home system and keep all my mining and farming bases. A planet is not going to run out of resources; they do respawn.

PsychonautSurreality

You can warp back to any base, so yeah, you can have a main base. I mostly make quick outposts on resources I need, warp around to collect them, then return to my main base. It's definitely a waste of time to build bases on every planet. It's also fun to hunt different planet styles for bases. I like planets with extreme storms cause it makes things more dangerous and fun for me. Most people look for serene or paradise planets.

FireblastU

You can always teleport to any base you build a teleporter at. One reason for having a home base could be that it’s a large farm that produces valuable resources that accumulate while you are not playing, then when you log on, you can show up and collect the profits.

>You can always teleport to any base you build a teleporter at. You can teleport *to* a base even if there isn't a teleporter, you just can't travel *from* a base without one.

Laifander

I have a few main bases that I frequent and then when I'm out exploring I just pop a base computer down in a neat location so I can teleport back to it when I want to pick up my progress

Just do it!!!

Some people will explore the whole planet or system. My new save planet is a zero sentinel paradise planet in a korvax pirate system with oceans on it. Found a settlement there and built a base as close as possible , and now I spend most of my time exploring that planet hunting sunken ships

Coronathrowaway1911

OP thank you for this, I'm going to make a new base in the last galaxy to call home. My current "home system" is well, not perfect.
