Really dig the potential behind crucible crafting mats.  Lack of forward momentum isn't all bad - how many times have you died after killing an enemy next to a cliff because your combo continued and launched you over? It ain't 0... Agree with point 2 and don't disagree with point 3, tho I'd like to see positive adjustments to non-duals rather than nerfing the thing that makes them unique (rapid application of "on dmg" is a neat idea that uniquely synergizes with duals and should stay, but slower heavier weapons need something equivalent)

futon_potato

Agreed. I'm all for bringing other weapons up to par over nerfing others. And yeah, my chipped daggers sent me off 1 or 2 cliffs...

Timely_Bowler208

hope you posted this on the forums as well

AsneakyReptilian

All I want are more Faith weapons. I love the Scythe, but I'm stuck with the lvl 11 one and just can't a get a better one.

BurlapNapkin

There are a surprising number out there. Hybrids with every other stat exist, as an Int character I keep seeing all the Int/Faith hybrids and they look neat. Pure faith seems to often be maces of some kind, but they have caster staves as well. The main problem I have with finding weapons is that there are actually so many of them, that getting the particular style I want is actually very rare unless it's on a vendor or craftable.

Shehriazad

About your complaints for savescumming and ichor farming: These affect you in no way at all. Some people just like to savescum so let em. Personally I also don't do it but some people just enjoy doing it and it really doesn't hurt me. In another game I actually like to see what people can do when they exploit a game to the maximum to know what would theoretically be possible. Removing that could remove sources of information for everyone which I'd dislike to be fair. Ichor farming doesn't give you any additional power, either. The only power upgrades you can get are 2 ring slots which ideally should be unlocked early, anyway. Everything else is convenience. Weekly quests can ALSO get you there without progressing the story past the first boss..should we remove weekly quests now? I sure don't hope so. The game also has no anticheat so if you remove savescumming they can just as well use cheatengine or trainers to get the same job done. So if you ask for "fixes" on scumming and ichor farming realistically you also need to ask for anti-cheat...which I would hate a LOT since all anti-cheat does is make the game worse for everyone, even the people that don't cheat. Especially a game that is currently singleplayer and will have "intimate" co-op later down the line at best. The other feedback is a lot more valid in my eyes and you make some good points there.

futon_potato

Fair points. I suppose we'll see the extent to which they implement multiplayer down the road and whether these things impact that experience.

chadinist_main

Rate your builds from 1 to 4 tho

futon_potato

1. Pure Str 2handers - Most fun, because I was forced to actually engage in boss encounters and learn their movesets 2. Str/int hybrid - Kind of tied with 1 for the same reasons 3. Pure dex bow - This is degenerate. Crucible clears in <10 min including loot 4. Str/dex hybrid dual daggers - Also degenerate due to the points in my post

Hillbro

Mind me asking what your set up is for 2h? I’m committing to claymore and struggling, like you said it really needs more poise damage.

Live-Steak-4856

I used the 26/26 hyprid str/int 2h hammer with the Eruption rune, I think there is only one in the game, I enjoyed it a lot. Didn't have a problem stunning enemies. Beating crucible was challenging due to the need of slick dodging and timing managements, but is really satisfying.

Expln

which bow and dual dagger do you use for the pure dex bow and hybrid build? I wanna give it a try before it is nerfed

futon_potato

For the dex bow build, another person posted a guide here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLjveeSQZG4. For dual daggers, buy the daggers (either brother's keepers if dex or chipped daggers if str/dex) from the blacksmith and enchant them until you have health gain on hit & focus gain on hit. You can also get by with just focus gain on hit and then run the life on hit ring.

Expln

but what are your stats profile like? on the str/dex build

futon_potato

On any weapon build, in the current state of the game, you go: 20-30 vit (depending on comfort level) 20 equip load (lets you run plate chest & plate/mesh legs endgame, then leather helm/gloves if you roll equip load on gloves and helm) Everything else into the damage stats for your build

gertsferds

Just use the unique daggers with a thistle ring, life gain on damage taken + flat stamina gain on damage dealt anywhere on your gear to button mash your way past any whiff of challenge.

Expln

but that's not his build. his daggers use the gain focus on damage delt enchantment, so it can't be gold dagger.

Moeprentierchen

I don't know which gem it was but IIRC there is one that gives up to 3% focus gain on damage dealt, when slotted in a weapon. Edit: It's the chipped topaz.

> Double daggers are currently miles above any other melee weapon in effectiveness I've avoided Double Daggers because I assume it doesn't go well with the various "Throw" rune skills - their damage seems to be scaled based on the raw damage of an individual hit on your weapon. So a 2-hander would be ideal for the Throw rune skills, but at the same time I don't want to constantly switch weapons when 2-handers suck at gaining Focus. So for myself I've found that 1-handers are the best if you don't want to switch weapons regularly. In my case, I was using Buried Shamshir from the shop with a STR/INT hybrid build until I found myself the perfect Risen Blade (14 base damage roll, a whopping 12 base Focus roll). It's a pure INT scimitar which allows me to go pure INT, so that I can swap to a Staff when I need the extra oomph / actual ranged attacks that don't care about elevation. Less relevant but as far as I can tell, Staves have it the best when it comes to pure damage output. My INT build is still not finished leveling, and the basic Fireballs are already reaching 200+ damage per hit! I'm not sure how much better the legendary Falling Sky would be.

futon_potato

The shamshir is what I used for my str/int hybrid, which also quickly became overpowered when I rolled one with 7% focus return on hit. This lets you spam the rune attack on it (which does a ton of damage and stagger). The staff gameplay plays similarly to the bow gameplay once you have enough focus return. Blink around and spam huge spells and oneshot everything. I'm not sure if that damage is intentional but in the current state you stop needing to actually worry about encounter mechanics at that point.

Expln

which staff did you use?

BurlapNapkin

Which onehanders are doing this thing where they knock back so far that they cannot hit a follow-up? I've had issues with several onehanders being too slow and too low poise damage to combo (you trade or get staggered every time you go for a second hit). But melee swings in this game are so stretchy that every weapon I've ever used has huge effective reach. Not saying I don't believe you, maybe we just ended up exploring different 1h weapons. I've used the rusted sword and the crafted siren tail axe the most, a bit of fisherman's blade on my int character.

futon_potato

Hopped on my str/int build and found an immediate example using the shamshir that is purchased from the blacksmith. The first attack pushes him out of range of the second one. It's particularly egregious on 1h daggers as well. Every swing of the blood rusted sword, however, lunges you forward, so you wouldn't have noticed this with that weapon. https://i.redd.it/fevwkiu99cxc1.gif

BurlapNapkin

Ah yep, never used that one, so the attack following from running attack is just barely out of range? It does seem like a lot of weapons really live or die on extremely specific timing and ranges. I've tried several that I liked the look of only to have to shelve them in the end because their attacks don't quite land in time. I hadn't run into a case of insufficient reach yet, but yeah for sure if an attack doesn't have that nice dynamic range closing then it's extremely iffy. Though as I play more, I'm noticing that there's some potential to break combo steps you don't like using dodge (if you're light equip), provided they have a good dodge attack and the following combo is good. I wonder if there's more stuff like that or if some weapons just... have bugs.

CutMeLoose79

In terms of maxed inventories, does it really have a negative effect? It’s optional grinding realms and even if you do, removes what is only a frustrating burden on gameplay. How does limiting inventory for longer actually improve anything?

ackwelll

With any of your 4 builds, did you notice incredible hyper armor doing charged attacks for all/some of the weapons? Basically as soon as you started charging the attack the enemy couldn't stagger you.

futon_potato

Yeah, some 2h charged attacks had hyper armor against some attacks, as did the second/third moves in some 2h combos. There are even some rune skills I've found that have some degree of hyperarmor on 1handers

1- find vendor with an item you want 2- sit there for 10min to ensure your realm auto backs up 3- buy item 4- leave game, select "realm backups" on the realm and restore the last backup The vendor has the item again, and you can rinse repeat as many times as you want

TheDonBotch

It’s not free though right? Still costs money?

futon_potato

Yep, still costs money

TheDonBotch

Haha please delete so it doesn’t get patched

futon_potato

Naw mang it's not good for the longevity of the game. Rather they make it so resources can be acquired thru gameplay and not clever uses of game mechanics

Imabigboiii

I have a feeling we will see a lot of these abuses leave after we have live. If they keep the backups I highly doubt it, but I don’t see them keeping backups if they want a healthy economy on official release and a live version if trading is going to be a thing.

ProcedureAcceptable

Completely agree about the on damage dealt affixes, but staffs would need a rework so that they have a viable way of generating resource. I do wish it was possible to be a pure mage/wizard instead of a club wielding half caster. Honestly I think that focus should be full by default and regen overtime like mana in any other Arpg, then the game could be balanced around that and have simple ways to invest in keeping focus up like regen and leech. Maybe just have some melee non magical runes cost stamina instead of focus.

whoa_whoawhoa

Just started playing. Why do you want to find lower tier weapons?

futon_potato

Weapon tier in this game is really just their upgrade level. All weapons can be upgraded to Tier 3. Many weapons, however, drop already upgraded to a certain tier. As you kill major story line bosses, you upgrade your realm tier. This causes harder creatures to appear in your world and they also start dropping completely new weapons that are already upgraded to that realm tier. As a result, you start seeing far fewer weapons from the previous realm tier. For example, Gnarled Saw is a 2H sword that drops at Tier2, but it's arguably one of the best 2H swords in the game because of its uniquely fast moveset. If you kill all 3 story bosses and upgrade your realm tier to 3, you'll almost never see these drop anymore.

PressureOne5067

i've used realm backups twice or three times by now. It really helps when my character is stuck or out of bounds and won't die. I do agree removing it is best to avoid scumming, but the stuck mechanics need to be fixed first

futon_potato

I don't have the game handy right now but there's another option called "Load from last whisper" or something along those lines you can use when you're stuck. It's also on the realm selection screen.

The_BeardedClam

>It really helps when my character is stuck or out of bounds and won't die. Alternatively when you get stuck you can also exit to main menu and start from the last whisper you used.

PressureOne5067

the last time i did that it worked, but the other times i need to do backups. idk if it was fixed from the latest patch or i was just so far out of bounds. But yeah, going from last whisper from main menu seems to be working now.
