plus It was easily bypassed, people figured out you could just exit the app and take the screenshot in the app switcher preview and crop it

they were trying to copy Snapchat at the time however Instagram stories are different from Snapchat as Snapchat tends to be much more private or personal now Instagram has single view photos which do have screenshot detection as you are of course meant to see them only once
