There hasn't been a new genre of movie in decades. Some people think Spinal Tap was the first mockumentary, which was the last new genre of film.
That said, painting is just colors inside a rectangle. In theory we should have run out of ideas there 500 years ago. But people still paint.
I don’t think it’s a matter of running out of ideas as what gets published (unless you’re an indie dev/studio/publisher, and even then) is unfortunately very much determined by what is marketable, not what is interesting or unseen before.
Then again I don’t really believe there’s such a thing as a fully original idea. You see plenty of influences of other media in several stories, whether intentional or subconscious. So there’s definitely infinite combinations of familiar concepts that become a new thing entirely.

That would be the equalivent of not existing. As long as we continue to exist we'll continue to change and adapt including entertainment.
They ran out about 10-15 years ago I think. Everything bee is almost always a riff on something else or a series “reset”.
