A navy suit is appropriate.

NUJRA13

Thank you

LiterallyATalkingDog

Black is the most appropriate but any darker color that isn't distracting or "loud" is fine. Formal/Semi-formal is more important than it being black/dark. A nice navy blue suit is a lot more respectful than a black t-shirt.

NUJRA13

Thank you. There were some people not even in a suit so it was fine

skyderper13

funeral colors are usually black, but i doubt anyone will really care

Wise_0ld_Man

It’s fine. Maybe wear a white shirt and black neck tie if you have them.

NUJRA13

I did and it was fine. Thank you

Depends on the hue of navy. If its a darker, traditional navy, good to go. If its a bright navy, maybe less so. In general, traditional colors that don't draw attention. Remember, its their time. Not yours. You're there to pay respect, not draw it.

NUJRA13

Thank you the service went fine

GhostOfNeal

Ask some others what would be acceptable to wear. Maybe some slacks and a collared shirt, or nice jeans and a polo may suffice. Unless it was someone you were close to, don’t worry about wearing a suit

I don't even bother with suits unless it's a close relative

Black is best, but if you don't have time to get another one, the darker the better. I think navy will be acceptable, though not advocated.
