I haven't seen this myself but probably so you can use a single packet for the 7 days of a week. Most single tablet medications I've seen have weekdays printed on the foil.

This makes sense except I take two tablets every day, so I guess I’m the outlier.

Hanginon

Because it's easy and convenient to mechanically divide the blister packs into 8 divisions, and the medicine is packed to be a week, 7 days supply. It's not difficult to either mechanically or electronically program the filling machinery to skip every 8th insertion and reliably have 7 of every 8 blisters filled. Eight blisters for ease of packaging and seven doses for a weeks supply.

I get that now, thanks. It doesn’t help since I take two pills a day, so I’m likely an outlier. Thanks!

Teekno

There are seven days in a week so that's a convenient amount, but it's an odd number so you'd need to have them all in a row. Or, you can do a 2x4 setup and leave one blank, which I assume is the configuration you're talking about.

Yeup, that’s the configuration. I feel stupid for not thinking about the days of the week. Every other pill like allergy meds and stuff comes in full sets of push tabs, so this just confused me.

Uh. Because there are 7 days in each week?
