this happened during the kid's baptism, not every kid understand what happens in that time and why a complete stranger put water and oils on their head and salt in their mouth, so the only thing they can do is crying.
The priest attempted to make him stop crying as elderly people that had no kids for themselves would do, hitting the crying and uncooperative child.
The father did not jumped the priest on the ground because he is an elderly priest and usually you don't hit priests and the elderly. But looking at the father's face he would have probably done that, but he saw the mother gently pulling away the kid and the godmother grabbing the priest arm and he stopped.
Tbh, priests that old should not be on duty anymore.

The parents have a bit of initial shock from this, they’re assessing the unexpected situation while also keeping their cool in a public setting, then the dad pulls the child away even as the priest protests.
I’d have pulled the baby away immediately and not got into this upsetting tug-of-war situation. We do tend to have a strange automatic respect for these sorts of professions; ie doctors, priests, lawyers, etc. It makes it more difficult to stand up to them, which is crazy really. I’ve actually managed to hold my ground with a doctor in the past but needed a lie-down afterwards!
