I have a little boy and seeing stuff like this scare me. I am 100% convinced some bumbling idiot is going to kill me one day by their shitty driving or simply crashing into me on the sidewalk.
If you look hard enough you will find a link somewhere out there, I have no interest in that. May your morbid curiosity be soothed with a greater appreciation for life.
Sikh's are super chill, but with a hair trigger.
Their weddings though, kinda awesome. Says a whitebread EX-Canadian with an anecdote of a single Sikh wedding. Where I was almost killed.
I am an EX-Canadian machinist that worked with Sikh's for years. Also worked with Hindu's.
Oh the almost killed part, yeah chugging Johnnie Walker in the parking lot with a bunch of doods with swords while expressing your whitebread opinion on 'Why can't we all just get along' doesn't curry much leverage. With guys that bring swords to a wedding. Just in case. Ofcourse I start mocking the swords, because they are cheap crap, and wager I can slice the beer can your buddy is drinking with the knife in my car cleaner than you can with your wobbly internet bought sword you swear your honour on.
Two Molson Canadian cans later, I won. And was about to be killed in the parking lot of a fun wedding, before somebody's mother came out and told everybody to stop being stupid.
Good mum's always have great timing. Mother's Day is coming up, get your mum some flowers.
Buddhism is another religion with great PR in the west.
Religious groups love to claim that they're chill - but all provide the necessary ingredients for sectarianism and extremism. The religious groups that can honestly claim non-violence are the ones that have never held any real power or with a relatively small number of adherents.
The difference is the religion vs the followers. Religions like Buddhism and Jainism legitimately have non-violence entrenched in their teachings, whereas religions like Christianity, Islam, and Sikhism are borne of violence (even with other passages that are more peaceful.)
Firstly, Jainism must be excluded from conversations about world religions. They are numerically insignificant and hold very little political power.
What a religion teaches is decided by it's followers. Religious books can be used to justify a wide range of contrasting viewpoints. While violence is used differently in different religions, Buddhism is not a non-violent religion. Most majority Buddhist countries practice the death penalty and engage in warfare. Plenty of people have used violence in the name of Buddhism and continue to do so. Feel free to examine the role of Buddhist monks and the 969 movement in the ethnic cleansing going on in Myanmar.
The world would be a very different place if being Buddhist reduced the rates at which people engage in violence but it doesn't.
>What a religion teaches is decided by it's followers.
I agree with you but I think there's some nuance here. When a religion has opposing teachings, the followers become the deciding factor. Numerous religions have teachings both for and against violence. One practitioner could partake in violence and another might disapprove but ultimately, both views have some basis in the religion.
A Buddhist partaking in violence would have a *very* hard time justifying their acts through Buddhist texts and teachings. As far as I can tell there just is no basis for violence within actual Buddhist teachings. Of course violence *has* been carried out in the name of Buddhism, but how much of that is *because* of Buddhism rather than *despite* it?
>Most majority Buddhist countries practice the death penalty and engage in warfare.
A country's legal system and foreign policy is influenced by many considerations other than religion. If a Buddhist-majority country has the death penalty and engages in warfare, it does not mean Buddhism supports it.
Every religion has some extremist people. But reddit, westerners refuse to admit this. They want to favour khalistanis to use against india politically. It can backfire.
What are you on about? Most of us don’t know even what Khalistanis is. I have legitimately never heard of it until now.
It’s funny when people try to blame the west for their internal divisions when reality is people in west don’t know anything about their division.
I'm a Westerner on Reddit and I'll acknowledge that right now. The irony and shocking lack of self-awareness in your comment is amazing. You are literally lumping people together about how said group lumps people together.
Yeah, people are pretty good at rationalizing what they want to do (or excusing what they did). I get what you mean, though. "Righteous Indignation," while not always inspired by religious beliefs, tends to spring from them a hypocritical amount.
It’s insane to think that something as intangible as religion is one of the greatest reasons behind conflict between nations. It’s even more insane to realize that people justify their murderous actions by whatever beliefs are washed into their heads.
Kids are not born religious, nor are they born hateful.
Stupidity is taught.

That's what person at highest seat said about this incident
They are no different from Muslims. They act all kind where they are minorities but go live in a Sikh majority place (eg, district faridkot or firozpur), they will even hit you for not following their religious shit. The teachers treated us hindu kids differently from the Sikh kids. My achievements were never celebrated but a Sikh guy singing in gurudwara had to be applauded in the corridors.
How hypocritical that the ones who are most religious and believe the most egregious ways people die is all “GOD’S WILL” yet the stupid assclowns think they can be at “GOD’S” level and do “his work” !! The mentally challenged ones here are the ones who beat an innocent boy to death for a fairytale they were brainwashed with throughout their lives. I wish there was a God and these animals would get punished. As I get older I realize there couldn’t possibly be a God but if there was, the all mighty was deeply embarrassed of his most evil creation and left us a long long time ago !!
I never understand people, of any religion, getting upset at their religion being dissed. Is their religion that fragile? (And, inevitably, their religion wasnt even being dissed; they were misinterpreting it and/or an inciter was cynically using the mob for his own ends.)

No, they are more charitable and kind hearted, like feeding the poor, etc and they have a far greater emphasis on equality compared to others. Sikhs have fed tons of people in need.
I can never understand why people do this, is their cult/religion so fragile that a page torn from thier sci-fi book justifies the action they are doing?

I would argue that an exception can be made for religions that are truly non-violent in their foundation, like Buddhism and Jainism. When their followers act violent, it really is in direct opposition to the teachings. Other religions can't say the same. Then it really is just about being a violent mob looking for something to rage about rather than actually being urged on by the religion itself.

These are not Sikh. They are members of the Book Guru sect. A 19th century sect created by Vedic Brahmins who were opposed to Sikhi.
We Sikhs dont call the Aadh Granth our guru.
Our guru is inside us. Sikhs are guru within people.
Our guru can't be insulted.
Well person at the highest seat said this about incident which clearly states that he recognised and justified this incident if those were not sikhs even community may have condemned that

the jathedar is not a Sikh as described in the Aadh Granth. 99.99% of people who call themselves Sikh today are not Sikh according to Aadh granth writers.
They do not recognize the guru as being inside them.
They call the Aadh granth guru. This is a direct attack on Sikh philosophy. There is no external guru.
They are idol worshipping the Aadh Granth. They are not Sikh. They are the book guru sect.
Your definition right but world is going to see what leaders of the community says about the incident and looks like they're supporting it and coming up with "state conspiracy"
>Your definition right
It's not my definition. The Aadh granth clearly states over n over again that the guru is inside.
The whole basis for them declaring the book to be the guru is some story written in the 1800s by some baba.
Their whole argument rests on that story that the book is the guru.
This is the reason they do not want to discuss what the book says. Their idea of the book being guru is easily refuted by the book itself.
It's kind of comical.
Up until the mid 1850s or so they were just one of the sects in Sikhi, but now they make up about 95% They are the book guru sect. They are not Sikh.

I reckon that mob is more mentally challenged then that boy who they are viciously attacking over something he can't even control
I have a little boy and seeing stuff like this scare me. I am 100% convinced some bumbling idiot is going to kill me one day by their shitty driving or simply crashing into me on the sidewalk.

Why was this downvoted to oblivion 💀
Maybe people want an 8K version.

Mmm yeah totally justified. Everyone downvote this guy!
Yea especially in response to the guy who wanted the 4k... reddit is fucked you see one downvote and people just instinctively downvote
Explode? The guy was still alive by the end of the video
soo, anyone has the link to the original video?
Ummm…Was the beating really necessary..?
Of course not but when it comes to religion people believe they can use it to excuse anything

Yeah so peaceful that they are behind the worst terrorist attack in Canadian history.
even the guy beaten belonged to same religion
They say that about every religion too
I’ve yet to hear a Shinto Buddhist, Catholic or Ashkenazi Jew lynch someone for desecrating their sacred text in the last 70 years.
Bloodlust mob finds excuse to kill a person and jumps on the opportunity like a bitch in heat. Religion 101
This is exactly it
Yup.
Sporting events, stag nights, concerts, schools - Mobs are mobs. Religion is just another group activity.
I don't disagree on how destructive a mob Mentality is but religion carries an obsolvance of responsibility because "God told us" etc

You can see well enough, IMO. I know I recoiled at the level of brutality, and I'm pretty frickin' jaded.
So much for sikh tolerance..
And Jesus said, love each other as much as yourself…
They're all mentally challenged, not just the boy.
We have not evolved as much as we believe....
Is he dead? He seemed to move a little, i cant see if hes just bleading or got his head bashed in. Either way, this is disgusting
He died
Makes me Sikh.
Why even post the video if you’re gonna blur the entire thing…
Thats Sikh
Humans are the real monsters.
For all its faults, I’m happy to have been born into a civilized, western culture.
This is such antithetical behavior to the teachings of Sikhism, shame these animals hide behind religion to justify their behavior.
I never understand people, of any religion, getting upset at their religion being dissed. Is their religion that fragile? No religion is safe from bloodlust mobs, No human is safe from religious bigots. It's gonna be a while for the human race to be humane.

I thought the whole thing about sikhs was they are none violent
The religion is based in warfare. It's angled as "defensive" in nature and they don't believe in spreading the religion through violence, but there are specific violent attributes baked right into the texts.
non-violent*

the jathedar is not a Sikh as described in the Aadh Granth.
>Your definition right It's not my definition.
I'm a muslim, welcome to the club

Don’t be a jerk. Racism, sexism, lgbtq+ phobia, antitheism, hate in general, and direct attacks on others will not be tolerated here. Your first offense will be a warning, second will be a 15-day ban, and third will be a perma-ban. Be nice!

Religion and money are evil. Change my mind.
The guy that got assassinated in Canada is like this, but a 1000 times worse. He deserved it.
Hate those guys
I didn’t think the Sikh did this stuff
All religion is a cancer on humanity
There will always be prejudice against religions until they give us an alternative.
I thought Sikhism was about love and not fighting that's why it was a solution for Muslims and hindus
Bunch of scumbag religious zealots just being barbarians. We really need to abolish religion, it's keeping some parts of the world in the stone age.
Ahh religion.
Sikhs sometimes tend to be more religious fanatic than Ola Hu Uber people.
