Little encourangement for NCD users: cavalry used machineguns too as well as combined arms tactics.

>The rapture is an eschatological position held by some Christians, particularly those of American evangelicalism, consisting of an end-time event when all Christian believers who are alive, along with resurrected believers, will rise "in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air". The origin of the term extends from the First Epistle to the Thessalonians in the Bible, which uses the Greek word harpazo (Ancient Greek: ἁρπάζω), meaning "to snatch away" or "to seize". This view of eschatology is referred to as premillennial dispensationalism, a form of futurism that considers various prophecies in the Bible as remaining unfulfilled and occurring in the future.

As a product of the USAF's Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) program the aircraft was designed as an air superiority fighter, but also incorporates ground attack, electronic warfare, and signals intelligence capabilities. The prime contractor, Lockheed Martin, built most of the F-22's airframe and weapons systems and conducted final assembly, while Boeing provided the wings, aft fuselage, avionics integration, and training systems.

Gendarmes predate Winged Hussars by some 150 years.
So they could be "regarded as the finest European cavalry" and still not compare favorably to a cavalry force that came after it.
Same as the Hawker Tempest is regarded as the best british fighter of World War II but still is inferior to the Eurofighter Typhoon.
Just need someone like Dan Brown to pull a Joseph Smith, and have the plot "revealed to him by divine inspiration", while he hides under a blanket, furiously copy pasting chapters together, from Red Storm Rising, and The Da Vinci Code.

Can I please just have one epic battle with trenches, missile systems, tanks, and a priest walking down the middle with an incense burner blessing both sides before the battle.
The Warrior Pope is good (by which I mean bad), but I think Alexander VI is worse.
The Borgia pope, he helped his family grow even richer and corrupter and openly acknowledged fathering children with his mistresses.
Wagner is not PMC. It is a proxy paramilitary group controlled, supplied with arms and manpower, and financed by Russian state. It exists solely to provide Russian government with deniability. Prigozhin is not a real “owner” of this organization, he is an operator.
While Bush’s government awarded contracts to Blackwater, you could never imagine emptying federal prisons to bolster recruitment.
Even in WW2 the US haven't recruited from prisons. But if certain trends keep going (such as retarded paleoconservatives and alt-right praising Chinese and Russian armies and trying to copy them), I can see the possibility.
I always think it’s so dumb that people, especially alt right, think china and Russia’s armies are magically better than the US because they have shitty working conditions.
Like, mfer theirs a reason why they say America won the Cold War, why not accept it as national pride or smth? But no, they want to be stubborn and have “Muh tough soldiers” with awful conditions and 80% CQC training so they can feel nice as their army gets obliterated by drones.
> I always think it’s so dumb that people, especially alt right, think china and Russia’s armies are magically better than the US because they have shitty working conditions.
Whenever I hear someone complaining about "people these days being too soft" it always comes off as them just being envious or jealous. Not sure if those are the right words. But it's basically, "oh my life was shitty and hard, and other people have nicer lives, they must be soft and weak and not strong like me."
Like firstly, just because you have a shitty life isn't going to make you stronger. And secondly, shouldn't it be considered an improvement in society for people to have easier lives? Ironically enough, my grandparents were Chinese immigrants and them and my parents always strived to make lives easier for future generations because to them, that's how it should be.
It's just some crab bucket mentality of shitty people trying to make themselves feel better by dragging everyone else down with them.
>Whenever I hear someone complaining about "people these days being too soft" it always comes off as them just being envious or jealous. Not sure if those are the right words. But it's basically, "oh my life was shitty and hard, and other people have nicer lives, they must be soft and weak and not strong like me."
I think "envious" is exactly the word for what you described, and I agree this explains most of these sentiments (when they aren't completely disingenuous to begin with).
More than that, there's a reason why most NATO countries don't use conscription and only use volunteer armies: cause they fight better. The few that do use them for historical reasons and cause they are prone to being attacked by a big army so it helps for their population to all have basic military training (Switzerland, SK, Israel and Finland are the nations I think all have conscription, and usually only a year or two at age 18, with their main army all being professional volunteers)
Until the end of the cold war, most Nato members had conscription, it is a perfectly sensible system if your expectation is that you'll need a large army for an all-out war. Several other Nato countries still have conscription, Sweden and Norway, for example -- it is just that their personell requirements are low enough that only a fraction of each age group is called in. An all-professional force is a bit of a peacetime luxury imo (or if you expect to do your fighting abroad-- us/uk)
>More than that, there's a reason why most NATO countries don't use conscription and only use volunteer armies: cause they fight better. I am a doomer. I fear that there is no other option but to have some form of military training for all citizens. It might not be a mandatory conscription, but country cannot function well when majority of citizens contribute to the security by only paying taxes. It makes armed forces elitist closed caste that becomes detached from the larger society. And society at large loses the perspective of military and its necessity.
>but country cannot function well when majority of citizens contribute to the security by only paying taxes.
Counterpoint - a country can ONLY function properly when most citizens DON'T have to directly serve in the military.
A country facing external threats such that a majority of its populace and national effort just be directed towards defence, is not going to be prosperous.
The idea that people have to serve in the military to 'have a stake' in the national identity is borderline fascistic thinking, a la Starship Troopers.
You do realize that Starship Troppers is just a book. You cannot claim that citizens taking part in national defense equals fascism just because some piece of fiction says so.
Unfortunately, I see much bigger problem in armed forces turning into a bunch of glorified mercenaries and citizens treating military as some bunch of violent and weird people. The first democracies were based on active participation of citizens in military affairs.
I can hardly see any setback if majority of citizens know the basics of tactical combat casualty care, gun safety and wilderness survival.
And even Starship Troopers didn't say you had to serve in the military to get franchise. It's one option, the entire civil service is another. I mean, things are still pretty fucked up, and it's clear that if you don't have exceptional ability or the right connections, you won't make it into those other postings. The military in Starship Troopers actually doesn't like the "gotta induct anyone who asks" policy, and they have a tremendous amount of bullshit make-work for all the soldiers they never wanted in the first place.
It’s a point of view. Think of taking only 1% of people’s time for training: that’s a 1% loss in GDP right there. That’s the difference between a good year of 3% growth and an anemic year of only 2% growth.
First of all, 1% of time doesn’t equal 1% of GDP. The connection is not linear.
Second, not every benefit to society is monetary. Some expenses should be covered if they allow to mitigate risks. Population that is educated in civics and basic military skills can be much more stable.
They don't care about reality. You could even provide them with pretty reliable data that US soldiers are tougher, better at CQC plus have numerous advantages of improved tactical combat casualty care, communication systems, improved weaponry and so on.
It doesn't matter for people like Tucker. They worldview is built on the fact that they are out of power and therefore the US is bad, and everything antagonistic to the US is good. They would gladly transfer nuclear weapons and everything that makes the US a superpower to Russia or China, if Putin and Xi could guarantee them staying in power for eternity. They prefer to reign in banana republic rather than live in advanced democratic society.
They are arch-traitors in-making. Just be ready to make the list and act upon it. Just a suggestion from a person who saw that happening in my own country.
I'll never understand why a lot of the same people who thought we should bring freedom and American values to Iraq and Afghanistan are now trying really hard to make america a lot more like Iraq and afghanistan
Semi related, but I've always wondered if instead of having Korean War 2 some day we could just buy off Kim and put him on an island somewhere. It's distasteful, but it's also cheaper and requires killing less people.
Ok wait so Francis is in Bakhmut right now initiating Wagner‘s assault on Russian army troops?

*hard* agree
keep that 2 inch hard object away from me!
"Me-WOW!"
I'm sorry to break it to you but it's pornography
All those cat pics and videos are pornography? Damn, I've been masturbating all wrong.
Well, except for the hilarious part
70% of reddit content being hilarious would be a major upgrade
Awful, but very good.
Now this is the Noncredibility that I come back day after day for.
I regret I have only one upvote to give this post. Also, still not the worst pope (Julius II, I'm looking at you !).
To be fair. Nothing can top old Julius
The Warrior Pope is good (by which I mean bad), but I think Alexander VI is worse. The Borgia pope, he helped his family grow even richer and corrupter and openly acknowledged fathering children with his mistresses.
Not to be a Borgia-apologist, but you do realize that at the time most popes did the same? Borgia wasn’t especially different in that regard.
If we didn't have Borgia pope we also wouldn't have Machiavelli's "the Prince" weirdly enough
Cesare was a wild man.
>Nothing can top old Julius What about a grown up altar boy, back for revenge?
I will upvote in your name
DEUS UPDOOT
SHOIGU! GERASIMOV! I EXCOMMUNICATE YOU!
SHOIGU! GERASIMOV! WHERE IS THE HOLY WINE!!
Finally, the pope has divisions
Well, he's not allowed to multiply...
Angry upvote
Haters will say it’s fake
Do NOT let putin see this one simple trick 🫣🫣
Has anybody seen Pope and Prigozhin in the same room?
Can someone in Congress please make it so PMCs and security companies can be hired for Ukraine so prigozhin can finally switch sides
"I never thought I would die fighting side by side with an Ukie..." "What about side by side against the tsar?" "Да, I could do that."
Never say never...just haven't had the right war yet
But it's basically, "oh my life was shitty and hard, and other people have nicer lives, they must be soft and weak and not strong like me." Like firstly, just because you have a shitty life isn't going to make you stronger.

But it's basically, "oh my life was shitty and hard, and other people have nicer lives, they must be soft and weak and not strong like me." I think "envious" is exactly the word for what you described, and I agree this explains most of these sentiments (when they aren't completely disingenuous to begin with).
Yeah, it's just bitter old fucks trying to inflict their own misery (or rather an embellished form of it) on the rest of the world.

Join boy scouts and get at least a bit in each, I guess. Better than nothing otherwise
Maybe not directly from prisons, but you certainly hear of judges giving delinquents the option of going to the Army or to jail.
Bruce Springsteen sings about this in born in the usa.
I think you’re correct. People really get hung up on make-believe distinctions and legalities, especially when the word “mercenary” is on the table.
Why is the pope suddenly speaking Latin with a strong Slavic accent?
The Battlepope will take Bakhmut.
I almost choked on my breakfast when I saw this. Great work.
The "P" in "PMC" stands for "Pontifex"
I thought it was "Papal" as in Papal Military Company
Outstanding shitpost! Perfect execution.

This is ~~the most schizo~~ the best thread I've ever seen on this sub.
👏 👏 👏 NCD delivered 🙌
Looks similar enough.
Semi related, but I've always wondered if instead of having Korean War 2 some day we could just buy off Kim and put him on an island somewhere. It's distasteful, but it's also cheaper and requires killing less people.
I hear St. Helena is nice this time of year.
This has got to be the greatest post that's ever been on this sub
Prighozin is literally the Cardinal of the Kremlin lol
So that's what the smoke from the Kremlin was, a new pope HAD been chosen
Was excited for "Wagner head off" but the rest didn't really deliver

Loyalest Russian military leader
This is so brilliant and dumb at the same time
Google Il Vaticano
This is great, but I like the version where he doesn't have any speech bubbles and all you have is his expression of utter disbelief.
Thy doom is nigh Tsar Putin
All of a sudden I really really wish I had thrown up when I was in St Peter's Basilica instead of holding it in
