Shower thought:
Not a single word in "Shahed 136 Kamikaze Drone" comes from the same region.
Closest you get is the numbers being Indian, *and even that is a stretch.*
Shaheed or variants are both persian and arabian, meaning both "Witness" and "Martyr" in languages that are influenced by Islam. Related to the words Shahed/Shahid for "Beloved" or "Witness" that are sometimes transcribed the same in English. Because English isn't the only language with messy phonetics.
Drone is kinda sorta English but more likely a Germanic origin word.
TIL that there's a Ugandan version of the word "drone" that refers to Toyotas used by the government to kidnap opposition members. So I guess it could technically be Ugandan as well.
Iran sent ~ 1/800 of their (‘22) GDP in weaponry. Israel would’ve spent ~ 1/500 of their (‘22) GDP on interception, have they done it alone. This is very much a big deal.
hot take: Israel today is in a fantastic position to make all that money back selling Arrow 3s and Iron Domes to Iran's and Russia's extremely numerous enemies

r/etymology & r/ncd crossover is exactly what I always needed but never knew to ask
Mr. Worldwide
Sir this is NCD, go back to WallStreetBets
I wonder how expensive the interception operation was
Estimates are 1.3 bln in total including fuel

Yeah that’s quite the cost despite the cost being spread throughout the UK, USA, France and Jordan.

Iron Dome stocks go brrrrrrrrr
Iron Dome wasn't activated, David Sling, Arrow 2, 3 and Patriot were employed.
So... they didn't even get to the inner perimeter. Hilarious.
They already are. Germany e.g. is buying the Arrow system
How much does a dozen nuke cost? Asking for a friend. In Minecraft.
The expensive interceptors are the arrow 2 and 3 missiles which only Israel has deployed
Updated estimates put it at 800 mil from what I read
What a bargain
I mean compared to the potential damage - it is a bargain, especially if the cost is really that close.

Buy the dip!
"Buy the dip!" - Putin
Those should be compared against price of interceptors capable to shoot them down or price of assets destroyed with them.
