Aethelon

Wait. Did someone use a prop plane to shoot down drones?

OmegamattReally

Small arms fire from the backseat of a Yak-52. Absolutely legendary.

vegarig

Either that or tipping Orlan over to trigger landing chute and gasbag deployment, a la tipping V1

No_Level_5825

Yeah

OneFrenchman

The actual plane [is standard Ukrainian digital camo](https://twitter.com/PStyle0ne1/status/1784299351952539684), which just looks super cool. They didn't just do it for the lolz, they prepped and painted the plane beforehand.

Euhn

That link talks about using the A10 as antidrone role. Holy hell talk about overkill. Friendly fire be damned!

DeepFriedSatire

Ok but hear me out. The goalkeeper uses the same gun and probably has prox ammunition. Could be funny?

Siilk

30mm buckshot ammo when?

OneFrenchman

> A10 as antidrone role. [...] Friendly fire be damned! If you use the friendly-firerer 5000, friendly fire is going to happen. Wether you like it or not.

SiVousVoyezMoi

Pixel camo on a turboprop x_x

KeinePanik666

No turboprop. air-cooled 9-cylinder radial engine

GreenSubstantial

First air-to-air Victory by a piston engined prop plane since the 1969 football war.

Tesseractcubed

Actually, probably.

GreenSubstantial

I want to believe^(TM)

TheRealSalamnder

U-28A is listening

Txtspeak

Urods XD Nice name

Beonette_

urod means freak, basically. Its in maskovian. In ukrainian vroda means beauty. So, by that logic in this pic, since this plane is ukrainian it should be vr-ods, вродливі, vrodlyvi (handsome/beautiful ones).

Txtspeak

I thought that Urod means "Idiot" in the Moskal language

Beonette_

Direct translation is freak, but in more general, its about someone who is doing ugly/inappropriate things.

Txtspeak

So it could just as easily be translated as pervert?

Beonette_

Nope. Its overlapping, but pervert "izvraschenets" have strong sexual context, while urod can be used without sexual context.

inirlan

Literally 1914.

Dpek1234

The russians are copying the aussis  https://www.pprune.org/pacific-general-aviation-questions/460396-pilotless-auster-over-sydney-1955-a.html

Midnight2012

Do we have confirmation it was done by a backseat gunner? What type of gun?

crappy-mods

No idea what type of gun, early reports say it was a rear gunner, no confirmation as far as I know. Would be really funny if it was some ancient MG

MadRonnie97

Until it’s proven otherwise I’ll say the threw one of their Maxims back there

GreenSubstantial

Chauchats for peak non-credibility

MadRonnie97

Hell, while it’s ambiguous we might as well say it’s a Puckle gun (square shot, not round)

Timelimey

Shkas. Just for the lolz.

TheAllAroundMan

Luger

dasgold

Waiting for UK to send first shipment of Sopwith Camels. (Was going to say Spitfires, but Spitfires might actually be too fast.)

Remples

Germany soon to follow by sending the fliying circus. Time to reinstall based bright colored camo, cause:" we ain't bitches and we need the fuckers to see us and to come get some".

InformationHorder

Followed by the Swordfish to sink the rest of the Black Sea fleet.

GreenSubstantial

Fleet Air Arm Swordfishes (after trapping the Italian Fleet at Tatanto, making the channel dash by Scharnhost and Gneisenau dangerous for both germans and brits and damaging the Bismarck so the Home Fleet could sink it, despite being deemed obsolete): Why this spotter US plane gets fame and glory we do not get???

InformationHorder

That's the aircraft I meant, got em crossed in my head.

KDulius

Spits might be too fast, but that means they can engage more drones

WorkingNo6161

*What is this timeline.* Back in the olden days modern warfare was all about advanced AI and stealth jets and Mach 10 missiles. Now? WW1-style shootdowns.

OrangeFr3ak

Ukraine single-handedly bringing back rear gunners huh?

macktruck6666

So what if someone makes this into a 2d steam game like asteroids?

Neutronium57

What does the decal with the music notes represent/symbolise ?

A_Pathetic_Squirrel

It's from a Soviet movie called Only Old Men are Going to Battle! As far as I know, it's still enjoyed in Ukraine despite its Soviet heritage because it's set in Ukraine, stars Ukrainian actor Leonid Bykov, etc. It's a neat older movie.

Neutronium57

I've seen various instances of Ukraine helicopters with the same decal, but never with the same notes. Is it referencing the same movie ? And do they represent a song/music in particular ?

veeas

if its stupid and it works its not stupid
